MSNBC Host: “Keep It Right Here On Morning Jew”

200px-Sigmund_Freud_LIFE220px-Mika_BrzezinskiWe have another addition to our series “Perils of the Press.” There are Freudian Slips and then there are Freudian falls from a high cliff. The later seems of a more apt description of MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski mistake this morning. After interviewing Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Ron Dermer, Brzezinski said “keep it right here on Morning Jew.”


I honestly hope that people are not too hard on Brzeninski. Such slips have happened to all of us and often tend to be funny, if somewhat embarrassing. When hosts like Brzeninski are juggling scripts and interviews, I am more surprised that such slips do not happen more often.

Freudian slips are actually called parapraxis and thought to be a mistake in speech that reflects some “dynamically repressed” thought. As a juris doctor, I would diagnosis a simple close pronunciation of “Joe” and “Jew” but then again I have so many Freudian slip and falls that I could keep an army of analysts busy for centuries. I once introduced a person who caught me at a speech with a long tirade against the legal system named Coring as “Mr. Boring.” To his credit, even he got a good laugh from that one as my face turned a bright red.

  1. What kind of depraved animals use children as shields. It’s all Hamas has left now, propaganda. It works on anti-Semites and the folks lacking critical thinking skills.

  2. A UN spokesman was on CNN a couple hours ago admitting @ least 3, three, tres, trio, schools found to have terrorists rockets, Max. So, there’s that.

  4. Max-1 – reports from Gaza from reporters who are now out of the field report that Hamas is using human shields and firing into civilian centers. And that the last major attack was pre-exploded Hamas rockets, not IDF rockets.

  5. BarkinDog – Freud is also supposed to have said that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. However, he smoked cigars and probably had half the things he thought other people had.

  6. Oh, and the Monica and Bill Clinton story about the cigar: it is said by Bill to have been a Freudian Slip. Monica says she wore a slip. It gets ugly. But one cant wonder about Freud, Bill, the slip, Freud and his dumb cigar routine. Methinks that Bill had read up on Freud and knew about the real story behind t Freudian Slip. If we could get Monica to “tell all” then we would know whether we want Hillary as President. Me, I think she is too old.

    1) the claim that Hamas uses schools and hospitals for rockets is unsubstantiated except in one case where the UN condemned it. All other claims remain unsubstantiated. Why keep propagandizing false truths?

    2) even IF Hamas placed rockets in schools and hospitals, what kind of nation targets them knowing innocent civilians are in the way intending to take them out with the munitions? Please define barbarism…

  11. Nick is correct in his assessment of the Kristallnacht events going on in Europe. That jerk over in Turkey named Erdogan or however ya spull it is one of the worst. The UN needs to close their dumb schools in Gaza because Hamas puts their rocket launchers next door to attract missiles from Israel. Some schmuck from the UN, a Brit, was on CNN just now berating the Israelis for hitting a UN school in Gaza. Close them down for the duration for Christ sake. Or Muhammed’s sake. For Dog’s sake.

  12. The phrase Freudian Slip is or was, a slur on Freud himself by those who knew him well. He was not just sucking on a cigar all the time. He had a feddish for red womans’ underwear and particularly slips. Which is an item he personally wore. So, the zuet suit and the cigar thing is just a front for a fruit who indulged and made money in a rather dumb school and theory of human behavior.

  14. I have a rotation of foreign news sources I read every morning, starting w/ the BBC. The vast majority of people in our country depend exclusively on US sources, and reading sources that comport w/ their world view. Europe is starting to look like Germany in the 30’s w/ anti-Semitic hatred. Really bad things happen when anti-Semitism rises. There was a Kristallnacht in Paris this week. Ugly.
