Winston Churchill once famously said that “nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without result.”
For Donald Trump, the failed assassination attempt in Pennsylvania could prove politically exhilarating. After rising with a fist pump and a call to fight on, Trump seems to have gone from being a movement to a mythological figure with his supporters. All he needs now is a big blue ox named Babe to return to the campaign trail.
This assassination attempt should also concentrate the minds of everyone on the escalating rhetoric in this campaign, particularly the media in maintaining inflammatory narratives. Yet, the hateful and unhinged language has continued unabated from academics declaring that the assassination attempt was staged to those who complain that the only problem was that Thomas Matthew Crooks missed.
For years, Democrats have repeated analogies of Trump to Hitler and his followers to brownshirted neo-Nazis. Indeed, defeating Trump has been compared to stopping Hitler in 1933.
The narrative began as soon as Trump was elected when the press and pundits uniformly and falsely claimed that Trump had praised neo-Nazis and Klansmen in 2017 as “fine people” in Charlottesville.
Watching Trump’s statement at the time, it was clear to most of us that Trump condemned the neo-Nazis and that the statement about “fine people on both sides” was in reference to the debate over the removal of historic statues.
It took six years for Snopes to finally have the courage to do a fact check and declare the common attack to be false.
It did not matter. The press and politicians have hammered away at the notion that Trump is seeking to end democracy and that everyone from gay people to reporters will be “disappeared.”
After the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on presidential immunity, Rachel Maddow went on the air with a hysterical claim that “death squads” had just been green lighted by conservatives. Democratic strategist Jame Carville insists that Trump’s reelection will bring “the end of the Constitution.”
It is all what I call “rage rhetoric” in my new book, “The Indispensable Right: Free Speech in an Age of Rage.” The book explores centuries of rage politics and political violence. This is not our first age of rage but it could well be the most dangerous.
Two years before the assassination attempt, I appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee to testify on the expansion of domestic terrorism investigations. Democrats were seeking to pressure the FBI to focus on far-right groups as potential terrorist groups. The use of political views rather than conduct has been used historically to crackdown on groups from socialists to anarchists to feminists.
The narrative that the threat of violence is coming primarily from the Right is demonstrably false but consistently echoed in the media.
We have seen a growing level of leftist violence in the last decade. That includes riots in cities like Portland and Seattle where billions of dollars of damage occurred, hundreds of officers injured, and many citizens killed. In 2020 alone, 25 people were killed in the protests.
The Democrats often raise the Jan. 6th riot and it is important to acknowledge that the damage extended to an attack on our constitutional process. However, the preceding protest around the White House caused more injuries and more property damage. Then President Trump had to be removed to a safe location as Secret Service feared a breach of the White House.
There were a reported 150 officers injured (including at least 49 Park Police officers around the White House) in the Lafayette Park riot. Protesters caused extensive property damage including the torching of a historic structure and the attempted arson of St. John’s Church.
Mass shootings by leftist gunmen have repeatedly occurred but those are treated as one offs while any conservative shooter is part of a pattern of right-wing violence.
Keith Ellison, the Democratic attorney general of Minnesota, mocked the notion of liberal violence. In one tweet, he declared “I have never seen @BernieSanders supporters being unusually mean or rude. Can someone send me an example of a ‘Bernie Bro’ being bad. Also, are we holding all candidates responsible for the behavior of some of their supporters? Waiting to hear.”
Republican Representative Steve Scalise of Louisiana replied dryly: “I can think of an example.” Scalise was severely wounded at the 2017 shooting at a congressional baseball game practice by a Sanders supporter.
Ellison was a particularly ironic Democratic politician to repeat this mantra. When he was the Democratic National Committee deputy chair, Ellison praised Antifa, a violent anti-free speech group that regularly attacks conservatives, pro-lifers, and others.
Ellison said Antifa would “strike fear in the heart” of Trump. This was after Antifa had been involved in numerous acts of violence and its website was banned in Germany.
Ellison’s son, Minneapolis City Council member Jeremiah Ellison, declared his allegiance to Antifa in the heat of the protests this summer. When confronted about Antifa’s violence, then House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler denied that the group existed. Likewise, Joe Biden has dismissed objections to Antifa as just “an idea.”
In the meantime, Biden has called Trump and his supporters “enemies of the people.” He recently said that the threat to democracy was so great that debates are no solution: “we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.”
Even after the attempted assassination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the media has failed to see a pattern while stoking the claim of a right-wing violent movement.
In the meantime, Democrats previously filed to strip Secret Service protection from Trump. The former Chair of the J6 Committee and the ranking Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee introduced the legislation, called Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable (DISGRACED).
The press and pundits continue to tell Americans that Trump and his supporters are going to kill democracy and probably those they love. While most people dismiss the rage rhetoric, there are some who take it as a license to take the most extreme action.
We are still learning about Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, who was killed after trying to assassinate Trump. A registered Republican, Crooks gave money to ActBlue to support Democratic candidates.
Yet, we know him all too well. He is likely to be found to be a lonely, unhinged individual who found meaning in an attempted political murder.
Thomas Crooks like Nicholas Roske (who tried to kill Justice Kavanaugh) are the faces that watch from the political shadows. They hear leaders telling them to stop the Nazis before democracy dies . . . and they believe them.
