For weeks, experts around the world have expressed open skepticism, if not mockery, over the claims of the death count in China. While not as absurd as North Korea claiming no cases, China has been reporting a ridiculously low number. News stories of crematoriums working around the clock and thousands of urns delivered just to Wuhan have added to the criticism. Now China has increased its count by roughly fifty percent in Wuhan but it is still far below what experts believe is the true story. China is widely believed to be covering up information on the origins and early outbreak of the virus.
The Wuhan government said total confirmed infections in the city have been revised to 50,333, an increase of 325 cases, while the death count is now 3,869 — and increase of 1,290. This follows embarrassing stories out of Wuhan of long lines of families waiting for urns. A simple counting of families exceeded the official toll.
The death toll for the whole country was moved from 3,342 to 4,632 with total cases revised from 82,367 to 82,692.
The modest adjustment (blamed on poor accounting on the local level) is unlikely to quell the rising questions over China’s virus lab as a possible source of the outbreak and China’s cover-up, including arresting doctors and withdrawing expert reports during the crisis.
Mao always had a rather direct view of what constitutes truth. He declared “Every Communist must grasp the truth, ‘Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.’; Our principle is that the Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party.”

“(Trump’s) stark departure from the more bipartisan tone of his announcement on Thursday night suggested Mr. Trump was ceding any semblance of national leadership on the pandemic, and choosing instead to divide the country by playing to his political base.”
Trump’s toddler fit yesterday is perhaps good news. Let’s hope he stops showing up at the WH “press conferences” as the next step.
“WASHINGTON — President Trump on Friday openly encouraged right-wing protests of social distancing restrictions in states with stay-at-home orders, a day after announcing guidelines for how the nation’s governors should carry out an orderly reopening of their communities on their own timetables.
In a series of all-caps tweets that started two minutes after a Fox News report on the protesters, the president declared, “LIBERATE MICHIGAN!” and “LIBERATE MINNESOTA!” — two states whose Democratic governors have imposed strict social distancing restrictions. He also lashed out at Virginia, where the state’s Democratic governor and legislature have pushed for strict gun control measures, saying: “LIBERATE VIRGINIA, and save your great 2nd Amendment. It is under siege!”
His stark departure from the more bipartisan tone of his announcement on Thursday night suggested Mr. Trump was ceding any semblance of national leadership on the pandemic, and choosing instead to divide the country by playing to his political base.
Echoed across the internet and on cable television by conservative pundits and ultraright conspiracy theorists, his tweets were a remarkable example of a president egging on demonstrators and helping to stoke an angry fervor that in its anti-government rhetoric was eerily reminiscent of the birth of the Tea Party movement a decade ago….”

What we are learning is that globalism vastly increases the risk of disease transmission from one area to another. Years ago our average age for death was much higher than what we see today. One thing that did the most to lower the deathrate was sewer and water systems (sanitation) that kept the disease rate down along with improving our lifespans. Now faced with the same type of problem we have to devise a new sewer system to protect us from what will endanger us again and again. That requires a new type of sanitation in many respects similar to what we did in the past except that it will depend more on the individual.
Another problem that spread disease years ago was people enterring our country. Not their problem but we sealed the border so that we didn’t let sick people in. We have to recognize that border security is the equivalent of primary protection from disease.
Looking at what happened in NYC we have to recognize how quickly things can spread when people are in very close contact such as literally being squeezed like a can of sardines in a subway car. The disease can spread extremely quickly to all areas that have common destinations with one another.
Covid was a training ground for everyone. We lose a lot of people from infection and influenza every year. From Influenza alone the number has approached 80,000. I think death rates from influenza might fall in the future because of our heightened awareness of how diseases spread.
The solution is a vaccination that works but at this time vaccinations need to be specific to the virus structure and that means they have to be created after the fact. Trump before Covid was known rightfully created a task force to spead up the time creating vaccines and to produce vaccines that could potentially protect people from new viruses. In Israel at least two companies are developing technologies to create masks and othe protective clothing utilizing high technology to add copper and zinc to the cloth I think using nannotechnology. We don’t need nonesense toys for adults. We need to discover new materials to protect us from disease.
