Obama: We Must Uphold Our Principles To Be Safe and Strong

225px-official_portrait_of_barack_obamaSpeaking to the graduating class of U.S. Naval Academy, President Barack Obama told the graduates that the best way to protect our nation is to stand up to its principles. I discussed the detainee issue last night on this segment of Countdown.

President Obama stated: “We uphold our fundamental principles and values not just because we choose to, but because we swear to — not because they feel good, but because they help keep us safe, . . . When America strays from our values, it not only undermines the rule of law, it alienates us from our allies, it energizes our adversaries and it endangers our national security and the lives of our troops.”

If only the White House would match its actions to its rhetoric, this country would be able to regain our moral and legal leadership in this troubled world. He needs to guarantee a trial for all detainees and to investigate the U.S. torture program.

    You know I like and appreciate you because I’ve already said it.

    I AM NOT SHOUTING I JUST WANT TO MAKE THIS CLEAR AND RESPOND TO YOU IN DIFFERENT TYPE SO I WILL NOT BE CONFUSED WITH ANOTHER POSTER.

    I THANK YOU AND I TOO LIKE YOU. IF YOU HAVE NOTICED THE POSTS ARE SHORTER AS I HAVE STARTED WORKING AGAIN.

    At times though you do go a little off in your fun mode. I DO AND I TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT I SAY AND I USUALLY DO NOT POST UNDER ANOTHER ASSUMED NAME, HERE I USED ANONYMOUSLY YOURS.

    I have no idea whether or not you choose to also post as others, but something in certain syntax’s seems similar. I do know for a fact that you thought the Patty C. period posts were funny and I do not.

    IF I DID IT I WOULD ADMIT TO IT AN I DID TO STOP THE BEEF WITH HERE.

    While its true that online we can pretend to be whoever we want, my personal preference is to be me and to let people see both the good and the bad.

    I WILL COME OUT OF THE BLAWG SOMEDAY BUT NOT TODAY. AS A MATTER OF FACT I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP IN CONTACT WITH SOME OF YOU OFF OFF THIS BLAWG BUT DID NOT WANT TO HAVE OTHERS HAVE THE NAME I USE OFF OF HERE. SO HOW WOULD I ACCOMPLISH THIS?

    I grew up in a family of unspoken secrets and it messed with my head.

    I TOO GREW UP IN A FAMILY OF A HELL OF A LOT OF UNSPOKEN SECRETS AND I HAD A LOT OF SHAME AND GUILT OF MY OWN TO DEAL WITH.

    My adult response to that has been to be out in the open as possible and I truly dislike it when people aren’t.

    I BECAME SOMEONE I COULD NOT EVEN STAND.

    For the most part I think you are out front….but there are times when you let the imp of the perverse get the best of you and I think you are a far better man than that.

    THAT TOO I AGREE WITH AND I TRY AND BE BETTER THAN THE DAY BEFORE AND I APPRECIATE THE GOOD YOU SEE IN ME. I RESPECT YOU FOR THAT.

    What is it about old fella’s like us that makes us strive for order? I know that as we all age there is a comfort with familiarity of surroundings and a need for peacefulness. As a hippie I was an avid rock concert attender, now while I still like the music I stay away. The last one my wife and I went to was Willie Nelson/Bob Dylan in Chicago 2005. Loved the players, couldn’t stand the crowd and left a great concert early. This blog is like a concert and sometimes it is hard to deal with the shenanigans.

    This behavior is becoming too bizarre. I just posted on another thread about what I will do from now onward, i.e., to ignore PC’s posts regardless of what she posts.

    AnonY, I respectfully, and especially, request that you completely ignore Patty C, notwithstanding what she has stated about you.

    I am through with my attempts to defend anyone within this blawg regarding Patty C and her attacks.
