Emails Show Democratic National Committee Officials Actively Undermined Sanders And Sought To Guarantee Clinton’s Nomination

Wasserman SchultzFor months, critics and candidates have been publicly denouncing what they view as open favoritism of the Democratic National Committee (and particularly DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz) toward Hillary Clinton. Even DNC members have objected to the role of the DNC and the view that it is trying to guarantee that Clinton is the nominee. Despite fairly universal criticism of the favoritism showed Clinton (and opposition showed Sanders), Wasserman Shultz and DNC officials publicly denounced any such suggestions of working against Sanders. Now, with the Wikileaks postings, various emails prove that the DNC has been actively working to undermine Sanders and advance their chosen candidate of Hillary Clinton. What continues to shock me is the unblinking dishonesty of Washington. Absent this Wikileaks disclosure, officials would have continued to deny that they secretly undermined all challengers to Clinton. It is sheer mendacity of the power elite in this city that is so chilling.

WikiLeaks posted an email from Mark Paustenbach, the Democratic Party’s national press secretary and deputy communications director, to other staffers discussing how they could create an anti-Sanders narrative that portrays his campaign in disarray and not an acceptable option for voters.

“Wondering if there’s a good Bernie narrative for a story, which is that Bernie never ever had his act together, that his campaign was a mess. . .

“Specifically, DWS had to call Bernie directly in order to get the campaign to do things because they’d either ignored or forgotten to something critical. She had to call Bernie after the data breach to make his staff to respond to our concerns. Even then they didn’t get back to us, which is why we had to shut off their access in order to get them to finally let us know exactly how they snooped around HFA’s data.

“It’s not a DNC conspiracy, it’s because they never had their act together,” Paustenbach continued.

Other emails shows collusion with the Clinton campaign and even an effort to start an attack against Sanders on the basis of his religious beliefs.  For example, a May 2016 message from DNC CFO Brad Marshall suggested that the party should “get someone to ask” Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders about his religious beliefs.

Subject: No shit
It might may no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist.
The email was sent to DNC Communications Director Luis Miranda and Deputy Communications Director Mark Paustenbach. It’s unclear who the “someone” in this message could be — though a member of the press seems like a safe bet. A request for comment sent to Marshall was not immediately returned.

So here you have not only a high ranking DNC official actively working to discredit Sanders (while the DNC is expressing shock over suggestions of favoritism) but suggesting a despicable attack based on his religious beliefs.  The emails show both an campaign against Sanders and the falsity of statements made to the public.

A reply to Marshall’s email from DNC CEO Amy Dacey read only “AMEN.”

So it appears that religion runs deep among the DNC staff . . . at least when it comes to destroying Sanders and rigging the election for Clinton. The planned use of a candidate’s religious beliefs or agnostic views against him is a disgraceful and dishonorable act for any party. All of the officials planning such an attack (or staying silent with knowledge of such an attack) should be fired.

At a minimum, in my opinion, Wasserman Schultz should resign in light of these emails and the now reaffirmed allegations of bias at the DNC.  Furthermore, these officials should be immediately held accountable if the DNC wishes to regain any semblance of being an honest broker for democratic voters.

What do you think?

Just watched Bernie on ABC. I love that man but even if the DNC takes DWS out and burns her on a stake in attempt to appease us we are firmly Bernieorbust and NeverHillary. Bernie does not own us – the 13 mil who voted for him.

Re: Putin – I’m pretty certain he’s rather deal with the Donald than HRC. He’s already pissed about the NATO expansion.

  2. O.K. So will you answer my question? Why do Trump’s potential murders bother you but Obama’s actual murders, which are premeditated, not bother you? Are you able to condemn Obama’s murder’s of black and brown children?

As to the latest rumors on Russia–who cares? No one has disputed the veracity of the e-mails. I notice that Democrats refuse to deal with the actual content. Their only hope seems to be deflection to Russia or Trump.

Here is real content, undisputed by the authors of the e-mail. If Democrats are worried about throwing elections they need look no further than their own party!

“Hillary Clinton is not only a liar…for… Iraq”

Indeed, Clinton ‘evolved’ regarding her Senate vote for the 2002 AUMF by blatantly misrepresenting the 2002 AUMF and the legal-factual basis of Bush’s decision for Operation Iraqi Freedom: Explanation.

