Another pro-life display was attacked on a campus this week with little response from the university. Students who set up a table on pro-life issues ahead of a speech by Vice President Kamala Harris were surrounded and had to be escorted to safety by campus police. What was missing was any indication that the university would punish those students who shut down the display. Posted videos show students trashing the display and leading to the intervention of campus police. One video from Students for Life shows a group of students chanting “F— ‘dem kids,” “Black Lives Matter” and “Go home.” The counterdemonstrations are themselves protected acts of free speech. However, surrounding the table and vandalizing displays is an effort stop others from speaking or hearing opposing views.Forcing the intervention of the police should result in some action from the university. The school code states “Free speech is central to A&T’s academic mission. The University encourages and supports open, vigorous, and civil debate across the full spectrum of society’s issues.” Yet, these students shutdown a pro-life display and forced the police intervention without any indication that the university will impose any sanctions.
This same situation has played out on various campuses. This year, a videotape showed Hunter College professor Shellyne Rodríguez trashing a pro-life student display in New York. Most were focused on her profanity and vandalism, but there were familiar phrases that appeared in her diatribe to the clearly shocked students.
Before trashing the table, she told the students, “You’re not educating s–t […] This is f–king propaganda. What are you going to do, like, anti-trans next? This is bulls–t. This is violent. You’re triggering my students.”
The videotape revealed one other thing. At Hunter College, and at other colleges, it seems that trashing a pro-life student display and abusing pro-life students is not considered a firing offense. Hunter College refused to fire Rodríguez.
The PSC Graduate Center, the labor organization of graduate and professional schools at the City University of New York, supported that decision and said Rodríguez was “justified” in trashing the display, which the organization described as “dangerously false propaganda” and “disinformation.”
Rodríguez later put a machete to the neck of a reporter, threatened to chop him up and then chased a news crew down a street with the machete in hand. Somewhere between the machete to the neck and chasing the reporters down the street, Hunter College finally decided that Rodríguez had to go.
Rodríguez denounced the school for having “capitulated” to “racists, white nationalists, and misogynists.” She explained that her firing was just a continuation of “attacks on women, trans people, black people, Latinx people, migrants, and beyond.”
Other professors have also engaged in trashing or shutting down pro-life displays.
To have this anti-free speech action taken in advance of a visit by Vice President Kamala Harris is particularly concerning. There has been no statement issued by the Vice President on the need to ensure free expression on both sides of the abortion issue. I imagine that, if a pro-choice display was shut down, the Vice President would have reacted immediately to the denial of free speech.
As a state school, the First Amendment directly applies to the actions and politics of the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. While it was not the university that shut down the display, there is the question of its failure to support the exercise of free speech on campus.

There is no longer any value into what liberal values have been twisted into in the 21st century. no, your kids don’t know more than you, they were not born with special wisdom, babies just eat, cry, and poop, pretty much, before we teach them; start parenting for real, stop whining, and teach your kids how to live in the world, because I guarantee you: kids overseas are not this insane, and it’s because they had parents that limited device time, that instilled values, and cared a whit about their kids actually being educated and able to critically think and manage responsibility so they could become functional adults.
American universities are a waste of your time, they are a waste of your $$$, a modern Ivy league education is about as useful as a grocery receipt (yep, I bought carrots. I am now so superior to the people that did not buy carrots, because they are too poor and stupid), and if you are not willing to have these conversations, well, then, that is on you as a parent. Grow the eff up so your kids can be grown ups, too. Tired of not talking about the elephant in the room – modern parenting, spanning 30+ years – and thinking it is all the fault of conspiracy. Your little angels wouldn’t be susceptible to conspiracy in the first place if you hadn’t coddled them like a Faberge egg and withered their minds and dexterity with screens, spoon feeding, and staying inside.
Incidentally, successful plumbers/electricians/engineers/contractors make six figures, too. Everyone needs a plumber. Virtually no one needs an expert in grievance studies day to day, Ibra’s/1619’s/ad nauseam’s grift is only useful within the university structure, and you DO know your kids do not live at university, because they came right back to your basement after college to make Tik-Tok videos. You modern liberals are the most ignorant people on the face of the earth in modern times, at least in America; no, you are not ‘pals’ with Beyoncé, even though you follow her on the ‘gram; and that you will vote for it AGAIN, with great fanfare and disdain for everyone else who dares to have a different opinion, in 2024, is beyond the pale and the absolute antithesis of what freedom is about (yes, let’s ‘update’ the constitution for the 21st century so that no one can ever, legally, disagree with us again). You are sheep, and you will be sheared over, and over again and say, ‘Thank you!’. Your naked flesh after the shearing is more tender than you ever imagined, and it is gonna get whipped if you don’t wake up, and it had damn well better be soon.

Many of these young college “adults” already have these attitudes inculcated in them before they attend their first class. They are the product of our primary and secondary school system and they are sufficient proof that children being taught what parents have no say in produces intolerance.
My late husband was a teacher and during his college education to get his certificate he was “pressured” to adopt the “correct” attitude if he wanted to get his teaching certificate. It DOES start at the universities because that is where the public school teachers are indoctrinated – they just go out into the world and spread the poison that has been pushed in to their heads by socialist, woke and American-hating faculty. We won’t win this until the education/media industry has been retooled/disinfected and we start producing civilized and decent people selected by a genuine meritocracy rather than the disgusting cesspool of affirmative action hires since the 70’s. We have a great deal of work to clean out these Augean stables.
You know that is not going to happen. So the downward spiral is unlikely to halt or reverse.
We should also keep in mind that if we don’t take action we are ALL going down with this ship.
