Prehistoric Family Values: Senator Who Defended Traditional Marriage Is Sentenced for Slashing Face of Girlfriend and Dragging Her Through the Apartment Lobby

Hiram Monserrate attracted statewide attention in New York as one of the Democrats who defended “traditional marriage” and “family values” in recently voting down a bill that would have made same-sex marriage legal the state. His concept of family values was questioned after he was sentenced for assaulting his girlfriend Karla Giraldo. Monserrate slashed Giraldo’s face and dragged her through the lobby of his Queens apartment building. Good old family values from the Paleolithic Period.

Monserrate, an ex-Marine, was reportedly upset after he found another man’s business card in her purse. The glass broke against her face, cutting her near her left eye down to her skull and left a lasting scar.

He was originally charged with two felony counts and two misdemeanor counts of assault but acquitted him on the two felony assault charges. The evidence included a security video camera that showed Monserrate dragging Ms. Giraldo through the lobby of his apartment building and medical statements showing extensive bruises on her body.

He convicted on a single count of misdemeanor assault, which could carry a maximum of one year behind bars. But, as a first time offender, Queens Supreme Court Justice William Erlbaum gave Monserrate three years’ probation, 250 hours of community service and counseling

  1. I’ll take a stab at what family values “mean”.

Oh, and, HELLO! This is my first post at this blog (I think).

The term “family values” came up in response to the decline in marriage, the rise in promiscuity, and the feminist movement which taught young women to hate men (or at least mock them), and to love themselves in the guise of hating themselves.

Or was it hating themselves in the guise of loving themselves?

Oh I cannot remember. But I think it now has something to do with tattoos. The Ruskies had it right, the USA was decadent and the promotion of the family was a response to it. Hey, I admire them for saying so.

Anyway, that is what is meant by family values. The promotion of marriage (even though we might do it badly) and the criticism of promiscuity. It is about insisting that we tend to our children after we bring them into the world and put their interests ahead of our own.

It is about the things Peter Sorokin and JD Unwin wrote about. It is about the things Toynbee also noted.

    That’s it for now!

  2. Here is a link to an article on why The Washington Post is under fire for having Sarah Palin write an Op Ed. Isn’t it awful how much publicity she gets being that she’s so ignorant and married to a secessionist traitor.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/08/sarah-palin-wapo-faces-he_n_385070.html

Oops excuse me. This is a thread about an NYC Democratic politician abusing a woman. I guess Sarah Palin isn’t at issue. Silly me for ignoring the conventions of this blog and just writing any crap that seems to advance my particular causes. That is not only rude, it also might indicate that I am little more than a bigoted troll, who may get paid to disrupt this blog. Curiously, at the same time I really want to be taken seriously and felt of as a part of this blog.

Oh wait, that’s not me I’m talking about, it’s a bigoted troll named bdaman, who has been extended far too much courtesy here. However, this blog is a free speech zone and its’ proprietor is loathe to limit peoples free speech, as are most of us regulars here. So we suffer the nonsense that bdaman posts and sometime even swat it down as easily as swatting a bug. That’s the difference between people with the ability to think and those who merely parrot those up whose behinds their noses are stuck.

  3. There is only one issue on this thread that is legitimate.

Hiram Monserrate is a criminal being protected by criminals who would smear an innocent man to protection one of their own. They would do so with lies and homophobic bigotry.

Again, ask yourself why a troll would keep coming back to their slander when faced with a legitimate accusation against one of their own?

  4. One has to wonder why the president appointed this guy.

When I think about it, it starts to sound like Larry Sincalr might be telling the truth after all.

  5. No advertisements featuring Tiger Woods have run on prime-time television broadcast networks or 19 cable channels since late last month, after reports of his extramarital affairs, according to data from Nielsen Co. [snip]

The No. 1 ranked golfer’s standing with the public has plunged in the wake of reports of infidelity that followed a Nov. 27 car accident outside his home near Orlando, Florida. Woods’ ranking among celebrity endorsers plunged to 24th from 6th, according to the Davie Brown Index, which is used to gauge the ability of personalities to influence shoppers. [snip]

The golfer’s $110 million in annual income from endorsements and tournaments, as estimated by Forbes magazine, hinges on his standing with consumers. Woods ranked as the world’s fourth-highest paid celebrity in the 12 months through June 30, the magazine said. In October, he became the first athlete to top $1 billion in career earnings.

there is a double standard involved. In politics, certain figures one would assume would be vulnerable to removal for sexual misconduct of any sort that might have an impact on youngsters seem not to be judged by the same standard.

