There is an interesting poll out by the Washington Post and ABC News showing support for Democrats in Congress failing to a record low. Given the even more unpopular GOP, that is not necessarily surprising. The parties have long given up being popular and have focused on simply being less unpopular than the other party in our duopoly. However, what was particularly surprising was that some 47 percent of blacks now oppose the Democrats.
It is no love fest with either party. Democrats in Congress has an incredible 67 percent unpopularity level with voters. However, some 72 percent disapprove of the Republicans. Yet, the Democrats appear to be falling significantly at a time when they could lose both houses of Congress.
Some 50 percent of blacks approve of the Democrats but 47 percent disapprove.
While Democrats have contested reported polls showing women leaving the Democrats in droves, it is clear that women are not a lock in this election despite being the most carefully cultivated voting block by the White House for years.
This election is shaping up in very unexpected ways given the perceived movement of these groups. The fear is that Democrats would be devastated by large numbers of disaffected blacks staying home on election day.

Pogo, Thanks for the link. Franken has a ten point lead this time.
Paul C, Is that why he picked Palin? lol
SWM – it is why he picked Palin. He needed a real Republican, not a faux Republican like he is. She would play to the base, he would play to the media.
@SWM: WaPo: Could non-citizens decide the November election?
slohrss29, Yep. McCain will soon be back at the head of the Foreign Relations Committee.
SWM – don’t forget the McCain is really a RINO.
Well said Doglover–I think that pretty well sums up my thoughts. People cry for more Democrat-style “regulation.” Rafflaw’s weekend story shows how well that is working. Watched the 60 minutes (gotta be careful there now…) and they showed the CDC required dress for nurses treating ebola patients. This huge government should really do some governing instead of watching us against our will and making all important decisions in secret. Frothing repubs can’t wait to get another war started (except for Paul, but they’ll keep chopping down his message in the press and keep working up the salivating warmongers). Is that too much to ask??? The drone party marches onward–but don’t say anything about it…
“majority non-citizen vote”pogo Is that code?
I’m sure the Democrats still have the majority non-citizen vote behind them, so they’ll win handily.
If it’s close, they can reject GOP votes in a recount, find new votes in a trunk, or have the touchscreens select the Dem no matter what you choose.
No worries.
Looks like an independent could possibly win in Kansas. Leaders McConnell and Boehner will send the voters back to the polls in 2016 to vote for the dems. Read somewhere that having McConnell in for two years will actually help Hillary Clinton get elected. Certainly makes sense……..
The polls don’t matter. Much. The real question isn’t who Democrats or blacks or women will vote for, it’s who will be preselected for voters to
(hahahahahaha)choose from.Third party candidates are great, but remember 99.9% of the time they are tolerated to allow people to let off steam – that is, hot air.
It would be nice to send the same message to Democrats that the Tea Party sent to Republicans – do what we tell you to do or loose – but beside the fact that progressives and the left in general are moribund, that assumes that the Tea Party in question is telling them to do what the PTB want to or are willing to hear.
Or maybe for the Democrats their appeal is becoming “more selective.”
Heckfire, this all just more of “The Right Using Paid Commenters to Manipulate Public Opinion And Trash Free Speech.”
The only ones who can beat that low are the republicans.
Few voters like the Democratic party but since the Republican party is batshit crazy people are either staying home or voting for the candidates least in need of a straight jacket.
The parties have nobody to blame but themselves for this. The have done such a great disservice to the citizenry that people are demanding a change.
Time to bring Fine Gael to America.
Darren, my Husband would agree with that beings he is a Scotch Irish Warrior type. He is kind of like Aridog I guess….. 🙂
happypappies – the Scotch Irish are unwanted invaders of Ireland. They need to return to their own country.
Paul Schulte, – he has never been to the country and also has the blood of Romany in him and likes to consider himself a Warrior Poet. Suffice it to Say I am aware of the history of the region but thank you for correcting me anyway. 🙂
“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”
George Washington
This has nothing to do with ideological choices. It is instead reflective of the fact that people increasingly believe that neither major political party is prepared to work for the interests of those who do not write large checks. And those beliefs are well-founded.
I read somewhere that the Obama administration ordered 34 million race cards IIRC. I expect they will be played before the election.
Squeeky Fromm
Girl Reporter
squeeky – the green cards are for after the election. Obama does not have the balls to do it before, but there are several nuclear options he is planning as he goes out the door.
The last I heard, Congress had an approval rating behind cockroaches.
My Husband(s) usually voted Democrat back in the day of the Labor Union
Support among women has dropped for Democrats. They are losing their base.
