“I Just Recorded It Because It Was Funny”: CTA Seeks Two Men Shown Slapping Around Elderly Man On Subway

6198432_GThe Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is looking for at least two young men who slapped and taunted an elderly man for fun on the blue line this week. The video below is incredibly depressing to watch the sadistic fun of the young men. The person taking the video was identified when he captured his own image in the video. He later told the media that “I don’t know why they did what they did. I just recorded it because it was funny.” You can watch it and determine for yourself how funny it is. If your reaction is like mine, you will be left with a chilling notion of kids who seem to lack any sense of humanity.

imagesThe videographer who calls himself A-T-L did not see anything wrong with enjoying the misery of an old man or two thugs abusing an old man. He even suggested that he had it coming to him: “We didn’t do nothing. We got on the train and he was saying some racial slurs. I don’t know why they did what they did. I just recorded it because it was funny.”

The CTA is asking passengers to help identify the men in the video.

  1. happypappies,
ELs DL did what way too many do; they read the headline and all of a sudden they are experts. These are horrific crimes and we’ll never hear about them I guess because our White Privilege doesn’t allow for the social outrage.

Thank you for the follow up comments.

    1. Olly – you are welcome – I am outraged. I have been following “The Last Refuge” on that Jessica Chambers case since the beginning and those people follow it exhaustively.

  2. I was lazy and referred to Olly’s link as proof of vile hateful deeds committed by whites on blacks and I should’ve known better it coming from Olly. So, ignore my reference to that link.

    1. Els DL said to “Check Ollys source—–“be used to label the ‘attacks’ by Michael Brown on either the shopkeeper or the police officer. Should you have a trusted source which can prove this was a hate crime, I’d be interested in reading about it. I personally don’t feel like I can take a stand in the case of Michael Brown and lean toward the conservative view that he behaved like a thug. My opinion in above comments was to point out that black people, esp. black youth, aren’t the only ones who have lost the ability to humanize others. Check Olly’s source.

What is considered a trusted source? Certainly not 20-year old DeAndre Joshua who was found dead November 25th yards away from the location Michael Brown was killed in Ferguson, Missouri. DeAndre Joshua, 20, fits the social profile of an eye-witness who gave a police/FBI statement and testified before the Grand Jury in the Mike Brown shooting case. He was an employed black male, with no history of drug use or illicit behavior. He was also a friend of Dorian Johnson who is currently under protection.

He was shot and torched also. I find it interesting that Dorian Johnson is afforded Federal Custody. There was a tweet also if you are not too “lazy” to look it up where Dorian was crying about his “brother ” being killed and that he was messed up and he gotta go.”

I also find it interesting that these lynchings seem to closely follow the inhumanity of the ME and all of a sudden we no longer pay attention to the and they have virtually disappeared from the star placement on the news.

Several of the eye-witnesses, who gave honest testimony to the Grand Jury, were, according to their own statements, warned immediately after the shooting to keep their mouths shut. All of the eye-witnesses were African American. If you read the reports the overwhelming sense of fear about speaking the truth is overwhelming

“I was lazy and referred to Olly’s link as proof of vile hateful deeds committed by whites on blacks and I should’ve known better it coming from Olly. So, ignore my reference to that link.”

I am not willing to ignore it. This is henious murder and it would be racist for me to ignore it and eccuse it. It is not okay because the victims are white and the assailents are black……… 🙁

Robin and Mani Aldridge — Just last week, a beloved special needs teacher and her high school junior daughter from Charlottesville Virginia were beaten before they were burned in a house fire. Police arrested a black man named Gene Everett Washington and charged him with two counts of first-degree murder.

Michael Brewer – 15-year-old Michael from Miami had burns over 60% of his body after three black classmates poured alcohol on him and set him on fire. All three are serving time in prison.

Allen Goin — A 13-year-old from Kansas City, his two black teen attackers put him in a bear hug, poured gasoline on him and set him on fire saying, “This is what you get, white boy”.

Gabriela Penalba — A 23-year-old teacher in Knoxville Tennessee was set on fire by a 15-year-old black student. She briefly turned her back to the class when the student lit her hair and shirt ablaze.

