Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs Secretly Sought the Censorship of Political Critics

Office of the Governor

Various news sites are now reporting that Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) is the latest politician who has sought blatant censorship of political critics by social media companies. Shortly before the 2020 election (when many of us were writing about the expanding censorship calls by Democratic politicians), Hobbs allegedly sought to silence her critics on Twitter. Many were criticizing 2017 posts in which she claimed former President Donald Trump had a “neo-nazi base.” Hobbs considered such criticism to be intolerable and demanded that these citizens be censored.

A conservative site reported that Hobbs said Trump had a “neo-nazi base” while she was serving as a Democrat state senator in 2017. Hobbs’ tweet echoed criticism that Trump praised Neo-Nazi rioters in Charlottesville. (Trump has denied that allegation and pointed to various times after the riot where he condemned those extremist elements).

“The President is on the side of the freaking Nazis. Don’t just say stuff – DO SOMETHING,” she added.

She added: “It took you a day and a half to figure this out? Also if you’re not condemning @POTUS for not condemning nazis, it’s just words.”

It now turns out that Hobbs was irate at being criticized and reached out to Twitter to censor her critics. Fox News reported:

On Nov. 13, 2020, Hobbs emailed Twitter — using her official Arizona secretary of state email — asking the support team to take action against her online trolls.

Twitter asked for more information and for Hobbs to provide examples for her request, which Hobbs was unable to provide.

Hobbs responded that she was being harassed and abused by the “alt-right.” She added

“I am not sure I can provide the information you are asking for because I reported and then blocked multiple users at the same time,. The alt-right got a hold of a 3-year-old tweet on my account and have been sending harassing, abusive, and threatening tweets and direct messages for the last 2 days.”

That message is chilling in a number of respects. First, it is clearly an abuse of her office to be used for the purposes of censorship of political critics. Second, she admits that she blocked the critics but still wants the company to prevent others from hearing such views. Third, she does not allege that the story is false and admits that it was her tweet. She simply does not want people talking about it.

It is a raw and unambiguous effort of a high-ranking official to censor political speech. It is also an example of what I have called “censorship by surrogate.” Hobbs secretly sought to deny free speech to citizens through allies in these social media companies. The Arizona legislature should investigate these allegations and hold Hobbs accountable for any attack on political speech.

  1. Professor Turley,

Have you ever noticed that, with respect to politicians and social media censorship, you deem a request to censor as more nefarious than a request (i.e. “censorship by surrogate,”), but when discussing Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election, you fall back to the position that he was merely asking the state electors to offer an alternative slate by signing and attesting to their duly elected status as their respective state’s electors? This, despite evidence to the contrary, that many felt pressured or tricked to falsify documents because they were told to do so from the President. In your mind, how do you reconcile this difference?

    1. The difference of course being, the President of the United States has the power to interact with state actors.

The Govt has no power to “ask” private actors to censor as the governments proxies. Because the Federal govt only has specific enumerated powers.

  2. Dems at this point are not only above the law, they are the law. Selective justice is the very def of communism. America may not recover. Republicans are mostly weak and unengaged. Stage 4 cancer now.

  3. Well JT she is a Dim. What would you expect? Ethics? Morality? Legal behavior? Perish the thought.

  4. Trump did praise neo-Nazi rioters in Charlottesville. He later took it back and then reversed himself again and doubled down. He does that for a lot of things – he is not always consistent. The neo-Nazis though know he is on their side.

    1. Another oft-repeated lie about Trump. Get some new prevarication material. Worth remembering the only group with a permit to protest that day were the “Nazis.”

    2. Trump did praise neo-Nazi rioters in Charlottesville.

Leftists are forced to lie because the facts are always in conflict what they are told to believe.

      1. iowan2: FACK CHECK: On 8/12/2017 Trump made is first statement about Charlottesville: “We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides”. But he added “you also had people that were fine people, on both sides”.

Why would Trump qualify his prepared statement with “both sides”? Because he didn’t want to alienate his natural allies–the white nationalist and neo-Nazis. Subsequent events have proved that. Now the the “Unite the Right” crowd, the white nationalists and neo-Nazis, have been have his most loyal supporters. They showed up on Jan. 6 in large numbers.

