A 48-year-old taxi driver in England was facing a long prison sentence after Claire Emma Carr, 20, accused him of sexual assaulting her. The driver however turned out to have a camera system or he could have been convicted based solely on the testimony of Carr. While she was prepared to send him away for years and ruin his life and the lives of his family, she will be jailed for only 12 weeks.
Carr told police that the driver picked her up in Camelford Close, Bransholme. She told police that the driver made sexual statements to her and then stuck his hands down her pants. She said that she screamed and ran off.
The police came to arrest him and the driver told them about the camera system. The film showed them barely speaking except for noting that a bicyclist was knocked of his bike. She paid the fare and got out.
Carr pleaded guilty but is only facing 12 weeks for attempting to use the police and the courts to destroy the life of an innocent man. That does not strike me as sufficient punishment for such an act. I would think that this would warrant a year in jail.

I’d send her over to the Sharia Court in London to sort this thing out. Since they love Leftism in Britain so much, why not let the ultimate result of Britain’s Leftism, the promulgation of Islam, and Islam’s authoritative body, have the final say on her fate?
I agree with Steveg and Nick on this one. Fabricating accusations appears to be some sort of sick trend now. Apparently we all need some sort of Big Brother to protect ourselves from the unhinged who have a pen and too much time on their hands. Having a camera in all car service, from taxis to Uber, does seem like a good idea for both customers and drivers.
Was this woman given any psychiatric evaluation?
The woman has a problem. Mental, or otherwise, she should serve longer and only be released when a Psychiatrist releases her. Can the taxi driver sue her? A stiff financial burden should be required. An amount equal to the driver’s loss of income if found guilty and the financial strain on his family. Unusual for a taxi driver to install a camera. Nick markets these cameras, so spread the word here for taxi drivers. Someday we’ll all have cameras installed in our bodies. We see multiple shots of the same person from business location cameras. Why did England remove some CCTV’s? Cameras to prove guilt, and innocence, seem appropriate.
Her time in hard prison must (not should) fall within the range of penalty for conviction of kidnapping and holding someone prisoner against their will for twenty years. I would imagine about twenty years, but that’s just a guess.
The notion of mental “therapy” I find offensive, especially considering that so-called science is anything but, with multiple therapies that sometimes contradict each other. At a convention not many years ago, the industry itself (in the US) agreed there is no scientific proof that any of it works. Some so-called “therapies” cause harm to patients.
Psychotherapy is the only “science” where success and/or failure to meet a certain goal is measured by the metric of asking the patient/subject: “Did you feel better after (X) therapy?” “Do you think you benefited from (X) therapy?” With medical science, one is able to objectively measure the absence of a disease and/or the healing of a broken bone.
Psychotherapy teaches that a person’s mental health improves by “talking” about a “repressed” bad memory. Science has more recently proved this so-called “therapy” can and does cause harm to certain people.
If you don’t believe the following, do your own research: a scientific test has confirmed that eastern type meditation (widely praised and recommended by many so-called “therapists”) can and does directly cause depression in some patients. Someone tell T’Pol from Start Trek Enterprise!
If she had succeeded it would have been tantamount to murder. The man’s life would have been completely ruined and he was innocent. She should be charged and sentenced at the level of attempted murder. 12 weeks is ludicrous, even in Jolly Old.

All men, particularly young men in college, need body cams. Of course there needs to be stiffer penalties for this heinous act. She needs to do 2-3 years.
I’m wondering if her motive was to prevail on a false civil suit. Nothing else makes sense. I would give her the same sentence she would receive for attempted insurance fraud, probably two years.
Everyone today should know that its common for people to have hidden video cameras everywhere.

It should be a felony of some type, such as obstruction, filing a false police report, etc. Minimal jail time (at least here in the States for lack of space), if any, if it’s her first offense, but the felony should not be subject to reduction or expunction: the public has a right to know about her public past without it being changed or erased from the record.

A mandatory psych evaluation and the appropriate associated treatment for the obvious mental disorder, which caused this loon to lash out and fabricate a crime involving an innocent man, should accompany the sentence of three months in jail, which is far too short. I strongly suspect that the court would’ve required a more extensive punishment and a far lengthier sentence had the victim not merely been some no-name cabbie. Unfortunate, but true.
