Washington this week is proving once again that, as President Harry Truman warned, if “you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.” President Joe Biden appears isolated and alone this weekend. He cannot even count on his dogs who are equally unpopular after the White House was accused of covering up their own dangerous demeanor.
Fox host Shannon Bream reported this morning that her staff tried for an entire week to get a single Democrat to go on the show to defend President Joe Biden as the party’s nominee. Not a single Democrat was willing to do so.
In the meantime, the New York Times is reporting that a senior White House official is calling for Biden to step down as the nominee due to his declining physical and mental condition. The media, which has long attacked those questioning Biden’s fitness, is now on board with the Democratic establishment in pushing the President to withdraw.
The one constant in this ever-changing city is that self-interest alone drives policies and alliances. If you endanger the meal ticket of members of Congress, you are immediately persona non grata. Biden is now threatening Democratic control of both the White House and the Congress. The word is out that Biden has to go so the media is suddenly noticing what it long refused to see.
That goes for staffers too. For years, the staff has engaged in a dishonest effort to shield Biden from questions and to carefully script and choreograph his appearances. Figures like Karine Jean-Pierre and close political allies knowingly misled the public as to the President’s deteriorating condition. Even after telling the public to watch the President in interviews, it was revealed this weekend that the White House was feeding pre-written questions to favorable hosts.
Indeed, the media is actually blaming conservatives for failing to reveal the President’s condition due to their effort to frame the news.
The truth is now unavoidable. The President has continued to struggle with clarity, as when he recently declared “by the way, I’m proud to be, as I said, the first vice president, first black woman… to serve with a black president.”
In the case of this high-level White House staffer, he or she also said nothing for months, even as the White House attacked Fox News and other outlets for showing the President’s confusion at public events. They were denounced as “cheap fakes.”
This staffer reportedly worked with Biden during his presidency, vice presidency and 2020 campaign.
As with the media, however, the staffer now seems to have the green light to kick the President to the curb to strengthen Democratic chances in the upcoming election.
The staffer revealed that Biden has repeatedly become confused and weakened in the course of the day.
Somehow this is being portrayed as courageous despite the fact that the staffer remained silent as others were attacked for raising these issues and the White House actively hid the President’s declining condition.
As is often the case, everyone in Washington is jumping ship as the rats run for the poop deck. No one will be held responsible for months and months of misleading the public about the condition of the man who holds the nuclear launch codes.
Just weeks ago, the media was heralding the brilliance and sharpness of the President.
On MSNBC, Joe Scarborough stated
“start your tape right now because I’m about to tell you the truth. And F— you if you can’t handle the truth. This version of Biden intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever. Not a close second. And I have known him for years…If it weren’t the truth I wouldn’t say it.”
Now, the best that Biden can muster is MSNBC’s Joy Reid who declared
“If it’s Biden in a coma, I’m going to vote for Biden in a coma. I don’t even really, in particular, like the guy. A lot of his policies? Don’t like them, [but] he’s not Donald Trump, right?”
Now there’s a roaring endorsement. The comatose POTUS pitch. Rep. Dan Goldman (D., N.Y.) threw in his own damning defense by saying that the public should just look at the people around the President, a type of figurehead rationale for keeping a possibly infirm president.
As usual, it is the public that has been played as chumps by the establishment and the media. The public is expected to forget the years of shielding Biden and the many public testimonials of his wickedly sharp acumen. In a blink, he has gone from “the best Biden ever” to a type of “comatose but comfortable” defense.
It is the political version of going from blue chip to junk bond status in a week.
You know, what is the sad part of this whole situation — how really, really dumb the Biden voters are! Four years ago it was apparent Biden had some sort of cognitive impairment but power and hate of Trump overrode the thinking part of their brains. Now we see the calamity of this Biden presidency and wonder how love of country didn’t override the obvious. And, Mrs. Biden – Dr. Jill — is greatly to blame. She is desperate based upon her interviews to keep her husband in power — but is it his or hers? Trump says it like it is — ‘elder abuse’ and it is the news media, the staff and the party who are all to blame. How and why would anyone trust them to give us advice or run our government?!

I spent some time on Twitter, and the Democrat Base seems to be intent on keeping Biden in the race. I think that is hilarious and pathetic at the same time. The Establishment have to find a way to get Biden to drop out of the race, or this could tear the Party up.
One difference between now and 1974 is that the Republican Elders had the inevitable impeachment as a lever to force Nixon to resign while today’s Democrats can’t really force Biden out except by threatening the invocation of the 25th A.
One thing to potentially watch for is that if Biden hangs tough, stays the course and stubbornly refuses to step away from the nomination at some point the media will decide that it is Biden or Trump and the dementia stories will cease and the donors will buckle and decide they don’t want to sit out the big event. They hated Biden as late as 2019, but once it was him against the Republican the media and the fools that call themselves “historians” turned him into Churchill and FDR rolled into one. They will pivot again id he is still standing in August.
Another thing to watch for is that if Biden does drop out Kamala will be the new Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks and Margaret Thatcher rolled into one. When Harris first announced she was running they tried to turn her into a star, but (as the old joke goes) sometimes the dogs don’t like the food. They will try again, she will have top speech writers, the best make-up, the finest designer outfits and a fawning media behind her…but she is not palatable to the people. The dogs have spoken.

Biden contols 95% of all elected delegates to the convention. It appears that under some state election laws, the delegates must vote for their declared candidate, e.g., Biden. It appears that the party by-laws state that the delegates should vote for their declared candidate, unless they cannot do so in good conscience. If the party big-shots put pressure on the delegates to desert Biden, would they not be “interfering” in the election? If they support motions to substitute new delegates for existing delegates, as happened to Robert Taft in 1952 and to the Mississippi delegation in 1968, would not the new delegates be “fake” electors? Will state election officials have pressure placed on them by Democrats to allow late filing of candidate names? Who controls the money raised for Biden? In short, are we about to witness a real “insurrection”?

August 8, 1974 – Nixon resigned.
Only two things have changed: the public has seen Biden without a teleprompter or note cards for 90 minutes; and, in part as a result, the Democrats and media have now concluded that he is highly likely to lose to Trump, and possibly to endanger Democrats down ballot.
The prospect of Democrat party defeat is what has caused the media to turn on a dime. There is little Biden can do to change perceptions at this point. The only questions now are how much pressure on him will build, and whether he can withstand it.
Additional House members may come out against him, and Senators may start to as well. More donors may boycott his campaign and those of Democrats more generally. Obama and Clinton may stay silent or even speak out. And the intelligence and law enforcement community may threaten him behind the scenes with exposure of his decades of grifting.
By a certain time, if he hasn’t folded, the pressure will subside, and Democrats will salvage what they can and look to 2026 and 2028 to recover. I suspect if he is still running by next Sunday the die will have been cast.

The only part I would disagree with your comment is it is Jill and Hunter who may or may not be able to withstand the pressure.
Reading about elections laws, financial campaign laws, Jill and Hunter may have the DNC over a barrel. And they know it. They may be trying to force the DNC to accept Biden as their candidate, and force them to run with him, thinking by doing so, the DNC will have to go all in to beat Trump. And keep them in power.
