“What am I Willing to Burn”? Howard Journalism Professor Calls for Whites to Emulate John Brown

Stacey Patton, professor of journalism at Howard University, has caused an uproar with her advice to white people who want to oppose this Administration. Patton told them that they had to follow the path of John Brown, who led a bloodbath before the Civil War that included killing white slave owners and pro-slave settlers.

In a blog titled “John Brown Didn’t Ask Enslaved People How to Be A Good White Ally,” Patton told white liberals to stop asking how to be a better “ally” to minorities. She writes:

“It’s a question that always lands heavy. Not because I doubt their sincerity, but because the question itself is still a form of protection that centers the asker’s confusion instead of the target’s danger. It’s a request to be taught, forgiven, and reassured, again and again. It’s another round of homework assigned to the wounded…It’s exhausting as hell because it’s still a form of emotional outsourcing.”

Instead, she tells whites to become modern John Browns and presumably unleash a new era akin to “Bleeding Kansas” and the infamous Pottawatomie massacre.

Brown was a militant slave abolitionist during the pre-Civil War “Bleeding Kansas” period. In 1856, he orchestrated the Pottawatomie massacre. He and fellow abolitionists dragged five Kansas settlers, at least three of whom were pro-slavery sympathizers, out of their homes and executed them.

Brown was eventually captured after his raid on Harpers Ferry and hanged.

Patton wants whites to emulate Brown, who “saw the horror for what it was and decided that ending this racist f*ckery mattered more than being understood.” What clearly makes Brown stand out for Patton is his violence: “So when white allies ask, ‘What can I do?’ here’s the answer: Be like John Brown. Ask yourself, what am I willing to burn so somebody else can breathe?”

Of course, a hanging might be a bit stiff for many liberals longing to be Antifa. So, Patton acknowledges, “If you don’t want to die like John Brown, fine. But understand that somebody always does.”

Not surprisingly, the professor has little time for those who want to embrace the alternative, non-violent lessons of Martin Luther King:

“Now, white liberals love to quote Martin Luther King Jr. because he is a man that can be polished into civility. But John Brown doesn’t fit the script. He was a m’fukin’ gangsta! He didn’t ask for gradual change, or healing, or bipartisan cooperation. He saw a nation addicted to violence and knew that moral persuasion alone couldn’t sober it.”

Patton’s column comes after the controversy involving the John Brown Gun Club, which was connected to flyers appearing on campuses like Georgetown reading “Hey, Fascists! Catch!” The phrase was written on unused bullet casings found after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. It went on to proclaim, “The only political group that celebrates when Nazis die.”

The recent charges against Benjamin Song, an Antifa member, also raised the group. Song was charged with three counts of attempted murder of federal agents in addition to three counts of discharging a firearm stemming from an ambush-style shooting at an ICE facility in Alvarado, Texas. A dozen others were charged in the plot. He was also reportedly a member of the John Brown Gun Club.

Notably, this is a journalism professor in a school that has long been associated with advocacy journalism and the controversial hire of former New York Times reporter Nikole Hannah-Jones.

We previously discussed the release of the results of interviews with over 75 media leaders by former executive editor for The Washington Post Leonard Downie Jr. and former CBS News President Andrew Heyward. They concluded that objectivity is now considered reactionary and even harmful. Emilio Garcia-Ruiz, editor-in-chief at the San Francisco Chronicle, said it plainly: “Objectivity has got to go.”

Downie recounted how news leaders today.

“believe that pursuing objectivity can lead to false balance or misleading “bothsidesism” in covering stories about race, the treatment of women, LGBTQ+ rights, income inequality, climate change and many other subjects. And, in today’s diversifying newsrooms, they feel it negates many of their own identities, life experiences and cultural contexts, keeping them from pursuing truth in their work.”

Now, objectivity is virtually synonymous with prejudice. Kathleen Carroll, former executive editor at the Associated Press, declared, “It’s objective by whose standard? … That standard seems to be White, educated, and fairly wealthy.”

Stanford journalism professor Ted Glasser insisted that journalism needed to “free itself from this notion of objectivity to develop a sense of social justice.” He declared that “Journalists need to be overt and candid advocates for social justice, and it’s hard to do that under the constraints of objectivity.”

Lauren Wolfe, the fired freelance editor for the New York Times, has not only gone public to defend her pro-Biden tweet but published a piece titled I’m a Biased Journalist and I’m Okay With That.”

Former New York Times writer (and now Howard University Journalism Professor) Nikole Hannah-Jones is a leading voice for advocacy journalism.