Kathryn “Kit” Grazioli — Colorado Springs firefighters found Kit’s 87-year-old body burning on a trail after a nearby resident called to report the fire. Officers arrested a black 21-year-old, Marcus Smith, and charged him with 1st degree murder. Kit was a deacon at her church and loved by the community.

Jonathan Foster — In Houston, Mona Nelson, a black 44-year-old woman abducted and killed 12-year-old Jonathan with a blowtorch on Christmas Eve, later dumping his body in a ditch. She was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison. The story was getting mainstream media coverage until they arrested a black woman.

Kenneth Athey — Beaten with a hammer, stabbed, doused with chemicals and set on fire, 87-year-old Kenneth survived to testify against his black male attacker.

Luke Fleischman — a black teenager, who was prosecuted as an adult and sentenced to seven years for the hate crime, set the 18-year-old on fire while sleeping on a bus in San Francisco.

Richard Michael Carter — Two black brothers were arrested for shooting and burning Richard, a father from South Carolina.

Flo “Violet” Parker –The 67-year-old homeless woman from California was set on fire by a black man as she slept on a bench.

Nancy Harris — The 76-year-old grandmother was killed when a black man set fire to her while she was working at a convenience mart. She was loved in her Texas hometown and known as Grandma to everyone.

Melinda McCormick — A black woman and two black men beat and burned Melinda to death.

Jimmy Sanders – Shot and burned after stopping to help two black men, Erik Ellis, 28, and Malcolm Melton, 22, with car trouble. “He didn’t answer his phone. I called about eight or nine times. About an hour after he wouldn’t answer I got really, really nervous and upset,” Betty Sanders said. Jimmy was 65 and also from Mississippi, where Jessica Chambers was just burned.

Raymond Vasholz — Raymond died after his black neighbor, Terrance Hale, attacked him and his wife and set fires. Elizabeth and Raymond were married 58 years.

  3. Paul Shulte, from all the evidence there wasn’t anything which could be used to label the ‘attacks’ by Michael Brown on either the shopkeeper or the police officer. As usual, you completely ignore what I wrote about the right wing church, media and politicians. I know it’s difficult to read that there are plenty of white people who commit hate crimes and it’s difficult to read that there are depraved people on the right. And since you bring up thuggish behavior, say, what do you feel about the thugs who brought this country into the 2008 depression; those in banks and other financial institutions who have been rewarded again in the latest budget proposal. Is a thug someone black who steals and flips off a police officer, yells and slams an older man over the head? Is a thug possibly a man or woman of any color who knowingly deceives, steals and bribes the American citizens to the tune of millions upon millions and drive many to financial ruin? Or could it be that a thug is a person who tortures others to the tune of millions of dollars?

    1. This is the problem with trying to discuss anything with liberals. “What about 2008…” What does that have to do with slapping an old man around on a subway? This is how children react “Bobby did it first…”

So, about the subway, is there a crime being committed on tape? Yes. If the old man had been black, do you think these kids would have knocked him around? Don’t know. But, we do know those kids are jerks and should be charged with a crime. I would prefer, if found guilty or a plea deal, it be in public service. Perhaps at a senior facility they should do chores with a sign on them that says “I knock old people around on the subway.” After their sentence, work with them to go to school or get a job. Work with the family. There’s often a grandparent who wants them clean.

I don’t want them forever criminalized by going to jail. They come out different people and become worse criminals. Then, maybe, their lives might exclude crime.

    2. ElsDL What is that? A euphemism for lsd? 🙂 Anyway, your argument sucks. It has a million holes in it. That recession has been a long time coming from bad investments in the Federal Housing Authority. It is not any one Bankers Fault but the fault of many Liberal Senators who want to give away loans to people who cannot afford them so they can be “equal” to everyone else.

Guess what? In a Capitalistic Democracy where there is Free Enterprise and the Government Stays out of it, there is no monetary equality. If you want to make more money, you have to work for it.

If the Bankers get caught committing fraud, like Bernie Madoff for 150 years, they pay the price. He brought the house down with his massive Ponzi scheme in 2008 and you probably didn’t even know that. Why don’t you do some research before you start whining about this being the fault of all the rich people, Did you ever stop to think that if it weren’t for those “rich people” there would be nothing at all to eke out a living with?

