We have another unnerving case of a recent convert to Islam allegedly turning quickly to involvement in terrorism. Enrique Marquez, 24, legally purchased the AR-15 rifles that his neighbor San Bernardino gunman Syed Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik used to kill 14 people and injure 21 others. Police say that former security guard Marquez had recently converted to Islam and was part of the planning for the attack but got cold feet after the arrests in a nearby town of terrorism suspects in an unrelated case. He will initially face gun charges since he transferred the weapons to the couple after serving as the purchaser.
Marquez is also related to Farook by marriage. He married the sister-in-law of Farook’s older brother. Marquez and and his new wife, Mariya Chernykh, listed their address on the marriage license at the same Corona home where Syed Raheel and Tatiana Farook live. He also converted and had gone to a few services at the local mosque. Just seven months ago, Marquez was attending punk rock concerts. He was working at local Wal-Mart, which has since fired him.
Law enforcement officials say that Farook and Marquez had discussed carrying out attacks in the Los Angeles area in 2012. executing an attack somewhere in the Los Angeles area in 2012, but decided not to do so after four people were arrested in nearby Riverside County in an unrelated terror case.
Marquez checked into a mental health facility after the attacks in San Bernardino. It will be interesting to see if the policy will seek confidential notes from that mental health visit. In the Menendez brothers murder case, police used the notes of the therapist against them at trial. L. Jerome Oziel was later accused of violating confidentiality and stripped of his license in 1997.
The rapid conversion and alleged radicalization of people like Marquez makes the task of law enforcement all the most difficult. It also shows the folly of Trump’s plan to simply bar all Muslims from entry into the United States. A terrorist is willing to kill innocent people. He clearly will not be troubled in saying that he is a Quaker if needed to enter the country. Moreover, these groups have ready made recruits within the country, particularly among the mentally unstable in the population.

The radio said that Marquez and Farook’s brother married gorgeous Russian sisters who look like they are way out of their league. There have been questions raised about the sisters, if it was a green card marriage or radicalization, or what.
A lot of Latinos have called in to the radio saying they hope Marquez does not turn out to be Mexican and a blight on their community.
There was also discussion about motives for checking in on a 5150 hold. Apparently, law enforcement is prevented from interviewing psych patients during that 3 day hold. Was it a pre-planned delay technique to give him time to plan his defense, or did he just freak the heck out with the reality of his decisions?
Violent extremis is spreading, and it’s concerning to anyone rational. So sad.
This also illustrates that gun laws cannot physically prevent a lawful buyer from selling a weapon the black market to an unlawful buyer. There is no bubble that explodes and surrounds Bob before he sells his pistol for cash to Steve. There are legal consequences for doing so, but if someone plans to be a suicide terrorist, it’s not much of a discouragement.
I feel so bad for Farook’s innocent little baby girl. I hope she goes to a loving family and never has to be around that kind of hatred again. She was just thrown away by her parents, who craved hate and violence more than they loved her, or were willing to honor their responsibility for her.
It’s also coming out that Farook was radicalized before he met Tafsheen.

Regarding Muhammed’s Farewell Message, there are slight variations due to translation from the original Arabic. But they all convey the same message. Here is one that can be found right now on lastprophet.info:

I once read a study that said that people who covert to Judaism for purposes of marriage will virtually always drop out and return to the faith (or lack of faith) that they were raised with, should the marriage end by divorce, death, etc. On the other hand, it said that people who convert to Catholicism are the most likely to stay with that religion. The study did not include Islam, so I’m wondering what the statistics are on Westerners who “convert” or accept Islam; how many of them stay with the faith and whether it matters how they came to it. I would assume that a person who adopted Islam after a period of study would be more likely to stay than one who adopted the faith for marriage, or perhaps more impulsively at the urging of a friend, which is what Enrique’s family is suggesting.
The witness said “three men with athletic builds.” Well, we know that one was a female, and they were wearing masks and black military style fatigues, so she probably assumed they were all men. But I thought it interesting that she noted “athletic builds” because two of Enrique’s friends said he was an “avid bicyclist” and was hoping to join the Navy. So it sounds like he would have been described as athletic. If he was one of the shooters, he’s “toast,” as they say. He’ll likely get the death penalty. An FBI source told the L.A. Times that Enrique is “fully cooperating.” Which means, singing like a bird in hopes of saving his own neck, haha. There were additional arrests today and the FBI is searching a lake, possibly all based on information provided by the now very scared Enrique. What a dope.

Tom, am not so sure…I think Trump’s inanities will cost him in the end, but I suspect it would benefit the republican who would surge last. Right now it seems to be Ted Cruz. he is a much more skilled pol than the others, and he has the support of the evangelicals, taking it away from Ben Carson. \
