Ok, what is wrong with this picture? A video taken by passenger Emma Baum shows an obnoxious man yelling support for Donald Trump on her flight and calling other passengers “Hillary bitches.” Delta proceeds to take the man off the plane but then returns the man to his seat and allows him to take the flight. Come again? A passenger yells profanities and abuses other passengers and Delta still reportedly allows him to take that flight with those passengers? Update: Delta has now banned the man from Delta flights for life.
If there was a passenger who was arguing with the man, it does not appear on the videotape. If so, that passenger should also have been removed if he or she was disruptive in the same fashion. If he was drunk, a later flight offers a wonderful opportunity to sober up. The point is that this is not about politics but rather conduct.

The flight was from Atlanta to Allentown and the man had already obviously been screaming before the videotape began. The man was yelling “Donald Trump baby!” and We got some Hillary bitches on here?” while pointing at passengers. He added “Donald Trump is your President. Every god damn one of you. If you don’t like it, too bad.”
I could not care less who he supported. The fact is that he was yelling and abusing passengers but Delta still returned him to the flight. He clearly was not apologetic according to one witness who said that, upon sitting back down, the man said “This is what you get for being a patriot.”
No, this is what you get for being a utter idiot and nuisance. Indeed, his rude performance likely delighted some who want to portray all Trump supporters as part of that “basket of deplorables.” I do not blame other passengers being a tad put out in learning that someone can engage in such bizarre and disturbing fashion but still be deemed fit to fly, particularly after all of stories of people being booted over tee-shirts (and here) or tweets.

Rogers It seems that I was RIGHT about kicking the Trump idiot off the plane! All that was required at the time was for the captain to grow a pair and DO HIS JOB! At least the CEO of Delta has taken it one step further and BANNED this idiot from his airline. It also cost Delta a fair amount of money for not doing the right thing. Too bad that I am retired and not being able to counsel younger captains about their responsibility to our passengers and airline.

I also told my airline that if any of my crew were physically assaulted or instructions were not obeyed, I would insist on the criminals being arrested, and NOT released as was the norm.
After 9/11 when the flight crew was not allowed to even carry nail clippers, I was rather upset to see two Sikhs waiting to board my flight since I knew that they were carrying KNIVES! I told the gate agent, I wanted a secondary screening done on them because I knew that they probably had those knives on their persons. THAT touched off a storm! The manager came on board and handed me a copy of an FAA letter stating that Sikhs are allowed to carry knives on board because it is part of their religion. I asked if I could have a copy of that letter, or keep it, and she said no. I said is it top secret or something? She refused an answer. I then got a copy from the TSA guys at my home airport and I checked out the Sikh web site and found the letter had the EXACT wording that the Sikh web site had as to why they should be allowed to carry such knives. While in uniform with my crew,I had to take off my coat, hat, shoes, belt, empty my pockets, take off my THREE ID badges, cigarettes, lighter, watch,and then get wanded as well. Yet these guys could keep their turbans on, keep their knives, keep their sandals on, and were treated with great deference. The only reason I did not deny them boarding is that I knew that they had knives to cut the throat of any person who said ALLAH and they have been killing Muslims for centuries, and were no threat to my flight. In fact they would be good defense against any terrorist.
After reading the article and before watching the video I thought this must really be terrible. After watching the video I thought this is disturbing but no worse than what you might see at an athletic event.

The guy may be a rocket scientist, but he is far more likely to be an unskilled illiterate high school dropout who deeply resents and fears literate folks who have rewarding careers and middle class lives, something he knows he will never have because of his limited brain function, which he cannot change.
He feels that he won the contest against more competent folks and wants to rub it in. He feels like David after taking down Goliath. We need to find ways that such folks can feel good about themselves without needing to be racist, misogynistic, and generally hateful towards everyone. This guy is at a dead end. Donald Trump is unlikely to change that.

You can tell just from his limited use of words that he has an education level comparable to the level that Trump uses to his supporters…. the 4th grade. This backwater scholar appears to have only three of his original 4 brain cells left, probably from huffing spray paint cans or a lifetime of sniffing Monkey Gas as his shirt states. His pathetic dribble is shared by many others who followed suit with this guys lead. We need to find out who this oxygen thief who’s stealing the precious gas from the rest of us is, post his name, publicly shame him and then put him out of his misery so future generations don’t have to suffer his obvious genetic disorders. I’ve spent time in war zones, so I have a different view on what you seem to think an attack is. If you only really saw & experienced a true attack than you might have rephrased your statement or used a different set of verbs. I think that the Delta personnel involved are to be commended for their response to the behavior of this (temporarily?) mentally underpowered passenger who gave every indication of having an alcohol-suffused frontal cortex. They took him off the plane, no doubt counseled him regarding the context and the mode of his exercising his 1st Amendment right to speak freely, and allowed him to return to his seat.
What’s not to commend?

Drunken redneck a-hole. I have a friend who was an FBI agent in Anchorage. He hated being the on call agent around the Holidays and summer vacation season. People w/ problems like this jerk get hammered on the long flight to Alaska and he had to go to the airport and be the cop to arrest them.

Well, I have a little experience in drunk rednecks. Down here where I party, there are three kinds of bars. One with a lot of gays, one with a lot of blacks, and ones with a lot of goat roping rednecks. I frequent the third kinds, sooo yeah, I think Bubba was a little drunk there. Could be. I had a little fun with a couple of mine, who are always asking if I am a lesbian because I don’t date and don’t want to get married. And they assure me they will still love me if I am, which they won’t, and I am not, so it doesn’t really matter. But anyway, I had to just grab a plate and run because of the 8 little kittens I am fostering, sooo I wore a plaid shirt, a pair of blue jeans, and a pair of lace up hiking type boots over there! I had my hair in a ponytail, and no makeup on. If I had a tool belt, I would have wore that, too, but I don’t have one. I guess I should have stuck a hammer in my belt. But anyway, their looks were absolutely precious, and my parent’s looks were like, “Oh, WTF are leaving us with when you go home!”
I have been afraid to call to see what went on after I left.

If a Hillary supporter did it, they would have removed the person from the flight. However, It’s doubtful a Hillary supporter would behave in such a way. Democrats tend to be mild and meek, not loudmouth rednecks. Incidentally, I’m neither Republican nor Democrat.

As a very politically active Libertarian I get it from both sides. it’s been the Trump supporters that have been the most vocal and have yelled some pretty ignorant stuff.
I’ve had some decent conversations with some Democrats and they tended to want to talk about the issues when we had a booth anywhere. This is also true when I volunteered for Rand Paul. I’ve had DFL door knocker verbally go after me in my own front yard. That’s only one out of 1000s that I’ve been exposed to.
However, most of the PHYSICAL damage I’ve witnessed or personally experienced was done by Democrats. Interestingly enough, most of these things have been done by Democrat volunteers. It’s hard to get away with stuff when cameras are everywhere these days. So this isn’t speculation.
Had I put a Trump sign in front of my house, I have no doubt that I would have experienced severe vandalism.
But hey, what’s a little physical damage to personal property when you believe in legalized theft?
I’d rather be yelled at.