Indeed, Hannah-Jones has declared, “all journalism is activism.” Her 1619 Project has been challenged as deeply flawed and she has a long record as a journalist of intolerance, controversial positions on rioting, and fostering conspiracy theories. Hannah-Jones would later help lead the effort at the Times to get rid of an editor and apologize for publishing a column from Sen. Tom Cotton as inaccurate and inflammatory.

Yet, Howard saw Hannah-Jones as perfect for a chair in its journalism school.

Professor Patton seems to have left not just neutrality but sanity behind with her implied support for violent action. It is unclear how such views impact her journalism courses at Howard University. However, she has featured prominently in The New York Times, Washington Post, and The Chronicle of Higher Education as well as ABC News, CNN, and MSNBC.

  1. Mike Johnson had no comment on Thursday after Donald J. Trump demolished the House Speaker’s family home.

Johnson had reportedly been asleep when a backhoe came crashing through the wall of his master bedroom, sending the Speaker and his wife fleeing for safety.

At the White House, press secretary Karoline Leavitt offered scant explanation for Trump’s decision to level Johnson’s dwelling, saying only that he “felt it needed to be done.”

After initially refusing to comment, Johnson told reporters that he was “sure the President had a perfectly good reason for doing it” and invited Trump to total his car.

Is that you Jimmy Kimmel? Or one of your comedy monologue writers?

So funny… but it’s sure quiet here without a laugh track to play along side it.

      1. what president has done the most extensive remodeling of the white house .

That would be a Democrat. How many foreign dignateries will be hosted on the basketball court of Obama?
How many foreign dignateries will be hosted in the ballot. Ane remember this isn’t costing US taxpayers one cent, unlike Obummer’s $482 million exercise room.

        1. That is false. The indoor workout room was already in place before Obama. He did not alter it.
He simply converted an outdoor tennis court for dual use as a basketball or tennis court by painting lines and adding hoops.

            1. Were the East Wing bulldozed to make room for a the Obama to build a sporting center paid for by George Soros you would be covering yourself in nitroglycerine patches to keep your tiny little heart beating while you typed furiously about the Communist-Jewish-Islamic takeover of the United States. And if it happened just when the Republicans shut the government down from the minority position? You’d have a a diesel powered generator to keep your implanted defibrillator running full time.

The wrong thing Obama did? Allowing Trump to attend the White House Correspondent’s Dinner where it turned out that Donnie had such a fragile ego that he cannot take what he dishes out and decided to run for President out of spite, to destroy America as a middle finger to Obama.

Trumps’s a hollow man who blew a mountain of cash his daddy gave to him and was saved by Mark Burnett creating a fictional character for a TV game show.

    2. Obama remodeled the White House to the tune of $482 million dollars so he could play basketball. Waah! Cry baby.

      1. That is false.
The $482 million refers to the money raised from private donors for his presidential library.
As far as the basketball court is concerned he simply painted lines on a tennis court to delineate a basket ball court and added hoops.
The court could still be used for both tennis and basketball.
And he certainly didn’t demolish an entire wing of the WH.

        1. It is amazing how your answer exactly matches left wing nut talking points down to the words.
It would be nice if Google would return the news reports at the time of the renovations – ones that likely were accurate, rather than idiot fact checks from the past two days that just make guesses as to what was done, what it cost and who paid for it.

Regardless, Anonymous – YOU are not a credible source.
Find a news story from the time of the Basketball courts – not speculation by left wing nuts today.

“When a new president enters the White House, they are allotted $100,000 to make renovations to redecorate their residence and the Oval Office. However, when Obama entered the White House in 2009, the Obamas decided not to use taxpayer money or accept donations to do their decorating, per New York Magazine. Because the Obamas covered the cost themselves, the White House declined to disclose the budget for the renovation project.”

    3. White House Construction Crew Finds 1,357 More Cocaine Stashes
“WASHINGTON, D.C. — Construction workers tasked with building a new White House Ballroom reportedly discovered 1,357 stashes of cocaine hidden within the walls and ceilings of the East Wing.

Work on the project was briefly postponed on Tuesday when a tracked excavator demolishing a section of the East Wing suddenly tore through what turned out to be several kilos of heat-sealed polyethylene-wrapped cocaine, scattering it into the wind. Initially, workers cleared the area, fearing asbestos exposure, but after becoming strangely energetic and fearless, they returned to work.

Secret Service agents later determined that the powdery substance was actually cocaine and that the construction crew was “as high as a kite.” A spokesman revealed that a full investigation was now underway to determine the source of the narcotics.

“I’m just glad it wasn’t asbestos,” said Carlos Antoine, one of several construction workers on site. “That stuff is dangerous.”

