China Revises Figures On Coronavirus Cases and Deaths

1193px-SARS-CoV-2_without_backgroundFor weeks, experts around the world have expressed open skepticism, if not mockery, over the claims of the death count in China.  While not as absurd as North Korea claiming no cases, China has been reporting a ridiculously low number.  News stories of crematoriums working around the clock and thousands of urns delivered just to Wuhan have added to the criticism.  Now China has increased its count by roughly fifty percent in Wuhan but it is still far below what experts believe is the true story.  China is widely believed to be covering up information on the origins and early outbreak of the virus.

The Wuhan government said total confirmed infections in the city have been revised to 50,333, an increase of 325 cases, while the death count is now 3,869 — and increase of 1,290. This follows embarrassing stories out of Wuhan of long lines of families waiting for urns. A simple counting of families exceeded the official toll.

The death toll for the whole country was moved from  3,342 to 4,632 with total cases  revised from 82,367 to 82,692.

The modest adjustment (blamed on poor accounting on the local level) is unlikely to quell the rising questions over China’s virus lab as a possible source of the outbreak and China’s cover-up, including arresting doctors and withdrawing expert reports during the crisis.

Mao always had a rather direct view of what constitutes truth.   He declared “Every Communist must grasp the truth, ‘Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.’; Our principle is that the Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party.”

    Martha Toscano, 60, had just got out of the 6 train station and was making her way to Bellevue Hospital on Wednesday evening at 10.30pm.

    She was approached by around 15 thugs who ran her down and pummeled her to the floor, she told The New York Post.

    Toscano said: ‘I thought they were going to kill me.

    She wept as she told the Post how the attack happened just three days after she returned to work from beating Covid-19. She had been off for two weeks while she recovered from the virus.

    The vicious assault was interrupted only when three men driving down the street came to her rescue and screamed at the thugs to stop.

    On Thursday police arrested three of the alleged assailants.

    They include two teenage girls aged 14 and 15 and a 19-year-old man named Deshaun Harrison, the Post reported.

    All three suspects are allegedly residents of a nearby group home run by the city’s Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), sources told the Post.

    Harrison was charged with robbery in the second degree, the sources said.

    An ACS spokeswoman told the Post the agency couldn’t legally comment.

    Toscano is now recovering at home with her fiancé in Queens and said she didn’t know when she would return to work because of how terrified she was.

So a 19 year old man was living in a “children’s home?” I’m sure Deshaun, along with comrades Ovarian and Clitorious have the mental and emotional capabilities of children, but it seems rather odd that NY has an adult living in a city-run children’s home, yet lets him roam the streets throughout the night attacking women. If he’s a child, he should be in bed by 8:00 pm.

        I had to return some books I stole from my father years ago back to him last month and I replaced a few of them. One was a Mencken Chrestomathy and the other was The American Language (1936) by him. There is a great section about African American names on pages 524-525. I guess I marked it years ago when I was in high school and found it so funny. Anyway, there is this passage:

        The name of Positive Wassermann Johnson, reported from Evanston, Ill., probably represents the indelicate humor of a medical student. The young brethren who deliver colored mothers in the vicinity of the John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore sometimes induce the mothers to give their babies grandiose physiological and pathological names, but these are commonly expunged later on by watchful social workers and colored pastors.         1. I’ve sometimes wondered about people who are willing to carry embarrassing names. In CA at least, it’s quite easy to change one’s name upon reaching the age of 18. It doesn’t say much for the parents that they would give a child a name which would subject him to ridicule or diminished employment opportunities, but the bearer of said name has options as well, such as changing or modifying it. In Canada, the law forbids naming a child something which will humiliate him, and if the parents refuse to cooperate, a judge is assigned to give the baby a name from a pre-approved list (Royal Family name are preferred). In the U.S., we wouldn’t want to infringe upon the “rights” of parents to give their kids absurd or comical names, and I suppose that within some sub-cultures, those names are considered perfectly acceptable. There used to be a “ghetto names” website that was amusing; I don’t know if it still exists.

