A series of videos of Baptist pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona have gone viral as he talks about the solution of AIDS being the exterminations of all homosexuals and bisexual citizens. He explained that AIDS could be solved by Christmas with a simple holocaust for homosexuals. The videos are below.
Anderson takes off on this sermon to recognize “AIDS Awareness Day.” That led to his sermon entitled “AIDS: The Judgement of God” where he explains that Leviticus 20:13 compels the faithful to kill gay, lesbians, and bisexuals. He explains that, in his reading of the section, “I actually discovered the cure for AIDS.” Here is the thrust of his solution:
“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them.”
Anderson added
“And that, my friend, is the cure for AIDS. It was right there in the Bible all along — and they’re out spending billions of dollars in research and testing. It’s curable — right there. Because if you executed the homos like God recommends, you wouldn’t have all this AIDS running rampant.”
What is chilling that Anderson refers to how many kids are in the audience as he spews this hateful sermon, including teaching them that “all homos are pedophiles” and screaming “No homos will ever be allowed in this church as long as I am pastor here.”
Anderson previously attracted attention by explaining why women have to be entirely silent in church. Not even an amen:
If your stomach can take it, here is the full sermon:

Stupid is as stupid does…it appears that this “man” is…stupid. Judge lest ye be judged, pastor.
Max-1,
You should be aware there are some in this blog that believe your rights should be up to the will of the majority in this country. She knows who she is. It’s those people that are the threat to the rights LGBT and every other citizen in this country. You can ask her but you might get 20 different responses.
Oh
FYI
Religious Fundemental Right Wing nut job, Tony Perkins is a regular feature on FOXNews(R). That’s where liberals find these people…
For all of you that have previously been aware of these men; did you come out of the womb with that knowledge? I ask simply because you seem to not have any tolerance for people that were unaware; as if that somehow makes them supportive of their actions. I have seen no one on this thread that has said, “hey, I’ve never heard of Anderson, but I really like his work”.
Religiously based homophobia in America continues to be exported by Right Wing nut jobs…

Max-1 – I live in Arizona, not too far from his parish and I have never heard of him. Maybe he is more famous in liberal circles.
= = =
Just like how Hitler was popular among the German Jews…
Max-1 – that comparison is not apt. A comparison to Rev. Wright and liberals might have been better. 😉
Pogo
You’re intentionally missing the point.
My point is to stress how the CDC makes exceptions for promiscuous “straight” population and refuses to stigmatize “straight” people based on a broad scope of generalized sexual behavior. Even the CDC refuses to bridge that gap, as have you.
Are you seriously saying that a gay couple is more likely to infect a blood supply that is regularly tested after ever donation than a straight person who just slept with the third booker this week?
Do you even realize that the CDC and blood centers can not scream out “gay blood”, just infected blood, be it from a donor who is straight or otherwise? It is a double standard policy that propagates the stigma against presumed “unclean” gays…
Say Pogo,
You don’t know my medical history or sexual history, however if you were in a life/death situation and my blood type matched yours and all you knew about me was that I am a gay male, would you choose death over life just to ease your fears of “gay blood”?
Max-1 – we know, statistically, that a committed couple, regardless of sex is less likely to contract HIV. We also know that a sexually promiscuous person, regardless of sex, is more likely to contract HIV, We know that a promiscuous gay male is statistically more like to contract HIV than a promiscuous gay female.
Personally, since I had two gay brothers who died from AIDS, to answer your question, I would want you tested before the blood transfusion. That has nothing to do with you personally, only my own safety.
Or, how about Louis Farrakhan on Ferguson:

Gee. Wonder who has a bigger audience??? Anderson or Farrakhan???

