Ibn Hunter, 25, is one person that Atlantic City could do without. Hunter was arrested after he starred in a vicious video posted on YouTube where he taunts and then knocks out a 45-year-old homeless woman. The videotape below is disgusting and all the more disturbing by the utter lack of reaction of people around them.
Hunter is shown standing in front of the victim and asking her: “I ain’t gonna do what? I ain’t gonna grab you? I ain’t gonna do what?”
A person off camera joins the taunting and says: “She said you ain’t gonna smack her, dog.”
Hunter then stares into the camera and decks the woman as the cameraman yells “Bing! and “It’s over.”
The role of the cameraman should result in his arrest as well since he is actively participating in the creation of a videotape (which appears the strong motivation of Hunter). They appear joined in a common purpose to assault the woman while filming the crime.
The woman suffered severe head trauma. She was eventually upgraded to serious but stable condition.
Hunter was arrested on a warrant for aggravated assault. Not surprisingly he has a long criminal history with prior convictions for drugs and theft, including five adult convictions for burglary, robbery and drug possession. He racked up his first cocaine conviction at the age of 16.
It is not clear if an individual identified as Bdsp BroadDay was the man who filmed the crime, but police are trying to find him. BroadDay said on the web that the woman had tried to spit on Hunter.
The joy shown by Hunter in the taunting and assault of this woman should weigh heavily in my view on sentencing. I consider this type of criminal to be the most dangerous to society — someone who enjoys causing and watching the pain of defenseless individuals. It is conduct that should push a sentence to the very top of the discretionary scale for a court in my view.
@ Davidm
Well, I certainly would not take a homeless person into my home. I don’t like company and even family wears thin after a few days 🙂
However, there are, as I said, many things that a person can do to try to help. Another is to join a group that attempts to steer the homeless through the morass of government paperwork to get assistance: food stamps, subsidized housing, medicaid or medicare etc. The paperwork is staggering and difficult even for educated (and sane) people.
Transportation is a huge issue as well. Even IF the homeless person is able to get an entry level job, or needs to go to a government agency office to compile their paperwork, just getting there is a hurdle. Another group in our remote rural area has set up a shuttle bus provides some transportation for the homeless and those who are not homeless but are in a position where they cannot afford to own a car.
That was in the Harvard Law Review in 2007.

“She was homeless, how was she going to afford a gun?”
“What if I buy her one.
What if the NRA raises $50K and gave away guns to the homeless for self-protection.”

Yes indeed it is a stupid idea DBQ.
Heads up
FYI, Rosebud Sioux Tribal Council meeting steaming live now in South Dakota. Infighting is not fun.
A good many of the homeless are homeless for some serious reasons. Give these people a gun for protection? Might it not be a better idea to provide these people with shelter and some sort of job they can do?
@ Annie
Absolutely. Arming the homeless is really a stupid idea for the reasons you state. Many are mentally ill, drug addicted, and have criminal pasts. They would be robbed by the more adept criminal element immediately. A disaster in the making. A better thing would be to remove them from the circumstances where they are in danger and give them some hope for a better future and a way out.
Many won’t take the help or the path out and are chronic homeless. Many others would certainly benefit from a hand UP.
There are many things that private citizens can do to help. A few months ago, I purged my closet of all the ‘corporate’ types of clothing. Pants, suits, dresses, heels, blouses sweaters, and other work type clothing. Meaning not jeans or t shirts. There was nothing wrong with the items, just that I am retired and do not wear those things anymore. One nearby charity specializes in getting people into the job market. They train them in some basic job skills and how to interview for a position. They accept this clothing to provide work type clothing for the men and women to use in their jobs and interviewing to get jobs. It is an easy thing to do and if it helps some woman get a nice office job or other work, I’m happy to have helped.
Another thing is to make donations of toiletries for the homeless in the shelters or basic household items for who are breaking out into the work force and living in subsidized apartments. Most charities who are in this area are cash strapped and the donation of items helps them stretch their budgets.

In my experience in the Tampa Bay Area, only about 5% of the homeless are homeless by choice. The rest would gladly accept help. Very few people are willing to get involved, take them into their own homes, and give them the help they need.
By the way that last Rick is not me. Since this is the first time I’ve seen another Rick I think it appropriate for that person to add a distinction.