Obama’s “Safe School Czar” Kevin Jennings is the person to whom I’m referring.

Are American parents more concerned about their kids drinking Gatorade promoted by a serial adulterer than they are about a school czar who headed an outfit that promoted to children pedophilia, toddler sex games, prostitution, fisting and anal sex in restrooms?

Or, is it possible that the press, as it once did with Woods, is continuing to cover for Jenkins (and his boss, the President) so that parents are unaware of the situation and would demand action-Jennings removal from political office– if they did know.

These days it seems one has a far more educated choice as a consumer of sports drinks than one does as a tax paying parent.

  6. Here’s todays update on the School Safety Czar.

The Washington Times is the first major news organization to report on the latest shocking revelations concerning Barack Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings.

The children who attended Kevin Jennnings’ GLSEN 2005 Conference left with their own “Little Black Book – Queer in the 21st Century”.

This book exposes the young teens to–
Rimming – Fisting – Water Sports (Pi$$ Play) – Toys
It’s what every teen needs to know…

The page titled “How safe is dat?” introduces young teens to fisting, rimming, and watersports (pi$$ing on your partner). Shouldn’t every teen know this?

And in case any of the teens got bored, GLSEN was also kind enough to include a list of the local gay bars in the booklet distributed to high school students.

The entire Little Black Book is posted here.

  7. When i was eight there started a spate of movies about knights and feudal times. I wnet to my local library and was told by the librarian that Ivanhoe was and “adult” book and therefore I couldn’ttake it out. My parents who never limited or censured what I read had to go to the library and sign a letter authoprizing me to take out any book I wanted, from any section. That began a lifetime of varied reading pleasure and while in 9th grade when my fellow students were giving book reports on “Little Women,” my reports were on Lolita, Lady Chatterly’s Lover, Ulysses and Henry Miller. The breadth of my reading helped me through High School, College and Graduate School.

People, who through false religiosity, or mistaken belief that ideas can harm children have for too long had the upper hand in America’s version of censorship and book-burning. It has been one factor in the dumbing down of this nation to the point when seriously ignorant people like George w. Bush and Sarah Palin are considered by some Presidential material intellectually.

The false belief to that environment creates homosexuality leads to the idea that books about gay sex are destructive and their distribution will cause harm. This is a tenet of many faux conservatives and a method for them to defame those who don’t share their views or lifestyle. The more information that children have about sex and safe sex, the less the country will be plagued by STD’s,
teenage pregnancy and even sexual activity. The latter is true because the norm for frequency of human sexual activity has stayed pretty much the same throughout history, despite what some Victorian Historians believed, but where it has spiked has actually been in era’s where the ongoing morality has been anti-sexual. The “anti” part makes the trying and doing more enticing.

That’s why in the Bible Belt, run by paragons of moral correctness, the rates of teenage sexuality, teenage pregnancy, std’s and yes even divorce lead the country. In life it is always the repressors who in the throes of their censoring, actually create the demand for what to them are the “evil” choices. See Prohibition and The War on Drugs for edifying examples.

  8. bdaman–

I’ll address the original issue of the children’s book list that we discussed at the other post:

Many times books dealing with certain issues will be put on lists of recommended books. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the people who make the lists are advocating that teachers read the books aloud in the classroom. I taught all kinds of children in more than thirty years as a public school educator. A number of my students came from broken homes. Some had parents who were addicted to drugs or alcohol. Some were physically and/or emotionally neglected. Some were minority students. I’m sure I had many students who were gay or lesbian.

