We have another alleged “honor killing” in Europe. Rokstan M. is a woman who was gang raped by three Syrian soldiers and fled for freedom in the West. Her family however treated her as unclean and guilty for being gang raped. She reportedly feared being killed by her father and brothers. The young pregnant woman was found stabbed to death and her Syrian father is believed to have fled back to Syria. Police are also seeking her brothers who are believed to have participated in the savage murder. Rokstan wrote on social media shortly before her death that “I am awaiting death. But I am too young to die.”
Rokstan was employed as an interpreter on a book project on Syrian refugees. She recounted before her death that “I was taken by three men. Ever since that time my family has regarded me as unclean. My mother and my brothers mistreat me. They say that I deserve to die.” She lived at Papatya, a crisis center for girls and young women and the director, Eva Kaiser, believes Rokstan was killed by her family “because she was no longer a virgin and was raped in Syria.”
Her body was found behind a living area for Syrian refugees in Berlin. The father appears to have fled to Turkey and likely back to Syria — leaving his wife who is under investigation in Germany. The mother denies involvement but friends of the Rokstan say that the mother threatened her and once allegedly tried to hire a hitman to kill her.
There have been at least 129 documented honor killings in Germany in the last 20 years. Police documented an average 13 honor killings a year in the country and tie the large number to the 1.5 million refugees, mainly from Muslim-majority countries.

The post clearly states she had in fact “…fled for freedom in the West.“, working in Germany as a translator for other asylum seekers.
That’s the point about Islam.

I wonder why these (sometimes) adult young women stay in the families they are so frightened of. I’m sure they must’ve heard of the honor killings, I’m sensitive to not blaming the victim, but I can’t help wonder why these young women don’t leave? Just run a way, anywhere, ask college friends, co workers, call the police, ask for asylum. I think it’s time to have safe houses, PSAs that give information about ways in which to seek a safe haven.
Inga – you are retired now, why don’t you set up a safe house in Syria for these women. I am sure you would be welcomed. The Clinton Foundation would probably front you a couple of hundred dollars.
As for this poor young woman, it is a cultural nightmare. I just read that in India there are a similar number of honor killings across the religious groups. It’s a curse to be born a woman in such societies. Until we have influence over the culture of certain ethnic groups in their home countries we can do nothing to help these poor women. I western countries that these groups are immigrants in, if they don’t assimilate properly, we’ll continue to see this happen. How to get them to assimilate is anyone’s guess. The girls and young women perhaps should have access to special counsellors in schools? A safe haven, like for abused women? Who knows what the answer is, it’s an awful terrible problem.

I remarked a few weeks ago that this massive invasion….it is not immigration…..will not turn out well. I gave it 3 months before we start seeing beheadings in Europe. I stand by that observation.

Poor lady. My heart just goes out to her. It is especially horrifying when the family that is supposed to protect her were the ones who murdered her. I just can’t wrap my head around a tradition that demands the blood of an innocent victim so they can feel good about themselves.
This is an example of why assimilation to the host country’s values and laws is so crucial for immigrants.

I would really, really like to see the women of this country rise up as one voice and denounce Sharia Law. It has no place in civil society and it certainly has no place in our country. If we are to be tolerant of all religions it would be a plus if it was not embracing laws that violate basic human rights.
And yes, for all of you armed and ready to bring on the moral equivalencies; not even close.

I get the feeling, Syrian refugee traditions and Muslim brotherhood will end up badly in Germany. The idea is to assimilate and move foreword. But they won’t. Stubborn and stiff necked.
It’s quite amazing what religious brainwashing can do to people. But it seems much easier to persuade people to engage in carnage and destruction for religious reasons than to engage in compassion and generosity for religious reasons.

Seems to me that all the death and misery that Rokstan’s family had experienced in Syria wasn’t enough for them. They had to continue on with the insanity here in Germany.
There is a backlash occurring in Germany because of Merkel’s reckless immigration policy. I am willing to have some Christians, Kurds, etc.given refuge here. Angela can save these refugees herself. Maybe she’ll get that Nobel next year.
This is why I say fear of Islam is not a phobia. It is rational to fear a religion that looks upon this type of violence as a duty. The German authorities should come down on these brothers like a ton of bricks. (Theocracy and theocrats (no matter what their religion) are dangerous to humans as are those who want to give fanatics a pass because it’s their religion!)
Immigrants, refugees and asylum seeks have a duty under international law to respect and follow the laws of the host country. If they don’t I believe they should be sent home. That is exactly want should happen to these “righteous” brothers when they are found after they spend their prison term.
