  1. Slarti,

Some people call that Mexican. I would give Taco bell higher marks. Now the 2nd floor at the EL one, ok. The one on Saginaw near MLK aka Logan I would not give you 2cents for the food. There is a place just west of MLK on Saginaw called Las Plamas is great and about as authentic as you can get. The Pico is to die for and one that they have you think you have as your mouth and lips burn for about 2 to 3 mins.

  2. Canadian Eh,

    Basil’s good too…

Well, I’ve got to get some science done now, so good night and good food to all!

  3. Slarti….
I have not been partaking of plants of any sort….well I did have some fresh basil on a sandwiche earlier today, does that count. The munchies, if they do occur, will strictly be the result of the food discussions on this thread today 🙂

  4. [The poster who may switch to a handle identifying herself as the female progenitor of a student at a university, the identifier of which is a combination of the given name of general Washington (as well as both my father and brother-in-law) and a term for a small municipality],

I hope that I have never misspelled your name – I really do try to avoid spelling and grammar mistakes, my sincere apologies if any slipped through.

    Canadian Eh,

The muchies, eh? Have you been partaking of plants that would require the sort of paraphernalia that may be purchased at the premises called Su Casa in Lansing that I mentioned in passing previously? I hear that it is permitted in your parts… (Sorry about all the pees, they were on sale ;-))

  5. See what you started Buddha….all with the innocent mention of Avocados!

  6. You guys call me all kinds of different spellings of my daughter’s college. She will graduate soon and I might be changing the name to G’town mom.

  7. Slarti….
Double mmmmmmm….cilantro, damn I just ate dinner. This thread is a dangerous place today, I’m glad I got in my 90 minutes at the gym earlier because I can feel a case of the munchies coming on later!

  8. Sharthmore Mom,
I think that I’ve only ever had Tex/Mex….the only ” Mexican ” Restaurant where I live is the ” Lonestar Steakhouse “.

  9. To Elaine M.

Thanks for the Christian News Network’s Weatherman. I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard in my life. I used to live in Dallas, the “Buckle of the Bible Belt” and it really struck a chord. They actually had a dude down there who claimed he could heal you through the TV. “Put your hand on the television and, oh by the way, don’t forget to send in your “prayer offering.””

    To Prof. Turley

I grew up with pure bred (i.e., no mixtures) standard poodles and they are SMART. I don’t know about a mixture of a jack russell with anything-those dogs are hyper.

Congratulations on a new addition to the family.

  10. AY,
Hmmm…sounds as though someone may have mentioned my Princess like ways.

    Slarti,
    Thanks again 🙂

  11. AY,

In the Lansing area, El Azteco is my personal favorite (2 locations – one in Lansing one in the middle of downtown East Lansing), but I was referring to a taco stand in Durham, NC (home of the national champion Duke Blue Devils! Sorry, I couldn’t resist). And FYI, 127 is a North-South freeway, with East Lansing on the east and Lansing on the west – Bud Kouts Chevy is on Michigan Ave. just west of 127. And I know how to say Chevy – I grew up in East Lansing. Incidentally, the small municipality southwest of Lansing and the large city in North Carolina may both be named ‘Charlotte’ but they are pronounced very differently…

    Swarthmore Mom,

My fajitas are good whatever you call them. And the open faced tacos at the place I mentioned in Durham are incredible (steak, onions, fresh radish slices and cilantro with a lime wedge to squeeze – yum!). I’ll have to go get some later this week. And FYI, the place called Su Casa in Lansing is a head shop, so don’t go there looking for Mexican food…

  12. Ay There is Manuel’s on South Congress but it is farther north in the downtown area.

  13. I did have good Mexican food in Chicago. Lived near a place called Su Casa. It was great. Moved to Minnesota and the Mexican food was really bad there. Too many gringos

  14. Did not see it. Went to Guero’s 1412 South Congress. Wish I was back in Austin this weekend.

  15. Swartzmore Mom,

Is that place still there that is called EL Gallios?