I believe it’s of great import to have quality books on hand in a library that a teacher or librarian can recommend to children who may be dealing with particular situations–books that will speak to them about their lives and maybe help them to understand that there are other children like them…may help them to feel less alone…may help them to learn how to deal with difficult problems.

Not one of the books I mentioned at the other post is about homosexuality.

  9. Elaine, Sorry to answer you here but my screen locks up on the other thread and our discussion is a carry over to what has been discussed on this thread yesterday.

I have reviewed your list and no, I have not read any of those books. Judging by the titles, I assume that because of the discussion we were having the other day that the books either deal with homosexuality or kids not treating others with respect or not playing well together.

I remember from your website that you were an elementary teacher so I also assume that these books are possibly for kids 1-6. I’m sure that someone with your tenure has nothing but high praise for these books or else you would not of asked me about them. That is, unless there was something else you were trying to communicate to me. Hopefully these books do not have any sexual references in them based on the targeted age group.

I’m not homophobic, but if your principal was recommending to you that your students should read books that have this in them

    http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_yn_JlLEfg6g/Sxmgm9GwHZI/AAAAAAAABfM/f45ijS2VvXg/s1600-h/boy.jpg

which comes from one of many GLSEN recommended books for reading and is still available, i’m sure you would be up and arms. This is my point. This has nothing to do with tolerance, nothing to do with acceptance, nothing to do with equal rights. It is the promotion of sexual acts to young influential minds. This is not from 25 years ago.

This recent scandal dubbed “Fistgate” originated in 2000 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fistgate

    After Jennings offered an apology

    Quote

“Like the Parents Rights Coalition and the Department of Education, GLSEN is also troubled by some of the content that came up during this workshop,” said Kevin Jennings, national executive director of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network.

He said people who run workshops in the future will get clearer guidelines, though Jennings said the network’s annual conference at Tufts University should not be judged on the 30-student seminar “What They Didn’t Tell You About Queer Sex and Sexuality in Health Class.”

“We need to make our expectations and guidelines to outside facilitators much more clear,” said Jennings. “Because we are surprised and troubled by some of the accounts we’ve heard.”

    Unquote

for what transpired, promised to clean the program up he does it again in 2001 and now we have Fistgate II. We find out today, that at one of GLSENs workshop conventions that Planned Parenthood was passing out Fisting Kits complete with instructions. It’s sick. How could anyone appoint Kevin Jennings the school safety czar.

An all out war has now broken out between Andrew Briepart from Big Government, Media Matters and John Podesta and it’s ugly. It’s no wonder that the president rating is now the lowest of any president in history up to this point.

Here are some excerps from FistgateII

Fistgate II was held on Saturday in the same building at Tufts University as last year with the same message about how to practice homosexual sex.

More students attended this year. Out of approximately 650 attendees, about 400 of those were students.

Kits of plastic gloves intended for “fisting” or oral sex were distributed at Planned Parenthood’s table in the lobby.

Public funds were used for the event with at least two school buses being used to transport students, from Methuen High School and Marblehead Public Schools. Adam Glick, Conference Coordinator, said he did not know how the buses were paid for. Other children were transported by public school teachers in private cars.

The private homosexual sponsor, GLSEN, is given state funds for many purposes and does not publicly report on how the money is spent.

There was a heightened sense of security with many Tufts campus police being highly visible in order to stop parents from seeing what occurred at the conference.

Although Tufts University was able to claim ignorance about the event last year, they obviously became complicit this year when they welcomed the conference back and provided the security muscle to keep the strategy sessions and indoctrination of the children running smoothly.

Planned Parenthood of Massachusetts distributed kits for fisting and oral sex. They contained a single plastic glove, a package of K-Y lubricant and instructions on how to make a “dental dam” out of the material.

The instructions explained how to cut up the glove with scissors until all that remains is a rubber rectangle with the “thumb” portion protruding from the middle. “Use the thumb space for your tongue,” say the directions.

The label on the ziplocked package says, “protects against STD’s,” and bears the Planned Parenthood logo and phone number.

GLSEN (Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network) got into trouble last year for hosting a workshop that gave young teens explicit how-to instructions on homosexual sex practices such as “fisting.” The ensuing scandal was subsequently dubbed “Fistgate.”