          1. I know people who have their own businesses, and some of them will simply trashcan resumes with ghetto/hood names. If your name is DeMarquarius Jones, you need to change it to John Jones. Same with Shemeekarona Smith. Change it to Sally Smith.

            Even White Liberals are going to trashcan resumes with names like that. They just won’t admit to it.

    In a challenging question Dr Jean-François Lemoine inferred that the coronavirus under investigation may have come from a patient who is otherwise infected with HIV. No, “says Luc Montagnier,” in order to insert an HIV sequence into this genome, molecular tools are needed, and that can only be done in a laboratory.

  6. The last quote by Mao actually is succinct genius. The point is that political power equals law and the tool of law is organized force. Law is the gun; and the CCP intended to wield that gun and not let anybody else have it.

    There are layers to that notion: during the Civil War, that mean their Guomindang adversary; during the war that mean the Japs; it always meant as against foreigners; and even at times since then, it has mean, vis a vis other sectors of the Chinese society and even state. The CCP is the consolidated power in and above the PRC state, but that is a matter of design and resolve, and not accident. The CCP could for example, be on the wrong end of the gun if the PLA tried to depose it– but the CCP had firm political control over the generals, as the Tianenment incident proved.

    hence with Mao’s well known maxim in mind, CCP cadres are reminded, that if they wanted to remain in power, would have to understand the reality of the nature of laws as organized social force, and also understand that their rivals may have their own laws which could bring to bear, or even rival factions inside of China could change those laws and thereby wield that gun– against them.

  12. Bear in mind that China is the same as any other nation, they have literally thousands of deaths each day. The CDC statistics sites shows that some 55,000 Americans die each week of multiple causes. The current list shows about the same number of COVID-19 deaths as from pneumonia. Considering that China is the most populous country on earth, they are naturally going to have a death toll in the tens of thousands each day. Consequently, the urns story has no real meaning. Bear in mind that in the United States and other western countries, doctors are reporting heart attacks as COVID-19 deaths. It may very well be that China is reporting the ACTUAL deaths caused by the virus, not elderly people with multiple life-threatening illnesses like certain US states are doing. China may be suppressing the death toll but the United States is inflating it.

    And since we have political leaders in Washington who spend a good amount of time torturing the English language without the added benefit of the semantic fuzziness here, it might take sources other than the Washington press corps, who seem to be potted plants for the political parties these days, to get some clarity.

      And so it is with coronaviruses which just happen to have a much longer asymptomatic infectious period during which infectees can infect others – they’re “natural” in the sense a bat can serve as their natural host (just as marburgvirus and ebolavirus can live in bats and are postulated to be the natural reservoir of both viruses between human outbreaks).

At which point should US-based media conglomerates such as Disney/Capital Cities be made to register as foreign agents for suppressing truths about Chinese government activities or promoting the Chinese Communist Party’s narrative on things such as China’s economy with the truth on Covid-19 death and case figures. Or the NBA, for that matter, for pretending the anschluss isn’t about to happen in Macao, Hong Kong, and Taiwan – in exchange for obscenely profitable broadcasting deals in China?

        comparing the CCP acting like a bull in a china shop in HK isnt exactly like Anchluss, after all, HK is a lawful part of the PRC, whathever the Treaty with the English said, it was a 99 year lease and went back to the landlord who certainly owns it now and will do as it pleases. Macao, is so fantastically rich per capita, as the place where the CCP washes its money via casino junkets, it was not about to rock the boat.

        Taiwan is likewise, at the legal level, perhaps precisely what the PRC says it is, essentially, a rogue province.

        Austria by contrast was not a lawful part of Germany. However, if historians are believed, the crowds met the German army with cheers when they arrived. I tend to think if the PRC sent its army onto Taiwan, or tried, they would not be met with same open arms as Hitler was.

        But we may yet find out, there is still time for an amphibious assault this spring, before the fog and heavy seas set in and make the straights too rough, until again the time is ripe in October.
