Last year, we discussed the declaration of WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus that censorship was needed to combat what he called the “infodemic.” It was a jarring position given the censorship of experts and scientists who have now been vindicated in raising questions over mask protection to natural immunities to school closings to the origins of Covid 19. Nevertheless, U.S. Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Robert Califf added his own voice to call for censorship. Califf declared that life expectancy rates are being suppressed due to “misinformation.” His call for action against ill-defined “disinformation” or “misinformation” is being echoed throughout the Biden Administration.
In a CNBC interview, Califf lashed out at “health misinformation” which he said was one of his top priorities to address through “specific authorities at FDA, FTC and other areas.”
Califf noted:
“You think about the impact of a single person reaching a billion people on the internet all over the world, we just weren’t prepared for that. We don’t have societal rules that are adjudicating it quite right, and I think it’s impacting our health in very detrimental ways.”
He does not elaborate on what would be those “societal rules” for “adjudication” of access to information. However, it holds a familiar ring for free speech advocates.
In recent months, the Twitter Files revealed an extensive and secret effort by the FBI and other agencies to censor citizens on social media. I testified on that effort. New emails uncovered in the ongoing Missouri v. Biden litigation reportedly show that the Biden Administration’s censorship efforts extended to Facebook to censor private communications on its WhatsApp messaging service.
We also know of backchannel communications with the CDC and other agencies. As officials like Califf call for continued crackdowns, there is no recognition of how the government worked to silence opposing views that have been vindicated in recent months.
For years, scientists faced censorship for even raising the lab theory as a possible explanation for the virus. Their reputations and careers were shredded by a media flash mob. The Washington Post declared this a “debunked” coronavirus “conspiracy theory.” The New York Times’ Science and Health reporter Apoorva Mandavilli was calling any mention of the lab theory “racist.”
When a Chinese researcher told Fox News that this was man-made, the network was attacked and the left-leaning PolitiFact slammed her a “pants on fire rating.”
The mask mandate and other pandemic measures like the closing of schools are now cited as fueling emotional and developmental problems in children. The closing of schools and businesses was challenged by some critics as unnecessary. Many of those critics were also censored. It now appears that they may have been right. Many countries did not close schools and did not experience increases in Covid. However, we are now facing alarming drops in testing scores and alarming rises in medical illness among the young.
The point is only that there were countervailing indicators on mask efficacy and a basis to question the mandates. Yet, there was no real debate because of the censorship supported by many Democratic leaders in social media. To question such mandates was declared a public health threat and what the WHO called our “infodemic.”
A lawsuit was filed by Missouri and Louisiana and joined by leading experts, including Drs. Jayanta Bhattacharya (Stanford University) and Martin Kulldorff (Harvard University). Bhattacharya previously objected to the suspension of Dr. Clare Craig after she raised concerns about Pfizer trial documents. Those doctors were the co-authors of the Great Barrington Declaration, which advocated for a more focused Covid response that targeted the most vulnerable population rather than widespread lockdowns and mandates. Many are now questioning the efficacy and cost of the massive lockdown as well as the real value of masks or the rejection of natural immunities as an alternative to vaccination. Yet, these experts and others were attacked for such views just a year ago. Some found themselves censored on social media for challenging claims of Dr. Fauci and others.
The media has quietly acknowledged the science questioning mask efficacy and school closures without addressing its own role in attacking those who raised these objections.
What is most striking about Califf’s comments is the failure to address how censorship in the last three years may have increased public health risks by suppressing opposing or dissenting scientific views. Indeed, just this week, a new British study came out directly refuting CDC guidance on masks and suggesting that, while not appreciably reducing the risk of serious Covid symptoms, masks may have caused health problems. Other studies have rejected the mask efficacy argument though this remains a matter of intense debate.
The point is that there is now a debate after social media companies allowed people to discuss these views and the media is no longer labelling dissenters as conspiracists or racists.
Before we continue to make these government efforts a top priority, we should have a public debate over the means used to combat misinformation and what constitutes misinformation. That should start with a full investigation of past government efforts to censor or blacklist individuals or groups.
Denying God is the ultimate hate speech and the ultimate misinformation.