Though the investigation was technically ongoing, President Donald Trump was not shy about who he believed to be responsible. “Hunter Biden’s legacy lives on,” Trump said. “Junkie Hunter, that’s what he was. What a waste of a life that man is. He can’t even keep track of his coke. He must have forgotten about all of it. What a joke. Jokey Coke Hunter, I call him.”

At publishing time, the $250 million White House ballroom renovation had been fully paid off by selling all of the stashed cocaine.”

      https://babylonbee.com/news/white-house-construction-crew-finds-1357-more-cocaine-stashes

      1. Cocaine isn’t “narcotics” or else it wouldn’t make workers “energetic and fearless”. Prof. Turley makes the same error. A more apt word would be “contraband”.

      1. Blatant lies aren’t funny. Making fun of disabled people isn’t funny. What passes for funny to Republicans is essential cruelty.

  2. Rise up against what? The problem with all of this is, no one actually knows what they’re protesting or rising up against other than social constructs promoted by politicians and professors trying to hold on to power and money. Professors are right there with politicians — manipulating minds is incredibly satisfying. Slavery no longer exists. Yes, there is racism in America. There’s racism in the world. Always has been always will be. The ‘man’ is not holding anyone down. I’ve lived in neighborhoods of color (being one of very few white families) where everyone — EVERYONE had far more wealth than my family (I don’t even know how we were so lucky to live there but I digress). How did they do it? Education. They bought in to the notion that if you go to school and work hard you can achieve greatness. Doctors, lawyers, captains of industry and yes, entertainers also lived there. The common denominator was striving for and working toward greatness regardless of obstacles the world put in front of them. So as a white person fortunate enough to live in neighborhoods from extreme poverty to great wealth with racial diversity in both; I don’t see people of color as victims and will never buy into white guilt or the need to rise up — at least not against the current White House administration. Hate mongers live among us and always have an agenda. I’ve seen what people of any race can achieve. I will not be persuaded or manipulated by hate.

    1. Sin has always been in the world. On the basis of the argument for the preservation of racism, Christians should shut up about sin and just accept it.

  3. She and others of her ilk should drop to their knees and thank God every day that Trump is NOT the white supremacist authoritarian/tyrant that they claim he is. Their daily lives would be markedly different if he was.

    1. Trump is being hemmed in by the Deep State, right? That’s who is opposing his take-over of the government, assuming the conspiracy Trump touts is correct.

As long as no one pushes back in a way that harms him, Trump won’t be sending troops into cities. Oh, wait, he is sending troops into cities.

  4. People like Professor Patton would benefit greatly by spending some quality time, one (1) hour tops, with a bipolar Mafioso. But they/them/dem wouldn’t last more than ten (10) minutes… and that’s pushing it a lot.

    Noone

  5. Words quoted from Prof. Patton: “a form of protection that centers the asker’s confusion instead of the target’s danger.” “It’s a request to be taught, forgiven, and reassured[.]” “It’s another round of homework assigned to the wounded” “It’s exhausting as hell because it’s still a form of emotional outsourcing.”
The main problem is not partisanship. It’s inability to speak clearly, disguising a problem in thinking clearly.

    1. “The main problem is not partisanship. It’s inability to speak clearly, disguising a problem in thinking clearly.”

George/X just a few hours ago made a desperate attempt to rewrite her column and fix that to help you understand what he wanted you to think she said. That was immediately after George/X started his day by claiming she was a brilliant journalist.

The attempted creative scribblings of Stacy Patton, like her initial defender George/X, have no more literary value than a splatter of pigeon shyte defacing the Lincoln Memorial.

      1. Anonymous could never understand Patton’s writings. He’s too illiterate and has serious reading comprehension problems. That’s why he sticks to making insults and nothing else.

Anonymous is jealous of others’ ability to understand things.

        1. “Anonymous could never understand Patton’s writings. He’s too illiterate and has serious reading comprehension problems.”

Pointing out the mental deficiencies and intersectional hatred of George/X’s daily inarticulate scribbling, no matter who takes the time to do so, is always met with his best excuse and rebuttal: Unlike my magnificent level of reading comprehension, the fact you don’t agree with my literary masterpieces proves that your reading skills are sub-par.

SOS from Cheap Fake Confederate Democrat George/X: SAME OLD SHIT.

          Every. Single. Day.

            1. “^^^^See? All he can muster are insults. He’s already getting upset because it’s true.”

^^^^George/X swiftly morph’s himself from cutting edge creative writer, into Monte Python’s quarrelsome Black Knight – proclaiming victory as he stands before us with everything but his empty head chopped off by his opponents. The Russian judge gives him a 9.5… the rest of the audience: 0

And as to your lyin’ and denyin’ I post nothing here but exposures of you as the lying sack of shyte that you are… you claim ignorance of my posts today with no mention of you? Didn’t see those?