As far as China goes, this isn’t the first time they have done this to the world but too many are too stupid to realize the inherent danger for the future. When China realized the disaster they bought up PPE and thenlocked Wuhan up from the rest of the country while permitting its citizens to fly to the west a wreak havoc over the rest of the world. If one looks at this just looking at China’s sequence of events one would consider that the probability was an inadvertant release from the lab followed by negligence in part on purpose by the CCP while holding important data from the rest of the world. One could look at this as an attack by China on the US, western europe and the entire world. One could declare war based on such information but it isn’t worth a nuclear exchange. The next step has to be the acceptance of China as an enemy by all those that have made huge sums off of trade with China (at the expense of the American worker). This involves our politicans on both sides though we can see that the Democrats have had far more involvement in this catastrophe and are more willing to play politics than to secure the nation from harm.
Note: This seems to have disappeared along with some other things. Sorry if it ends up as a repeat.

China won World War III.
Obama “fundamentally transformed” the United States and concluded in his coup d’etat in alliance with China.
Communists (liberals, progressives, socialists, democrats) finally overturned the 2016 election by not letting a crisis go to waste.
Whatever will America do now, a nation in the depths of mortal disease and decimating economic depression?
Enjoy the improving environment.

on R&D since its last accomplishment in basic science, the Atom bomb, and finally deliver its crushing, retaliatory “second strike,”

Naw. Let’s just roll over. Anyone teach Mandarin?
Trump Scapegoats W.H.O. For Pandemic
But W.H.O Was More Prepared Than Trump
On Jan. 12, Chinese scientists published the genome of the virus, and the W.H.O. asked a team in Berlin to use that information to develop a diagnostic test. Just four days later, they produced a test and the W.H.O. posted online a blueprint that any laboratory around the world could use to duplicate it.
On Jan. 21, China shared materials for its test with the W.H.O., providing another template for others to use.
Some countries and research institutions followed the German blueprint, while others, like the C.D.C., insisted on producing their own tests. But a flaw in the initial C.D.C. test, and the agency’s slowness in approving testing by labs other than its own, contributed to weeks of delay in widespread testing in the United States.
In late January, Mr. Trump praised China’s efforts. Now, officials in his administration accuse China of concealing the extent of the epidemic, even after the crackdown on Wuhan, and the W.H.O. of being complicit in the deception. They say that lulled the West into taking the virus less seriously than it should have.
On Jan. 31 — a day after the W.H.O.’s emergency declaration — President Trump moved to restrict travel from China, and he has since boasted that he took action before other heads of state, which was crucial in protecting the United States. In fact, airlines had already canceled the great majority of flights from China, and other countries cut off travel from China at around the same time Mr. Trump did.
A W.H.O. team — including two Americans, from the C.D.C. and the National Institutes of Health — did visit China in mid-February for more than a week, and its leaders said they were given wide latitude to travel, visit facilities and talk with people.
Whether or not China’s central government intentionally misstated the scale of the crisis, incomplete reporting has been seen in every other hard-hit country. France, Italy and Britain have all acknowledged seriously undercounting cases and deaths among people who were never hospitalized, particularly people in nursing and retirement homes.

The New York Times, 4/16/20
Of course this meme is parroted here daily, as if what happened in China and with the WHO 3 and 4 months ago were critical to the crisis today. It certainly is of interest and we should look for a full accounting, just as we should from our federal and state governments.
What is critical now however is getting it right from here, and we are more at risk from the performance of those governments, and only to the WHO and China as they may join in international efforts which indeed exist. Presently our federal government is failing to show necessary leadership – which the President has promised on multiple occasions – in coordinating and driving the gathering and distributing PPEs and especially tests by use of powers only it possesses. This is not f…g rocket science and the feds surrender on this front is unforgivable. We should all hope the President plays golf and let’s Pence take complete charge. Trump can’t cut it.