There are hundreds of studies on masks. The CDC and WHO both published guides to non-pharmacological measures to deal with respiratory illness. Their science was clear that masks were ineffective for these types of illnesses.
The reason is basic physics – masks (not even N95s) are capable of stopping infectious viral particles (virions). A virion is 1/8th of a micron in size. An N95 can only stop 60% of 1-micron particles. They can’t even test at 1/8th of a micron, but you can be sure that vastly more than 40% get through. But even if it was 40%, it doesn’t take many and your mask will, in just one breath, allow enough infectious particles to give you COVID.
Sweden has some of the best results in the world. They didn’t mask. Vaccines were voluntary. There were no lockdowns. Meanwhile next door neighbor Germany did far worse and they locked down, had mandatory masking (with Bavaria & Berlin both going to N95s and it didn’t matter) and mandatory vaccination.
Israel did all that and had FOUR WAVES of mandatory vaccination and did worse the US. And in the US the lockdown/mask the aggregates of the states that forced you to do everything were not any better than those that didn’t force you to do all kinds of idiotic things. In fact, adjusted for age, Florida was actually Top-10 while Lockdown Heaven CA was, again adjusted for age, only mid-pack despite it’s Draconian lockdowns.

Alex Jones and Infowars are specifically mentioned in government-developed online censorship tools marketed to Big Tech, Mike Adams of Natural News revealed on The Alex Jones Show Wednesday.
This revelation is the latest to come from documents related to discovery in Missouri’s First Amendment lawsuit against the Biden administration which has already shown how the government has been working with Big Tech to censor conservatives.
“If you go through the discovery of [the lawsuit] – which I have done – it is every smoking gun that you need to prosecute the federal government for violations of civil rights, censorship, and First Amendment violations,” said Adams. “Infowars is named in those documents, and so is Brighteon & Natural News … Alex Jones is NAMED in those documents. They targeted us [with] illegal censorship…”
“We are specifically named on target lists that were handed over to Big Tech along with government-developed tools for Big Tech to censor our speech by simply labeling everything we say as ‘misinformation.’”
Fast forward to minute 33:47 to hear the exchange:
Adams also stressed how monumental this news is for the liberty movement’s legal fight with the feds:
“It’s no longer a question of ‘did the federal government violate the First Amendment rights of the American people?’” said Adams. “The good news is that [we] and everybody who is named in the discovery has absolute standing before the courts.”
“So, the government can’t have these lawsuits thrown out and say ‘you don’t have standing, we didn’t censor you,’ – uh ya, you did! It’s already in discovery, it’s already on the record.”
Adams’ remarks come just a day after it was revealed that an official in the State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC) reached out to technology companies in early 2020 to pitch government censorship tools designed to tackle online “disinformation.” The Federalist reports:
“… the State Department marketed this censorship technology through its Global Engagement Center. In other words, our tax dollars not only funded the development of tools to silence speech that dissented from the regime’s narrative. They also paid for government employees to act as sales reps pitching the censorship products to Big Tech.”
A series of disclosed emails reveals how the GEC official peddled a so-called “Disinfo Cloud” to the popular networking platform LinkedIn.
The Federalist calls these emails explosive, and goes on to detail the capabilities of the Disinfo Cloud:
[The emails] establish that in 2020, federal government actors contacted social media giants to promote GEC’s Disinfo Cloud. GEC represented that this government platform provided “companies, technology, and tools” to “assist with identifying, understanding, and addressing disinformation.” Then it gave private tech companies access to Disinfo Cloud.
Almost identical to how GEC described Disinfo Cloud in congressional testimony, the State Department’s webpage marketed it as a “one-stop shop” to “identify and then test tools that counter propaganda and disinformation.” “Fact checking” and “media authentication” are just a couple of the types of technologies available through the dashboard.