That being said, Trump is no better than Clinton – regarding Bush’s decision for OIF, Trump’s position is based on blatant legal and factual error: Explanation.

  4. @Jill

It’s called pretzel logic – I am constantly amazed at the mental contortions Hilbots do to justify their support of her.

  5. I think the Russian hackers will be releasing info all week. Some say that Putin wants to throw the election to the oligarch Trump. I am not a conspiracy theorist so I do not think it is true.

  6. Trump seems to harbor ill will toward all Muslim people. I don’t think he will get the votes of Muslims in the US. You did not answer my question about ISIS: Is ISIS evil and should it be defeated?

  7. I”ve been listening to NPR’s propaganda hour this morning. They barely mention the leaks and then only that it’s divisive to the DNC.

So collusion with the press. Suppression of information now occurring. Campaign finance laws broken. Disenfranchisement of voters. Hideous disrespect of Hispanic people along with idiot progressives. Poof–it’s nothing! This is scary.

More leaks to come. Wikileaks has to refer people to other sites to find information. Yes, USA, the land of the free.

  8. smm,

Every drone strike is personally approved by Obama (except the ones sent by JSOC). It is known by Obama that only 1 in 10 of the people killed by drones is even remotely considered a terrorist. That is deliberate, by any rational definition.

Now would you be able to answer why you are upset about Trump potentially commuting murder but only find Obama’s actual murder’s “unfortunate”?

  9. @Autumn

My comment about Adolf Hitler III disappeared also. It was good! No I did not know Cenk used to be a Republican. I can certainly understand being disgusted with them, but I don’t see how one goes from that to swallowing the Dem line. IIRC, HRC used to be a Goldwater Republican, but she changed once she hit college. Maybe Cenk did, too.

  10. Jill, I do think these killings of babies in the mideast have been accidental but very very unfortunate. I do not think he intentionally targets Muslim babies. I guess you do.

  11. @SWM

Thanks, I never watch the MSM as it’s so damn trite, but I’ll google him right now.

  12. SMM,

Below is what I wrote. Your response doesn’t answer anything i said here. If you are able to answer this up front I can easily respond to your responses. So, I’ll await your response to the following: (BTW, BLM is anti-war!)

    SMM,

While it would very likely be true that: “Trump does not want to kill white christian babies just the “others” It’s absolutely true that Obama has already done this, once again, just this week.

I will never understand why you are so upset about Trump potentially murdering the babies of black and brown people while you steadfastly support Obama’s actual murders. That just doesn’t make sense. To a person on the outside of the Democratic party this seems depraved. If these potential murders are wrong and should be opposed, why not oppose the actual murders taking place as well?

RE: Cenk I’m sure he regretting interviewing Diamond and Silk as they owned him. We Progressives have issues with Cenk and the TYTers except for Jimmy Dore. Many have unsubscribed as he is falling in line with the “hold your nose” mantra.

Cenk is an interesting guy – did you know that he used to be a Republican?

  14. He has been on talk shows all morning, Autumn. He has been blasting Trump. 🙂

  15. @SWM

Where is Bernie by the way? Does the DNC have him locked up at Gitmo so they send out tweets on his behalf? Very strange.

  16. @squeek

for some reason my comment disappeared re: Berniebots short re-cap – don’t listen the MSM drivel about how we are gonna flip from Bernie to HRC. Millions of us are firmly Bernieorbust – we will vote Jill Stein, write in Bernie where possible, not vote and a small faction will vote for the Donald to keep HRC out of the WH. This election is like no other in our lifetime and we refuse to “hold our noses and vote”

Check out uber Bernie or Buster Tim Black if you are so inclined. People from all over the nation call in nightly to discuss various topics and strategies. Freedom Fridays are the best as each caller gets 5 minutes on their soapbox.

I was not aware that the Berniebots were independents. I hope they Demexit, but I am more cynical like NickS, and think they will flop over for HRC. Maybe Jill Stein, a doctor, can prescribe some testosterone for Bernie to stiffen his resolve?

    🙂