As for Democrats, the anger evident every night on cable networks may reflect a degree of insecurity about becoming the very thing that they are campaigning against. It is time for the party to look around to take stock of its anti-democratic policies.
Democratic secretaries of state have sought to block not just Trump but third-party candidates from ballots to prevent voters from supporting them.
They have called for cleansing ballots of over 120 other Republicans. They have supported censorship, blacklisting, and other attacks on free speech.
As a lifelong Democrat, I have repeatedly asked what we have become in this age of rage. If we embrace groups like Antifa, oppose free speech, and cleanse ballots, we will have little beyond our rage to sustain us.
Jonathan Turley is the Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law at George Washington University. He is the author of “The Indispensable Right: Free Speech in an Age of Rage.”
Democrats haven’t been this sad since Republicans took away their slaves.
Stop the BS. The pleas to “stop the rhetoric” is exactly what they want. Wise up. Do not allow the government to provide the security for Donald Trump. That is a conflict of interest. Are we blind to what we just saw? Donald Trump is the very last impediment to the destruction and takeover of our constitutional republic. The government will not let him stand in their way. Wise up. The Trump campaign must use their own campaign funds to physically keep him safe and protect him from the government’s next attempts. They will continue until they are successful. It is their only hope to retain power. If he can make it to the election and if he wins, he will have a chance to fix this. Do not rely on the government for his security.
100%
Anonymous: : you have it exactly backwards. Voting Democratic is the only way to stop a malignant narcissist and convicted criminal with no moral compass and the morally bankrupt Republican party from taking away our freedoms. I heard a commentary last night that struck a chord–Republicans’ agenda is massively unpopular with the majority of Americans, and Republicans can’t win elections fairly, so they lie about the security of elections to sow doubt about the validity and security of voting. They gerrymander to try to obtain power they can’t get legitimately. They are upset that Americans found out about Project 2025, that mentions Trump’s name dozens of times, that would take away many hard-fought-for rights that we don’t want to give up, like reproductive freedom, IVF, Obamacare, the Department of Education, consumer and environmental protections, but mostly, the check on Presidential abuse of power. Trump wants the power to to fire career professionals in admininstrative agencies to be replaced with toadies who will do whatever they are told. Government employees are paid by the taxpayers, and are not supposed to be guided by politicians. Trump has offered to sell the oil industry the right to draft an Executive Ordr taking away protections against pollution and liability for damage done by irresponsible drilling, refining and transporting petroleum products. He only wants $1 billion. He wants to decrease taxes on the wealthy, and although he tries to deny it now, he has said that cuts to Social Security and Medicare will be necessary, a position suported by other Republcans in Congress. Conversely, Biden intends to keep Social Security solvent by requiring the wealthy to pay their fair share of taxes. According to economists, Trump’s tariffs will drive up inflation. His stupid “America first” economic policy will backfire–badly. He’s so stupid about economics that he doesn’t realize that if we slap tariffs on goods purchased from other countries–they’ll retaliate with their own tariffs, which will hurt, for example, corn and soybean farmers who depend on exporting their crops. Their customers will look elsewhere. Then, there’s all of the jobs being done by migrants that Trump wants to arrest and put into concentration camps until they are deported. Who is going to do housekeeping at hotels, kitchen and clean up work at restaurants, landscaping, roofing and construction and other jobs they are doing now? Unemployment under Biden is at a 50 year low.
Trump did a terrible job while in the White House. When he left, schools, restaurants, businesses were mostly shut down, there was widespread unemployment, there were charity food banks and food drives to feed the unemployed and hospitals had to hire refrigerated trucks to hold corpses because morgues were backed up. The national debt had reached a record level. Yes, gas prices were low–that was because demand was low, due to unemployment, people working from home and no leisure travel. Las Vegas just about went under. America set new daily records for COVID deaths and infections. Biden fixed all of that, but school kids have not caught up.
It isn’t just America that would suffer. Trump’s praise of Putin and pledge to chuck NATO and pull support for Ukraine could well lead to WW III, because Putin would not stop at Ukraine–he has said he intends to re-acquire the former USSR countries. NATO is the strongest bulwark we have against another world war, but all Trump cares about is power, at any cost and Putin wants the US to pull out of NATO and deny aid to Ukraine. His economic policies would destabilize the world’s economy, and his pro-Putin agenda would destabilize world peace. Trump has to go–AWAY.
oh gawd.
Asking what the Democrats have become, is pretty relevant in this clip. Elon Musk just announced that he is moving his companies out of California because of the new law where a school is prevented from telling parents their child is transy. And, providing puberty blockers without parental consent:
The shooter was a MAGA, from a MAGA family. It is highly unlikely he gave one shit about what any Democrat says. Trump and the Republicans have far more violent rhetoric then the Democrats. He shot Trump because of the stuff he heard from Republicans. Look at the comments on this blog, the crazy violent stuff is from the MAGAs.
Are there MAGAS in the room with you now?? Maybe behind your desk in your basement?? Get help.