Jonathan: When “free speech” involves spreading mis and disinformation regarding Covid-19 it continues to kill us! As of April 14 the CDC reports that 1,128, 404 Americans have died from the virus. Many of those deaths could have prevented–but for the false information being promoted by Donald Trump, his administration, Fox News and other anti-vaxers on the right. I had a neighbor who died from Covid-19. His widow says he watched Fox all day–almost every day. He refused to wear a mask or get vaccinated. So, yes, misinformation when it comes to public health can have deadly consequences. It should be confronted and that is what the Biden administration has tried to do. You call it “censorship”. But you have never been censored for all your false claims about Covid. Has the Hill refused to publish one of your columns that disputed the efficacy of wearing face masks? Can you name any individual or entity that has been censored and preventing from engaging in social media over their false claims about the virus? Junk science is every where. But that doesn’t mean public health official should just ignore it. They have a duty to inform the public with timely and accurate information and point out the inaccuracies in misinformation when it appears. The public health demands no less!

It is now well understood and well documented — here in Massachusetts at least and I think in national numbers put out by the CDC — that while over a million people may have died WITH Covid in the last few years, we actually do not know how many died BECAUSE OF Covid. Data published by the state of Massachusetts on hospitalizations indicates that the number of people who died BECAUSE OF Covid is significantly less (60% less or more maybe) than the number who died WITH it-*. The state inexplicably has never gone to the next step (after doing it for hospitalizations) of reporting WITH/FROM death numbers. The reason appears to me to be because the FROM number is even lower than can be inferred from the hospitalization number
There is no doubt that if you had a family member in the FROM category, no matter how much smaller that category is vs. the WITH category number, that that was a crappy way to die. But just this one example of all the misinformation since January 2020 led to the fact that people could not be with that family member at the time of death (if the death happened in 2020 or 2021) even if the people who wanted to visit could not have caught the virus from the dying person OR spread it to other people in the facility.
*The ultimate answer is going to be found in some excess death studies that cannot even be fully done for a few more years. Keeping things in context clarifies what he was saying. He was just saying all masks are ineffective or that they shouldn’t be worn contrary to what critics of Fauci said.
That’s what disinformation looks like. When people deliberately leave out context. Be it through ignorance or intentionally.
I wear a mask only when asked to. And I’m just being polite. Over his career Fauci had made many cottdoctory statements. This man was long over due to leave.

A better solution would have been to require people who actually had Covid to wear a mask instead of forcing school kids to wear a mask. The key word is “could”. Fauci or anyone else has ever said masks were going to protect people 100%.

There are two questions
Will masks stop Covid. The answer is NO. It has always been no.
Slow is irrelevant. In fact slowing Covid increases the risk it becomes endemic.
But it does not reduce the total number of deaths or infections – it likely increass them.
The sencond is what was said.
The answer is at one time or another and not based on actual changing knowledge

He is right more than he knows. Government misinformation about Remdesivir, masks, isolation, HCQ, Ivermectin, and the experimental shots they mislabeled as ‘vaccine’ and ‘safe and effective’ appear to have cost many lives. They pretend to wonder what could be causing so many young people to drop dead without ever mentioning the experimental ‘vaccine’. Could it be that we are seeing one of the results of their big experiment? Maybe. Will they learn from it? No.
I suspect we would have been far better off if we let doctors treat patients without the jack-booted government getting involved at all. Especially if they hadn’t funded creation of a deadly virus in a foreign lab with safety protocols so poor a leak was almost certain.
It seems that members of the government apparatus who aren’t merely stupid are amoral or actively evil. We seem to have plenty of all three types.
We need a mechanism for accountability. A scoreboard reflecting the accuracy of reporting. A price to pay when government agencies are caught violating fundamental constitutional rights like freedom of speech, especially when using or coercing private companies to do their dirty work so they can avoid detection.
Until individuals pay a price, financial, prison time or public notoriety of their actions – it will continue.