Is it your excuse that you’re so focused in your own self-importance that you are truthfully saying (that would be a change!) you didn’t notice any of my posts today regarding your intersectional love object, Stacy Patton, where there was no mention of you whatsoever?

Do you need to offer a child candy to help you with your Google-fu to help you find my other posts today that ignore you, George/X?

              SOS, George/X, SOS.

Same Old Shyte… every day and every post.

              1. ^^^^Still, only insults. That’s all he’s got. Anonymous being illiterate and suffering from reading comprehension is truly a sad sight in this day and age.

            2. Are you saying that your posts are coherent and not self contradictory ?
Are you saying that you are not up to your neck in DEI and intersectionality ?

The fact that you do not like the adjectives being applied to accurate observations about you does not mean it was not a valid argument.

              1. Ever know a teacher who spent extra time with a struggling student? Is that wrong to do?
Ever see a coach give a team member more advice than others? Should they stop doing that?
Ever know a doctor takes more time with some patients than with others?

Those are all equity. Treating people unequally in order to offset an existing inequality.

This will roll off like water off a duck, but it’s an attempt at equity. To give more to to someone who is lacking in empathy.

        2. X

          serious reading comprehension problems.

          1. “HAHAHAHA George you really posted this tripe.”

Dustoff, if George had a dollar for every time he attempted that line as his defense and rebuttal for being named and shamed, he would have enough money to buy a lifetime supply of Midol in order to help him survive his terminal Midol Moment.

            1. “if George had a dollar for every time he attempted that line as his defense and rebuttal for being named and shamed, he would have enough money to buy a lifetime supply of Midol in order to help him survive his terminal Midol Moment.”

I recommend that in that event he should set aside half of the proceeds for tampons or sanitary napkins…

        3. “Anonymous is too illiterate and has serious reading comprehension problems. That’s why he sticks to making insults and nothing else.”

Nothing else? George/X, I can certainly shine an illuminating light on the history and career of your fellow Democrat race-baiting intersectional love interest, Stacy Patton, long before you would spring to her defense.

Your defense began (as always) with your daily trademark attack on Professor Turley for doing a similar exposure and critique. Since you self-identify and perform your political theater here as a self-centered special needs child; a sample of my “nothing else” posted here before your stench preceded your presence and comments today:

This is the same Stacy Patton who earlier made her bones with the Democrat-Mainstream Media Propaganda Complex by celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk, calling him a racist who deserved to be murdered due to all the black Americans who had been harmed as a result of his racism.

Her entire miserable career has been built at bitter hatred towards Whitey – and the primary consumer of her bitter scribblings is also Whitey. She sharpened her fangs working for BBC America, The New York Times and The Washington Post – all of them owned by Whitey.

How does she sleep at night knowing that it was Whitey that put the food in her mouth and that filthy lucre spilling out of her pockets she is paid for her filthy racism?

Despite her hysteria about conservative Whitey, Patton isn’t really living in fear. If she were, she would believe that by calling for the murder of White Americans like Kirk, she would instead by putting a death sentence on her own head when conservative Whitey showed up to lynch her.

If she thinks she’s advancing The Cause, I hope she doesn’t change a single thing in how she is writing right now.

That had multiple approving up-votes long before you showed up, George/X. The the obvious question: when do your pathetic mewlings and lyin’ and denyin’ you post here daily get ANY?

        4. Do you have an argument ?

I think people understand Patton perfectly – and that is the problem.

The arguments here are much more than insults – Pattons words and YOUR words are being used to demonstrate your bad character.

You and Patton both have control of your own words.

        5. I have always found the “you do not understand” arguments quite stupid.

If what you write is un-understandable or easily misconstrued – that is YOUR problem.

Ronald Coase is one of the most brilliant economists of the past century.
His work won a nobel prize. His work is very easy even for a lay person to understand.
He makes his point in very few words, that are easy to read and understand.

Anyone can write indecipherable garbage. I did so myself in college when dealing with a professor who confused complexity with quality. I wrote an incredibly complex bit of creative writing whose theme was how much of an idiot he was. Went right over his head, Got an A on the paper and the class.

In ALL fields the best work can be easily understood by everyone.

The world is complex. The principles that govern it are not.

          1. You cannot get a man to admit understanding when his job depends on not understanding.

One of the best ways to screw with someone is to give them an A, so they leave the class thinking they have accomplished something great, but are truly incapable so when they next try that trick it blows up in their face and they have no idea why. As demonstrated here.

