A McKinney, Texas police officer has been suspended pending review after the posting of a videotape where he draws his gun and manhandles a group of teenagers outside of a pool party. The officer has been identified as Cpl. Eric Casebolt and he is shown being verbally and physically abusive toward young people who are not clearly doing anything unlawful.
The pulling out of the gun is a rapid escalation in a call over a dispute between a mother and a girl at the party. The McKinney Police Department’s Facebook page states that officers responded to a “disturbance” at the Craig Ranch North community pool at 7:15 p.m. It added that the juveniles at the scene “do not live in the area or have permission to be there.” It further says that people failed to respond to orders and officers struggled to “gain control of the situation.”
Casebolt,40, is a 10-year-veteran and serves as a vice president of McKinney’s police union. He received an award for “Patrolman of the Year” in 2008. The Washington Post reports that he is an instructor at Executive Self-Defense and Fitness and has a website that heralds his “ strong working knowledge of human behavior” and “experience in the use of all levels of force.” As is often the case, people have collected various pictures of Casebolt though the one dressed as an Indian chief at a party seems to be the favorite. That is part of the reality of the world of social media today.

Imagine if the cops had brought candies. It’s not as ridiculous as it sounds.
Regardless of the lead up to the event seen in the attached video, the officer was out of control. The kids were milling about complying with his instructions, sitting on the grass and the curb as directed, being handcuffed or not, the kids were, during the seven minutes of the video acting responsibly.
The officer had worked up a head of steam and was venting on the kids, lecturing, swearing, and finally responding to what was obviously a remark by the girl in the yellow bikini in a totally unprofessional manner. The girl was on her way as instructed. The officer blew it by going after her and dragging her to the ground for some lip.
Police officers that negotiate the disrespect of youth as did this officer are the types that JT displays routinely slamming grandfathers to the ground and simply venting. It is one thing to explain it. explanations are important as that way police officers can take measures to get rid of the stress in other ways. However, there is no condoning what happened. The kids were lippy. You don’t slam a 13yr old to the ground for being lippy.

As an old civil rights activist, I remember all the stories that were told about the atrocities that were being perpetrated by us. All of the same old people and tactics are alive and well here I see. The story that they put out is so outlandish that it is funny, and only a FOOL could believe it. If you look on the tape one of the girls mentioned that they were there for a pool party and that they had PASSES. So somebody went to the trouble of notifying somebody at the place. In short most of you are lying bigots who will justify any crime against blacks.
The white guilt enablers are working frantically to counter the link provided by DBQ. Who will be the first to dismiss the link because of its title, conservative tree house? I have in my mind who it will be and I’ll be honest if I’m wrong.
Karen, If the vile KKK or Skinheads tried to come up w/ a plot to keep black youths in poverty and then prison they could never have come up w/ a more effective plan than the self destructive Prison Culture. Glorify drugs, subjugating women, prison, and be derisive of reading and education as “Being white.”

DBQ – great link. Eyewitnesses allege that the kids were hurling racist slurs at the residents, and that some kicked in people’s doors, robbed them, stole a truck, and crashed it. The underage party organizer makes a living hosting paid admission parties, there was alcohol and weed, they exceeded the 20 person limit with at least 100 attendees, and they did not pay for a permit for a pool party. Oh, and it’s not an all-white neighborhood but actually racially diverse. The video clip (I can only watch the first few seconds because of my internet limit), shows the party organizer pulling the hair of an adult woman, rather than the other way around. There are a series of photos showing a man approaching the cop and then reaching behind him, which precipitates the cop drawing his weapon. I was wondering why a cop would draw a firearm on teenagers, and this is a POSSIBLE explanation.
Sounds like there are a lot of allegations that need to be sorted out by . . . wait for it . . . an investigation. I think if I keep repeating it, perhaps it will subliminally penetrate the subconscious of the usual players in the race baiting.
But if past predicts future, we’ll have mobs and riots and demonstrations and marches, and then when the facts come out people will say it’s not really about TX, but about society at large, and contrary facts somehow don’t affect their message. What kind of “hands up, don’t shoot” slogan will the irresponsible activists who won’t wait for an investigation come up with now?
The daily left’s Two Minute Hate (can I get an Amen?) steers the congregation along the Necessary Path, and away from Uncomfortable Truths that might cause Sin.
Do not be bothered, brethren, by the economy, or ISIS, or the aftermath of Baltimore and Ferguson, by the unemployed blacks or pink-slipped Disney workers.