When Joe Biden declared his candidacy in 2019 he was asked about the significance of Charlottesville: “With those words, the president of the United States assigned a moral equivalence between those spreading hate and those with the courage to stand against it”. No doubt–Biden’s forthright condemnation of the white nationalist violence in Charlottesville was one reason he won the 2020 election. Voters rejected Trump’s thinly veiled white nationalism.

Here’s a Q for you. Which side are you on? Will you also condemn the neo-Nazi violence in Charlottesville like Joe Biden?

        1. Why would Trump qualify his prepared statement with “both sides”?

“Er … because it was true or do you believe every person contesting removal of history from the public square was ipso fact evil. The reverse is also true: there were lots of bad people on both sides that day as well. Funny how the Left never allows for the obvious alternative instead prefering the nefarious one. I guess they only see in others what they see in themselves.

        2. Dennis, you are an idiot. There were good people on both sides and bad people on each side. You have a warped mind that reinterprets everything to fit your paranoia.

    3. No, Trump never praised neo-nazi rioters in Charlottesville.

For that matter, there were no neo-nazi rioters in Charlottesville. The Friday night event, which was a neo-nazi event, was not a riot, it was a completely peaceful and lawful demonstration. Trump never spoke one word about that event, since he was never asked about it.

The Saturday riot was a completely unrelated event, at which a right-wing group of mostly decent people, but that did probably include some neo-nazis, were attacked by left-wing thugs, and some of them defended themselves. Even the neo-nazis who were probably at that event were not rioters but innocent victims. There were also many decent people on the left-wing side, who did not participate in the violent attack, and were there only to peacefully express their opinion. Their wrong opinion, but this is America, where they’re entitled to do that. They were no more responsible for the violence than the right-wing demonstrators were. Hence Trump’s completely true statement that there were many good people on both sides of the riot.

    1. It is the Biden regime that sends teams of heavily armed FBI agents in pre-dawn raids to arrest pro-life Christians.

      1. And kill a 70+ old man, he was too dangerous to arrest alive, so they premptively executed him, by passing that cumbersome rule of law trope

        1. I concur – All of us fellows over 65 collecting S.S. and Pensions are targets of the Man.
Why ‘pay-out’ to an old geezer when you can just shoot them.

          1. Was he carrying the sniper rifle when he was shot? Why haven’t the body cam videos been made public?

        2. Ashli Babbitt was murdered in a menacing and wrong shooting by an officer of the law who, at that time, was ultimately working under the command of Nancy Pelosi.

One must question the killing of the 70+-year-old man based on the left’s management of the Babbitt shooting. I believe there is a possibility that leftists are creating situations where death occurs or is more likely to occur. We see this in how the left uses overkill with the arrests and jailing of J6 persons. They keep inching more toward autocracy.

The anonymous posting was ignorant, demonstrating an inability to think.

        3. A man who had trouble walking, who was the sole caregiver of his 50-year-old blind son, and who had — oh, fear! — all of two ‘likes’ for his Facebook posts, which were in themselves a serious symptom of his obvious mental illness. Where was the local sheriff? The social workers? The mental health professionals, all of whom are continuously touted when the victim is a black person?? Oh, right! Wrong color.

  6. If God came down to earth and bellowed out across the land “Hitler was right!”, would getting it straight from the horse’s mouth like that settle it once and for all, justifying a ban on obnoxious blacks and their undisciplined children from restaurants, or would there be resistance to God’s proclamation?

        1. Just finished watching it. Kelsey and Leslie were great. Interesting to see Chris Farley’s brother, Kevin, in the lead. I already knew Chris was a patriot. Thank you, Kansas. Really enjoyed it.

  8. Of all the midterms, this one stank the highest to heaven, IMO. She was a glaring example of election engineering pretty much out in the open, because her party, in their hubris, no longer gives a sheet about appearances. Katie is the fraud-iest of frauds, after Kamala. I am simultaneously looking forward to and absolutely dreading 2024. Our Republic hangs by a thread. ☹️

    1. I tend to disagree about Kamala being a fraud. I think she’s exactly what she appears to be — a genuine idiot. She’s definitely not faking it.

