I have a column out this morning on the widespread claim by media and political figures that democracy may be lost if the GOP prevails in the midterm elections. The over-the-top rhetoric was recently captured in the unhinged claim of historian Michael Beschloss on MSNBC that a Republican win could lead not only to the end of history books and democracy but lead to the killing of our children. MSNBC later followed up with an interview with actor and Director Rob Reiner who seemed to struggle to outdo Beschloss in the apocalyptic predictions.
On MSNBC’s “The ReidOut,” Anchor Joy Reid brought up the possibility of “rape panels” for women seeking abortions if the GOP wins and asked why the election is this close. Reiner then went full fringe:
“Because the other side reality does not mean anything. They are only interested in power. They are only interested, and they will do anything to get the power. And they are willing to kill, literally kill, to get the power. You can’t have a conversation with them. The only thing we can do is try to hold on to the House and a couple of Senate seats. It will be very hard. If we do not do that, this might be the last election we have in a democracy.”
It is unfortunately right on message for not just MSNBC but many of our leaders, including President Biden. On MSNBC, Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Pa.) previously agreed with John Heilemann that Democrats must “scare the crap out of [voters] and get them to come out.”
However, as discussed today in my Hill column, the claims ignore both the historical and constitutional realities of this country. The “democracy or death” pitch is not only failing to shift the direction of most polls, it fails to consider the proven resilience of our constitutional system and the commitment of our people to the rule of law.
Shocked, just shocked, I tell you. From Kari Lake in Arizona wanting to secede from the Union and handing out rocket launchers if she wins to “rape panels” – these people have shown that they think the American Voter is as stupid as they are. Never in my entire life have I ever heard such ridiculous drivel from the likes of these media trolls and actual voted-in Senators and Representatives. And, and, and I’m afraid they believe this crap and there are those out there just as insane who do also. They are attempting to get these fringe nuts to riot if republicans win and cause even more havoc and unrest. It is a sad thing to see the Jefferson/Adams campaigns in modern day America.

Well….as I see it….the Democrat policies on Abortion qualify them as being the Party that IS killing children.

The rule of law is great. But unfortunately there are two set of rules and justice at the present time. One set for Democrats where there is no accountability and another for Republicans where things are made up against them.
If that’s the case, Rob, then I suppose you and your iilk will be pouring the vast majorities of your personal wealth into maintaining your status quo, right, RIGHT? lol. What con artists they are, what contempt they have for their ‘fans.’
Only when Rob and his ilk are willing to sacrifice their money in a real way, will I believe anything of doom they say.

But ok to say if I win the election it was fair, if I loose it was fraud?
I don’t get it. Candidates from which political party are saying they will not accept the election results if they loose?
Which political party made it illegal to talk about abortion? Which political party made it illegal to talk about your same sex partner in a school? Which political party had their leader not show up to transfer power to the person that won the election?
But you should be fearful that one of the political parties is fearful that violence will be used if they loose an election.

This silly commentary of “democracy or death” is really an unhinged notion of “democrat party or death.” And of course, nothing could be further from the truth. Those of us to the right of center want little except the government out of our lives, a free market, and to be left alone to provide for our families.
Hopefully this will come to rest after Tuesday. But probably not – mental illness is not cured in a day.
We can take it s a sign of their defeat that the Democrats have to resort to hyperbole and outright lies because they have absolutely no accomplishments to talk about. The louder they scream, the more they draw attention to their failed political agenda. Keep screaming Rob…you are the poster child for the hysterical Democratic demagogue.

Democrats are always doing precisely what Republicans are accused of doing precisely at the time the allegations are made.
The prospect of losing an election, and losing decisively, can be very painful.

I was wishing our fearless Joebuysthem, although I have cancer, would have promised to cure mental illness. Then perhaps we could get back to the business of running America not ruining it. It’s so sad to see the wonderful melting pot turn into a chamber pot, with a leader who talks like a 6th grader in the lunch room. And I ponder those who keep/kept saying they didn’t like the way President Trump spoke! Or that President Trump was immoral and then we have the Pelosi’s and Biden’s who fidelity seems to be a foreign concept.
Truly a sad time when the news is not much more than full propaganda, your vote doesn’t count or isn’t counted, and the POTUS is MIA.