I am tired of hearing about it. I am a woman and I never got my civil rights and equal pay and you don’t hear me whining and punching out people on subways because they have a double standard do you?

    3. And Furthermore Els DL are you a resident of Ferguson or have you ever been because I was for 55 years and I can assure you that you have no Idea what you are talking about.

Are you such a naive young fool as to believe everything to fuel your hatred from the TV set? Don’t you realize that all of interviews Liberal and Conservative have an agenda and it’s to manipulate the audience?

How does it feel to be manipulated into a victim of circumstance 😉

    4. Els DL – first, don’t try to change the subject. However, if Brown’s parents and half of Ferguson can call the shooting of Brown racist, I can call the attack on the Asian shop keeper racist and the attack by Brown on the white officer racist. I am nothing if not egalitarian. What is good for some is good for all.

  4. “Did you know that there’s been a massive uptick in white thugs setting black folks on fire, yet the media has been virtually silent on this horrendous subject? Sure, we all have heard of Darren Wilson’s shooting Michael Brown, but there has been no coverage of the aforementioned. Like in zero… nada… nothing… zilch.”

  5. For anyone with lots of time and the fortitude to watch it, the TV series “The Wire” is one of the most realistic, albeit dark and brutal, insight into the all the various power structures (Baltimore) trying to stay ‘on top’: the politicians, the church, the media, businesses. Add to that the issues of race, gender, sexual identity and unfettered bribery and ask yourselves this: do black males (and to a lesser extent, females) have an honest chance to get a piece of the American pie/dream? No, with the exception of a lucky few. The circumstances in which so many have been born. The SC rejected the notion that racism is still alive in the US. This right there is one of the most shameful lies of all times coming out of that ‘revered’ institution.

  6. My oh my, the sanctimonious older crowd is out en masse here. Why don’t you all look at the thug culture within the white dominated media, church and political party for a change? Last I checked I found Evangelical pastors, radio personalities, TV pundits, writers etc. calling, among other things for: *the lynching of Pres. Obama
*the jailing and stoning of gays
*calling women who support access to birth control sluts
*considering torturers within the CIA and their contractors patriotic Americans and to continue the use of said torture
*obliterating the Bay Area or other cities into oblivion because ‘too many liberals’
    *the killing of Jews
    *calling climate change a hoax
*calling the millions of poor Americans plain lazy

The list of vileness emanating from the rightwing is long, but, hey, why not pick on just the so-called Democratic voters and the left-wing liberals instead?
BTW: Just a few days ago, two white women were sentenced to jail for being coconspirators in the brutal killing of an unarmed homeless black man; it was deemed a hate crime. For every dehumanizing black person there is a dehumanizing white one out there. If we allow ourselves to keep on the blinders, our sight will continue to only be focussed on a group of people whom we have perhaps always felt were less human than us?

    1. Els DL – can we consider the attack by Michael Brown on the shop keeper a hate crime or the attack by Michael Brown on Officer Wilson a hate crime? How about the concerted effort by the mob in attendance to form a racist narrative a hate crime? How about the continued bleating of sympathy for a black thug? Is that a hate crime?

  7. The fact the person recording it thought it was funny turns my stomach. That young man needs counseling, would he be OK if an elderly member of his family was treated that way? Young black men are going to be claiming racial slurs whether said or not. All government program dollars they receive, or their family claiming them as dependent, should be stopped. Some form of public service. Jail just puts them with other criminals instead of teaching them a lesson.

  8. @Fred Chesterton ~ The FBI just released the latest hate crime statistics and it doesn’t look good for the African American community, which is portrayed as America’s biggest victim. In 2013 24.3% of all hate crime offenders were African Americans. According to the last census, African Americans make up 12.6% of the population. That means that African Americans commit hate crimes at nearly double the rate of their population percentage.