  6. The evolution from Citizenship Democracy to Citizenship Primacy

    Original intent:
The idea of “Citizenship democracy” was to allow the actual People of a Nation to have a say in National priorities, to challenge entrenched policies.

    Shift in focus:
The movement transformed into “Citizenship primacy,” where the main legal and practical obligation of a Nation’s policies is to maximize profits for ‘Privileged Citizens’ (a few Private Interest holders).

Citizenship democracy has failed the people by shifting National focus from long-term growth and stakeholder interests to short-term profit maximization, leading to outcomes like job losses and declining worker benefits, real ($) devaluation. The original idea of Citizens controlling Politicians has become a “Citizenship primacy” model where controlling institutional Capitalist, like the “Big Three” use Politicians, to hold disproportionate Congressional voting control (via K Street, Wall Street, Banking, etc.), and their interests prioritized over those of; Workers, the Public, and other Stakeholders. This model concentrates economic and political influence, further marginalizing the average citizen.

How Citizenship primacy has negatively impacted people

    Profit-driven decisions:
The primary goal became maximizing short-term profits, which often came at the expense of long-term growth, worker well-being, and product quality.

Prioritizing Private Interests over other stakeholders:
Decisions began to disregard the interests of other Stakeholders, including Workers and the Public.

    Citizen disempowerment:
Citizens have less say in National decisions, and the benefits and stability they once had are often eroded. This includes an increase in layoffs and the shift from Social Security benefits and Pensions to 401(k)s.

    Concentrated control:
A small number of large institutional Capitalist (BlackRock, Vanguard, and State Street) have become the largest Owners in a vast array of portfolio companies, concentrating voting control and influence in Congress into the hands of a few.

    Unequal distribution of wealth:
The model has contributed to widening economic inequality, with a disproportionate share of profits and wealth accumulating at the top.

    Undemocratic control:
The concentration of control in the hands of a few institutions means that National control, which has a significant impact on society, is not truly democratic.

This is how U.S. Constitutional Democracy has Failed the People. And why loose cannons the likes of Stacey Patton resort to taking to the streets with pitchforks and torches, squealing: I’m Hungry for the Power of Privilege.

    After-all it’s not unpredictable.

    1. The founding fathers rejected the whole concept of Citizenship Democracy. They knew that such democracy would be the end of the Republic they envisioned and created.
The proof of such demise is in the deterioration of our governance since the primary system was introduced in the name of citizenship democracy. Look at the quality of our elected politicians and compared to those in the past.
Those elected politicians we now have are the ones giving you the Citizenship Primacy you criticize.

      1. Agreed Vincrod, That was my point “Those elected politicians” are bought and sold by the Big Capitalist Firms to do Their bidding (to squeeze the Republic and it’s Citizenry). That squeeze being the source of Stacey Patton’s anger and angst.

How will Elon Musk’s Trillion Dollar pay package be paid for? Add that to the list of Other Billionaires and Corporations – it will be paid for by the Citizenry and Government. This isn’t a Social Contract [K} it is a Private Contract between a Few and the rest of the Nation.

I understand why it is Stacey Patton has become riled up anger but not her conclusion in Her methods of retort.

Perhaps the economic-fabric of the U.S. needs to return to some decent level of economic conformity. The abstract distortion of Today’s economic-fabric is unrealistic and economically unsustainable. Financial Markets, Committees (Metals), Banking, are all at record highs, and then there’s Elon … Do you really think one person is worth 1 Trillion dollars … honestly it takes the Cake.

        1. Tesla’s Elon Musk lobbies support for $1 trillion pay package in Q3 earnings call – as it happened
Proposed package pays Musk billions even if he misses goals
When Tesla’s board of directors offered Musk the biggest executive pay package in corporate history last month, it reassured investors that he would have to achieve the equivalent of “Mars-shot milestones” to earn $878 billion in Tesla stock over 10 years.

Yet Musk could reap tens of billions of dollars without meeting most of those targets. …

          * Footnote: Our very own Darren Smith is also lobbing hard for a Trillion Dollar pay package 😉

    2. Stacey Patton is certainly one of the oligarchs running America today. A long time billionaire, she has lobbied for and gotten the government to sell for cents per acre some of the most beautiful natural settings in America for clear cut logging and open pit mining with the tailings polluting rivers and streams. Clearly one of the 1% that donated $250 Million to a Presidential campaign in exchange for a cushy job, firing all those who regulate the businesses she operates.

  7. Slavery isn’t really the topic. If it was, there would be masses of anti-slavers crusading toward Africa and the Muslim countries where there are now more slaves than there ever were in North America. No, the real topic is Hate America and sooner or later we’re going to have the man-up and handle that problem.