As for our republic hanging by a thread: There is reason to hope — and I don’t cite this source as an endorsement for the source but because in this particular instance the article serves as one-stop shopping for 3 Rasmussen polls, and I tend to find Rasmussen highly reliable:

Democrats will have to do a LOT of vote-tampering to overcome that sentiment, and the more tampering they do, the harder it will be to hide.

      1. The Dems are professional vote-tamperers – I mean that literally, they get hundreds of millions of dollars to do it, e.g., in Zuckerbucks. They now don’t care if it’s out in the open. They know the election will go in their favor if they vote-tamper, and there will be no real consequences. Witness Katie Hobbs and the AZ courts refusing to do anything about it in spite of Kari Lake’s valiant efforts.

        1. I prefer to look at the glass as half full rather than half empty, because with a defeatest attitude one contributes to their own defeat.

“Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man’s company …”

          1. Yeah, I’m not defeatist. IMHO the GOP needs to fire up its base and beat the Dems at their own game. That means getting out an army for early voting and ballot harvesting, e.g., at every old-folks home in the entire state. The problem right now, from what I can see, is apathy.

The playing field has changed drastically in four years but elections are still winnable on the new field if people would awake from their stupor (they’re too busy taking their kids to soccer or getting pizza to care – not that those are bad things in themselves), and if an army of fired-up GOP local-level leaders would arise to wake the masses up.

            1. The election is still more than a year away. Generally, the coach doesn’t try to fire up the team with a Knute Rockne speech until game time, because people don’t have the capacity to stay fired up without getting burned out. Crunch time won’t begin until this time next year, and even then it will be just beginning, except of course for all of the groundwork preparations done by those with somewhat less-limited attention span than the average citizen.
Meanwhile, I don’t think it matters how many Zucker bucks that peckerfaced moron spreads around when 2/3 of the citizenry say no way, Jose.

              1. I would advocate for a dress rehearsal in August-November 2023. Early voting starts pretty soon. There are many consequential races at the state and local level this fall. Firing up the base now would have direct benefits in that regard, as well as give us practice for one year from now.

    2. You dread 2024 because the vote is not restricted as the Founders intended and the lunatics have taken over the asylum. The Founders reserved the power to entitle citizens to vote and the application of vote criteria to the States. One man, one vote democracy is antithetical to the original concept of “democracy” and inexorably results in Karl Marx’s “dictatorship of the proletariat.” All increments of the imposition of communism in America must have been decided unconstitutional and immediately struck down by Judicial Review. Alas, they weren’t and no office or branch has paid any price. What is the price for dereliction, subversion, and abrogation—nay, treason—against the nation and its fundamental law by the very appointees who swore an oath to juridically support the literal manifest tenor of the Constitution?

  9. I do not live in Arizona but perhaps the Arizona State House can impeach Gov Katie Hobbs for high crimes, misdemeanors or malfeasance. Give her a taste of her own medicine and canceling.

A legislative panel is meeting next month to investigate the social media conduct of executive officials including Gov. Katie Hobbs before she was elected as governor.

Speaker of the House Ben Toma, R-Peoria, announced the creation of a new Ad Hoc Committee on Oversight, Accountability, and Big Tech Thursday afternoon. The committee is tasked with exploring legal and constitutional issues surrounding censorship by government officials on the internet.

  10. Jonathan: So what else was interesting in the news this week? I saw an article in the Arizona Republic 2 days ago. It’s about Boris Epshtyn, DJT’s close personal advisor and the probable Co-conspirator 6 in Jack Smith indictment of DJT over the Jan. 6 insurrection. Epshtyn was sitting at the table in the courtroom with DJT and his lawyers during the arraignment. Yeah, that Boris Epshtyn.

Anyway, Epshtyn is an interesting and despicable character for other reasons. The AR article (8/10/2023) points out that in 2021 Epshtyn was arrested in Scottsdale after 2 women accused him of groping them inside a nightclub–grabbing their breasts and genitalia. There is police body cam video of the arrest outside the nightclub. The AR also reports that Epshtyn engaged in similar conduct in 2014 and was arrested. Why was Epshtyn in Arizona in 2021 when he apparently lives in New Jersey? He was working with the state Republicans to try to overturn the 2020 election. Yeah, that Boris Epshtyn.