Now let’s compare that to white Americans: The FBI reports that 52.4% of hate crime offenders were white Americans. Keep in mind that the FBI considers Hispanics as white Americans so the percentage of actual white American hate crime offenders is likely much lower. In any case, non-Hispanic white Americans make up 63.7% of the US population. Throw in the Hispanics and it’s 72.4%. Either way, white Americans commit hates crimes at a rate lower than their population percentage.

My source – FBI statistics below, now who treats who like what again?

    http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/hate-crime/2013/topic-pages/offenders/offenders_final

    1. Msjettexas – the FBI underreports hate crimes by blacks, so the numbers are probably significantly higher.

  9. @Fred Chesterton ~ I bet you want to arrest Kevin Vickers for a war crime for shooting a terrorist and saving the Parliament too, don’t you? kookoo kookoo

  10. As a Canadian who can watch the madness unfold from an objective and distant stance, this is nothing more than a direct result of and the fruits of the ‘Great American Way’, as the venerable Mr. Chomsky stated, African Americans have been on the North American continent since the 1600’s yet have only had marginal gains in personhood in the last 3 decades…..Think about it. you treat someone as less than a person for almost 500 years, how do you expect them to act. As with Canada and it’s treatment of the First Nations Peoples, the U.S. of A., in fact, the North American ‘settlers’ will be viewed in the future in no more a favourable light than the Nazi’s were viewed after WW2. We have been blinded by deception and propaganda and continue to insist upon blaming the victims, rather than turn our powers of perception upon ourselves. Read the true, scholarly accounts of the settlement of the Americas the ask yourself why the Great White Way is ‘circlin the drain……

    1. Fred Chesterton – if you are reading Chomsky you are clearly reading the wrong author about the United States. Still, if push comes to shove we can always ‘blame Canada.’

  11. Beldar here again. On Remulak we call punks like these guys in the video “refuse” and we throw them out with the trash. Black trash, white trash, its all the same on Remulak. No rest for the wicked. Dont you folks on Earth have rifles and like the one guy said above, did not your Dog make them for a reason?

  12. Beldar here. There was another guy in the waiting room singing a song called My Boomerang Wont Come Back. He was not from Australia. It seems to me that if a boomerang wont come back that there was a defect in the way the human threw it. It seems to me that when children are evil that they get it from their parents (if they are around) and their community. So why is not the longitude and latitude of Michael Brown discussed. Who raised him? What neighborhood? Where did he go to high school? Why did he rob the store and assault the cop? Why cannot the store owner sue the parents for this behavior?

  13. There is an unsolved murder of a homeless man on lower Wacker Drive. He was killed w/ a cross bow.

When I see the inhumanity of young people like this I have the tune Singing in the Rain from Clockwork Orange playing in my head.

  14. Happypappies…no you have it right, vis a vis government computers, especially today…at least for the Army protocols. I rebelled and organized our computers and wrote databases that were useful (saved about 7 hours out of 8 to query across four global databases)..but now, post Manning and Snowden, the contracted IT clowns are paranoid … no more access to multiple global SSIDs … even with Top Secret clearance and permissions based upon a need to know. I retired and they reverted to the Jurassic period. One step forward, two back.

My point was that it IS (or was) possible to be efficient once upon a time in government, not long ago, but no more…the Db for the PPACA roll-out is a classic example.

    1. Aridog- I just wanted to cut through everything because I write late at night like that when I am busy all day with Christmas. Funny story – In 1981 doing Cash Receipts, I allowed my Computer to add up instead of adding with the adding machine also to “double check” Consequently the manager said I was “cheating” 🙂

    1. @Aridog – I am not avoiding answering your comment on the other thread. I lost it and I have been real busy…..The one about Insurance. You have to understand I troubleshot things and I saw what happened when we put things on the Computer. The way I see it the Government would not let you be organized and efficient the way you could be with the computers. You let me know if I am understanding this correctly. 🙂

  15. Max1 It takes common sense to know that it is not proper behavior to not beat up and abuse an old person and then use the “racial slur” card which is what is popular now. Francis Slay has given Carte Blanche in St Louis to violent behavior.

It is wrong to excite the human body in hate and get off on it and pretend you are not by making other excuses

Everyone knows what love and hate and right and wrong is. I am tired of excuses being made for young people not knowing the difference between right and wrong. It’s old.
