Video: How Not to Park Your BMW

This video outside workout place in Thornhill, Ontario is simply astonishing.

The driver of the X5 or X3 BMW flees the scene after ruining two cars.

Even the recent Korean over-sized parking spaces would not have avoided this one.

It is not clear who was driving, but he or she left a memorable video of how not to park

    It was an amazing video. I am just glad that there wasn’t anyone in the cars that he ran over! I thought that he was going to ram them again when he backed out and hesitated for a moment before he left the scene. Remind me to stay out of Thornhill in the future, unless I am driving a rental.

    This is truly amazing. In this Texas heat you can imagine the sun stoked induced misparking. However it could never compare to the time that a state Representative drove his vehicle off of the top of a 5 story parking garage. Now that was funny….No it was not me.

    Looks like pedal error to me. Notice how the BMW is moving through the lot at a reasonable speed, then suddenly accelerates into (and over) the parked cars at around 0:20.

    I agree with syskill: Driver most likely thought he/she was pressing the brake, and, unfortunately, keep pressing it for dear life!

    Also, professor, it looks like the X5 to me, but I could be wrong. Although I didn’t see any markings, it just looks bigger than the X3.

    I’m actually impressed by the fact that an ersatz SUV could climb up those cars so easily. The SUV class, which in essence is the descendant of the Jeep and then Hummer, mostly are overpowered station wagons with a too high center of gravity.

    Maybe, in this case, a longer–not wider–space may have been needed.

    so this is like the care version of that Northwest jet that over ran the runway by what? 147 miles or something?
    and this was at a workout place? so much for endorphins

    I hope that incident didn’t disturb the driver’s very important phone call! (We all know that putz was on the phone…)

    It is actually an impressive demonstration of the X-series “off road” capabilities!

    Well, the 4-wheel drive works.

    What I don’t like about SUV’s is their height, width, length, center of gravity, and mass. What design could absorb &/or deflect a force delivered on the side, well over the window frames, by a vehicle weighing 6000 pounds? Another 6000 pounder.

    Car manufacturers and designers have a void where a conscience used to fit and chose to fill it instead with money. Their engineers should be well aware of the impact dynamic of a three-ton SUV impacting a 3000 pound Corolloid in the side, or from any angle. Engineers understand cause and effect and can quantify it. So, are we to believe there is not a single designer or facilitator of the Leviathans that would talk about the risk deferential, with rudimentary Newtonian Physics on the record?

    Oh that’s right. Corporate probably had them sign away their ethics like it was free. Civilization doesn’t feel the single nick…
