STATE OF THE BLOG (2018)

Happy New Year to all of our blog community from around the world. As has been our tradition on this blog, with the start of 2019, I thought I would wanted to share our annual “State of The Blog” statistics. It has been a great year for the blog with the highest traffic in years with another expansion of roughly 20 percent. We also have an increasingly large international contingent of readers and commenters. We are approaching 36 million views and remain one of the largest legal blogs in the world.

Thanks to all of our regulars and particularly Darren Smith who continues to monitor the blog and write on the weekend. We also now have a twitter following of over 57,000 discerning people.

In addition to the United States, our two leading contributing countries were again Canada and Great Britain among 226 other countries.

Over the last year, the top ten countries outside of the United States were:

1. Canada
2. United Kingdom
3. Australia
4. Germany
5. India
6. Mexico
7. New Zealand
8. Hong Kong
9. France
10. Netherlands

The most popular post in 2018 was After The Inspector General Report, Questions Grow Over The Lack Of A Criminal Referral For McCabe

That blog was followed in popularity by the following:

2. Prosecutors Admit That They Wrongly Alleged Russian Woman Was Trading Sex For Access [Updated]

3. SUNY Student Reprimanded Under “Unwritten Policy” For Criticizing Liberal Intolerance At Open Mic Event

4. Bar Complaint Filed Against Counsel For Dr. Christine Blasey Ford

5.”Confused and Distracted”: McCabe Uses Flynn Defense Against False Statement Allegation

We finished 2018 with over 102,000 comments with 1,016 posts. We are approaching 18,000 posts.

Thanks again everyone for making this site and 2018 such a great success!

Best wishes for the New Year!

      Jerry,….
-A few months ago DB Benson mentioned that Sen. Warren had already said that she wasn’t running, and Benson took her seriously!
Now, at this point in time, her actual intentions/ ambitions seem clear.
Note the theme song for her campaign, where she plays on her advocacy of her tribe.
The Warren campaign theme song also plays on the “Paul Revere”/ Massachusett’s connection, too.

      1. For sheer entertainment value, I would like to see Joe Biden run in 2020.
I want to see Hillary back in the race again, too.
But I’d settle for a Pocahontas/ Spartacus 2020 ticket, too.

  2. There are many good “bloggers” on this blog. When I was a kid we would not know what a blogger was.

  3. Happy New Year to all here. The blog remains one of my favorites…in fact, I think it is the only blog that I follow!

  4. A very Happy New Year. Your latenight/early morning posts are one of my first reads of the day.

  5. Happy New Year u’ll. And may the fastest brain cell win! 🙂

Dismal Dave from down under with some historical quotes. I would add, “stay off the roads tonight as it is the one night of the year for amateurs only, professionals always stay home!

    Bill

‘Sometimes, when I reflect on all the beer I drink, I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I did not drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. I think, it is better to drink this beer and let their dreams come true, than be selfish and worry about my liver.’ Babe Ruth. (1895-1948).

‘When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.’ Paul Horning. (1935- )

    ‘24 hours in a day and 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not!’ H. L. Mencken. (1880-1956).

‘When we drink, we get drunk. When we get drunk, we fall asleep. When we fall asleep, we commit no sin When we commit no sin, we go to heaven. So, let’s all get drunk and go to heaven.’ George Bernard Shaw. (1856-1950).

‘Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.’ Benjamin Franklin. (1706-1790).

‘Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.’ Dave Barry. (1947- ).

‘Beer: Helping ugly people have sex since 3000 B.C.’ W. C. Fields. (1880-1946).

‘Remember ‘I’ before ‘E,’ except in Budweiser.’ Professor Irwin Corey. (1914- ).

‘To some it is a six-pack. To me, it is a Support Group. Salvation in a can.’ Leo Durocher. (1905-1991).

‘Well, ya see, Normy, it’s like this .. A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo, and when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first.

‘This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.

‘In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells.

‘Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells, but, naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first.

‘In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.

‘That’s why you always feel smarter after a few beers!

Cheers, a TV Sitcom; Cliff Clavin to his buddy, Norm Peterson.

‘He was a wise man who invented beer.’ (428BC- ).

‘I have taken more from alcohol, than alcohol has ever taken from me.’ Winston Churchill. (1874-1965).

Until very recently, one of his top students frequently posted comments here.

    1. And Happy New Year all year long, to you, counselor mespo, and all the other exceptional people who blog here.

      1. Cindy:
Aren’t you nice and Happy NY to you and hubby, too. We rang in the year eating oysters and rockfish at Rappahannaock Seafood here in Richmond. Nothing more Richmond than that. And remember the new year always belongs to the uncompromisingly nice not those jackasses trying to drag you into their misery. Pity those fools.

        1. mespo……….oooooweeee that restaurant sounds yummy!
Everytime I hear Richmond in the news, I think of good ol’ mespo and the magnificent Commonwealth of Virginia.
          Stay well and happy!
