Faith-Healing Parents in Oregon Convicted of Negligent Homicide

A church in Oregon has the infamous reputation of killing children in the name of faith. Now, two parents — Jeff and Marci Beagley — have been found guilty of negligent homicide. Their case was discussed in this prior column. It is a welcomed charge (often religious parents are given lesser charges in the death of their children due to faith-healing), but the likely sentence is likely to be relatively low given the history of this church and the loss of life.

They will face only 16-18 months in the death of their sixteen-year-old Neil who died from a urinary tract blockage that could have been easily addressed by doctors. I have argued that faith-healing parents are being given special and lenient treatment over other neglectful parents, here.

The Followers of Christ church rejects conventional medicine in favor of faith-healing.

  1. AY:

so you and Buddha had a simultaneous culminatory post? Or is the argument still hot?

  2. Mespo:

I think 30% might be CroMagnum Man based on how he does the ratatat posts. See these links. Although he could be Waynebro. It is a toss up. I dont think Cromagnum and Waynebro are the same person though.

  3. Damn, Buddha. You posted at the same time I did or just a little quicker. Am I who I am or am I you? I am confused after yesterdays diatribe.

  4. Bdaman,

What are you trying to state. Maybe my meds are not in sync either. I am confused by your posting.

  5. You posit AY’s postings as counter to my assertion?

    Weak. Also beside the point.

The bed you are in is of your own making. Because you have company is of no concern other than to note the “lump count” in the sheets.

  6. Buddah I think your meds aren’t allowing you total recall. As proof you didn’t read this thread properly as 30%er was so correctly to point out.

Bdaman, Duh, Mika, and all of you other doubting trolls, troll time is over. Go home.

    Bdaman,

You persist in many screen names don’t you?

Please Bdaman, wayne, troll non de plume,

Tell him the truth. You have scared him.

  7. It’s a funny thing about logic.

Claims about a singular identity from one who has admitted to using false fronts before. That’s the thing about admissions and statements, badtroll. They are hard to retract in a room like this.

Ever hear about the boy who cried wolf?

One troll does not preclude another yet it does present an opportunity to play a version of word sense disambiguation with identity. Obfuscation deployed as tactical misdirection. Here’s a hint as to why you are not going to sell that you are not a troll in your own right in this instance:

    1) We have had two plus trolls for some time. I don’t think it is a mischaracterization to state this is the group consensus, but feel free to test the assertion as you like.

    2) This observation comes from not only style cues but from content cues.

    3) Based on content alone, we’ve had an Opus Dei lunatic fringe RCC troll for some time before you showed up, bdaman. In this you are correct: you are not one of Wayne’s incarnations. And be glad. Wayne’s incarnations always manage to get violence or intimidation involved at some point. This points to him not only as a troll, but as someone with a psychological issue.

    4) “I’m not him!” does not mean you are not, bdatroll – confessed propagandist with multiple identities and a disruption agenda. And don’t forget bigot on that list of the finer qualities you’ve previously displayed.

However, attempted obfuscation will not mitigate your past tactics nor diminish the futility of your attempts to re-write your own history vis a vis past admissions and actions.

So you go ahead and try that variation of “Who’s on first?” It’s going to make some of us giggle . . . just not how you intended.

    Bon chance.

  8. AY, I can assure you that it was not me. I’ve never been one to make threats. I’ve been checking in, but I have’t posted much this week. In this economy it’s nice to be busy.

  9. FYI AY I only turned it on you because you began to turn it on me. I, for the record one more time, am Bdaman not duh wayne or anyone else you think may be a nom de plume. I was very very tempted to post last night as Nom De Plume, but didn’t.

Hey Thirty you are dirty and I am going to take you out you filthy lying sack of septic stuff.
    *********************

That was not very nice. Can you answer Badman why you insist of saying something like this.

For the most part we all try and get along. Please no more threats. If you are going to make them, please do so at me. I am not as fragile.

If this is you wayne, duh, bdaman or any other non de plume de jour. Please I am asking that we only have civil discourse.

  11. Alls I can say is I knew where he was going and was trying to allure me in a dance with the pawns. I get tired of idle pursuits and conceded.

It was funny to hear the Vengeance is mine routine. Coffee is made not a sun in the sky. I hope its going to be a better day.

  12. BIL:

“hus again showing why you are always a popular panelist with viewers of “American Idyll”, or as it is marketed domestically, “Name That Troll”.”

    ******************

Just call me “Paula” and pass me another “Coke.”

  13. mespo,

I’ll second. You sir have made a most timely and accurate nomination, thus again showing why you are always a popular panelist with viewers of “American Idyll”, or as it is marketed domestically, “Name That Troll”.

  14. Unless you are speaking of Wayne Jarvis or Waynster those are the only two I can think of. Waynster actually links to newsvine so I’m not sure who you are referencing.

  15. AY:

Any chicken may second, of course, but I rather see our 30%’er as more like the attorney who, during a competency hearing, vehemently argues for his client’s sanity even as the poor fellow slides beneath the table and into a fetal position.

    P.S.: This happened to me.

  16. Bdman:

“Mespo Waynebro was before my time but I’ll second it anyway.”

    **************

I think not, or you have seen the reincarnation of Waynebro.

  17. 30 I demand an answer to my question.

Are you Bipolar and do you have long conversations while looking into a mirror.
