This morning I ran a column on a proposed “First Amendment model” for Twitter once Elon Musk takes over the company. Right on cue, Twitter supplied another example of its corporate censorship culture that must be addressed if Musk is going to restore free speech protections to the social media company. Twitter temporarily removed a post from Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo recommending against mRNA coronavirus vaccinations for men under 40.
Dr. Ladapo was sharing data that he said indicated an increase in cardiac conditions for men under 40 who have received mRNA coronavirus shots. Rather than allow experts and citizens to debate such risks, Twitter moved to prevent others from hearing from the top health official in one of the largest states in the Union. It was later restored, which is in sharp contrast to other experts and science writers suspended or barred due to their raising dissenting views on the social media site.
In his post, Ladapo linked to new guidance from his office recommending against the shots for under-40s and wrote
“Today, we released an analysis on COVID-19 mRNA vaccines the public needs to be aware of. This analysis showed an increased risk of cardiac-related death among men 18-39. FL will not be silent on the truth. Studying the safety and efficacy of any medications, including vaccines, is an important component of public health. Far less attention has been paid to safety and the concerns of many individuals have been dismissed – these are important findings that should be communicated to Floridians.”
Twitter immediately took the post down as violative of its coronavirus misinformation policies. It was later restored after public outcry.
It is not clear if the restoration would have occurred for other doctors given the past suspension and barring of experts questioning the efficacy of masks or vaccines. Even senators like Rand Paul were banned by companies like YouTube for questioning the efficacy of masks — a view now accepted as a legitimate concern.
The company seemingly wrote off free speech years ago. Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal was asked how Twitter would balance its efforts to combat misinformation with wanting to “protect free speech as a core value” and to respect the First Amendment. He responded dismissively that the company is “not to be bound by the First Amendment” and will regulate content as “reflective of things that we believe lead to a healthier public conversation.” Agrawal said the company would “focus less on thinking about free speech” because “speech is easy on the internet. Most people can speak. Where our role is particularly emphasized is who can be heard.”
I have written about five steps that Musk can take to restore free speech. However, the key is to break a culture of censorship at the company. If Musk moves Twitter out of San Francisco, it may help in that restructuring in replacing staff with those committed to free speech values. However, the key to restoring these values is to adopt what I have called the “first amendment model” for the company.

Once that occurs, it is imperative to look for deaths. When there is an 84% increased mortality, the death rate becomes even more significant combined with the other knowledge.

Ask a researcher trying to get approval for a drug if the study would continue when the incidence of adverse cardiac events increased by 10-30 times and if further studies (despite low numbers) showed a death rate of 84% higher than expected. The study would be stopped and reevaluated to find unrelated causation before resuming.

Ive had the opportunity to ask two different MD’s and their RN’s who took my vitals and any change in history, about the booster. All four failed to answer any of my concerns. Obvious issues:
1. It was not peer reviewed.
2. Who conducted the study? The authors are not even named.
3. They designed the study to compare incidence of death during the first 28 days “post-vax” to “later periods” up to 25 weeks. However, individuals who died in the first 28 days are not removed from the denominator in the second time period. How many people do you know can die twice? The effect is that it underestimates the risk in the second time period because it assume that people in the first time period are still able to die when they cannot.
4. How are they assessing cardiac-related deaths? They apparently looked at death certificates and any death that had an ICD-10 code under “other forms of disease.” Two problems with this. First, ICD-10 codes are not necessarily accurate or specific. They are used for billing. Second, there isn’t a clear rationale to include these specific ICD-10 codes and leave out certain other cardiac-related codes. They include cardiac arrest, but that could simply mean the heart stopped due to any number of non-cardiac issues. Overall, it is a random, incomplete list defined not by a hypothesis, but by the arbitrary structure of hospital billing.
5. No verification of diagnoses. They didn’t verify ICD-10 codes by looking at medical records. The anonymous authors actually note this in the “limitations” section. Namely, they “cannot determine the causative nature of a participant’s death. We used death certificates and not medical records. COVID testing status was unknown for those who did not die of/with Covid. Cardiac-related deaths were ascertained if an ACME code of I3-152 were on their death certificate, thus, the underlying cause of death may not be cardiac-related.”
5. Covid Confounding: In the methods section, the authors mention the exclusion of people with COVID on their death certificate, and they also say they excluded people with a documented COVID infection. This makes it sound like they had data on who had tested positive for COVID, right? But later on, they say COVID testing status was unknown, and the only info they had on COVID status was based on the death certificates. So they didn’t know whether or not people had COVID, unless it was listed on their death certificate. In short, because immunity from the vaccine doesn’t develop on day 1 after vaccination, susceptibility to COVID itself confounds this analysis. For this study, a dive into medical records would be warranted for many reasons, including to know whether or not people had tested positive shortly before they died.
7. Small sample size: There were only 20 deaths among males aged 18-39 who had received an mRNA vaccine. This sample size is not large enough to draw strong conclusions.
The sample size is plenty big enough if you are one of the deaths. You are defending a losing cause. However, if you are Dimunist, that equates to 20 more votes for your feral Party of criminals. So jab, jab, jab away, snowflake.

I apologize profusely for thinking that readers of the Professor’s blog have enough interest to actually research the issues about which he posts. This did not take all that much work. 2 embedded hyperlinks. Perhaps that is my mistake for thinking readers on this blog are (or wish to be) informed.
(Finally, this delineation between “analysis” and “study” seems to be really getting people worked up. If y’all have a link to some other guidance from the FL Department of Health, please post it. This is literally all they have shared. Frankly, if an “analysis” is somehow less in-depth than a “study”, and an “analysis” was actually relied upon for making this recommendation, it should be even more concerning.
You are such a deceitful individual. It is non-stop. I referred to Turley’s essay including the quotes used, and not to the links. You are trying to salvage a reputation that doesn’t exist.
So what does the link lead us to?

Note the word analysis which is in the document you referred me to. Be careful about using the word study when it isn’t applicable.
At the end of the report, it says, “The analysis can be found here. The guidance can be found here.”
Take note, again, of the word analysis. Your problem ATS is you are dishonest, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

You don’t know what you are talking about. Doctors analyze the data before treating their patients. They may not run studies on patients, but they analyze them in multiple ways. They might write their analysis in their note, they might have grand rounds specifically for the analysis of a problem, etc. Lapado made himself perfectly clear.
S. Meyer you moron, he literally TOLD you how to get to the actual analysis that the FL department of health used to arrive at it’s recommendation. You go off ranting about links without every going further than actually hitting the link and see for yourself what he is talking about. Use, Your. Brain. S, Meyer .
Twitter is essentially a kind of animated message board. We’ve had message boards on the internet for many years. The problem with Twitter may have begun when it became a kind of quango. For me, I’m also not comfortable with a foreigner running an American-based company in direct conflict with our values. Sure, it’s a discretionary issue, but we rightly or wrongly expect it to reflect our American values. Years ago, NJ Chief Justice Wilentz wrote an interesting opinion about shopping malls which tried to prohibit the distribution of political brochures. Although they were private property, they were funtioning as a kind of public square.
The rest of the so-called developed world (EU, UK) has recommended against additional shots for anyone under 50 with a few named co-moribidity exceptions. Did they get censored?
Please find me a definition of “developed world” from this millennium that excludes Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