  8. This is the kind of rage rhetoric that is feeding the hate and rage we see on the left. They keep upping the amp. Some day some idiot will actually do something stupid. We have already had the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Then there is all the violence against ICE and LEOs for doing their jobs to enforce laws Congress passed.

  9. George/X posted: Patton is an award winning Journalist. Her writing is far above Professor Turleys poor attempts at journalism.

There’s some amusement in George/X’s intersectional long distance love affair and admiration of Stacy Patton, “journalist”. Stacy Patton is also one of those Darkies, the offspring of black slaves that George/X regularly says his Confederate forefathers should have “compassionately repatriated” to countries they never set foot in to cleanse white America of their scourge.

(Beside the corner of his mind devoted to loving Stacy Patton, George/X reserves another corner in his mind for bitterness and hatred towards Lincoln for not “repatriating” those Darkies after his Confederate forefathers lost the Civil War.)

If George’s dreams of ethnically cleansing America of black Americans after the Civil War had come true, Stacy Patton wouldn’t be here today, a dull Democrat blunt weapon of journalism, while serving as the object of George/X’s long distance love affair.

George/X pimping on behalf of Stacy Patton is like his genocidal anti-Semitic friends he also defends, the ones holding signs saying “Homos For Hamas”.

Both of them pimping for and defending people who despise and hate them with the heat of a thousand burning suns.

Stacy Patton would clearly do a “John Brown” on George/X’s ass by throwing him off a rooftop beside the Hamas terrorists throwing the Homos off rooftops if they ever got their hands on them.

  10. These racist savages, terrorists and criminals want you dead, they hate you because you are white. Act and react accordingly.

  11. I hate to break it to you s@@tlibs but your precious non-black minorities feel absolutely no guilt with regards to blacks. The people you open borders advocates have favored importing will simply not tolerate black shenanigans.

I say this as a Hispanic American; I owe blacks NOTHING.

And this is for guilt ridden white s@@tlibs, you owe me nothing either. I dont need you to “save” me.

    1. My ancestors not so long ago were Irish – one side of my family fought for the union in the civil war.
The other arrived later. We have had nothing to do with US slavery – or slavery anywhere in the world, or colonization, or any of the other nonsense the left fixates on.
We have never been the opressors of others – we were raided and enslaved first by the vikings, later by the english.
We were sent in slave ships to the new world, the more fortunate were merely indentured – with a 70% chance of dying before the indenture was over. While indentured we were treated worse than slaves. We had no legal rights.
And since we were either eventually going to die or be free our Masters cared very little about our well being.
Slaves were treated significantly better than indentured servants in the new world.

Regardless, if there was such a thing as ancestral guilt I HAVE NONE, nor any reason to.

      1. John Say,
Well said. My ancestors did not arrive, legally, to America till after the civil war.
I am not white. May not have a degree, but I do have logic, critical thinking and common sense. Wealthy? By who’s standards? I would say we are comfortable but took a degree of hard work, good decision making, financial planning and common sense.
I would much rather have objective journalism, which is real journalism, than advocacy propaganda.

        1. Most of the nonsense from the left is at odds with reality.

The left fixates on the historical period when the west was rising to challenge Spains global dominance, and just barely into the industrial revolution and the end of global slavery.

Absolutely positively the West and then the anglosphere and then the US were flawed by modern standards.
But they were morally superior to the rest of the world in their era.

Slavery has existed for all of human history. What was unique about it in the US is that we fought a bloody civil war to end it, and that despite the hype of the left – Slavery in the US was TINY compared to the rest of the world.

During the period of african slavery – approximately 24M people were taken from Africa as slaves.
About half of those went to the mideast. But you do not see lots of blacks in the mideast today because they were nearly all casterated before they traveled accross north africa to the mid east.

Another approx 12M went accross the atlantic. Of those 3/4 went to south america.
Of the remaining 3M – more than 3/4 of them went to the West Indies not the US.

African slavery was small in the US compared to the rest of the world.

But before african slavery – the vikings were raiding all of the british isles and all of europe and selling their white capitves into slavery in north africa and the mid east.

Before that – the peoples of north africa invaded spain and the rest of europe and enslave europeans and sent them to the mideast.

Before that slavery was endemic in Rome and earlier Greece and Egypt and every other civilization large or small.

Slavery in South america persisted well into the 20th century.

Yet the left wishes to fixate on western civilization which brought about the end of slavery.

Then the left likes to fixate on western colonization – as if the egyptions, the persians, then the greeks and romans did not colonize the world.