“Crooks’ father is a registered Libertarian and his mother is a registered Democrat, according to voter records, CNN and the Times reported.”
https://time.com › 6998557 › thomas-matthew-crooks-trump-rally-shooter-fbi-motive
They had MAGA yard signs. People rarely change their party registration because it rarely matters.
“I brought up the fact that I’m Hispanic and, you know, I’m for Trump. And he [Crooks] said,
‘Well, you’re Hispanic, so shouldn’t you hate Trump?’
“No. He’s great. He was a great president. He called me stupid – or insinuated that I was stupid.”
He could be “smug [and] arrogant,”
— Vincent Taormina, former classmate of would be assassin, Act Blue donor.
“smug and arrogant.”
Sounds like a progressive leftist to me.
Poor, poor Sammy. His narrative is failing, by facts. In epic fashion too. 🙂
Sammy
You need to change your lifestyle, read a book or two and look at other news sources besides MSNBC, CNN, NY Times, Wash Post. By all means read your favorites but get a little perspective. It won’t hurt, much!
Care to cite the “crazy violent stuff is from the MAGAs,” comments?
Reading from all the non-anony comments, no reads them just scroll past, all the other comments are reasonable from reasonable people.
Then there is Dennis, but he is clearly delusional.
Tell us, Sammy. How is it you know he heard violent rhetoric from Republicans? What violent rhetoric was spoken? Can you not only provide the quotes but who said it?
Sammy, CNN is reporting the parents of the would be assassin, Act Blue donor, the father was a registered Libertarian, the mother a registered Democrat.
Would you explain to us how that makes the a MAGA family?
Sammy the desperate Soviet Democrat lyin’ like a proud Biden:
The shooter was a MAGA, from a MAGA family.
Birthing Person Sammy the liar hopes nobody notices the would be Trump murderer paid money to Bribery Biden’s ActBlue bundlers controlled by George Soros. Sammy hopes normal Americans don’t notice it’s fellow Soviet Democrats in that and other states registering as Republicans so they can vote in primaries for the GOP candidate most easy to beat in an election.
Remember Birthing Person Sammy says the violent crazy stuff from Bolshevik Barack and President Daddy-Daughter Inappropriate Sex Showers, Pedo Joe Biden assured Sammy that Trump was Putin’s stooge and he would push old ladies into traffic and imitate their party’s favorite terrorists, Hamas, throwing homosexuals like Pete Budigieg off roofs.
Birthing Person Sammy is the Mini-Me of the most intelligent person Bribery Biden says he knows: the First Felon Crackhead Son.
It’s all just free speech, Jonathan Turley.
Free speech.
Free, for sure, and irresponsible.
Reasonable Soviet Democrat David B. Benson posted: It’s all just free speech, Jonathan Turley. Free speech.
As one of America’s most brilliant intellectuals, Dr. Thomas Sowell said: “You should always be suspicious of anybody who wants to tell you only PART of a story, instead of ALL the story”.
So it’s just all free speech. Unless you’re the New York Post, attempting to expose the Biden Bribery Laptop on FascistBook. Or anyone wanting to post the contents of the Biden Bribery Laptop on their personal FascistBook page after the New York Post had their newspaper taken down and got their account thrown in FascistBook Jail for 30 days for posting “election disinformation”.
Or one of the prominent virologists/epidemiologists in the nation’s leading universities trying to post that the virus had genetic markings pointing it came from a bioweapons lab instead of a pangolin having unprotected sex with a bat on a Tinder date.
It’s “all free speech” when the Soviet Democrats’ bureaucrats telling FascistBook and others who to censor allow it to be free speech.
Some of our resident Soviet Democrats seem to assume nobody follows the news and congressional investigations. Along with having memories that only extend back a few months.
Jonathan: We may never know the motives of Crooks in his “rage” attempt to assassinate DJT. He was a registered Republican. His classmates say he was a loner who took conservative positions in class debates. But you bizarrely think Crook’s attempt could be “politically exhilarating” for DJT who he could be turned into a “mythological figure” for MAGA supporters. Turning the assassination attempt to DJT’s political advantage seems unseemly at a time when we should be trying to tone down all the “rage” politics in the middle of this election season.
When critics refer to DLT’s rhetoric as that of Hitler there is ample evidence. Ivana Trump said her husband kept Hitler’s speeches on his bedside stand. When DJT used the phrase “poisoning the blood” in referring to immigrants he took that straight out of Mein Kampf.
The Neo-Nazi march and riot at Charlottesville in 2017 is another example. You attempt to whitewash DJT’s statements. To put that statement in context here is what DJT said at his press conference a few days after the riot. DJT condemned the violence but he also said: “You also had people that were fine people, on both sides”. At the same news conference DJT was asked about David Duke, longtime KKK leader and neo-Nazi, who supported the neo-Nazis at Charlottesville: “We are going to take the country back–to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump”. Duke called Charlottesville a “turning point”. And what was DJT’s response? He said “everybody said, ‘his statement was beautiful. If he would have made it sooner, that would been good'”. By saying the neo-Nazi rioters were “fine people” and endorsing Duke’s statement as “beautiful” clearly indicates DJT’s real sympathies were with the Neo-Nazi rioters!