So there you have it folks. Two guys, one who has been held liable for groping and sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll–and the other who likes to grope young women in nightclubs in Arizona–both comparing notes about all the women they have sexually assaulted and working together to overturn our Democracy! What a perfect match!. And this is why I call Epshtyn the “Rasputin” of Mar-a-Lago and DJT’s “evil twin”. Birds of a feather flock together. Anyone disagree?

Bombshell – Obama High School Friend: Barry Soetoro “Portrayed Himself as a Foreigner”

“We knew Barry as, just common knowledge, that girls were never anything that he was ever interested in, and as a young teenager….as a young girl…..it was clear to me that Barry was strictly into men,” Pope said. She also indicated that she had no desires for him and said that they didn’t get along, largely in part to the fact that he was “a pathological liar, even back then.” Pope said that Soetoro’s lies were “egotistical” and always to “boost himself.” She referenced Barry “bumming cigarettes,” and said that as soon as someone would give him a cigarette, he would instantly turn and walk away, after he had gotten what he wanted. In Pope’s words, “He seemed to be incapable or genuine about anything.” Ms. Pope said that Barry Soetoro was always “getting with these older white men.” She recognized that he was one that had cocaine, which she said was “newsworthy” in the groups she hung out in. They then began to believe it was Soetoro’s engagements (ie. Homosexual acts) with these older white men is how he “procured” cocaine. “In other words, he was having sex with these older white guys, and that’s how he was getting his cocaine to be able to freebase,” she told Manning. Mia Pope also said that she actually saw Obama dress up as a transvestite. She remarked that it was during the era of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, starring Tim Curry, that this took place.

But before I read in the newspaper that Mimi Alford’s just-released memoir, Once Upon A Secret: My Affair With President John F. 2. Joe Biden.
Credibly accused of fingering an aid in the capital.
On video many times, kissing and inappropriately touching women without their consent.
On video many times inappropriately touching children.
On video many times, making misogynistic and sexist remarks to women and young girls
On video many times inexplicably sniffing peoples hair.
Accused by his own daughter of inappropriately, taking showers with her as a girl.
      Anyone disagree?
The apple didn’t fall far from the tree, but at least he paid for his satisfaction of his deviant desires

      1. He’s so close to a new choice for running mate in 2024 he can smell her.

    3. So, Epshtyn has been arrested twice on complaints of groping women in nightclubs. Has he ever been charged or convicted? Must not be, or you would certainly mention it. In nightclubs frequented by young people, the possibility of sex is always in the air. But not in ordinary daily or professional life. Joe Biden has a history of touching, sniffing and nuzzling women, even girls, in professional places. He also seems to have a habit of taking showers with very young women. He seems to have actually raped Tara Reade in the Capitol. If you are throwing mud around, much more should be directed to J R Biden than Trump’s advisor.

      1. edwardmahl: I expected you would try to defend Epshteyn. So here is the record of his arrests as reported in the AR story. In 2021 Epshteyn was arrested and charged with “assault touching”, “attempted sexual abuse”, “harassment-repeated acts” and “disorderly conduct-disruptive behavior or fighting”. According to AR “the first three charges were dismissed, but Epshteyn pleaded guilty in Scottsdale City Court to disorderly conduct and served probation. The conviction was set aside by the Court in January 2023”. Probably because Epshteyn served out his probation. There are probably a lot of reasons prosecutors didn’t want to go to a trial on the other charges. The cost of a lengthy trial. But not because the complaints of the two women were not credible. So in the 2021 case Boris was “charged” but pled out to lesser charges.

In the 2014 case “Epshteyn signed a plea deal, agreeing not to have contact with the victim and not to return to the venue, pay court fees, and to complete 25 hours of community service”. In the 2021 case the owners of the other club said they would never permit Epshteyn to return.

As to Joe Biden what proof do you have he has a “history of touching, sniffing and nuzzling women, even girls…”? Any prosecutions or court cases? “Seems” is not proof! Tara Reade accused Biden of rape. Did she file a police report? Nope. Did she sue Biden civilly? Nope. That’s because her claims were not credible. This is unlike the two civil cases brought by E. Jean Carroll in which she was recently awarded $5 million in compensatory and punitive damages against DJT–and will probably get an additional $10 million in the second case. You make a lot of spurious claims about Joe Biden but where is the meat? No, the two guys who have a “history” of groping and sexually assaulting women are DJT and Boris Epshteyn. They both think they can get away with anything–not just in trying to overturn a Democratic election but also “touching, sniffing and nuzzling women”!