What are the chances that Ms. Rhodes or her Mom followed through on the rules for having what they advertised as a pool party? Remember that such a party is limited to 20 people so that the residents who actually live there can also use the pool.
Nick – I’m glad you mentioned that police simulator story. It was really eye opening to watch. And great post about the “Prison Culture.” You’re right that it’s not just African American kids who seem to idolize criminal and reckless behavior. “Jersey Shore” wasn’t exactly a treatise on how to become a success in life. Reality TV in general seems to be a race to the bottom, and the very phrase “family values” or values in general, is despised as old fashioned or out of touch. But without values, self respect, and responsibility, you get “Jersey Shore” behavior.
We have so many instances of this erosion of our culture – flash mob robberies, self destructive behavior, massive spending and debt, ego centric hedonism and a decline in volunteerism or otherwise caring about others.
I realize this makes me sound old, along the lines of “darn kids,” but this behavior just doesn’t seem to have been so common decades ago.
It is a shame that the bikini girl was victimized by being forced to the ground and handcuffed. Maybe she can carry around a big piece of sod to bear witness.

Jayson Whitlock calls the thug behavior, gangsta rap, sagging pants, etc. a “Prison Culture.” Virtually all of the customs, behaviors, rituals come from men who have done time. Jake Tapper did a balanced report on this today. He allowed the bikini girl and her father speak @ length. He also had on another black father who detailed how out of control the kids were and how he is ashamed of their behavior. I am an observer of human behavior. I see this type of “Prison Culture” and I see the normal black folk w/ good values w/ shame and disgust on their faces. Sometimes they speak up, more often than not they don’t. My black friends vent all the time about the difficulty they have bringing up their children in a good home only to be immersed in the “Prison Culture” as soon as they walk out the door. This cop looks like he lost his self control for a few seconds. Until we have Robocops that will occur.
This is about a culture clash not just between black and white[although some white kids buy into the “Prison Culture”], but within the black community. Good cops need to speak up about bad cops. Good Muslims need to speak up about bad ones. And the black families w/ good values need to speak up about the “Prison Culture” and how it is decimating their neighborhoods. You see, the black families w/ good values are the vast majority. Here’s the problem, when they do speak up they’re called Uncle Tom, and MUCH worse.

I don’t deal in hypotheticals; you obviously do. I want the entire story and the circumstances to be revealed; you are more than satisfied to cling to the few scraps of this encounter to prove your hatred of police. You see, we are different.
My butt is securely attached to my body, as I don’t reveal myself, like others, to fall for the bait so easily taken by you and your buddies that live vicariously through comic strips characters. I don’t know who is at fault; neither do you. The difference is that I call for a complete investigation to ferret out the truth; you simply are chomping at the bit to demonize yet one more police officer and cry fowl. Therein, I would argue, lies the rub.

I was addressing the behavior that was captured on video of one particular police officer, not that of the contextually meaningless abstraction, “law enforcement.” If you routinely argue in court against testimony and video evidence like that, you must get your butt handed to you frequently.
I didn’t ask you about virulent racist Squeeky’s hearsay contribution to the discussion, I asked you what could have happened prior to the time frame of the video that would justify in your mind Casebolt’s brutal treatment of that girl.
Are you simply too much in awe of the bravery and physical prowess of Officer Casebolt, as demonstrated in his powerful take-down of a teenaged girl in a bikini, to answer my question?
ken rogers – it makes no difference to the case that the girl was in a bikini or not other than it showed her intent to break into the pool (where she may or may not have had a right to be). What counted was her crossing the street in that same bikini and ignoring the lawful order of an officer. Basically, she was trying to escape.