Book, we should let Trump go off to golf course for good. The sooner Trump is out of the way, the sooner we get a handle on this. Because currently Trump is driving the crisis.
Because currently Trump is driving the crisis.
One thing that impresses everyone about you is that you have no understanding of the dynamics of social relations. This is especially so when you’re yapping about political economy.
TIA apparently has several mice in his pocket today.
Absurd, show-off your skills of persuasion and explain to all us commenters why Trump should be reelected.
By any stretch of history this is a serious crisis. Yet Trump keeps starting arguements; stupid Culture War squabbles that have no value whatsoever.
All these arguments do is distract from the gravity of this crisis. Which means ‘Trump is driving the crisis. Not a day goes by that Trump doesn’t make a false assertion.
And yesterday the president tweeted to militia to ‘Liberate’ their states. Those 3 Tweets should be grounds for immediate dismissal. Trump is a rogue at this point.
Seth:
As it turns out, the “culture war squabble” amounted to harshly condemning China’s actions that led to a global pandemic. Pretending that calling a virus by its origin is racist is absurd. Most diseases are named after their origin (location or species if zoonotic), or symptoms. And that coordinated bashing of the WIV lab outbreak theory also turns out to have been Chinese propaganda.
I find this paradox enlightening. If Russia spends a few thousand dollars on some FB meme, for instance, they meddled in our election in 2016. But ignore Russia providing fake information against Donald Trump that led to years of investigations and numbers coup attempts.
Compare and contrast with China. China appears to have free reign to convince so many Americans that “Wuhan virus” is racist, and blaming China for its outbreak is racist, and investigating the WIV lab as a possible source is a tinfoil hat conspiracy theory.
That’s meddling Aided and abetted by eager Americans thinking they are crusaders for justice, when all they’re doing is covering up for the Communist Party that abused its own doctors.
As this propaganda gets washed through mainstream media news channels, blogs, websites, you get to the comments section with Trump’s “culture war” on China. That’s rich. The planet Earth is pretty pissed at the CCP, and rightly so, and it’s not because of its ethnicity.
True. If we were angered with China because of ethnicity we would also be angry with Taiwan, but we are not. Taiwan seems to have acted pretty decently in all of this.
Young / Estovir, a Taiwanese American could just as easily be harassed by yahoos.
Peter – a German American could just as easily be harassed by yahoos.
Paul, we know where the virus came from. But that’s no reason to make Asians in America uncomfortable. This comparison with Germans is merely denial.
Peter – fess up. Exactly where did the ChiCom virus come from.
Paul, it’s a stupid argument. And you cant process that. Which shows that Trumpers are more committed to Culture Wars than interests of country.
Karen, here you are essentially supporting Culture Wars and proclaiming them important.
Peter – it would be a Culture War if it wasn’t important. 😉
Paul, Trump should have no time for Culture Wars now.. They shouldn’t matter anymore.
Peter – the Culture Wars will go apace, regardless.
Paul, an intelligent leader would know this is no time for Culture Wars. We dont cant afford them now.
Peter – the only cost in the Culture Wars is time and emotion, sometimes some printers ink.
Come on, Seth. Trump is not driving a global pandemic that has crashed the economies of the entire world.
It’s a pandemic that originated in China, followed international travel routes, and infected our country, too.
Blaming Trump for the disease that is ravaging our planet is wickedly partisan.
You know I don’t agree with Trump’s eagerness to reopen the economy. At least his published plan requires a tiered easing that requires continued downward trend in the infection rate at each step. I would have added PPE and treatment protocols, but for some reason, the White House never calls me asking what to do.
Vote (by mail probably) in November. The Democrat Presidential Platform to destroy our economy at its height might appeal to more people now that it’s trashed anyway. Plus there’s the identity politics that values everyone based on their skin color and sexual orientation. That’s grand, isn’t it? So many people are stuck in their homes, and then there’s identity politics which will find some intersectionality of victim groups to spread hatred when everyone does come out of doors. How can you love thy neighbor if it’s a white cis gendered male of the patriarchy? It’s probably colonialism’s fault for the Chinese Communist Party’s actions.
