The St. Louis Police Department have released an extraordinary video this week showing how one of the many stores were looted in Ferguson, Missouri after a grand jury declined to vote indictments in the Michael Brown case. The criminals are clearly shown and the police are seeking their names to arrest them.
The video shows a collective effort to break through the door of the market and eventually how the mob forced up a boarded up window. The wave of looters captures what store owners have described as a feeding frenzy as people grabbed anything that would move.
The police released the statement that “If you can identify any of these suspects, please contact the St. Louis County Police at 314-889-2341 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477,” a message on the SLPD website reads. “All tips are anonymous.”
Oh, look, they’re all wearing hoodies. Oh, the irony . . .
Mr. Schulte
I’m sure there is not video evidence, but I’m pretty sure that they took just a bit of land from NATIVE Americans. Not to mention stealing Africans away from their families…. The patriotic posture of glorifying founding fathers only works for so long.
TJustice – I doubt either took a black from Africa, hence you are wrong there. They may or may not have taken lands from Native Americans who had taken lands from other Native Americans. You forgot they did take land from the English and Loyalists. Where is your outrage there?
Google is your friend.
Question, what is a no-go zone? They talked about them after the Paris killings, but didn’t explain them.
Doglover, these people were not starving, looking for food. These are stupid people, jeopardizing their freedom for some free chips? I think you’ll find, as they start arresting them, they get checks from us for food, housing, are on Medicaid. Obviously there are a lot of people with nothing to do all day but roam the streets. If they have children they are responsible for they are risking going to jail and what can happen to kids in our pathetic foster system.
Quit blaming anybody but the guys grabbing things they didn’t pay for. They will probably be a burden on society until death.
I would love to see you use the same charged language when discussing people with power and the “brilliant” people you associate with. I’ve never seen you call Madison or Jefferson criminals and they stole much more than these individuals.
TJustice – just what did Madison and Jefferson steal?
Takeaways from the video:
1. The store owners should have hired a private well armed militia and be armed themselves….like the Koreans in the LA riots…..since they can no longer rely on the government to protect them in a war zone. ( I see that Nick already suggested this)
2. People ARE evil, greedy. Throwing more money at the problem isn’t going to solve human nature since the evil and greedy with just divert the money to themselves and the societal problems will continue.
3. St Louis is a dead city, just like Detroit and Chicago. No Go Zones everywhere.
4. The sad thing is that there ARE many good people who live in the neighborhood who are harmed by these actions. Perhaps they should also become vigilantes and stop this moral decay.
5. I should buy more ammo.
Releasing the video was an excellent idea. I suspect that it will result in arrests.
The store owners were ASSURED the National Guard would protect them. Do folks know where the National Guard were deployed, they were in downtown St. Louis protecting the BIG CORPORATE stores. These small business people were lied to, AGAIN! They should have followed the Korean store owners in LA game plan.
Isaac, If I am editing, I delete your third sentence and then give you an ‘A’. And I remember the Hoser Riots in Vancouver. A goalie could would stopped it!
“I refuse to believe that people are evil.”
Evil people count on that error.
“This is the third time the owner has been ransacked and he now has no plans to rebuild. The result will now be one less market in this neighborhood.”
Detroit? Dead?
Ferguson? Dead.
Flint, MI? Dead.
Oakland? Dead.
Chicago? Dying.
St. Louis? Dying.
Coincidence? No.
Of course it is understandable that disadvantaged youtes steal potatoe chips and Colt 45 to feed their families.
Everyone can understand.
Doglover,
These people are not Jean Valjean. Booze may be liquid bread, but it won’t make a sandwich.
“I refuse to believe that people are evil. Mentally deficient, mentally ill, yes. Evil, no.”
Then what do you call people who commit acts of evil who are not diagnosed as mentally deficient or mentally ill? What do you call people who bomb hospitals, schools, torture, or attack weddings?
These people committed an evil. That does not make them evil incarnate. There is definitely a scale, but they still dipped their toe in the shallow end.
There are plenty of poor people who are forced to go to church food banks or accept welfare who are horrified at these criminals’ actions.
How are “looters” and “protestors” the same people?
I refuse to believe that people are evil. Mentally deficient, mentally ill, yes. Evil, no.
doglover – George Soros spent 33 million dollars supporting protestors in Ferguson. These looters did not need food, this, like rape, is an act of power.
Doglover
If you watch the videos there were people running out with booze. I am in complete agreement with society’s responsibility to address the problems of its extreme ends. The mega rich should be taxed at a much higher rate. The mega poor should have systems designed to allow or even force them to lead productive lives.
However, this has absolutely nothing to do with poverty or disadvantage. The poverty lies in the lack of values of these thugs. They are simply disadvantaged in the area of respect for their fellow man. In Vancouver, after a Stanley Cup Hockey Game loss idiots and thugs that did not even live in the city went on a rampage, looted stores, burned cars, beat up passers by, etc. It had nothing to do with anything except their desire to destroy. It took several years but most of the perpetrators have been caught, charged, and sentenced for their crimes. The police used videos and the public’s outrage. This is no different. Hunt the bums down and toss them in jail for the maximum. It is one thing to steal a loaf of bread but this rampage has nothing to do with that sort of hunger.
doglover – moral relativism at best, clueless at worst. Your comments are astoundingly off base and immature.
Takeaways from the video:
-When people are oppressed or highly disadvantaged, they have little empathy for the class they perceive as their far more advantaged oppressors.
-When people are jobless they have the time and motivation to plan and execute this type of activity.
-There’s no excuse for a community having some members so desperate that they go to this extreme to get groceries.
-The level of motivation, preparation, timeliness, courage, and expeditiousness shown here might be rerouted into constructive activity such as repair and building of national infrastructure or clean up of communities and industrial waste.
-The activities shown here are far less grievous than dropping bombs on cities, hospitals, schools, torturing people, murdering those attending weddings, funerals, and emergency rescues, imprisoning whistle-blowers, etc.
-Stealing a loaf of bread is hardly contemptible when compared to planning and implementing genocide. Let’s focus on constraining the world’s real criminals and improving the lives of the folks in this video.
These people are worse than animals.