    4. C’mon Dennis, the king of whataboutism, where are your excuses for the sniffer in chief. If he behaves the way he does with the cameras rolling, its not hard to imagine what he is capable of in private. Then again, maybe he does it in public just for the sick satisfaction of seeing if the brain washed reprobates will defend him.

  11. KATIE “KARLA MARX” HOBBS
    __________________________

    Wait!

Katie “Karla Marx” Hobbs falsely and preposterously claimed that former President Donald Trump had a “neo-nazi base.”

    Ain’t that a hoot?

Real President Donald J. Trump has a “Constitution and Bill of Rights base,” the base of the documents that constitute the very definition of conservative.

The American severely-restricted-vote republic was and remains utterly conservative from the Revolutionary War against Great Britain to this day.

Katie just hates the freedom provided by the American Founders through their Constitution and Bill of Rights.

She traded it all in for the “free stuff” and “free status” taken “from each according to his ability” and given “…to each according to his needs” by her great-great-grandfather Karl Marx.

One problem for Katie and Katie’s Kommunists:  All that central planning, control of the means of production (i.e. unconstitutional regulation), redistribution of wealth, and social engineering are antithetical, anti-American, illicit, and just plain unconstitutional.

In other words, ya’all can’t do that —- in America.

Let’s have Katie “Karla Marx” Hobbs swear allegiance to the American Founders, the Constiution and Bill of Rights, Americans and America.

    C’mon, man, Kate!

In America, committed and ambitious people succeed and prosper by pursuing their happiness through Freedom and Self-Reliance.

Parasites and dependents go to the back of the church where, no doubt, God will bless you (and perhaps teach you to fish and feed yourselves) – beggars can’t be choosers.

    Thou Shalt Not Covet

    Thou Shalt Not Steal

The singular American failure remains the grossly negligent and utterly derelict Supreme Court.

  12. Look when it comes to free speech versus censorship I have only 1 question: when did it become ok to make someone stop speaking (you can’t control) instead of not LISTENING (you can control)? I think it’s weird how that became a thing. Treat social media like it’s a TV- if you don’t like the post scroll…

    1. That is a good point and pointing out the differences between two ideologies.
One wants censorship of anything that is critical of them, their narrative or critical of their leadership or the lack there of.
The other just changes the channel or, as you point out, just scroll past.
I have called for the deletion of ATS comments as he has egregiously violated the civility rule, all by his own doing.
But I have never called for censorship of Dennis, Natasha, Sammy or others. I just scroll past. That is the difference. I would welcome a debate with someone who was honest in their debate bringing facts to the table and argue them and their POV.
But not someone who thinks the heckler veto applies to the 1stA.

  13. Jonathan, The time has come to initiate an organized team to reform our judiciary. Without a judiciary in which Americans have confidence, we stand on sinking ground. You personally, individually, are the one to develop this group of legal professionals who will rescue us from total collapse.

    1. Reforming the judiciary requires first reforming the legal profession, which requires first reforming legal education. As Turley recently wrote:

“For years, there have been complaints that law reviews have actively discriminated against conservative writers in favor of far left academics. The denial of such publishing opportunities is part of a rising viewpoint intolerance on campuses. As we have previously discussed, faculties have purged most conservatives and libertarians from their ranks. As conservative faculty have retired or resigned, they have been replaced by largely liberal candidates. Many faculties have only a few conservatives or Republicans left.”
      https://jonathanturley.org/2023/08/11/to-right-to-write-leading-law-reviews-accused-of-blackballing-conservative-student/#more-208353

When the majority of faculty at law schools are “far left academics” and the trend is accelerating in that direction, you’re gonna have a hard time forming “a judiciary in which Americans have confidence,” unless, of course, they are “far left” Americans.