Karen we know it came from Wuhan. And I am confident historians will assign blame to China. But Trump as President has managed our response. It’s hard to argue our response has been effective. And all the while Trump pursues the Culture Wars while Tweeting his usual insults. That’s not leadership. It’s more like sabotage.
Off topic. We don’t need no Prince Harry in America.
IRS stimulsus checks are also going out to dead COVID-19 victims. Here is the result.
We need to get Charlie Chan, Number 2 son, and Birmingham on the case. To the rickshaw!!
Cindy Bragg – I liked Number 1 Son better, 😉 Did you ever see the movie with the whole family in Hawaii?
Paul C….Yes…we’ve seen that one…..We have the entire Charlie Chan collection on cd’s with all 3 actors. They are so nostalgic to me…..they were always on the late show on Houston tv when I was a kid…..Love ’em
BIG NEWS…..we returned from a late afternoon ride this evening and came home to find our Cornish pasties box on the porch!
So excited!!! They were shipped in a very nice reusable cooler. We’re having the apple caramel for breakfast and cheddar onion potato for lunch. Will give a review tomorrow!
Thanks again for suggesting that place.
Cindy Bragg – I had the privilege of watching Charlie Chan in the silver screen. I think I have the complete collection, but I had to get them one at a time. When you watch those movies, watch how revered a detective Charlie Chan is by other detectives.
I hope by this time you have inhaled your Cornish pasties and are wishing you ordered more. Happy Lockdown weekend to you and your husband. 🙂
Paul C– Cindy and I enjoyed a late breakfast of Cornish Pasties and they were delicious! We had the cheese and onion and the cinnamon caramel and still have four left. I tried to explain to her that before we eat them she was supposed to put them on and wear them for awhile, but she refused. Would you help explain that to her? Thank you very much for the recommendation.
Paul C- I meant to say Apple Caramel but they did have cinnamon as well. Thanks again!
honestlawyermostly – glad you enjoyed the Conish pasties. If you can convince her to wear them first, we will need pictures. 😉 However, I am not getting in the middle of this. 🙂
Paul C………Deelish!
Cindy Bragg – glad you two enjoyed the pasties. It is really fun to sit at the counter and watch them make them. Looking forward to the pictures. 😉
Paul C……LOL…….There won’t be enough eye bleach for you to erase that image, and most insurance policies will not cover the damages. 😎
Cindy Bragg – I have Photoshop; I have filters.
Paul C…….You don’t have enough, believe me. 😁
Cindy Bragg – I have a very good set of filters.
THE BIG CHINESE LIE AND COVERUP with the ASSISTANCE of WHO and a few US politicians and some in the MSM. CHINA has had substantial losses, they silence any one who take pictures, reports on what is really going, disappearing Doctors.
China and their leadership should be held accountable and financially responsible. Also those US Politicians like Chris Murphy and others who blame Trump and say China is not responsible should pay a political price
WHO and Who Flung Foo. Three spots on the wall.
WHO needs to be audited by the United States. WHO bureaucrats need forensic audits to see how much their wealth has increased since taking office and where it is coming from.
We have given WHO many millions and what we get is lies about a pandemic that cost many lives and destroyed an economy.
No more money without accountability.
Past predicts future.
China has a long history of coverups and oppressing its own people.
China lied about the outbreak. Arrested its own brave doctors who warned the world, some of whom died in prison. When word about the epidemic got out, China lied again to the WHO, and claimed it could not be passed from person to person.
At this point, anything that comes from China’s official channels is a crock of manure.
21 million cell phone users have gone silent. Some have questioned why. Are they dead? Censored? Blocked? Thrown in an oubliette for trying to be whistleblowers? The official explanation is that all these people dropped their service, or they had multiple cell phones and trimmed the duplicates. China has a well established history of total lies. I don’t know what happened to 21 million cell phone users. China’s explanation amounts to blah blah blah. I expect our intelligence community knows if these are cancelled accounts, duplicates, or some other nefarious explanation, but they aren’t talking. That’s their job. Not talking.