DJT’s violent rhetoric and the J. 6 insurrection show he is solely responsible for all the “rage rhetoric” these days you complain about. It’s not coming from the Dems. The Dems never told the Proud Boys to “stand back but stand by”. They didn’t engage in an attempt to overturn an election through violence. They immediately condemned the Crook’s assassination attempt. DJT now says he will not accept the results of this year’s presidential election if he loses. It will be J. 6 redux. You won’t see the Dems using that kind of violent rhetoric should they lose. “As a lifelong Democrat” it is bizarre you would be attacking the Dems. Which naturally leads to the Q as to whether, in your defense of DJT, you turned against the Democratic Party years ago?
the speed with which the handful of anti-Turley commenters upvote each other’s comments is amazing. Like understudies in the wings on a national social propaganda stage.
While other trolls prop each other up with
a ‘Well Said’ or a ‘Spot On’ instead of a ‘like’
Or like literal automatons. This question occurred to me last night. It has been repeated here numerous times that J. Turley never reads the comment section of this blog. How certain is it that he even knows that this comment section exists? Is it possible that someone in his circle is smurfing this entire thing for his or her own benefit?

Thank you, Dennis McIntyre, for your point of view. Here’s another: Jonathan Turley neither attacks nor has he forsaken his party. Rather, as a “lifelong democrat”, Jonathan Turley demonstrates time and again that he has not turned against the old and once venerable Democratic Party he joined years ago, but rather that he is one who stands firm with those who are its conscience.
Ron A. Hoffman wrote:
Thank you, Dennis McIntyre, for your point of view. Here’s another: Jonathan Turley… is one who stands firm with those who are its conscience.
Trying to explain morals, standards, or conscience to the Soviet Democrat grifter Dennis ‘Baghdad Bob’ McIntyre is like trying to explain to The First Felon Crackhead Son that it’s not moral to be screwing your dead brother’s widow before his brother’s body is cold while turning her into a fellow crack addict at the same time.
Dennis McIntyre has the conscience of the ChiCom pangolin and bat who had unprotected sex on a Tinder date that resulted in the Wuhan Flu virus.
Ron A. Hoffman said: “he is one who stands firm with those who are its conscience.”
And exactly who and where are they? Because, with the possible exception of Turley himself, those whom you allude to as the conscience of the “old and once venerable Democratic Party” seem conspicuous by their consummate absence.
Jonathan: Dennis McIntyre is here yet again to perform as Joe Biden’s Baghdad Bob:
DJT’s violent rhetoric and the J. 6 insurrection show he is solely responsible for all the “rage rhetoric”
Dennis ‘Baghdad Bob’ McIntyre hopes normal Americans forget Bribery Biden and VP Skanky Hoe Harris encouraged and supported their 2020 Election Season Insurrection Of Mostly Peaceful Rioting, Looting, Pillaging, Arson And Murder.
Dennis McIntyre will not admit that Bolshevik Barack’s years of racism and race baiting violent rhetoric, long before Trump, led to his fellow Soviet Democrat street thugs rioting, looting, and burning in Ferguson and across America after Michael Brown was shot and killed while trying to murder a cop. Bolshevik Barack violent rhetoric and insurrection YEARS before Trump ever entered politics.
Dennis McIntyre will not admit that the Soviet Democrats’ street thugs in Antifa and Black Liars & Marxists who began their rioting and insurrection the very day Trump was being inaugurated did so on the directions of Bolshevik Barack and Pedo Joe Biden.
Dennis McIntyre will not admit that his fellow Soviet Democrat Stormtroopers in Antifa and Black Liars & Marxists began their 2020 Election Season Of Mostly Peaceful Rioting, Looting, Pillaging and Murder Insurrection under the encouragement and support of Pedo Joe Biden and then Senator Skanky Hoe Harris:
Dennis McIntyre claims that the desperate June 1st insurrection assault on the White House in an attempt to murder President Trump didn’t actually happen.
Dennis McIntyre is a communist thief appropriating space on Prof. Turley’s blog, who comes here to post Bribery Biden lies, deflections, and channeling.
Who will hire and pay grifter Dennis McIntyre after Bribery Biden gets tossed out of the White House on his ass and faces the felony charges his hand picked Special Counsel said he was guilty as hell of committing, but he had decided that a jury could not be allowed to make that decision as long as it was his watch.
After redundantly focusing on Vance’s/Haley’s previous verbal criticisms of Trump (during MSM’s programming coverage of the RNC conference), ABC’s Martha Raddatz literally told millions of viewers last night that the RNC was tactically engaged in fear-based campaigning.
…There was no one there to counter her statement….No opposing view. No pointing out of hypocrisy.
But let’s Stay calm. Let inquiry and considered thinking rule our moves, not provoked emotion.
Lin, that piece with Raddatz was awful, just a disgusting display of partisanship. Remember that she is the same “reporter” that cried the night Hilary lost to Trump. She is supposedly an investigative reporter but she is just a washed up hack.
Lin posted: ABC’s Martha Raddatz literally told millions of viewers last night that the RNC was tactically engaged in fear-based campaigning.
Almost certainly a rhetorical question lin, but: Has either ABC or Martha Raddatz EVER apologized for the FOUR years they liedto their Gullible Marxist Useful Idiots that they had inside sources that confirmed the “Russia Dossier” was all verified intelligence agency product.
