Louis Farrakhan has long been dismissed by most people as a race-baiting crank. However, Farrakhan’s latest missive to his Nation of Islam followers is particularly incendiary. He suggests that ebola and other diseases were developed by the United States to “depopulate” the world of black people. What is dangerous is that thousands actually believe Farrakhan’s conspiracy theories. Notably, this conspiracy is very close to the one being spread among remote villages of Africa where health care workers are being killed because they are viewed as spreading the disease or working for those who created it.
Of course, by spreading the Ebola conspiracy theory, Farrakhan makes it more likely that blacks will die from the disease, which was first diagnosed at a remote village near the Central African Republic border on the Ebola river in 1976.
In his message to followers, Farrakhan states:
What is the method that they are going to use to depopulate? Through civil wars in which depleted uranium and Agent Orange are used. . . . Another method is disease infection through bio-weapons such as Ebola and AIDS, which are race targeting weapons. There is a weapon that can be put in a room where there are Black and White people, and it will kill only the Black and spare the White, because it is a genotype weapon that is designed for your genes, for your race, for your kind.
After rattling off other aspects of the conspiracy from fast food to genetically altered crops (that sterilize people), Farrakhan adds:
What kind of mind could take you in a room and give you an inoculation that you think is one thing, but it is something else? See, nobody could do this but a devil. I’m not talking about some spook devil—I’m talking about a real devil that can breathe and has hands and a brain to think evil!
I don’t want anyone to think I’m a racist; if any of you that are here that think of yourselves as White, don’t look at me like I’m a hater, because everything I say, I can prove it and will die on it! I’m not against any race; I am against the evil that men of that race are planning against my people.
No, none of that is racist. The business of how white people are spreading disease to kill black people is completely sane and non-racial.
What is incredible is that suggestions that black people should resist inoculations as a vehicle for genocide by white people. That again is what is being spread in Africa where ebola victims are being “rescued” from clinics and villages have barred teams from entering to help stop the disease. Of course, we have had many of these brave doctors and health care doctors — including many white health care professionals — not only put themselves in harm’s way to help Africans but have died as a result.
This guy probably believes that the U.S. Constitution institutionalized slavery and racism.
But we know that Rep. M. Bachmann set the record straight by pointing out that the U.S. Constitution banned racism by banning slavery.
He probably also believes white folk made slaves of them and institutionalized it in the U.S. Constituion. Wierdo eh?
He says some crazy stuff in that screed, but he also says some accurate stuff. The Tuskegee experiment to infect poor black men with syphilis and watch them as guinea pigs for 40 years was started under the administration of liberal hero Franklin Delano Roosevelt. That the federal government did this to poor black men and their communities, and both Democrat and Republican presidencies maintained this hideous experiment for 40 years without the knowledge or consent of the purposefully infected people, is a disgraceful and undeniable fact. It is also undeniable that liberal feminist hero Margaret Sanger founded Planned Parenthood, in part, to exterminate preborn black babies in poor neighborhoods during the progressive eugenics era. He’s right about black on black crime. I assume he’s right about all of the Executive Orders he mentioned. He’s right that it would be better to train undereducated young black men to be plumbers, carpenters and craftsmen rather than allow them to waste their lives aimlessly.
It’s too bad he mucked the whole thing up with the ebola/HIV conspiracy, how McDonald’s is out to poison black people and a lot of other nonsense. A couple of his points were pretty good and his remarks about Tuskegee and Margaret Sanger were spot on.
Groty – just to be clear. The men were ALREADY infected with syphilis. They were told they were being treated for it, but were not. Then they watched the spread of the disease in the community.
You’re right that conspiracy theories can mislead and disorient people.
But have you considered why such discussion has traction among Blacks in the United States. Farrakhan mentioned Tuskegee, but you left that out of your discussion. It only ended in 1972, not so long ago.

Walter Lippman – I am well aware of the Tuskeegee experiment and I am aware that the Federal government gave LSD to people unwittingly (most of whom were white).
fiver – beware of wikipedia.
Okay, can we all agree that Louis Farrakan’s elevator does not go all the way to the top?
Apparently the white race is concurrently diabolical and incompetent – since (with only 3,000 deaths in six months) – our plot to exterminate the African Blacks has been more than offset by African births during the same time period.
If only we weren’t so fricki’n obtuse we’d be dangerous!
@bk
Yeah, ebola is a Koch Brother plot to oppress the black voters. . .whistling. . .

LOL!! Thanks, BK. I’m bookmarking this comment.
I guess it’s just a coincidence that HIV and Ebola showed up first in communities in Africa (and NYC and SF for HIV) that were targeted by WHO for Hepatitis C inoculations.
Haven’t thought of that old loon in years.
If crazies want to believe him, go ahead; Darwin Theory says that stupid genes deserve to die out.
Hate speech is a one way street. Everyone knows that for chrissake!!
Is this HATE speech?
Good morning Jonathan:
I put a slightly different spin on the Farrakhan statements in an article at TPC:
‘Obama: ‘US Developed Ebola To Kill Black People…’
Louis Farrakhan recently told his followers that ebola is a creation of white people that’s being used to kill black people.
As outrageous and incendiary as that statement is, can a mathematical formula in any way tie Barack Obama to the Nation of Islam leader?

I’m focused on Thomas Duncan infected with Ebola, who flew from Liberia to Texas then:
Had contact with up to 18 people, including five children. He got outside and he was throwing up all over the place in Texas.
Thomas Duncan maybe sick with Ebola, but was also extremely reckless and self centered by deciding to travel by air. The FBI, hopefully with have a chat with him!
Considering all the lies that come from the mouths of politicians, it’s not surprising that people like Farrakhan assume that everything anyone calls “humanitarian” is likely to be a lie. Perhaps he could be persuaded that those who wind up in health care really do want to help other people.
He’s wrong. Ebola is a space lifeform planted here by the secret society of space aliens who run the social media industry.
Sorry, I’ve got more…
As Americans we tolerate the lies and deceptions that will kill us, and even give the diciples of death the platform on which to perform. We are such kind and understanding folks.
He’s an idiot. We really need to stop giving press to people like him.
It distracts from the real question and problem. Is there screening on our borders for the multitude of infectious diseases suddenly afflicting this country? Is DHS capable, either logistically or politically, of protecting our country from infectious disease and the carriers?
From the clown who killed the greatest black leader of all time, Malcolm X. It’s little wonder black folk are in such poor straits w/ clowns like this, Sharpton and Jackson being their spokesmen.