  14. Hey all of you Trump supporters and independents in Arizona did you know that you are a Nazi? Hobbs said that not all Republicans are Nazis but just the Trump supporters. It then must follow that if you are an independent from Arizona who supported Trump you too are indeed a Nazi. Then there are those in Arizona who voted for a women who said such a stupid thing. It’s possible that you were not informed of her statement then but now you are. The Nazis took hundreds of Jews into the woods in Poland, men women and children, and shot them in the back of the head. The shooters overcoats were covered with brain and skull bone particles. This is who she says you are. Her flippant use of the term Nazi to describe her opponents is in itself despicable. She knows it but she uses it anyway because in her world morality has nothing to do with politics or life.

  15. Trump does attract the neo-Nazi crowd. And the fascists, and the authoritarians, and the white Christian nationalists.

    1. Wrong.
Woke leftists are the fascists, the authoritarians, the totalitarians, the anti-Constitution, anti-America and the Marxists.
We see it every day in their actions and their words.

      1. And yet oddly enough it is Trump supporters who are cool with his illegal actions to try to overthrow an election, they are the ones who stormed the capital with the intent of installing an unelected president, they are the ones calling for laws based on Christian theocracy, they are the ones who are for voter suppression laws.

        1. Sammy, your team bombs federal courthouses and police cars, steals in mobs, loots in mobs, attacks people on subways, supports an open border and countenances Joe Biden’s corruption.

          1. HullBobby,
Notice how they conveniently leave out those facts. The fiery but mostly peaceful Summer of Love. Let us not forget how they also made donations to get those rioters out on bail and how many had their cases dismissed by soft on crime DAs.

          2. Sammy, your team bombs federal courthouses and police cars, steals in mobs, loots in mobs, attacks people on subways,

All true, except for Sammy. Sammy would not be caught dead beyond the reach of a WiFi signal, hands free of a keyboard, to deal with people in real life, face to face. Take away his joystick, gamer console and the ability to create limitless fake identities, and, like the bad witch of the Wizard of Oz, would scream and melt. Quick! Someone grab a bucket of water!

            🎵 What a world, what a world! 🎵

        2. Wrong again.
Trump did not try to overthrow an election. He disputed it. Just like Democrats have in the past and were called patriotic in their efforts.
The Capital was a protest that devolved into a riot. One that could of been prevented had Nancy Pelosi taken action on intel and accepted NG support and deployment prior to Jan6th.
I noticed how you left out the how many undercover FBI agents were there on that day?
No one is for voter suppression laws. For that matter Republicans are for voting integrity laws or voter ID. Those kind of laws strengthen our voting process.

          1. You can’t possibly still believe that BS. And if you are so certain, then prove it.

            1. It is not BS. Those are facts. It is you who continues to produces BS. If you are so certain, then prove it.

        3. I guess you don’t know anything about laws. What you should do is spend some time actually reading the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, etc to try to understand our laws.
Not 1 Trump supporter wants any type of voter suppression so I don’t think you’re well versed to speak on that matter. We want transparency and accountability which neither is suppression. Everyone unknowingly becomes very racist when they try to twist that into suppression since their excuses for things like voter ID is that black people cant get them, etc. Stop letting people lie to you. Think for yourself and do more research before spewing falsehoods.

    2. This “theory” has been being pushed since 2015 when Trump came down the escalator. The tactic has been used so often since WWII in politics (especially in the West) that it’s now lackluster. While there are extremists in every “group” they label people saying that someone “attracts” these super minority groups is kind of silly. In no way would anything align that Trump does anything purposely to draw in Nazis, fascists, authoritarians. Your accusatory remark really warrants self reflection. Do you even know what these groups believe? What they stand for? What’s the DIFFERENCE between them. And BTW adding in “white Christian nationalists” as if THATS what makes them any of those prior things is flat out IGNORANT.

    3. LOL! Sammy! More name calling and cheap shots.

BTW Sammy, did you ever get a chance to read the Espionage Act or is that too much effort and bother before you demand it be used on someone?

  16. From your cited source:

“Usually with the Republicans, most of the time rather than saying, ‘Why are you taking things down?’ it was, ‘You need to put things back up.’ It was, ‘Put me back, put me back.’ ”

Maybe we have different understandings of the English language, but to MY mind, that says that “usually” republicans were arguing AGAINST things being removed. That’s the OPPOSITE of censorship.

      1. Thanks. Something else I think we might possibly agree on:

I don’t think that “Anonymous” guy (one of several using the same name at this site) bothered to read past the first paragraph of the link he provided — the bit about “Famous model Chrissy Teigen.” Instead, I would bet that he extrapolated his entire argument from that one paragraph after seeing a blurb he could use, then decided to ignore the rest.

