The American Family Association has launched a crusade against Hallmark Greeting Cards for its decision to introduce a series of cards for same-sex couples. The AFA wants to start with a write-in campaign.
Last year, Hallmark started offering “coming out” cards and the company will now offer four designs of same-sex marriage cards.
In light of AFA’s campaign, Hallmark should now issue a line of cards for ticked off evangelicals and and religious right voters like “Here wishing that you were not a godless, Satan-driven card company” card.

There is some medical/psychiatric literature that equates hatred of homosexuals, with a repressed desire to commit homosexual acts
And if they don’t buy the literature, just take a look at the Rev Ted Haggard, who built an entire Neoconservative Christian church founded on the priniciple of hating homosexuals, right before he got popped copulating with a male prostitute while smoking crack.
And if you don’t know who Haggard is, just ask Senator Larry Craig. I’m sure he knows him.
Craigs the staunch anti-homosexual Neoconservative Republican senator that they found polishing knobs in a Minneapolis mens room.
Question for the alleged ‘conservatives’
Saint Augustine embraced Plato; even after reading the Symposium.
Do I hear it said that Jesus loves The American Family Association more than he loved Saint Augustine & Plato?
Or, in the words of Jack Handy:
“If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is “God is crying.” And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is “Probably because of something you did.””
Fox Reporter Assaulted By Anti-war Protestors In Denver
By Noel Sheppard
August 24, 2008 – 15:30 ET
The Democratic National Convention hasn’t even begun, and the protestors are out trying to Recreate 68.
For those unfamiliar, the group “was created for all the grassroots people who are tired of being sold out by the Democratic Party,” and are gathering in Denver to “resist a two-party system that allows imperialism and racism to continue unrestrained.”
High profile activists such as Cindy Sheehan and Cynthia McKinney have already joined the festivities.
On Sunday, Fox News’s Griff Jenkins tried to speak to these folks as they marched in Denver, but was instead verbally assaulted vulgarity warning.

Readers should be advised of some of the attendees:
The Re-create 68 Alliance also announced that anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan and Green Party Presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney and Green Party Vice Presidential candidate Rosa Clemente will be joining their historic line-up of speakers who include Ida Audeh, Kathleen Cleaver, Ward Churchill, Mark Cohen, Chairman Fred Hampton Jr., Larry Hales, Larry Holmes, Ron Kovic, Glenn Spagnuolo, Pamela Africa, King Downing, Jenny Esquiveo, Mumia Abu Jamal – Current Political Prisoner (Recorded from Death Row for the DNC), Gloria Estela La Riva, Ricardo Romero, Natsu Saito, Ann Erika White Bird, and others.
Given the participation of Sheehan, McKinney, and Churchill, one has to wonder how much attention these protests will get from media looking to do everything within their power to make it look like Democrats are all unified behind Obama.
Stay tuned.
Sometimes I scare myself with “thinking” like that, Jill.
Non thinking’s more like it.
Feel free to send my er….”greeting card suggestions” to Hallmark, on behalf of the AFA’s website if you like.
Send them with my compliments.
CroMM,
Great stuff! Per litzell above I went to the AFA website. What you wrote would fit right in. Very scary way of “thinking”.
Martha H.,
There is some medical/psychiatric literature that equates hatred of homosexuals, with a repressed desire to commit homosexual acts, and therefore the need to ban any acceptance of it as something that will weaken one’s own susceptibility to being homosexual. I’m sure that’s not true in your case, but one never knows.
While it is true that in the Gospels, Jesus makes no mention of homosexuality, it is called “an abomination” a few times in the Pentateuch. Eating pork and shellfish is also called “an abomination”
there, so I’m sure that as a good Christian you do not eat either. No Easter Ham for you. You might argue of course that Jesus and Paul taught that the old Pentateuch restrictions were surpassed by Jesus mission. However, if you do and Jesus made no mention of homosexuality, then isn’t it possible that Jesus abrogated that “abomination.”
When it comes to interpreting the Pentateuch, you really get on shaky ground when you pick and choose what to accept and what to throw out. For instance Jesus did have the opinion that people should not divorce and yet the rate of divorce in the Red States and among evangelicals is the highest in the nation. If the question “What would Jesus do?” is to be meaningfully followed, than perhaps the Right Wing Evangelical Movement should embrace his teachings on divorce. However, if you do follow Jesus on divorce, then of course you cannot vote for John McCain, an admitted adulterer and divorcee.