The largest single empire in human history was that Of Gingus Kahn spanning from the pacific to the Atlantic and down to the Mediterranean.

Westerner found Africa mostly uncivilized – in some instances even unoccupied.
Lost int eh story of South Africa is the fact that the Dutch found South Africa sparesly occupied when they arrived. Most blacks in South Africa today came from tribes that came down into south Africa from central Africa as the Boers succeded in south africa.

Left wing nuts like to fixate on precursors to the mythical wakanda – some great black african civilization that was somehow obliterated by greedy Europeans. While there were notable African civilizations, They were not the norm – particularly in sub Saharan africa.
You can celebrate all kinds of things about tribal culture in central africa – but it was barely more advanced than north american indians and less advances than those of south and central america.
Outside of North Africa there are no notable leaders, no notable civilizations ever in human existance.
Part of this is because until the advent of western colonization much of central africa was thoroughly inhospitable. Malaria and other deadly or debilitating diseases made civilization nearly impossible.

Idiots on the left forget that prior to western colonization malaria was rampant throughout the world – even in north america. Most of us are familiar with the malaria problems in building the panama canal. But malaraia was a serious problem building the Erie Canal. Most of Ohio was swampy and disease ridden before settlers drained the swamps. Most of the places that the west colonized were not only “uncivilized” but incapable of supporting civilization.

I would further note that the colonial era is over. Africa is once again ruled by Africans.
They are not doing so well.
Africa is the poorest continent in the world – despite the lions share of the worlds natural resources.

The closest thing we have to a successful democratic government in sub saharan africa is South Africa – and that is an absolute total disaster – but atleast they have elections – can you name another country in Africa that is not still fundimentally tribally governed by whoever is the most powerful tribal cheif.

If the west was exploiting Africa – why is it not booming with the end of colonization ?

Regardless, my point is that the westenr civilization that the left absolutely hates, and blames for all of the evil in the world, was the pinnacle of humanity in that time.
In fact those Evil White Supremecists are how everything the left loves about the world came about

Britian is the first country in the world to actively try to stop global slave trade. The US decades before we ended slavery int he US was joining with the british navy to thwart the slave trade globally.

  12. Just yesterday our very own crying Karen, Gigi, was trying to claim the good professor the “lengths he has to go to in order to fulfill his MAGA media assignments to, somehow, attack Democrats, academia, science, non-MAGA actual journalists, etc.,” https://jonathanturley.org/2025/10/22/the-name-game-democrats-keep-asking-for-names-and-getting-them/comment-page-2/#comment-2567186
Clayton Goldstein then commented, “Turley doesn’t have to go to any great lengths to find topics. The Democrats and opposition hand them to hi[m] on a platter.”

And now, yet another leftist loon just handed the good professor yet another example of stupid and crazy on a platter.
    How marvelous!

  13. Advocacy propaganda (it shouldn’t be called journalism) is all of a piece with political correctness. It’s not about reporting facts, it’s about promoting a radical left political narrative. This all goes back to Neomarxist Herbert Marcuse’s 1965 essay on ‘repressive tolerance’ where he argued that tolerance of differing viewpoints just promoted the ‘oppressor class’ narrative, thereby protecting its power in society. He then advocated the repression of non-Marxist speech, i.e. ‘politically correct’ speech, as part of the revolution bringing about the Marxist ‘utopia’ (i.e. what Karl Popper called ‘hell on earth’). Thus Marcuse gave birth to that most unfortunate, stultifying, evil spawn, ‘cancel culture’, and the closing of the Western mind, with its Mao-style indoctrination camps of the college campus, the keffiyeh/facemask being the new version of the Mao uniform.

  15. No reaction to this from the news media. I wonder if they would have reacted if the call had been for whites to rise up violently against the left.

  16. X says:

“Her argument is not about encouraging violence. It’s about John Brown’s actions and the fact that he knew more than just persuation was required to change things.”

Another honest phrase for “persuasion” is “civilized discourse.” What exactly is the escalation beyond discourse? I suppose there’s civil disobedience but too many of today’s brainwashed and indoctrinated Leftists believe that violence is justified as a response to speech to which they object. There is no difference between directly calling for violence and leading the reader to reach that conclusion through a narrowed perspective.

There are too many Americans speculating about and even wishing for civil war. That would set this nation and all of its people back for decades. The nation might never recover after China moves in to fill any resulting power vacuums.

I don’t think CWII is going to happen right away. There will be more violence and lawlessness, skirmishes between feds and Leftists. The actual CWII would kick off if today’s crop of insane Leftists were able to take the House, the Senate, and the Presidency. Their probable actions would be beyond unacceptable to half the nation.