That methodology fits with the laziness of not bothering to come up with a unique screen name, because of course it takes a LOT of effort to rub two brain cells together to come up with a screen name — similar to the tremendous effort required to read more than the first paragraph of an article. Probably named his dog “Dog.”

        1. We agree. These trolls come with an agenda. The full story never interests them.

  17. Anonymous (or whatever you are), I read your garbage link. Only the Teigen tweet was mentioned; otherwise, it was unnamed sources claim this and unnamed sources claim that. Not buying it.

Trump wanted to sue people for criticizing him. You could have stopped there and had a good argument, but Professor Turley called Trump out repeatedly for that. I guess that didn’t comport with your gaslighting of Professor Turley.

Finally, the real problem here was a supposed platform with Section 230 protections engaging in content moderation, almost exclusively for Democrats. Whatever GOP requests occurred, how much you want to bet they were ignored, so the content moderation was really editorializing–not protected under Section 230.

The most important parts of the story were left out by Rolling Stone so idiots could enjoy their confirmation bias between tokes.

  18. Republican presidential candidate Will Hurd:

“Donald Trump is a liar. Donald Trump is a loser. And Donald Trump is a national security threat to the United States of America.

    1. “Republican presidential candidate Will Hurd”

LOL — Try “CIA presidential candidate.”

        1. He’s also a mammal and a biped. You have to prioritize adjectives, and this clown is FAR more CIA than “republican” — in quotes because he’s a “republican” the same way that Mitt Romney or Liz Cheney are “republicans.” In short, he’s a RINO fraud.

          1. That you disagree with a Republican doesn’t make him a RINO, much less a fraud.

            1. Right. It’s the fact that Hurd is a RINO and a FRAUD that makes him a RINO and a FRAUD.

                1. The cult does not like the term republican any more, they have no idea what it means, they prefer Trump, and Trump is no republican.

                  1. FishWings,
Actually, you are not entirely wrong.
To a degree, the Republican party does not represent their base. Some parts of the Republican party represents their interest in maintaining power as any political party does.
When the base feels they are no longer represented by the party, the base moves to support someone who does. I think we call that democracy.
So what is the problem? We have a significant percentage of the public who feels part of the Republican party no longer represents them and now support someone who is not part of the party. They are the ones who are going to affect change in the party.

        2. Not all Rs are conservative and we are willing to call out our RINOS whenever they rear their heads. When was the last time Ds did that? They make excuses when other Ds get caught rather than call them what they are or admit what they’re doing is wrong. Unlike Ds we don’t just take a party perspective on anything- we research, investigate, call it out and also condemn. We also don’t keep electing them for the letter next to their names.

          1. “we research, investigate, call it out and also condemn.” That’s has got to be the funniest thing any MAGA cultist has ever said. Because if any of those words were true, they wouldn’t be Trumpists.

      1. Till now, never heard of him.

Otherwise, move along, nothing to see here.

      1. Will: I have to agree with you. I thought he was fairly neutral and objective a few years ago when his name first got some traction. -Now he’s learned that cardinal trait of holding out his finger to see which way the wind is blowing…

  19. It’s starting to get very old. If a Democratic is criticized the source must be either a Putin stooge or a Nazi. Here we have another Democrat demanding that her critics be censored. History plainly shows that it is the Communist, the Nazis and now the Democratic Party that have been and now are in favor of censorship. If you don’t see the pattern you just aren’t looking. Hey Dennis McIntyre, hows your seeing eye dog.

    1. I read a Pew poll awhile back that said 60% of Democrats now favor censorship, that was frightening to read. The cnacel culture the left wing has encouraged to thrive is a form of censorship. If “we” don’t like what you are saying – we cancel you. This is stuff the Nazi’s did, same with the communists in Red China, as this blogger is saying. I believe in free speech, so do most Americans, so the Democrats are showing they are sliding into the abys, in my view

      1. Anny submits: “ Pew poll awhile back that said 60% of Democrats now favor censorship”.
Maybe 60% of them should be?

        1. AMERICA IS NOT A BEGGARS BANQUET