The young American generation clings with total desperation to their phones and social media. The more they are shut in, the more they expand their digital life. Asia is a tech mecca. I wonder what is going on.
China is a Communist Dictatorship. As such, it cannot coexist with individual rights and transparency. So they lie, and will continue to do so about every possible topic. I would like to know how many Chinese have sickened, and how many died from this plague. It’s ground zero. And I worry about those in North Korea. The North Koreans have a high rate of parasites and malnutrition. Those who succeeded in defecting tell stories of seeing toddlers keel over and die in the muddy streets from starvation. The government abuse of women in these reports has been horrific. How in the world are they to withstand a disease that ravages the lungs? These people are trapped. Brainwashed from birth. Under control of their government. What his happening to them? At least in Africa and South America, the countries accept aid. Well, except for Venezuela. We can get reporters on the ground in a lot of the areas. Do air drops. Do something.
My God. To think of what this plague is doing to third world countries, and North Korea. My friend decided not to go out of country to visit his family. But he told me in Peru, the bodies are piling up. He said in Ecuador, they are burning bodies in the street because the morgues cannot handle it. The reports he has passed on from South America are utterly heartbreaking. Sickness. Kids being orphaned. Total destitution. The ruination of the global economy. The grief.
I hate that China’s lies have led to this. We had a chance to stop this. I’ve worked in labs. There is a procedure for a break in biosecurity. There are surveillance for zoonotic outbreaks the occur naturally. There is no possible way this would have been left to go unchecked and spread globally for 2 months if it had happened here. What happens in other countries affects us all.
This might be a good time to go to Russia and destroy its stored Smallpox samples. There are also labs all around the world studying extremely virulent diseases. Some even engineer them to become as lethal as possible, under the auspices that in order to create a defense, they have to created the weapon first. How can they learn how to combat a super flu without a super flu to study? We do it, too.
This needs to end. Whether it turns out that WIV was the source, or the wet market was. We are all living a dystopian novel. I know of at least 3 sources for contagious diseases, studied in labs both in and outside the US, that could either break containment or be weaponized. All orders of magnitude worse than SARS-CoV-2. That is a threat. I also am aware of a test on the distribution of biological weapons that was conducted in the US many years ago off the coast of San Francisco, using what was believed at the time to be a harmless strain of Serratia marcescens. I’ve plated it out myself. When you think of what could go wrong…
I trusted the CDC. They also study some bad bugs in Atlanta. But apparently they don’t know how to QC test a basic field assay. What other problems do they have? What problems do other international labs have?
Karen–Very interesting comment. I had no idea things were so bad in South America but I should have guessed. In this country I suspect confidence in the CDC has slipped. They have not shown well in this pandemic but at least they are up to date on playground safety, not that that is any of their business. Now it turns out that the lead vaccine scientist at NIH, Kizzy Corbett, claims to be an expert in Vaginology who apparently thinks the China virus is aimed against blacks and who disdains science techniques developed by white men. We may have to wait a long while for a vaccine if this nut remains in place. As for smallpox, I think the CDC was reportedly careless with a sample a little while back. Break one of those vials and millions will die. It seems these institutions have gotten very lax on managing their core missions and all of us are paying for that rot and will continue to pay for a long while.
Young, smearing Corbett, above:
https://www.sciencetimes.com/articles/25280/20200413/world-meet-kizzmekia-corbett-leader-clinical-trial-search-coronavirus-vaccine.htm
“A young research fellow from the National Institute of Health, Kizzmekia Corbett, is leading the clinical trial for a coronavirus vaccine. Colleagues praise her for being ‘wonderfully talented.’ Dr. Barney Graham, Infectious Disease Specialist, remembers seeing great potential in her back when he met her as an undergraduate, as he recalls her telling him, “I want your job.” Corbett was clear from the start that her route included getting a doctorate and ideally working on rapid vaccine development, which delighted Graham.”
Corbett’s expertise in ‘vaginology’ and her hostility to scientific methods developed by white men came to light in her own social media.
