Former Democratic Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz was booed of the stage by the Florida delegates today as anger continued to rise over emails showing that the DNC actively undermined Bernie Sanders and sought to rig the primaries for Hillary Clinton. Yet, in coming DNC interim chair (and Clinton supporter) Donna Brazile is calling for Wasserman Schultz to have a role at the convention as a reward for her past work. In an equally tone deaf response, Clinton has given Wasserman Schultz a formal job with her campaign — as opposed to the informal job that her critics have long alleged. The fact is that Wasserman Schultz has from the start been the most controversial DNC chair in the party’s history — well before the entrance of Bernie Sanders. Her tenure has been divisive and destructive for the party. The effort to reward her by party insiders like Brazile and bring her into the Clinton campaign only reaffirms the disconnect with voters.
Wasserman Schultz discussed her new role for the Clinton campaign as delegated booed her and chanted “shame” over the now confirmed secret campaign for Clinton at the DNC. She will be the honorary chair of her campaign’s 50-state program. Clinton heralded the past work and future role of Wasserman Schultz:
“I want to thank my longtime friend Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her leadership of the Democratic National Committee over the past five years. I am grateful to Debbie for getting the Democratic Party to this year’s historic convention in Philadelphia, and I know that this week’s events will be a success thanks to her hard work and leadership. . . . There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie–which is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program to gain ground and elect Democrats in every part of the country, and will continue to serve as a surrogate for my campaign nationally, in Florida, and in other key states.
“I look forward to campaigning with Debbie in Florida and helping her in her re-election bid–because as President, I will need fighters like Debbie in Congress who are ready on day one to get to work for the American people.”
I would think that this is stating the obvious but the Clinton people might have wanted to wait a bit before giving Wasserman Schultz a position with the campaign when delegates are protesting that she was working for the campaign all along. One look at the Florida delegation (which is Wasserman Schultz’s most supportive group) confirms that obvious point:

@SWM
WTF? I am having trouble following your logic. It’s hot – perhaps you need to drink some water to rehydrate your brain cells.
Putin is a “democratically elected” dictator, formerly KGB. And he cracks down on those he deems as dissidents. No one disputes that. However, Putin is not the aggressor. Obama/HRC is by pushing NATO ever further east.
And how bout the US not signing the cluster bomb ban?
A negotiator like Trump is better than a warmonger like HRC. She already has blood on her hands.
SMM,
Great, but she can if she wants to!
Yes and the NDAA. We have a police state. It’s becoming more open each year. When challenged, you really see them bare their fangs. And I’m afraid we have not begun to scratch the surface of what they will do if they actually become frightened of being exposed and cannot adequately contain the information. Right now, it’s fairly contained.
Clinton easily praises DWS and gave her a plum job. This tells me she is not all that worried at this point. She is worried enough to call for help from the press, her troll army and now the FBI but if she gets really worried, we’ll see much, much worse.
Jill, So far Clinton has not used my credit card. 🙂
@slohrss29
I like it: “just trying to stay alive lives matter” I will make that into a bumper sticker with your permission. My car is going to be covered by the time November rolls around.
Putin murders his dissidents but particularly the Jewish ones. And the old peacenik Putin bombs the Ukraine and gives Assad barrel bombs while his air force bombs indiscriminately in Syria. Clinton is a weakened candidate but I agree with Bernie that Trump MUST be stopped.
Autumn, it always seems to come back to that. All the death and suffering going on right now is just an indicator that business is good. How about “Poor, starving, bleeding, wounded, bombed, droned, shot, and plain just trying to stay alive lives matter?”
@jill
and how about indefinite detention?
Autumn,
It is creepy, really creepy. These tech company heads are fascists, just like most of our political figures.
SMM, If you don’t like having your identity stolen then you really shouldn’t be voting for Hilliary Clinton. She’s for mass surveillance and mass means mass, including you.
@jill
Google is infiltrating every aspect of our lives. Last Fall I took a class on “Film as Art” at my local community college. I was astounded to find out that Google runs their email system and has access to every student’s SSNs, DOBs, address/phone, credit card info, transcripts, etc.
I am a bit of a Luddite although obviously I am online – I do not have a cell phone. For long road trips I buy a cheap burner. Otherwise if I need a phone someone always has one. I do not want to be “on” all the time.
So I take my nephew to the airport on Saturday and have to take him to the gate as he is only 9. I watched as person after person walked up to board the plane and used their cell phones to verify their tickets. I wonder how long it is going to be before I will have to get a cell phone to complete transactions.
RB, The penalty is what the people must impose. It would be full stop supporting the criminal class with money, time, attempts to excuse their bad behavior and giving them your vote. We do have that power left to us.
Like slohrrs29, it is hard for me to understand how people cheer their own demise at that hands of the powerful. Even being a paid troll (such as revealed in the e-mails) seems such a small exchange for one’s rights. With inflation, it may be a $1.50 per word at this time. Yes, that’s totally worth subverting the rule of law and selling out other people (including yourself in the long run.)!
Squeeky squeeked:
“…who is it who is always shutting down conservative speakers on campuses, that is, depriving people of their free speech rights, and general political rights? The Bernie-ish SJWs. Who is it who didn’t just protest Trump outside his rallies, but actively tried to block him from speaking? The Bernie SJWs!”
You’re not a very good reporter since you did not know the Wikileaks DNC emails implicated Hillary’s minions for the protests and violence. You make it worse by blaming the wrong people. Here is the proof:
“Once more conspiracy their becomes conspiracy fact as suggestions of ‘very professionally organized group of thugs’ causing trouble at Trump rallies is confirmed with the WikiLeaks released of DNC emails revealing that DNC officials planned anti-Donald Trump protests.”

Better go back to reporting school so you can learn the difference between a newsworthy scoop and a pooper scooper.
So someone is a HIlbot if she or he does not was their identity stolen and then used for financial gain. That is an interesting idea. If you ever do have your identity stolen and need to clean up the mess, you might change you mind.
@slohrss29
Yup, talk good, bombs not. But then the MIC wouldn’t get richer would it? The people who support HRC.
How many Doctors Without Borders hospitals has Russia bombed??
P.S. SMM,
Ordinary people have had their credit card information, along with our phone calls/texts/webbrowsing, location, FB info, banking information, etc. stolen by this govt.(and private corps such as FB, google etc.) for years. We know about this thanks to whistleblowers who Obama has prosecuted in record numbers.
We aren’t supposed to know what the criminal class is up to but they are supposed to know everything about us!
I predict either way Trump or Clinton congress will repeal The Judiciary Act of 1869 and will increase the number of Supreme Court Justices to 11 or 15.
This will enable either side to water down the most crucial aspect of winning the Presidency and allow us to get on with criminal, mediocre and narcissistic, special interest driven election results by default like the one we are about to endure.
I’d even go up to 17 if it were up to me.
Just saying.
Well-pointed out Jill. One of those state institutions that keep the population in line, regardless of their written mission. I don’t mean to be beating up on SWM, but let’s get a little real. Putin is in Russia, and does not answer to the US government. He is whatever he is, and his people voted him in. It’s amazing to be how liberal folk extend their authority over the entire planet. And, like I said, with NATO staring over the border at Russia, Putin supports Trump, because Trump wants to TALK to the Russians. TALK=good, WAR=not so good. Is it because most people around now think war is just a TV event? I find it amazing not many people ask questions about things like this.
@jill
Word: “Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it.”
But Hilbots cannot digest the truth so they automatically deflect.