Well, how about another rhetorical question: Has either ABC or Martha Raddatz EVER apologized to their Gullible Marxist Useful Idiots for the weeks prior to the “51 Retired Intelligence Experts…”, where they lied, claiming that the Biden Bribery Laptop was confirmed to be nothing but Russian election disinformation?
Old Airborne Dog: Rhetorical answer: hmm, not that I know of!
lin: how many “opposing views” are there on MAGA media when they make up lies about Joe Biden and Democrats–like the “quid pro quo” and “Biden Crime Family” lies that have no factual support, despite years of Republicans trying to get proof, as just one example?
You claim to be capable of “considered thinking”? Have you thought about Trump, his abuse of women, his criminal convictions, the lies about COVID, the falsification of business records, the falsification of loan documents, the theft of classified documents, or the Big Lie, the fact that he allowed the insurrection to go on for over 3 hours, for the Capitol to be trashed, Police officers to be assaulted and an angry mob of deluded followers who were hunting for Pence and Pelsoi, intent on killing them? Have you thought about any of that and whether such a person belongs in the White House? How about his promise to use the FBI and DOJ to get revenge on those he believes are his enemies, his tariffs that economists say will drive up inflation, and how about Project 2025 with rolling back reproductive rights, consumer and environmental protections, tax breaks for the wealthiest, concentration camps and mass deportations, doing away with the Department of Education, firing career civil servants and replacing them with MAGA toadies, and nearly-unbridled power–have you thought about what someone like Trump, a sociopathic narcissist with no moral compass, could do with such power? Well, the majority of America IS thinking about these things.
Natasha your shrill lies and obvious desperation warms my heart!
Alternate Democratic presidential candidates perform better than Biden, new polling data shows
https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/elections/alternative-democratic-presidential-candidates-perform-better-biden-new
The DNC is going to try for a “virtual nomination” to lock in Biden as the candidate.
Alternative Democrats beat Biden in swing states.
CNN nows see Trump winning in a landslide.
Biden is going to lose!
Fun! Fun! 🙂
You are definitely one who responds with over-emotion, in your case unprovoked. Every day, same in, same out, yada yada.
Add 2 more logs to the fire–The MAGA SCOTUS gave him immunity, and there’s no next term to consider.
Poor Gigi. Her world is burning. Not sure why she comes here to cry about it.
It really sux to be Gigi right now.
There’s nothing redundant about prior comments by Vance, Haley, Mitt Romney, or any other Republican who previously told the truth about Trump, like McConnell’s comments right after the insurrection. Vance is an inexperienced brown-noser hungry for power. Haley chucked her values to fall in line–and for what? Trump is not fit to be President–not fit intellectually, emotionally, morally or any other way.
And Joe Biden is fit to be President–intellectually, emotionally, morally and any other way?
He’s not, he never was. That fact was known back in the 80s. Biden is not presidential material.
And now? His own party is trying to get rid of him since he won’t leave power for the good of his party or the good of the country. He’s in it for the benefit of Biden, Inc. — only. That’s always been obvious. Which is why 81 million voters never voted for this imposter.
There’s nothing redundant about prior comments by Vance, Haley, Mitt Romney, or any other Republican who previously told the truth about Trump
There’s nothing untruthful about then Senator President Harris saying Pedo Joe Biden is both a RAPIST and one of the Kluxxer RACISTS that tried to keep little brown girls like her off school buses. But wait! Normal Americans are not supposed to remember that!
Trump is not fit to be President–not fit intellectually, emotionally, morally or any other way.
That’s true if you’re one of the intellectually, emotionally, morally outcast sub-species of humanity that want normal Americans to believe President Daddy-Daughter Inappropriate Sex Showers fits their criteria so much so they want another four years of it.
(Airborne: sorry to be “redundant.” didn’t see your response to Blue before posting mine.
Blue Anonymous: Haley and Romney were political opponents running against Trump, as were critics Chris Christie and John Kasich-two of the biggest losers of all. Of course, dear Blue, Kamala Harris did the same thing criticizing Biden, n’est ce pas?
Gigi logs in anonymous again.
Really pathetic

You recite a myriad of bad things that the Democrats do and then proclaim that you are a “lifelong Democrat”. Why are you?
JD Vance was that last VP the Democrats wanted to see Trump pick, and now they’re super mad because with Vance as VP they don’t dare try another assassination attempt.
Vance is a disgrace to humanity. He is everything that is hateful about MAGA. He is a very easy candidate to attack. It would have been worse for Ds if Trump pick a well liked moderate.
Vance is going to be a two term president.
Top Five Reasons J.D. Vance Is the Perfect VP Pick

Trump nominated Pence in 2016 to sucker the Evangelicals, considering his lack of respect for women, all of the lawsuits for cheating people and other evidence of moral turpitude. He nominated Vance in 2024 to sucker working-class people. His main qualification, in addition to being a brown-noser, is that he said he WOULD have refused certified votes in 2020. How f’ing pathetic. I have faith that the American people, espeically working class people, will see through this.
