Georgetown University professor Dr. Carol Christine Fair is under fire after her profance Twitter rant against Judge Brett Kavanaugh went viral. I have written previously in opposition to the growing discipline of teachers and professors for their political commentary on social media. This is no exception. However, I have left the posting in their unredacted original despite my view of Fair’s commentary as both vulgar and reprehensible. However, since the issue is whether such posts should be subject to discipline, they are not redacted. Warning: the tweets below contain highly offensive language.
Dr. Fair is an associate professor within Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. She has previously ranted about the GOP and politics including declaring “GOP doesn’t care about women. We knew this. Fuck them.”
Her commentary however is befitting more of a rage texting drunk than an academic at a respected institution.
She was not satisfied with addressing Kavanaugh’s record on its merits and instead said such low-grade observations. She adopts Trump’s tactics of adopting insulting nicknames in calling Kavanaugh “Kreppy Kavanaugh.”
When North Carolina Pastor John Pavlovitz called Sen. Lindsey Graham as someone who lost his soul, she responded “Nope. The ratfucker never had one,” Fair tweeted in response to Pavlovitz. “He got two assholes instead. The second one acts like a mouth . . . except it spews shit en lieu of verbiage.”
Fair’s Twitter page has a banner contains a hearing of reads, “DON’T GRAB MY PUSSY.”
Despite my criticism of Fair for these postings, I still believe that this is an exercise of free speech and there is no indication that Fair is unfair to conservative students. As such, Fair is rightfully the subject of condemnation but not termination. These comments go to core political beliefs, though expressed in the crude possible way.

Prof. Turley is mistaken. Tenure is to protect a professor for speaking and writing ON THEIR SPECIALTY- a protection to allow their scholarship to take them where the facts lead. It does NOT allow for twitter rants on personal political views or speech of like manner.
As a Professor, Turley errs in the favor of his profession, but he, once again, loses focus on the true foundation of tenure and blurs the concept with “free speech,” which is a universal freedom as a citizen’s protection from GOVERNMENT punishment, not work related punishment…even at “public” schools.

I took a look at Carol’s bio: Her work is primarily focused on counter-terrorism and South Asian topics.
She previously served as a senior political scientist with the RAND Corporation, a political officer with the United Nations Assistance Mission to Afghanistan in Kabul and a senior research associate at USIP’s Center for Conflict Analysis and Prevention.
She has served as a Senior Fellow at West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center, a Senior Resident Fellow at the Institute of Defense Studies and Analysis. Her research focuses on political and military affairs in South Asia (Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka).
Fair has published several articles defending the use of drone strikes in Pakistan and has been critical of analyses by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and other humanitarian organizations, arguing that drone strikes are accurate, have reduced casualties, have targeted Taliban leadership and are popular among some Pakistanis.
She speaks and reads Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.

It goes without saying: to “sink Kavanaugh even if” Ford’s allegation is untrue is unethical, unconstitutional, and undemocratic. He has a right to due process, and before liberals sharpen their pitchforks any further they would do well to remember what happened to Brian Banks.
In the summer of 2002, Banks was a highly recruited 16-year-old linebacker at Polytechnic High School in California with plans to play football on a full scholarship to the University of Southern California. However, those plans were destroyed when Banks’s classmate, Wanetta Gibson, claimed that Banks had dragged her into a stairway at their high school and raped her.
Gibson’s claim was false, but it was Banks’s word against hers. Banks had two options: go to trial and risk spending 41 years-to-life in prison, or take a plea deal that included five years in prison, five years probation, and registering as a sex offender. Banks accepted the plea deal under the counsel of his lawyer, who told him that he stood no chance at trial because the all-white jury would “automatically assume” he was guilty because he was a “big, black teenager.”
Gibson and her mother subsequently sued the Long Beach Unified School District and won a $1.5 million settlement. It wasn’t until nearly a decade later, long after Banks’s promising football career had already been tanked, that Gibson admitted she’d fabricated the entire story.
Following Gibson’s confession, Banks was exonerated with the help of the California Innocence Project.

I work for a federal civilian agency that has a “conduct unbecoming” clause in its employee conduct pamphlet. Employees receive a copy of the pamphlet every year, which they have to sign for, and have a yearly group meeting to discuss and ask questions. Both management and a union rep are present. Point being, that if a federal agency, where employees are fairly well protected in their rights by an extensive body of statutory and case law, can discipline employees up to the point of removal for conduct which reflects poorly on the mission of the agency, then so could an employee of a private organization. Where a professor associated with Georgetown goes on a profane public rant, which is (or should be) at odds with the Catholic image and mission of the unviversity, she can and should be disciplined. Georgetown simply lacks the willpower. There is nothing redeeming in her profanity that bears on the freedom of an academic to express controversial views.

With two exceptions that I know of the way you get a college or university diploma is finding out what each professors question list and tests are. Then figure out their pros and cons. Regurgitate with some embellishments from Cliff Notes or similar. Have a more senior student check it over. Take your “A” or “B” which mean nothing after graduation.

Follow the advice of one of our most famous musicians “If you want to get laid go to college, if you want and education read a book. Frank Zappa.
OR
sign up for something like NY Board of Regents External Degree Program and take courses from a multitude of different schools
OR
if you are in the military and not in a job that sends you to the field constantly sign up for night courses at the education center.
Adding all those together I ended up with a BA and an MA In History, Political Science and Philosophy
and then went to work on a blue collar job because I couldn’t afford the pay cut. that was the joke in the family
OH yes the two schools are Grove College of Pennsylvania and ‘Hillsdale.edu’ of Michigan. They take noi government money including GI Bill or student loans and thus stay free of the Dept of Educ monsters.
hillsdale has pushing a hundred first and second year courses on line no charge and another is ARI or Ayn Rand Institute The first in may areas of study and the second is more philosophy related. again on line and no charge.
There are more but I’m still going through those offered by Hillsdale.edu and ARI. they keep adding! I do those courses to keep up to date and expand my areas.