Martha H, Wow your position is amazing to me. Where is your support for the “4 % figure”? If you are going to protest a product, focus on those that are made by children, underpaid workers, and companies that give nothing to their communities.
If you go to the AFA website, they have a web page you can fill in to send an email to Hallmark. Here is the message I sent:
Dear Chairman Hall,
I commend Hallmark Cards for providing greeting card products for the friends and families of gay and lesbian couples who choose to marry, whether legally in Massachusetts, California, Canada or other countries, or in a commitment ceremony in any state in this country. Many of us wish our gay friends to have happy and complete lives, and these cards are just a small way to convey our feelings to them.
The campaign to boycott Hallmark over this product comes from a small but vocal group of bigots (and I thank them for making it easy for me to send this email through their website). You should not bow to bigotry. Do not cave to a boycott based on the ignorant hateful message these people put forth.
This boycott against same sex cards is ridiculous. It is organized hate crime under the guise of family values and religion.
Is it true that Hallmark is working on a new line of cards for the Man/Boy Love Association and the I love My Goat Foundation?
No, Martha H, 90% of people in the U.S. are not hate filled bigots such as yourself. You are in a small and shrinking minority, as much as you screech and try to puff yourselves up, like bullfrogs, to appear larger than you are.
>Hallmark, now run by a small bunch of ultra liberals, will find out >you don’t continually insult 90% of your market without losing sales.
No, Martha, the message is quite clearly that Hallmark, like a rapidly growing number of companies is not afraid of evangelical blathering any longer. We, (well, most of America anyway) are now fully aware that ALL people are capable of love and affection and are not very interested in abetting your spreading of hate and discrimination. Your time on the stage is over.
Just like a neo-con to condemn the promotion of compassion and good will. I thought they all got to Church.I wonder what they learn there? Investment advice?
For the same reason that same-sex marriage is unthinkable to most evangelicals.
Anything that puts homosexuals on an equal playing field is “infringing on their christian rights” or denigrating their marriage.
In other words, they are against equality for no legitimate reason.
I thought we were supposed to boycott them for printing Thomas Kincade cards.
I am wondering though how it’s insulting to heterosexuals to see cards concerning homosexuals.
martha h,
I would love to know where you got those statistics from, because they do not correlate to any polls that I am aware of (and please don’t cite some ulta-partisan source like PowerLine).
Hallmark is merely providing a service in which millions of people will be interested. When companies do as much, and some of their customers disagree, the customers simply do not purchase the product, typically. But you consider homosexual couples to be so morally abhorrent that it requires you to passionately speak out against Hallmark, personally boycott Hallmark, and even support an organized effort to prevent Hallmark from marketing to homosexuals. In other words, you advocate a total removal from the marketplace of products directed at a lifestyle in which millions of Americans peacefully partake.
This extreme position makes it reasonable to wonder whether you simply disapprove of homosexuality, or instead have a deeply-held hatred of homosexuality. In fact, you are so enraged by Hallmark’s actions that you fail to understand that this organized action is likely to garner more exposure for these greeting cards than would otherwise have been had.
Thank God our local store pulled them after a rash of complaints.
The store(s) is(are) also looking at carrying a different brand.
This has been going on for a period of time and this “in the face” insult was the last straw with a lot of consumers.
Hallmark, now run by a small bunch of ultra liberals, will find out you don’t continually insult 90% of your market without losing sales.
These Hallmark novices will find out the hard way that running a company while dependent on 4% of America as your customer base won’t work.