Trump nominated Pence in 2016 to sucker the Evangelicals, considering his lack of respect for women,
Soviet Democrats like this cowardly Anonymous are about to nominate President Daddy-Daughter Inappropriate Sex In The Showers, the man a brown colored Birthing Person Vice President said was not only a RACIST, but also a RAPIST. How’s THAT for ‘lack of respect for women’????
Yet you’re telling us it’s Trump who has no respect for women – not Pedo Joe, who has those Inappropriate showers with his teenage daughter, rapes his teenage interns, and gives his First Felon Crackhead Kid tens of thousands of rubles to pay for underage Russian prostitutes. Did it start way back when his current babysitter, ‘Dr.’ Jill, was the family babysitter balling Senator Biden in the marital bed before the body of Pedo Joe’s first wife was cold and buried in the ground?
How f’ing pathetic. I have faith that the American people, espeically working class people, will see through this.
Indeed that pathetic. We’ll see what the working class people have said after the election… particularly after the president of the Steelworkers Union went on stage at the GOP convention to endorse Trump for president rather than Pedo Joe, The White House Kiddy Fondler In Chief.
Blue gig anon logs on to say mure incredibly dumb shit.
Poor Gigi. 12 years of maga in store for her.
It’s good to see that this time around the Professor doesn’t engage in false equivalency like he did last time.
Think he’ll still vote Dem though?
The head of the Secret Service did her version of Lyin’ Biden with her excuse about why that perfect sniper’s position was left unsecured: she told the world that the roof was too steep and presented a danger to the Secret Service’s trigger pullers – who most of us assume are harder than woodpecker lips to be on those protection details.
She insults us with that lie after we’ve watched days of views of the countersniper team that blew the would-be murderers head off while perched on the peak of a far steeper roof.
She’s no better a liar than Bribery Biden or Jonathan Turley’s close friend that posts here, Dennis McIntyre.
the praetorian guard failed
“the roof was too steep and presented a danger to the Secret Service’s trigger pullers ”
Airborne, my roof is very steep, and some neighbors have steeper roofs, yet our codes require us to keep it clean. How do we do that? Men climb on the roof with hoses and liquids that make it more dangerous, yet the roof gets clean.
Part of the Secret Service training should include cleaning a roof.
S. Meyer posted: Airborne, my roof is very steep, and some neighbors have steeper roofs, yet our codes require us to keep it clean.
As Jake Tapper and other Marxist Mainstream Media propagandists for Bolshevik Barack and Bribery Biden like to use as an excuse: “This story is evolving”.
As of this afternoon, the Secret Service (by implication) has said their Big Boss, The Pepsico DEI Kid, lied with the roof excuse. I know, I know – I can hear the gasps of shock across the country that she actually lied like her last name was Biden.
The last version I heard on the story is that the Secret Service handed off that roof to a local countersniper team who were to post and provide overwatch from there. But that local agency betrayed the blameless Secret Service by not showing up to take that post, leaving it available to the would be ActBlue donor/assassin.
Feel better now that everything is revealed – local police departments fault by betraying their commitment the Secret Service to staff that roof with their countersnipers?
Just two questions I might now ask after being involved in Close Protection details for visiting politicians, dignitaries, moral boosting sports celebrities, etc on overseas deployments, where some state politician or football celebrity visitor doesn’t get close to the same amount of money spent on protection and bullet catchers as a former president about to become the next president of the United States
Why did the Secret Service NCOI in charge of the event not confirm by direct communication that position had the police countersniper team in place (along with all other dangerous spots covered) before allowing Trump to leave cover and go on stage?
Why didn’t they have overhead drone surveillance of the area with one or more drones before letting Trump go on stage? If the knuckle dragging soldiers can figure out how to use programmed drones to provide aerial overwatch over in some crappy country in an austere environment, the Secret Service can’t figure out how to do it in America?
[Sidebar: Don Trump Jr. did a spot interview with a local Montana talk host on KJJR radio. He said his father’s team – the Secret Service team – has been begging for more agents for weeks now due to the threat level. They only had ONE countersniper team available for this event – he presumed that is why it was a local countersniper team assigned to that vulnerable roof, and possibly why some major communications SNAFUs between two agencies resulted in nobody being on that roof.
He also said that wasn’t his Dad’s normal detail that day. What he had heard from Secret Service agents he has known since coming under SS protection in 2016 is that agents were siphoned off to provide additional protection for Biden’s Babysitter Dr. Jill. And the regular detail were so wrung out and exhausted from keeping up with Trump’s schedule that many had the day off to rest and sleep while replacement agents did that event before his regular detail rejoined Trump to go to the days long GOP Convention. More room for planning and communications failures.
One last thing: he said he personally knows the shorter female agent fumbling to reholster her pistol while they were getting Trump in the car. Don Jr. said she was on his personal detail while his dad was president. He said he’s often shot for fun with those Secret Service agents, and that she is a complete badass who can outshoot any of the male agents in those pictures with either a pistol or their other close personal defense weapons. Don Jr. said he never once doubted for a minute that she would rush to eat the bullets that were fired at him and that he has no doubt she would have done exactly the same for his dad or anybody else she was ordered to be a bullet catcher for.]
