At Hillcrest High School in Queens this week, a New York teacher had to lock herself in her office as hundreds of high school students rioted after learning that she posted a pro-Israeli statement on Facebook. Dozens of police had to be called to quell the riot, which caused property damage throughout the school.
The chaos began shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Monday after students discovered an image on the teacher’s account from a pro-Israel rally showing her holding a poster reading “I stand with Israel.”
Hundreds of students reportedly ran into the hallways waving Palestinian flags and destroying property for roughly two hours, including pulling a fountain out of the wall. They posted images on social media with the controversial slogan “From the river to the sea Palestine will be free.”
Students reportedly attempted to breach the teacher’s classroom as school staff fought to block them. They now want the teacher fired for her personal political views.
As the teacher was rushed to her office for her protection, roughly 25 NYPD officers rushed to the school. Yet, some students said that they have located the teacher’s home address and family information for further protests.
It is a chilling example of the threats faced at schools today. The call for the teacher to be terminated is unfortunately nothing new. For years, many of us have written about this intolerance and intimidation in schools.
Yet, the violence and hatred shown in this protest shows why so many feel unsafe in our schools. We have come to the point where teachers are locking themselves in their offices for protection. These students did not just spontaneously learn this behavior. They have been told for years that they do not have to tolerate opposing views. We are now seeing that intolerance graduate into violence.
I thought Queens was the last decent boroughs of NY? Kinda funny how these students act out when a teacher supports victims of terror but say nothing when a teacher tells boys are girls and girls are boys. Their going to make great Ivy Leaguers.
The response from the remaining adults in the room is what I have observed on a small scale already, and that the notion that you are getting more for your money by hiring an Ivy League graduate is fading and that you are, in fact, just getting a whining, self-centered incompetent for a high price. Until the notion that Ivy League equals trouble and an economic loss (take for example the marketing VP at Bud Lite) is well established in the common mind, we will face more and more of this.
Look under the covers. This site and the comments posted give a peek into what we have created for our children for the past 50 plus years. This didn’t just happen. We just opened our eyes to see how horribly we have failed our children. https://www.greatschools.org/new-york/queens/1971-Hillcrest-High-School/reviews/
The parallels to 1930s Germany or Mao’s culture revolution just went from concerning to frightening.
It seems to me improbable that high school students would spontaneously riot over a Facebook post. Who was organizing this?
Daniel,
Good observation .
I doubt many (if any) of them could find Israel on a map, let alone discuss its history or the political aspects of the situation.
Daniel, E.M.
I am reading other reports, some student found the teachers post on Facebook, then organized a group chat and then planned the riot.
The next day, NYPD was called back to the school when one student was making threats over a group chat. The student was arrested and charged with aggravated harassment.
@Upstate
Good to know, but who inspired this student group? At that age, these ideas do not simply pop into heads. What a mess.
James,
I am going to guess TikToc videos. They learn everything they need to know in 30 second clips.
@Daniel
Same here. That they did this replete with props and with such alarming conformity sort of confirms it. There is nothing whatsoever spontaneous or grassroots about any of this, from Occupy Wall Street to BLM to this idiocy. It is not counter culture; it is orchestrated, funded, chaos.
Younger people, particularly modern ones, are too foolish to comprehend what they are actually participating in or why it is insanity to do so, or what the ultimate repercussions will be, and today this differs greatly from the youthful naiveté of the past.
Daniel, I believe if you trace it back far enough, you will get to the Muslim Brotherhood which is the organization from which these groups arise.
At https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/02/09/world/middleeast/document-elbarasse-search-3.html I think you will find the declaration in Arabic and English. At the end should be a list of some of the spin off organizations in 1991. I didn’t read this version but think it is the one.
if you ATTACK, block, threaten people in a “demonstration” that is CRIME. JAIL THEM ALL…every last one of them!
Threatening people is a CRIME
peaceful protest is going to a park holding up signs make speeches….THREATENING PEOPLE is TERRORISM…a CRIME of THREATENING people.
§ 2C:12-3 (2002). Threatening to commit a violent crime or threatening to kill someone and reasonably causing the victim to fear for their life is a third-degree indictable offense, punishable by up to five years in prison
James Lindsey explains it perfectly. He explains that totalitarianism arises from people who cannot cope with reality as it is, and yet who are content to manipulate others, constructing a “pseudo-reality” in service to a vision of the world that serves their needs. That pseudo-reality holds as its North Star a Utopian vision that aligns with artificial resolutions to their inability to cope with reality as it is, and it thereby attracts others who have similar issues. By constructing a false logic (a paralogic) and a false morality (a paramorality) to define and enforce the pseudo-reality, they can gather supporters in a cult-like fashion. In the end, those ensnared lose the ability to distinguish reality and pseudo-reality almost entirely and become functionally psychopathic, and if they gain enough social, cultural, economic, and political power, they can hold hostage entire societies that are, in effect, on the march to totalitarianism and, eventually, total catastrophic collapse.
Could you please give a reference to where you found this insight of John Lindsey’s, please?
