Advocacy groups will sometimes compete for members by moving to the far extreme of an issue. As we have discussed, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is a good example. NARAL Pro-Choice has proven itself equally extreme in its message at times. The recent video parody entitled “Comedians in Cars Getting Abortions” is a good example. The video makes fun to seeking an abortion and refers to children as if they virtual vermin.
NARAL Pro-Choice released the Internet video as a parody of Jerry Seinfeld’s popular web show “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.” It stars actress Alice Wetterlund from HBO’s “Silicon Valley” and standup comic Nato Green. When asked why she wanted an abortion, Wetterlund says “I want an abortion because my body is doing a thing right now, that is not incubating a person, and I would like it to continue doing that thing.” She then points with disgust to nearby children and says that a child just slapped his father in the face. Wetterlund declares “Yea, we don’t need more of this in the world” and Green replies “Good point.”
If pro-life advocates wanted a promotional video, NARAL just gave it to them.
I really don’t care about Gandhi’s thoughts on anything. He’s just another dead politician who has been overly lionized to the point where most of what we hear is myth. His views on abortion mean nothing to me. Did he form his opinion on abortion in between sex bouts with his two teenaged grand nieces?
You can compare me to ISIS all you like. It’s just some sophomoric attempt at insult. It’s a false comparison.
It works like this. “Do you like dogs? You do? Well, Hitler liked dogs too so, if you like dogs you’re just like Hitler.” There. See how that works? Even you can grasp that concept. Anyway, I would say nice try but, it really wasn’t.
@groucho
Yes, I am sure you eat dead babies for lunch! Why I am not surprised that you don’t find the images shocking? I bet a few decades back that somebody like you could have been forced to clean up a concentration camp and would not have bothered them a bit.
For other people trying to understand the mental sickness of some death obsessed people, I suggest the 2 volume series of Male Fantasies by Klaus Theweleit. Amazon has it.

@Squeaky, that’s one hell of a photo.
Wouldn’t be cool if at the end they reach their destination (a clinic) and the airbags did go off and blow both of them through the back window? Now that’s a Toyota moment.
“Try using your shock images on someone who might be affected by it.”
Pro-abortioners are desensitized to inhumanity, just like ISIS.
In face they revel in it.

@KCF
Except, for “God” to be correct he would actually have to exist. The concept of god and religion was created by men to control both other men and women.
“I live in the real world.”
Then you know science cannot answer any of our moral questions at all.
Plus, it means you hate Gandhi.
Why do you hate Gandhi?

@Squeaky
Yeah, so what? You think that’s the worst thing I’ve seen? And I’m not talking about pictures. I mean up close and personal. Try using your shock images on someone who might be affected by it.
Hitchens: God is Dead.
God: Hitchens is dead.
@KCF
You can continue to debate over the passages included in any Bronze Age Fairy tale you like. I live in the real world. I have no concern or care for any passage written in a religious tome, whatsoever. Especially the Abrahamic ones. Hitchens was right. Religion poisons everything.
@groucho
Detachment??? Oh, just look at the picture above and you will see detachment.

Well spoken, folks.
@Sqeaky
Thank you for affirming the complete inanity and detachment from reality shared by most of the virulently anti-choice wing of society. Godwin’s Law violation aside, I’m sure Horuss sleeps just fine.
“According to the Bible,”
Even the Devil quotes the Bible.
You see what you wish to see.
I am agnostic and I am pro-life and against pro-death. I could care less what any religious text says on the matter. To me ALL LIFE MATTERS!!!
Fiver, you are grossly misinterpreting those passages.
Jewish thought (Mishneh Torah and commentators) about abortion is far more complicated than you aver.
“Accordingly, abortion for “population control” is repugnant to the Jewish system. Abortion for economic reasons is also not admissible. Taking precaution by abortion or birth control against physical threat remains a mitzvah, but never to forestall financial difficulty. Material considerations are improper in this connection. In the Jewish community, today, with a conscious or unconscious drive to replenish ranks decimated by the
Holocaust, contemporary rabbis invoke not the more lenient, but rather the more stringent responsa of the earlier authorities. The more permissive decisions, they point out, were in any case rendered against the background of far greater instinctive hesitation to resort to abortion. Against today’s background of more casual abortion, rabbis are moving closer to the position associated with Maimonides and Unterman, allowing abortion only for the gravest of reasons.”
And specifically forbids postnatal murder (negating your entirely errponeous conclusion about human valuation after one month of age in the Bible references you selected):
“Once its head has emerged, it may not be touched, for we do not set aside one life for another; this is the natural course of the world
(Hilkhot Rotzea/:1 U’Shemirat Nefesh 1 :9).”

People like you used to have the decency to dress in distinctive clothing, like brown shirts, or black uniforms with lightning bolt insignia. This way, people kind of knew who they were, and they could judge the whole “It’s just peachy to kill a whole class of persons!” spiel. Unfortunately, even the uniforms, the boots, and the goosestepping was not enough to tip off the average German that these were murderous individuals who had murderous designs. Or maybe they just didn’t care.
I suspect that Americans, being on the whole a lot dumber than your average Kraut, will certainly fall for the “It’s just peachy to kill your baby! and it’s legal!” crap. That nonsense certainly found some adherents here. How do you sleep at night???

Yet again many on the far right demonstrate their wilful ignorance and lack of respect for the Bible and those who believe in it. According to the Bible, not only are fetuses not persons, but infants under a month old are not yet persons (see e.g. Exodus 21:22-23; Leviticus 27:6; Numbers 3:15-16).
Apparently the Bible is just fine when they want to get their hate on for gays but inconvenient for getting their hate on for abortion. Surprise, surprise: when given the choice between the Bible and their hate, the consistent choice is hate. The Bible? Not so much.
” throwing around the term “death cult” he needs to start talking about Christianity, too.”
Completely wrong.
Both ISIS and NARAL promote killing people, differing only by the timing.
Both are defended with religious fervor.
I couldn’t watch the video because the title turned me off. “Comedians: can’t get abortions unless maybe they”re transgender. The word is “comediennes.” Using “comedians” to refer to “comediennes” is like using “actor” to refer to “actress.” It’s an attempt to impose an ideology on the listener, smacks of newspeak and shows a disrespect for tradition.
AYY – actor is the proper term for both male and female actors. It is traditional. Hence, it is the Screen Actor’s Guild, etc.
Horuss,
I guess two things, what are the non baby killers lying about and, what exactly is an abortion Dr. curing a woman of by performing an abortion?