” Does that describe the woman in the story?”
Other than being described in the story as ‘homeless,’ you do not know either.
Agreed, but I don’t consider people living with others “homeless”.
So giving mentally ill homeless people a gun is a great idea to very intelligent people. How can it be beneficial to arm every last man and woman with a gun? The US is already the firearm capitol of the world.
Rick wrote: “So giving mentally ill homeless people a gun is a great idea to very intelligent people.”
I do NOT support giving mentally ill people guns. In the Tampa area, I once surveyed the homeless population in regards to drug and alcohol use, mental illness, etc. About 30% of them were mentally ill, so roughly 1/3rd would not qualify to own a firearm based upon mental illness.
So if the NRA and some good Americans went around and just gifted the homeless guns for self protection, oh my what could possibly go wrong?
Well, first of all…..assuming you mean handguns……that would be illegal since the ownership of those guns requires a background check and all the other rules required on Form 4473. You can buy someone a gun, but for them to possess it, it requires that they follow the law. Which of course, criminals do not do and legal gun owners do.
Second. Most of the homeless would not qualify for legal possession due to the rules regarding felonies and the other rules on the form
The Form 4473 contains name, address, date of birth, government-issued photo ID, National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) background check transaction number, make/model/serial number of the firearm, and a short affidavit stating that the purchaser is eligible to purchase firearms under federal law. Lying on this form is a felony and can be punished by up to five years in prison[2] in addition to fines, even if the transaction is simply denied by the NICS. Prosecutions are rare in the absence of another felony committed with the gun purchased.[citation needed]
The dealer also records all information from the Form 4473 into a required “bound-book”.[3] A dealer must keep this on file at least 20 years, and is required to surrender the log to the ATF upon retirement from the firearms business. The ATF is allowed to inspect, as well as request a copy of, the Form 4473 from the dealer during the course of a criminal investigation. In addition, the sale of two or more handguns to a person in a five-day period must be reported to ATF on Form 3310.4.
If a person purchases a firearm from a private individual who is not a licensed dealer, the purchaser is not required in most states to complete a Form 4473. Some states (such as California) require individual sellers to sell through dealers.
Years ago, my husband and I bought a hand gun…Lady Smith…..for a female friend who liked to go camping alone. We worried about her safety and purchased the gun for her. SHE had to go to the gun dealer and fill out the required forms. Had she declined to accept the gift, the gun shop owner said he would refund the cost of the weapon, since it was still in his inventory and void the sale. We never took possession…..it was a gift for her.

“Research shows that, compared to homeless families, homeless single adults have much higher rates of serious mental illness, addiction disorders, and other severe health problems.”
Oh goody another thread turned into a gun discussion. So if the NRA and some good Americans went around and just gifted the homeless guns for self protection, oh my what could possibly go wrong? I’ve never heard anything so brilliant.

@ Rick
Maybe she should have bopped the guy with her Obamaphone? Most homeless, and all pretend homeless own those.
Actually, many of the chronic homeless are mentally ill or mentally deficient, which makes this event even more horrific. Beating up on a mentally ill person. About the same as torturing kittens.
You might remember the famed serial killer prostitute who was homeless, Aileen Wuornos
Wournos stayed with her girlfriend. She was only homeless in the sense that she didn’t own or rent her own place. Does that describe the woman in the story?
Rick wrote: “Wournos stayed with her girlfriend. She was only homeless in the sense that she didn’t own or rent her own place. Does that describe the woman in the story?”
I don’t know the punched woman’s specific situation, but you appear to be unaware of all the facts about Wournos. She lived in the woods before meeting her girlfriend, and with her girlfriend, they stayed in motel to motel as well as in barns and in the woods depending on money availability. Such an existence is typical of many homeless women who resort to prostitution.
http://www.clarkprosecutor.org/html/death/US/wuornos805.htm
“Ty loved her and didn’t leave her; she even quit her job as a motel maid for a while and allowed Lee to support her with her prostitution earnings. Their ardor cooled, though, and money ran short-still, Ty stayed with Lee, following her from cheap motel to cheap motel, with stints in old barns or in the woods in between. Lee’s market value as a prostitute, never spectacular, fell even more. Their existence, meager though it was, became ever harder to maintain. Clearly, something had to change.”

Just so you know, the gun control fascists in the commentary are in the minority. Gallup survey
“He knew that no one was going to come to the rescue of this woman.”
Exactly. he knew she and the rest of the crowd were unarmed, so he could punch at will.
“More foot patrols would help this problem”
There would have to be continuous police presence on every street.
That is, a police state.
A typical leftist approach.
“Imagine what would have happened if the bad guy had had a gun.”
Why do you think he doesn’t?
I believe the discussion began with where was the good guy with a gun. But never mind those who want the Wild West back just want what they want.
More foot patrols would help this problem. Imagine what would have happened if the bad guy had had a gun. But never mind, we all know more guns will solve all of our problems.
The violent man feared her not, and used her as comic relief, knocking her unconscious.
He also didn’t fear anyone in the crowd since NJ , as T Neff reports, makes it almost impossible for citizens to be armed. He knew that no one was going to come to the rescue of this woman. Even IF unarmed a group of people could have stood up for her, but they didn’t and they won’t because they have been conditioned to be sheep. One unarmed person trying to stop it, would have been literally putting their own life in danger. One ARMED person could have swayed the situation.
This sociopathic individual who has been arrested AND convicted multiple times and who is obviously not going to stop his criminal activities is loosed onto the public by our broken and dysfunctional justice (ha ha ha) system. The police can’t protect us because they can’t be everywhere at once. They can’t protect us because if they did try to stop this guy….black lives matter. So, the police are backing off on even attempting to do more than the minimum, and I don’t blame them.
So, when the police aren’t there, and the public has been turned into sheep……who you gonna call.
Smith and Wesson!!!!