I don’t think we’re even CLOSE to hearing the end of Bribery Biden’s Secret Service excuses… much less having the full story.
“Why didn’t they have overhead drone surveillance of the area with one or more drones before letting Trump go on stage?”
There are a lot of whys throughout the Democrat reign. Why did the riots loved by Democrats do so much damage and kill so many people? Why on J6, when troops were authorized by Trump and not accepted by Pelosi, who was in charge of the Capitol’s security, get so out of hand. 2 people were killed, but both were protestors. Why are there wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and a war brewing over Taiwan?
Stalinists always create death and destruction. I wouldn’t permit Democrats to stand guard over a package of marshmallows.

I think she went to the same School of Artless Lying Your Head Off as The Big Guy, Cringe Jean-Pierre, and our very own Dennis McIntyre and Gigi.
‘As for Democrats, the anger evident every night on cable networks may reflect a degree of insecurity about becoming the very thing that they are campaigning against. It is time for the party to look around to take stock of its anti-democratic policies.’
Uh . . . becoming? The dems have *been* precisely this for years, they are already there. Insecurity? 😂😂 This is all being done with great intention. Any ‘insecurity’ comes from the possibility of too many dots being connected. If not for legal reasons, for mindshare reasons. I believe it’s why they are so keen to ram unilateral power down our throats as rapidly as possible – so the people never have a say again, not in any meaningful way. They are a regime, not a party.
I respect the right of everyone to choose and believe as they wish, but come on: the walls in dem echo chambers are twelve feet thick. Even STILL there is this soupçon of belief on the part of some that all of that violence and corruption is somehow ‘fringe’? Crazy, and a wee bit selfish, IMO, but it’s just my opinion. Why does every modern dem, no matter who or what their largesse, carry the whiff of aristocracy, no matter how faint (I know the answer to my own satisfaction) it may be?
James,
Well said.
I have mentioned before, they have this elitist attitude of moral, intellectual, superiority that is not only not earned, but completely false. They tell us how smart they are and then say dumb things like a boy can be a girl, or they cannot define what a woman is.
Hmmm.
Who else said ‘They they they’?
The Nazis.
@Upstate
Precisely!
Dear Mr. Turley, what was left for the left leaning people to try to do to Mr. Trump? Everything else has been attempted and has for the most part been a failure. Too bad for them. The lies coming from the Left regarding Mr. Trump have almost all collapsed in a spectacular fashion. I do not feel sorry for them. I do feel bad for Mr. Biden. He has been simply used by the Democrats, and now that they are through with him, his party is ready to send him into retirement before he is able to finish his race.
Biden is a hominid POS. However others use him, abuse, him, or discard him generates no sympathy within me.
Jonathan: When Dennis McIntyre shows up for work today to support and make excuses for Biden and Harris as their version of Saddam Hussein’s Baghdad Bob, before he starts parroting the Soviet Democrat line about “MAGA extremist rhetoric”, he must explain why he’s remained silent on White House support of rage mob violence before the election.
As the Soviet Democrats street thugs in Antifa and Black Liars & Marxists assaulted the White House on June 1st 2020, leaving over 50 Secret Service agents hospitalized with wounds received in the fighting and Trump and his family evacuated from the White House, Vice President Harris told Americans and the world:
Everyone beware. They’re not gonna stop before election day in November, and they’re not gonna stop after election day … They’re not gonna let up, and they should not.”
For his part, Biden called them a courageous group of patriotic Americans
That violence continues up to this day, and they STILL say nothing to condemn it – Biden is already back to his demagoging lies about “threat to democracy”.
Dennis McIntyre has never provided his justification for supporting these evil, violent thugs and how they encourage and support the political violence of their street thugs.
“As a lifelong Democrat, I have repeatedly asked what we have become in this age of rage.”
With all due respect, Professor Turley, you have already answered that question. Many times, over the span of numerous articles that you have written. So you know the answer – the Democrats have become a party of mindless nincompoops, with no principles beyond that of staying in power – shamelessly lying, shamelessly smearing anyone not a compliant Democrat – violent, and constantly tearing down every norm, and aspect of the country’s basic principles.
So, I repeat – you know the answer. When are you going to act on that knowledge, and leave the Democrat Party?
The Secret Service Director presents herself to the public looking like a ‘before’ photograph on a facial plastic surgeon’s webpage.. Don’t know what kind of affect she seeks to achieve and to what audience it is to be presented. One might think that the POTUS ought to be concerned that the head of one of his most critical agencies has no care for her appearance. Argue what matter her look as long as she’s gets the job done if you must. Recent events suggest strongly that she does not meet that test, even though her ‘look’ might, to that segment of his base whose support he goes to extremes in policies to cultivate. Those who preach division, exclusion, and indoctrination. Well crafted for these times. The good professor, who never fails to present himself as an individual befitting his calling, may continue to satisfy himself that the Democrat’s party, as presently constituted, continues to reflect his views, Thereafter, maybe there’s considerable weight to the opinions expressed be his detractors herein, and he might wish to seriously consider his options.
Biden doesn’t care about her appearance because he thinks she’s a man. He referred to her as “him” in a recent interview.
Powerful piece, Mr. Turley. Thanks for all the brilliance and objectivity you bring to the national discourse.
