A woman identified as Ekaterina Parkhomenko from Torez has become the very face of inhumanity and greed around the Malaysian Air crash site in the Ukraine. People around the world have been disgusted by stories of the Russian-backed militia stealing credit cards and cellphones from the crash site as well as preventing investigators from detailing the facts about the crash. However, pro-Russian local Parkhomenko allegedly went further and actually posted pictures on social media sites bragging about how she was able to snatch looted mascara from a dead woman and then took selfies showing how the mascara looked on her.
Parkhomenko said that the make up was looted from the downed Malaysian Airlines flight, writing “Mascara from Amsterdam, or rather from the field. Well, I think you know what I mean.” She said that a friend brought the mascara to her after looting the dead in the field. Other images show Russian-backed militia taking wedding rings and other objects from the bodies. However, there is something especially grotesque of looting makeup from a dead woman and then parading with it on for the world to see.
Parkhomenko describes herself as a “separatist” and wrote that she “hates everything Ukrainian.” Well, the feeling is now mutual with virtually every person on Earth in how we feel about Parkhomenko.

With the shootdowns of MH17 and IR655, I don’t believe either was a case of deliberately targeting civilian passenger planes. In both cases, there was a wrong ID.
Distinguishing the cases is that the MH17 shootdown apparently was due to an offensive action whereas the IR655 shootdown was due to a defensive action.
It doesn’t appear the separatists believed they were under attack. Rather, they picked out a target they believed was a Ukrainian military plane and shot it down, except it wasn’t a military plane.
With the USS Vincennes, Capt Rogers was wrong, horribly and tragically so, but he believed his ship was under attack and made a quick reaction on a mistaken ID. A year earlier, the USS Stark was hit by 2 missiles fired from an Iraqi fighter jet after Capt Brindel had warned off the “unknown aircraft” but withheld fire. 37 sailors were killed and Capt Brindel was relieved of his command for failing to defend his ship. That scenario was likely at the forefront of the minds of Capt Rogers and his crew when the chain of events set off that led to shooting down IR655.
Also distinguishing the 2 cases is the difference of status between the pro-Russian separatists in the Ukraine and the US Navy defending a vital international shipping lane that was under threat by both warring parties of the Iran-Iraq War.
Just a question. Have those folks in the Netherlands asked NATO or the U.S. to respond as an alliance to the shoot down of MH 17 by exacting and
“eye for an eye?”
Has anyone in the Netherlands suggested that a Russian airliner be shot down as revenge? Have the people of the Netherlands demanded that Putin be tried in the International Court?
Why not? What are those injured parties waiting for? They lost 300 people to a rogue barbarian.

The Vincennes claimed that it thought the Airbus was an F-14 Tomcat – not too believable for a ship equipped with the Aegis missile system. The jetliner was also in Iranian airspace when it was shot down.

Unlike with this Malaysian jetliner, we know who shot down Iran 655. Did that make Ronald Reagan “evil”?
The U.S. is in no position to take a superior attitude when it comes to gunning down civilian aircraft. But it is nonetheless.
Actually, the shooting down of the Iran airliner was recorded and the investigation showed that the ship thought, since the plane would not respond and did not turn, that it was in danger. Putin has no such excuse.

Ukraine is a sovereign nation, under attack by the remnants of the old Soviet guard, backed by Russia. Who cares if it’s propaganda, if it protects Ukraine’s sovereignty and restores freedom? A nation has a right to propaganda, no less than it has a right to defend itself?

I can only speak for myself. I do not want war. I do want justice for the people killed on that flight. I investigated homicides for a prosecutors office. A great and wise homicide detective was my mentor. He would say on occasion, “Someone has to speak for the dead.” That would be said when it was a felon, hooker, homeless killing. You know, the deaths where nobody but the investigator and prosecutor gave a rat’s ass. SOMEONE needs to speak for these dead. The cavalier and sanctimonious attitude from some is heartless. If your kid was on that plane it would be a different tune. At least I hope it would. To date, no one has the balls to speak for these dead. Putin’s oil is too important for the Europeans and Obama is playing golf and doing fundraisers. Putin is evil. You must confront evil.
There is an international human rights act. Some civilized nation states sign a treaty which obligated them to follow the treaty law. America is too exemplary to sign on. So quit being so friggin righteous about Russians here.
