Former Democratic Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz was booed of the stage by the Florida delegates today as anger continued to rise over emails showing that the DNC actively undermined Bernie Sanders and sought to rig the primaries for Hillary Clinton. Yet, in coming DNC interim chair (and Clinton supporter) Donna Brazile is calling for Wasserman Schultz to have a role at the convention as a reward for her past work. In an equally tone deaf response, Clinton has given Wasserman Schultz a formal job with her campaign — as opposed to the informal job that her critics have long alleged. The fact is that Wasserman Schultz has from the start been the most controversial DNC chair in the party’s history — well before the entrance of Bernie Sanders. Her tenure has been divisive and destructive for the party. The effort to reward her by party insiders like Brazile and bring her into the Clinton campaign only reaffirms the disconnect with voters.
Wasserman Schultz discussed her new role for the Clinton campaign as delegated booed her and chanted “shame” over the now confirmed secret campaign for Clinton at the DNC. She will be the honorary chair of her campaign’s 50-state program. Clinton heralded the past work and future role of Wasserman Schultz:
“I want to thank my longtime friend Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her leadership of the Democratic National Committee over the past five years. I am grateful to Debbie for getting the Democratic Party to this year’s historic convention in Philadelphia, and I know that this week’s events will be a success thanks to her hard work and leadership. . . . There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie–which is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program to gain ground and elect Democrats in every part of the country, and will continue to serve as a surrogate for my campaign nationally, in Florida, and in other key states.
“I look forward to campaigning with Debbie in Florida and helping her in her re-election bid–because as President, I will need fighters like Debbie in Congress who are ready on day one to get to work for the American people.”
I would think that this is stating the obvious but the Clinton people might have wanted to wait a bit before giving Wasserman Schultz a position with the campaign when delegates are protesting that she was working for the campaign all along. One look at the Florida delegation (which is Wasserman Schultz’s most supportive group) confirms that obvious point:

This is really wrong as well: “As I walked in to the WFC, another reporter asked me about a message Bernie sent to all of us delegates, in which he explicitly asked us not to protest on the floor. Bernie said:
“I would ask you as a personal courtesy to me to not engage in any kind of protest or demonstration on the convention floor.” He made clear exactly what he was talking about. His email said:
“Our credibility as a movement will be damaged by booing, turning of backs, walking out or other similar displays. That’s what the corporate media wants. That’s what Donald Trump wants. But that’s not what will expand the progressive movement in this country.” (see naked capitalism)
Bernays is asking people to accept that their votes don’t count, that they can be disenfranchised and should just shut up about it. They should not accept this and he has no right to ask that from other people. Some of the people there are calling for real opposition to the TPP. They are supposed to shut up and go away as well. That is simply outrageous.
Bernie is truly playing his part. People should keep speaking out, speaking up. This is what a democracy looks like. All of these powerful people need to hear from the people. That Bernie tells them to shut up is a betrayal of other people’s rights.
Not one of the powerful people in the oligarchy or who act as servants of the oligarchy should be listened to any longer. These emperors are naked.

If they work for Correct The Record, they are not permitted to come down on one side or another of an issue, because they never know when Hillary will pivot to pick up a few votes, or a nice speaking fee for Bill. They are limited to calling Trump and Republicans bad names.
They have special keyboards with separate keys for “racist”, “homophobic” “sexist” “fascist” and a few other terms to increase their efficiency. This will be confirmed after the election.

BTW: Love your name – it sounds very musical. Is it pronounced “Gra-ci-ela” or “Gra-chi-ela” Reason I ask is that is I watch a lot of Spanish films and although I don’t speak the language I have noticed a distinct difference between say Mexican or South American films and those from Spain.
I speak only English and German and a smattering of French.

Jill, I knew that the DNC and Schultz were for Hillary before the e-mails. Any person with a brain could see that by looking at what they were doing. As for voter disenfranchisement, there is NONE because the GOP and Trump are the ones who are pushing that to destroy the voting rights of all minorities. THAT is REAL voting fraud, and if you cannot see or understand that, you have your head in the sand. The Democrats have been fighting this for YEARS. By the way, I was a Sanders delegate to the state convention too and gave a lot of money.
If you disagree that Stein doesn’t have a chance,then you are at odds with your own candidate because she doesn’t think she will even come close. Now that says more about you and your lack of reality than anything. ALL of the Trump supporters KNOW she hasn’t a chance, and their enthusiasm for Stein should TELL you something. How do you square that with your position? Thus a vote for Stein WILL be a vote for Trump in battleground states. Now I can understand the idea of building a third party,but to say that this will be done this year is delusional. I can also understand not voting for Clinton IF you think she is the same as Trump.