She smeared herself without any help from me.
“…her hostility to scientific methods developed by white men…”
Got proof?
“She smeared herself without any help from me.”
Young happily jumped on the bandwagon with her armchair smears.
Estovir, you established Young as a lawyer. But Young, like ‘you’, keeps talking medical issues with an ideological slant. Change ‘Young’ to ‘Estovir’ and you have the exact same voice. No one would know the difference.

Karen, the data’s on worldometers. The blather about Ecuador is fake news. A country with Ecuador’s population has 5,500 deaths in a typical fortnight. Their undertakers aren’t going to be overwhelmed by 120 Covid deaths.
Absurd, Ecuador is a geographic point on the globe. The virus is invading South America. That’s not good. We dont the virus taking root in the southern hemisphere.

Now Turley, when has the CCP ever hidden information? I bet you can’t name fifty examples without needing to do five minutes of searching.
They’re not hiding their numbers. Douglas Adams described how easy the numbers are to get in the first Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy book. Numbers are freely available to any foreign spies who are good enough to find them.

Democrats were allowed to falsely accuse President Trump of “collusion” with Russia in the 2016 presidential election. Hillary Clinton’s “Steele Dossier” was allowed to accuse President Trump of malicious urination. Special Counsel Mueller was allowed to falsely conduct an unlimited, malicious special investigation of President Trump. Christine Ballsey Ford was allowed to falsely accuse Justice Kavanaugh of sexual assault. Nancy Pelosi was allowed to falsely impeach President Trump.
Will conservatives now be allowed to accuse democrats of “collusion” with China to maliciously release the “Wuhan Flu” in the 2020 presidential election?
Six months before a presidential election in a presidential election year, the communist leaders in China serve the purposes of the communists (liberals, progressives, socialists, democrats) in America by wittingly or unwittingly causing a disaster, an historic Rahm Emanuel-style “crisis,” for President Trump.
Of course, it’s simply a coincidence replete with plausible deniability.

WHO facilitated China’s lies and helped delay a response to the pandemic.
WHO, like China, is responsible for thousands of deaths that could have been prevented.
The US contributes ten times what China does to the WHO bureaucracy but China has ten times our influence.
Is it unreasonable to suspect that a chunk of China’s contributions are going directly into the pockets of bureaucrats?
I think we need to control our own money more than we do. Instead of entangling ourselves with the WHO and the UN, perhaps we need to decide which international organizations will make best use of our money and donate directly, cutting out the middle men (and the bribery, greed, and corruption.) Help the world, but don’t just dump our money into a slush fund we have little say over. Direct and spend.
Massive property destruction and numerous wrongful deaths were blamed on PG&E Corp. after the recent wildfires in California. It was hypothesized that high winds blew a tree branch into a transformer causing a spark which, in turn, caused the fires. A court found PG&E liable for $30+ billion in damages.
China certified and licensed the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in Wuhan, China. The WIV has been preliminarily determined to be the source of the “outbreak” of the “Wuhan Flu” global pandemic which has caused 150,000 deaths, incalculable pain and suffering and mounting economic devastation leading to global recession or depression.
Apparently, personal injury class-action is not a focus of Professor Turley’s practice or, otherwise, concern. As a layman, I am guessing that the United States should cancel the extant $1.1 trillion debt it owes China and be the first of 195 countries to file a $25+ trillion-dollar wrongful death and damage class-action, or international equivalent, suit against China.
It hasn’t happened yet.
China’s actions constitute wrongful damages and death, or war.
A law suit must be filed or a cold war must be commenced.
Trade with China is destructive, constituting an existential threat, and cannot be justified.
China wittingly or unwittingly launched the preemptive “first strike” of World War III.
America must adhere to War Protocol and launch a retaliatory “second strike” to demonstrate the retained vitality of its military.
The silence is deafening.
Seeing how problematic pandemic models have been, how can we trust climate models?
Seeing how dishonedt the media has been on China’s role in the pandemic, how can we trust the media on ‘climate science’?
China lies. And this time their lies killed.
