You rail against the ‘silly’ positions others make about dogs then you go and take up an even sillier one by implying you know how another species understands color. Even between humans understanding color perception is a tricky subject. How does one explain ‘blue’ to someone who has always been blind?
Though to your credit, I doubt a dog could follow the rational trail of thought that leads from Canine Racial Harmony to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe then to the U.S. Economy. According to veterinarian Michale Richards, dogs do indeed see color as best we understand. Unlike our trichromism, dogs see certain hues of yellow and blue. The green to red spectrum is blocked due to the lack of receptor cones in the retina. Dogs have rod cells which allow them hues of gray as well. So dogs do see some color, and in fact, likely “see” more about the world than you apparently do.
