Just when I thought that I could not get more depressed about humanity, Fortune Magazine released its second annual list of the “extraordinary men and women.” The greatest female leader? Taylor Swift. Not German Chancellor Andrea Merkel. Taylor Swift. She was just two below Pope Francis.
Fortune Magazine selected those people who “are transforming business, government, philanthropy, and so much more.” The list was (1) Apple C.E.O. Tim Cook, (2) European Central Bank president Mario Draghi, (3) People’s Republic of China president Xi Jinping, (4) Pope Francis, and (5)India prime minister Narendra Modi. Then at 6 comes Taylor Swift according to Fortune.
Fortune based its ranking on the fact that Swift “the highest-paid woman in the music business.” After all what has Merkel done? She does not have a single POPS song to her credit.

As I get older (I will be 31 in a few weeks!) I am beginning to think that we can not govern ourselves. I do not think our population is able to resist the constant manipulation of our opinions that is going on. The folks with whatever agenda are getting Bernay’s stuff down to a fine art. Add to that the natural tendency of people to just say, “Screw all the rules! I wanna par-tay and have a good time” and you have the worst elements all coming together.
Without a religious norm to keep things in line, civilization will probably go to pieces over the next half dozen or so generations. And the anti-civilization people like Ingannie will do their best to destroy the fabric for whatever ungodly reasons they have.
Sooo, without a good little fascist dictator or communist tyrant or Muslim theocrat to come along and clean stuff up, we will slowly degenerate into a third world country, and then a fourth world country, etc. But, I will be long dead by then.
A really good deep long lasting financial depression or widespread nuclear war or huge natural disaster might slow down our descent, but that is hardly worth looking forward to. An outlier nation might get its poop in one sock, and conquer the rest of us, but it would have to be a major power like Russia, China, Europe, or India. America is already lost.

The true intent of Indiana’s law… As explained by those who lobbied for it.

The cognitive dissidence is the GOP platform all the 2016 GOP hope
fullsless are rallying behind… Double entandra intended. I mean, what else do we call this wide stance of theirs? It’s as if Meghan NcCain taught them nothing!
Jim22
Incorrect. It boils down to:
Your freedoms end when they violate my Liberties.
Hillary Clinton @HillaryClinton
Sad this new Indiana law can happen in America today. We shouldn’t discriminate against ppl bc of who they love #LGBT huffingtonpost.com/2015/03/26/ind…

So who is going to vote for Hillary and even volunteer for her campaign? Cognitive dissonance in action…. Again.
Squeeky, I think it boils down to those who believe we can be self governed and make the right choices vs. those who believe that we a not capable of making the right decision without the govt. imposing laws. They try to cloud the issue with religion and LGBTQHRVD or what ever the latest acronym is.
@Ingannie
Hmmm. Let me translate “Anyone who thinks they could reason with you [Squeeky] is delusional” for you:
“Holy Crap! Squeeky is wicked smart, and fast, and her arguments are very difficult to address. She won’t just lay over and beg for mercy when I call her names. Oh, I had better not argue with her or I will get egg all over my face. . .”
You’re welcome!

Squeeky it takes only a few moments for one to realize what kind of person they are dealing with after reading a few of your comments. Anyone who thinks they could reason with you is delusional.
@Ingannie
BS, Annie. You don’t answer my questions because you would have to do some thinking as opposed to just spouting off the latest lefty talking points on stuff. Thinking can interfere mightily with smugness. Plus, thinking is kind of uncomfortable at times, and often leads to sadness. But, thanks for admitting you don’t answer my questions. That was very honest of you!

The Church of Cannabis is getting in on it, too…
The First Church of Cannabis was approved after Indiana’s religious freedom law was passed

They are using government to make laws to accommodate their bigotry. Now who wants government expansion? Why a new law to sanction bigotry?
Hopefully Blondie can get her “Toe to Toe” protected…
(and a fitting song for the way this thread derailed)

“Jimm22
Why does this scare you?
= = =
I’m sorry… who’s the one demanding the right to discriminate?
Not I. Yet, my concerns also apply to you and IN your favor.
I’ll wait for a Kosher Deli to refuse service to a Christian.
And the “RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION” outrage to follow…”
If I understand you correctly, yes the power of govt. to force it’s people to participate scares me more than the people choosing to opt out willingly. I trust people, it appears you only trust a govt. ruling it’s people.
Jimm22
You and I wouldn’t go there, but people should be left to their own to decide to or not.
= = =
A contradiction…
Let’s not go back there where people could decide whom to serve because today, they should be able to decide whom to serve… WTF? And that’s not regressive mentality?
Come again?

True enough.
