“Stand the F**k Down or Get Shot”: Texas Woman Arrested for Threatening the Life of Judge Cannon over Mar-a-Lago Order

A Texas woman, Tiffani Gish, has been arrested after leaving an unhinged diatribe message for U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon (left) that threatened to kill the judge if she continued to order an independent review of seized material from Mar-a-Lago. According to the federal complaint, Gish used the fake name of Evelyn Salt to tell Cannon “stand the f**k down or get shot.” Gish appears unstable but she is precisely the reason why the use of “rage politics” is so dangerous on both sides in this election.[Warning: this story contains vulgar or offensive language].

Gish’s alleged voicemails on Sept. 1, 2022. The first message stated:

Hi, yes, this message is for Aileen Cannon, this is Evelyn Salt, I’m in charge of nuclear for the United States Government. Again, Donald Trump has been disqualified long ago, and he’s marked for assassination, you’re helping him ma’am. So, here’s what we’re going to do, we’re going to let you disarm fucking live nukes off your coffee table….how about you sit on an electric chair a couple times over…you think you’ve got the magical ability to pop up from the dead…pretending that you’re on the team of justice. Again, I told you he’s disqualified, he’s marked for assassination and so are you, you stupid botch, stand the fuck down or get shot…and guess what, I’m also Trump’s hitman, so consider it a bullet to your head from Donald Trump himself…

The name “Evelyn Salt” appears to be taken from the 2010 movie, Salt with Angelina Jolie. The message clearly shows a delusional and disturbed mind, including claims of a “license to kill.”

The threat follows an alleged assassination attempt against Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh by another unbalanced individual.

This is why I have been critical of both President Biden and former President Trump in their use of “rage rhetoric” for political gain. President Biden’s recent speech is an example of such reckless and inflammatory rhetoric.  He has called supporters of President Trump “semi-fascists” and enemies of the state. Former President Trump responded in kind. Such attacks will no doubt serve to rally supporters in both parties but it will also serve to enrage unstable figures who believe that they are righteous in threatening violence or taking actual violent steps.

The attacks on the judiciary from the left are particularly concerning, including Vice President Kamala Harris recently joining those unfairly calling justices “activists” and attacking their integrity.

Law professors and lawyers have also fueled this rage with unsupported attacks on our constitutional system. Some like MSNBC regular (and past writer for Above the Law and the Nation) Elie Mystal objected that Biden’s speech did not go far enough because it is not just “MAGA Republicans” but  all Republicans who are white supremacists. Mystal and others have denounced the Constitution as “trash,” and even some law professors want to “reclaim America from Constitutionalism.”

This crisis of faith is being fueled by a failure of leadership in fueling the rising rage in our country. It was particularly chilling to see Biden denounce millions of voters as enemies of the state while flanked by two Marines in Philadelphia. While such speeches will bring out core voters, it will also bring out those unstable individuals who hear such words as an actual call to arms.

      1. You shouldn’t believe any news because of the source. Your job is to independently verify what is being reported. Of course logic and reason is essential. Do this often enough and you’ll begin to trust (but still verify) sources. Others you can not bother with. justthenews is more reliable than most.

      2. I ask that question all the time, but the article posted was by John Solomon, who for years has developed credibility. Moreover, Solomon will link you to where he got the data from so you can confirm it. If you note, when people criticize him, they use innuendo but don’t prove his facts wrong. On the other hand, he proved them, liars. Look at the article you saw above and see where he refers you for his information.

  5. They arrested the caller without appointing a Special Master to determine if the FBI can review the tapes of her call? That seems highly improper. Every legal defendant should get a Special Master of their own choosing before they can be arrested.

      Did they take her passports and cloths as well as lots of personal property – or just the 911 tape ?

      Did they confiscate communications between her and her lawyer ?

Read the headlines on posts from this very blog, for Pete’s sake. He entered into a disasterous agreement with the Taliban, drawing down our troops from 14,000 to 2,500, agreeing to turn loose 5,000 Taliban who were in prison, no air or land base, and didn’t even involve our Afghan allies, all of which set the stage for the withdrawal problems Republicans are trying to blame on Biden. He insulted our NATO and EU allies, emboldening Putin by siding with him and against our own intelligence agencies, and tried to get Russia readmitted to the G-7. Then, there’s the 2 impeachments, which set a record. Americans never wanted him, and still don’t. Polls prove that if 2020 were held again today, Biden would beat him again.       I think Turley is pointing out that both Trump and now Biden are prone to hyperbolic rhetoric that fuels this aggression.

      Its less about who takes the bait or a count of people who go too far, but that both sides are guilty to a point of creating the potential for a s hitstorm.

      Look at Jan 6th. Had Trump and others not taken the stage… how many people would have marched on the Capitol? I don’t know. Can’t un-ring that bell.

      The only difference between the GOP and the DNC is that we have officials (DNC) who believe that its all fair to do anything until it explicitly becomes deemed illegal.
      Biden will knowingly sign an EO that is illegal just so it can be in place until it gets in front of SCOTUS. Obama did the same. (But Biden acknowledges this openly.)

      The real question… how do we shut this down and get back to normal?

With all the tough questions and criticisms coming at JT from both the right (seems quite high today) and the left, I think it would sense for JT and his blog team to find some not too burdensome a way to consider and respond to the feedback from commenters.   10. Professor Turley thinks that there’s rage on “both sides,” but he’s unable to come up with a single example of rage on the part of conservatives, libertarians, and/or MAGA supporters. Somehow, I think Prof. Turley might have some greater sensitivity to reality if the FBI were to raid his home at 4:00 am with a swat team of 25 armed agents, based entirely on phony accusations.

I don’t recall Trump or any of his acolytes shooting up a democrat legislative baseball team, protesting outside of leftist SCOTUS’ houses, traveling to a leftist SCOTUS’ house with a firearm, chasing democrat cabinet members out of restaurants and threatening their lives, firebombing and looting cities in the name of “justice”, or burning and vandalizing churches and clinics. Nor do I recall any conservative actors or members of Congress threatening to “burn down the WH”, threaten leftist SCOTUS’ with “whirlwinds,… you’ll pay the price”, or shouting, “…if you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. And you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.” All of the political violence is coming from leftist elements in this society from mainstream democrats, to the president, antifa, the FBLie, and their supporters.

      1. Just because they haven’t specifically threatened the life of a judge, and that is in question, doesn’t mean both sides aren’t to blame.
        The judge who signed the Mara Lago search warrant said he was threatened. FBI offices were attacked.
        Both sides do it, both are wrong.
        I just wish the media would stop trying to make it look as if the lefties are just signing protest songs.