but it appears that many commenters view any criticism of any ostensibly Christian views to constitute an assault on Christianity itself
Really? Who on this thread has expressed this thought. It seems to me that uniformly the commenters are disgusted by this pastor’s words and do not consider him a representative of Christian thinking. To try to make him such a thing is ridiculous.
I don’t view criticism of this pastor or even of this Lively guy, as an assault on Christianity. I do view any attempts to lump everyone into stereotype and to misrepresent statements and to call commenters liars when they state they do not have any knowledge of Lively, as an assault, not only on individual commenters, and on our intelligence, but also against civility.
We can civilly discuss the problems presented by this guy’s mindset and what people who care about Christianity should do about it. Similarly to the way that moderate Muslims should consider treating the radical elements amongst their own sect. Trying to make out that all people who are Christian have fundamentalist beliefs or that all Muslims are radical terrorists is disingenuous and setting up straw-men to argue against.
Really. There are a lot of issues that I don’t care one way or the other about. Lots. Many. What homosexuals or anyone else does in the privacy of their own homes and in their own lives is pretty much on the top of my G.A.F. list. Get married. Who cares? The key words there are: in the privacy of THEIR OWN homes and in THEIR OWN lives. Butt out of mine. Keep out of the schools. Stop pushing your lifestyle into my personal space. Stop trying to force other people to accept you or your lifestyle if they don’t want to.
When it comes to blood……unless I’ve opened an artery or it is a dire emergency, I plan to bank my own blood if I need surgery. I don’t trust the blood supply for all of the reasons listed above in several comments.
He lost control of the comic strip after about 1964. His wife did more and more. His mind began to fail him. Then his eyes. The his hands.
“And, BTW, Pogo was a highly intelligent liberal.”
You mean Walt Kelly.
Pretty smart. Kennedy Democrat.
His wife was the lefty.
I’ve read everything he’s ever written, and found him to try hard to steer clear of taking a position in politics, except fighting Joe McCarthy (who it turns out was right about communists in the gubmint) and fighting the KKK.
He made fun of politicians as a whole.
“And, in my opinion, it is also false.”
What is false?
Given the preceding paragraph, what does ‘it’ refer to?
Pogo:
Tuning out has increasingly become a favored response of commenters on this blog, and it is unfortunate. The topic presented by this story is an important one, but it appears that many commenters view any criticism of any ostensibly Christian views to constitute an assault on Christianity itself.
So let’s get down to brass tacks. The subject of the story is a particular religious view of homosexuality. It is a view shared by fundamentalists of all stripes, Christian and Muslim alike. From what I can tell, the only difference in viewpoint relates to the degree of punishment which ought to be meted out to homosexuals. I do not hate Christians or Christianity, nor do I hate Muslims or Islam. But I happen to believe that theology as a legitimate field of study is dynamic. I also happen to believe that there is a lot of bad theology out there, and that it has increasingly infected the body politic.
Religion uniformed by reason is hollow myth. Reason uninformed by science is hollow speculation. In my view fundamentalism selectively rejects both reason and science, and we daily see the results in public policy debates regarding some of the most important issues of the day, including human sexuality, climate change and evolutionary biology.
Mr. Anderson’s importance is not measured by his flock of “toothless converts,” whatever ad hominem point that description was intended to make. But his view of biblical interpretation as an exercise in reciting memorized verses from the King James bible virtually defines Christian fundamentalism, and it represents the opinions of millions of people. And, in my opinion, it is also false.
And, BTW, Pogo was a highly intelligent liberal.
Mike A – fundamentally I disagree with your stand on fundamentalism. I do accept that you thought it through, I just think you need to spend more time on it before you go public.
And how do you know Pogo is a highly intelligent liberal? Do you know Pogo personally? Socialize? Belong to the same fraternity?
I have a strong desire to send money to a stranger overseas.

@Pogo
If you want some scary numbers, here are some from the CDC, and that don’t stand for Christians for Disease Control:
http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/risk/gender/msm/facts/
Back of the envelope figuring means that 79% of 38,825 is 30,672 guys who have sex with guys getting HIV.
30,672 divided by 365 = 84 HIV infected gay guys a day, or 3.5 per hour.
Sooo, if you really care about gay men, which of these do you warn them about:
1.Nutty preachers;
2.Having sex with other gay guys.
Squeeky Fromm
Girl Reporter
The above study covered that. Gay men have more partners and unprotected sex and more HIV than heterosexuals. Gay sex is inherently riskier, infection-wise. “140-fold higher risk”, to put a number on it.
Blood donation risk reduction doesn’t care about “social stigma”, just risk reduction, although I am sure the SJWs will fix that soon enough.
Pogo
Address the issue about straight promiscuity and the lack of social stigma instituted in Federal policy versus the disease rates of that demographic compared to a monogamous sample.