Regarding “dental dams,” Dr. John Diggs, a specialist in internal medicine who lectures about STDs, said that the kits create a false sense of security. “I’ve written a brochure about this whole thing,” he said. “The way I describe it is, I ask ‘How many people want to take a bite of a sandwich without taking the wrapper off?’ ‘How many people want to suck on balloons?’ Nobody does.”

  10. 1) bdaman is a bigot by his own actions.

    2) bdaman is a troll by is own admission and actions.

    3) Ergo, maybe it was the homophobic trolls attempting distraction.

That’s the Occam’s Razor solution given the messenger.

There is only one issue here and it revolves around a heterosexual who attacked a woman being protected by bad guys he supports.

  11. Maybe it was the headline.

Prehistoric Family Values and Traditional Marriage that got the Homosexuality going.

  12. The issue here is Hiram Monserrate is being protected for a crime that shows he’s not fit for office by fascist enemies of the U.S. for whom he did a favor.

    Nothing else.

  13. “I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. Already they have raised up a moneyed aristocracy that has set the Government at defiance. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people to whom it properly belongs.”
    – Thomas Jefferson

“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”
    – Thomas Jefferson

The system of banking [is] a blot left in all our Constitutions, which, if not covered, will end in their destruction… I sincerely believe that banking institutions are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money
to be paid by posterity … is but swindling futurity on a large scale.”
    – Thomas Jefferson

“I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this ground that ‘all powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are preserved to the states or to the people.’ … To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn around the powers of Congress is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition. The incorporation of a bank, and the powers assumed by this bill (chartering the first Bank of the United States), have not, been delegated to the United States by the Constitution.”
    – Thomas Jefferson

Read ’em and weep, Fascist. My four of a kind beats your high card.

Like I said. You appeal to the illiterate and ignorant.

  14. “What more is necessary to make us a happy and prosperous people? Still one thing more … a wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from labor the bread it has earned.” – Thomas Jefferson

  15. Thankfully I missed this thread in the crush of visiting relatives.
Getting back to the original theme, Hiram Monserrate has been known for years in NY Democratic circles as a cretin, whose party affiliation has much to do with expediency and little to do with belief. It’s nice to see him being laid low somewhat, but his total disappearance from the political scene would be even better.

  16. Yes. You’re American in that you support fascism. You should really consider running for Senate.

The job of government is regulation and basic social support systems. If you have a problem with that, go pay taxes in another country. Like Saudi Arabia. You know, the tools you support by towing the Big Oink, er, Oil line in that POS propaganda trash you linked to.

Oh, that’s right, you bunch of jingoistic greed merchants don’t pay your taxes do you.

FauxAmerican is more like it. You’re all “me me me” and “money money money”. Just like your bosses at FAUXNews. Your loyalty is clearly to nothing but your own pocketbook. And to be clear, I’m not questioning your patriotism. In your mind, you probably think you are a hero. So did Mussolini. I’m questioning your parroting corporatism and calling you a fraud if you think that trash is in anyway actually a reflection of actual American values.

Fascism isn’t an American value according to our Founding Fathers. It is a value of despots and dictators. I really hope you like your money, Venal American. You may be forced to eat it at some point. Or the poor may just eat you first. Either way, you’re in for a rude surprise in the long run, sport.

And you’d think you simps would pick up on that I’m not going to let you keep driving away from the salient point of this thread:

Again, the issue here is the Neocons are fighting to protect one of the bought off, their own Hiram Monserrate. If he’d screwed your lot in the NY Senate deal, you’d all be after his head.

Neocons are the enemy within. Your little YouTube propaganda is straight from the PNAC play book. Distract and smear. You’ve been listening to Karl again.

Too bad for you anyone with half a brain knows you’re pushing the agenda of both corporate and “elected” criminals. Too bad you tried to float that turd where the average reader has a whole brain. You should consider your audience more. Propaganda of that “quality” is better suited for World Nut Daily or Matt Dork or FAUX audiences. You know. The illiterate and ignorant.