    1. “ What exactly is the escalation beyond discourse? I suppose there’s civil disobedience but too many of today’s brainwashed and indoctrinated Leftists believe that violence is justified as a response to speech to which they object. ”

Oftentimes the escalation doesn’t come from those opposing a certain issue. It comes from those perpetrating it. Forcing the escalation to the point where there is no other choice. This is what a lot of ICE and DHS agents do when confronting protesters. They get more aggressive and engage in tactics designed to provoke a violent reponse in order to justify more violence and claim protesters are violent.

Police used that tactic often during the George Floyd protests. provoking peaceful protests into getting violent by being more aggressive and violent towards peaceful protesters.

      1. George/X: This is what a lot of ICE and DHS agents do when confronting protesters. Ah! George/X is bringing back his speechwriters at CNN who trademarked “Mostly Peaceful Protests™”! After his initial posts focusing on Stacy Patton, George/X suddenly drops any mention of her as though somebody informed him she’s a very dark skinned hot potato. Now his focus is reverting to his childhood excuse “They made me do it!”.

Today he reverts to that childhood excuse to defend his fellow Democrat fascist friends in Antifa and Black Liars & Marxists. His fellow commie fascists as they repeatedly throw their prepared flaming Molotov Cocktails at ICE and DHS in attempts to murder those agents.

They didn’t plan and prepare to attempting to murder those ICE and DHS agents before heading off to attend Mostly Peaceful Protests™. No… but once those agents deliberately provoked them, those Molotov Cocktails and other deadly weapons just magically appeared in their murderous Democrat fascist hands.

With George/X and his speechwriters at CNN, nothing changes: it’s all SOS… Same Old Shyte.

        1. ^^^^anonymous still can only muster insults. His suffering from reading comprehension issues and illiteracy continues to be a sad sight.

          1. George/X: Who thinks of his daily insults and attempts to demonize his host Professor Turley, as his communist version of terms of endearment.

And of course, in his Delusions Of Mediocrity, believes himself to be a brilliant creative writer as he proclaims the object of his intersexual, bi-racial lust, Stacey Patton, to be.

        2. ^^^^^NPD HERE^^^^^

          Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)

Signs and symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder

These six common symptoms of narcissism can help you identify a narcissist:

Has a grandiose sense of self-importance.
Lives in a fantasy world that supports their delusions of grandeur.
          Needs constant praise and admiration.
          Sense of entitlement.
Exploits others without guilt or shame.
Frequently demeans, intimidates, bullies, or belittles others.

  17. Militancy usually just hardens your opponents against you. It’s a childish impulse misfit to an adult world. MLK had it right, and achieved his goals. John Brown only hardened his enemies against him and his cause. The lessons for today are obvious, except to sensation-seeking media producers who will gladly give airtime and ink to a flaming a-hole rather than to a normal-speaking improver. That will change when the audience finally quells its instinctive preference for drama over substance.

    1. “when the audience finally quells its instinctive preference for drama over substance”

No hold breath! The majority of the audience would prefer “Monday Night Rehabilitation” or “OW My Balls” to actual analysis or debate.

  18. I have a much better way for people to be White Allies! Actually move your stupid a$$ to a black neighborhood, and send your kids to predominantly black schools! Help end all that racist f*ckery right up close and personal! Leave your nice, tidy white bedroom communities and gated-white fortresses, and get down there and mingle with the oppressed bruthas and sistas! Show all the other timid whiteys that you aren’t afraid to go to a service station in a black area at midnight! Get you a tom-tom, and when the jungle drum show starts at 11:00 PM each night, join in! Get it on! Bang your gong!

    1. @floyd

I am afraid being a good s@@tlib doesn’t require getting one’s hands dirty. It only requires virtual signals and putting the correct sign in your yard.

      antonio

      1. Yes, and stupid things like renaming Aunt Jemima’s Syrup! Which is now called Pearl Milling Syrup. But the label says that it was formerly Aunt Jemima’s. Wow! Life in the hood really improved when poor old Aunt Jemima was sent to the Great Cotton Plantation In The Sky! 🙄

        1. “Yes, and stupid things like renaming Aunt Jemima’s Syrup! Which is now called Pearl Milling Syrup. ”

Seriously? That’s absurd. I haven’t bought corn based pancake syrup in many years; I went to pure maple quite some time ago, and since I went diabetic, I use none at all.

    2. Floyd, It wasn’t clear from your post whether white allies should move to a middle class vs. a lower class black neighborhood. I think you would learn the most from the middle class one in terms of breaking down stereotypes
that form in Americans who depend too much on negative news coverage.