Jonathan: When Dennis McIntyre shows up for work today to perform as Biden’s version of Saddam Hussein’s Baghdad Bob, ready to spew more of the Soviet Democrats’ lies about JD Vance, he must explain why he has been silent for FOUR YEARS about what VP Harris said about Biden before becoming his VP.
Then Senator Harris looked Biden and Americans in the eye on stage and said “I believe her and I believe you are a RAPIST”. And then said, “You are the RACIST that tried to keep the little black girl that was me back then off the school bus”.
Dennis McIntyre has been perfectly fine with being an apologist and liar for a RAPIST and RACIST ever since.
@Old Airborne Dog Re:”Then Senator Harris looked Biden and Americans in the eye on stage….”Harris, HRC, and a host of others of that ilk, in the face of the opportunity to rise to a position of extreme power, and be enshrined in the history books for all time know the virtues of silence. When and where to be, or not to be. Dennis has also learned well.
If Hitler did not exist, Democrats would need to create him.
Edwardmahl posted: If Hitler did not exist, Democrats would need to create him.
People need to remember that Trump is merely “He’s virtually Hitler!” v.3.
First they said Reagan was virtually Hitler.
Then they said Bush was virtually Hitler.
And now it’s Trump that’s virtually Hitler.
Anyone want to bet that the next presidential election, whoever is the Republican candidate will ALSO be “He’s virtually Hitler! v.4?
It amazes me that Americans who think of themselves as Jewish vote for a party that treats Hitler and his genocide as simply a political weapon. And whether they will vote for the Soviet Democrats again when they have neo-Nazis in the House and their party is the home of the New Hitler Youth Movement.
@Old Airborne Dog: Re: “It amazes me that Americans who think of themselves as Jewish vote for a party that treats Hitler and his genocide as simply a political weapon.” Richard Grenell, former Ambassador to Germany, was asked this question in kind during a radio interview I was privileged to. His response was to the effect that many of the current generation, having ‘made it’ allow the ghosts of the trials of their forebears fade into the shadows. There are those, including one I know who was born into an Orthodox family, refugees from the Shoah, who voted Democrat in ’16 @ ’20, simply because Trump’s ‘baggage’ revolted their moral and ethical sensibilities. The electorate of Jewish heritage, who have not forgotten, continue to give great weight to the Democrat Middle East policies which were initiated by Obama’s quest for realignment in that region, his embarrassing apologia to the Arab states right out of the gate, through his presidency, and Biden’s term to date. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/01/we-caved-obama-foreign-policy-legacy-213495/
I think the majority of Jews who continue to vote for Democrats and the Left do so for other reasons. One, they equate Republicans with the Right, and traditional fascists were Right. They are oft-put by evangelicals whom they wrongly equate with the Christians who discriminated against and killed Jews in Europe. The Reform sect confuses “social justice” with the Democrat Party platform.
Anon, you give a good summary. My only response is that the third group is hopeless. They will never change even if the Dems include a plank in their platform that supports the killing of Jews. The first two reasons are starting to fade, as there is a greater awareness that conservatives and Evangelical Christians are among the most friendly towards Judaism and Israel.
traditional fascists were Right.
Well, the media and Democrats have done a good job of promoting the left/right lie. Fascism, like Hitler’s National Socialism, is just one of communism’s spawn.
They’re all versions of totalitarian communism – neither Marx or Engels ever used the word “Marxism”. They were totalitarian communists who demanded an elite such as themselves rule over the people for their own good. Marx called it “communism”. They never referred in their writings to ‘left’ and ‘right’
When that word became reprehensible, communists started calling it “Marxism”. When that label started to stink, communists started using the word “socialism”. And now that socialism has the same stench as ‘Marxism’ and ‘communism’ before it, now they’re “progressives”.
Mussolini is usually portrayed as “right wing fascism” by communists and their apparatchiks. Clearly, those attempting this hope few will bother reading Mussolini’s beliefs and how his government operated.
Mussolini’s fascism was simply an imitation of Lenin’s “third way,” which combined market-based mechanisms and socialism—similar to Red China’s “market socialism.” In short, Lenin’s revised Marxism culminated in “socialist-lite” policies that were the model that Mussolini used to craft his own Italian nationalist version of Lenin’s communism. Economist Sheldon Richman (author of ‘The Concise Encyclopedia of Economics’) states: “As an economic system, fascism is socialism with a capitalist veneer. Lenin’s revised Marxism seeks to abolish capitalism outright, while fascism gives the appearance of a market-based economy, even though it relies heavily on the central planning of all economic activities.”
If there actually is a ‘Left’ and a ‘Right’. Fascism is with it’s sibling communists and national socialists on the Left.
To say fascism is ‘Right’ is just another communist lie of self defense. Can’t have too many perpetrators of atrocities grouped together – need to spread them out a bit and channel some of them to supposedly being with free markets and conservatives.
Our most pressing problem for Trump and MAGA to solve is just how a keith ellison, the Democratic attorney general of Minnesota, or an alvin bragg of NYC infamy, were ever given access to any form of power in this government. Solve that decade’s long problem and most of the rest what is bedeviling this nation will disappear.