Time to END federal aid and loans to cities, states and colleges
Let the Darwin principal determine the survival of these democrat hell holes. If you attack some that is a CRIME… Threating people with harm is a CRIME. Everyone of these students should be JAILED
A big part of the problem is the demonstrated unwillingness of those in government to prosecute acts of public violence committed by youthful offenders. In 2020, a generation of young blacks was taught that physical violence, arson, theft and mass destruction of public and private property of innocent third parties was justified if done under the pretext of a righteous social grievance. The anonymity of involvement in a crowd and masking provided cover. Few individuals were publicly prosecuted. The violence, theft and destruction of the property of innocent third parties was actually applauded by some politicians a form of “social justice” and “reparations.”
Younger People have a broader and sharper awareness along with a better sense of what’s right and wrong (Justice) than Old People.
Old People become; seasoned, inflexible, and narrow the picture into the crosshairs.
The Old People have become Weaponized.

The only thing weaponized here is ignorance and arrogance.
You’re 10 out of 10.
#10 says:
And You sir, the epitome of hypocrisy.
My Dear Old Soldiers of Fortune,
The idea of Zionism has some how gotten polluted. It’s not about ‘Going Forth and Prosper” by taking over Land & People and developing an economy upon it (Capitalize upon it).
Zionism is about letting the Old Die (Ideals) so the New can Grow. Zionism it is about ‘Expansionism through Discovery and the Cycle of Knowledge’, not the Mechanics of Dominion (Domination & Expropriation).
Geeze I mean to tell Ya; Your a bunch of jaded Old Farts – DIE- already, will ya!
(P.S.: I hear Canada has some permanent Vacation Packages for Ya)
You foolishly post under the “Anonymous” moniker but you are anything but.
@Anonymous
No, young people don’t know their a**es from a hole in the ground, they do not pay their own bills, and in the 21st century have likely never personally suffered anything worse than bad wifi. You are a tool that is unable to make the distinction between calcification and wisdom which leads me to believe you are either describing yourself or hopelessly ignorant/naive much later in life than you should be. I hope you don’t have kids.
James,
Well said.
Most teens think they have the world figured out, until they have to pay rent, pay utilities, their cell phone bill, understand money flow.
That is when reality hits them like a bus. Or it should.
Well now, I know terrorists attacking, shooting, raping, killing innocent civilians is wrong.
Showing support for those terrorists is wrong.
The term from river to sea is a expression of violence against the people of Israel, is wrong.
A student at the high school mentioned in the good professor’s article said, “I doubt half of them know how to spell Palestine.”
Another said, “They just wanted to make drama about it.” “Just, like, chaos. They thought of it as fun.”
And councilman Robert Holden, said, “I don’t know why these students are so misinformed, so intolerant and so radicalized. They don’t even know the history of the Middle East. They haven’t been taught that.”
Everybody is a victim these days. A Stanilist hynch man once said, “show me the man and i will show you the crime”. Now, its “show me the group and i will show you the victim of opression”
These “students” need to be identified, expelled and fully prosecuted.

Nothing says “we’re civilized” like barbarian behavior.
So were these students taught anything in school that led them to choose Hamas over Israel? Social studies in high school now seem permeated by “social justice” ideology. There is the CRT/Intersectionality theme of oppressors and oppressed, and the international neo-Marxist “settler colonialist” narrative. Jews and Israel are on the wrong sides of these stories. Things will not improve until some respect for truth and honest debate is restored to the curriculum.
Bring back corporal punishment! David Seders is right: the problem is that our “children” have no natural predators!!!
LOL the fascist Democrat teachers are WORSE than the Students!
Actually they do.
Their predator is laying in wait. It is reality.
The inevitable reckoning will be harsh but both unavoidable and completely necessary.
The cat is away so the mice feel emboldened to play. An omnipotent, benevolent dictator should stuff these mice back into the Pandora’s box that they came out of.
Why not expose their wrong-headed ways so that they can reverse their position?
My tender-hearted cousin in his mansion in Newport was so angry he couldn’t talk when I showed him an email from our cousin in Jerusalem saying he felt grateful for the soldiers who were risking their lives to keep them safe. “I hate that!” said the cousin in his mansion. “I hate killing! Don’t you!” These adults too have been indoctrinated to see only hatred and killing, not to feel compassion even for their 70-year old family whose son and two sons in law with babies have been called up again….The pile of NY TImes in the breakfast nook is all one needs to know about how their brains have been deformed…Earth to Newport cousin: Your uncle fought his way across Europe, 1944-1945, for your future; your father too served that fight; your uncle for whom you are named fought for the Union two years after moving here from Germany….your way of life was won by people fighting for causes, not even for such needs as staying alive in their own homes. Virtue signaling will do nothing for you when Allahhu akhbar comes calling with long knives.
Certainly will be interesting to see how this lot are dealt with. They are, of course, a product of the current NYC Board of Education’s propaganda machine, .
They don’t fear the consequences because there are none.
Very similar to the consequences of Black Lives Matter – nothing, nada, zip. Go ahead burn, destroy, terrify, it was okay with the city leaders. Give your heads a shake!
They are acting like the Red Guard did in Maoist China.
This demonstrates that your fellow citizens can be more tyrannical than the government.
