Pet of the Week: A Call for Bloggie Doggies (and Other Post-Worthy Pets)

Given the response over our new addition of Molly Turley, I have decided to create a new category for our bloggers to share pictures and stories of their pets. I will select one posting each Saturday.

Bloggers can email me pictures of their pets (including pictures with their pets) for posting. Submissions should include the following information and answers to the following questions:

Favorite food

1. What story or habit sums up your pet’s character or lack thereof?

2. What historical figure does your pet most resemble? (Outfits are permitted)

3. Why would your pet be a good choice for the Supreme Court and what judicial philosophy would he or she likely bring to rulings?

4. What public office would your pet be best suited to assume?

5. Which Supreme Court justice or leading politician would you feel most comfortable and least comfortable in using as a pet sitter for a weekend?

Each week’s winner will be authorized to buy a plain white tee-shirt and write on the front in marker: “Winner of The Turley Blog’s Pet of the Week.” Of course, our budget will not allow reimbursement but you can certainly demand discounts from local merchants.

  1. Pete, 2T, the professor has a call and ‘how to’ for “bloggie doggies and other post-worthy pets” at this address:

Check it out if you haven’t seen the invitation before.

There have been so pictures of some lovely pets posted to Turleyblawg.

2T, I don’t think you can upload pics to your responses, but you can submit them to the Professor. Read the instructions in the linked posting.

Pete, a dog named Sunshine Gummibear Snickerdoole Amos would get extra points for the name alone if you had a pic and bio you wanted to submit to the Professor via email.

I don’t think this feature was discontinued, but we may have run out of blawgers that had pets that didn’t hide at the sight of a camera. Mine hide.

  2. Pardon me?

I thought weekends were made for Michelob…..

    Great Ideal.

  3. Another reason to look forward to the weekend. Thanks and Happy Birthday! Molly’s adorable!

  4. I love doggies. And I think it would be a nice to have a feature on this blog about dogs.

But I don’t know how to upload, embed, or whatever.

So I’d like to provide a stick figure of my dog instead.

    Translation: (tail-comma, back legs-forward slash, body-hyphens, front legs-backwards slash, ears-upper case 6, and nose-upper case period)

    She’s a Sheltie (Sheltland Sheepdog).

But I’ll bet you guess that already.

You can see she is smiling too.

  5. Makes one nervous. Some people raise pet to eat them…..Yaw’ll hear this now. Them animals ain’t no pets, they is raised to eat.

  6. Woosty’s still a Cat,

I feel very bad because I do have one pet left and I forgot all about her. She’s a beautiful Persian and something cat that one of the kids found under a pile of wood when she was just a little kitten. Naturally we took her in … paid the huge Vet bills and finally brought her home. She immediately ran down the basement stairs and has never once come upstairs. It’s been over 12 years!! She comes up only to visit the Vet for her yearly check-up. The basement is her territory and none of the other animals were allowed to invade her space. I see her about twice a week. She’s perfectly happy … go figure ……………

  7. Hey Blouise!

“at one point in time my home was a zoo … 2 house rabbits who loved to sit on the couch with me and watch T.V., three cats all named for different liquors (1 cat could turn on water spigots and whenever anyone, guests included, used the bathroom, she would follow them in, hop in the tub and turn on the water), 2 dogs, 1 parakeet, 2 gerbils, a tank of tropical fish, and a beta in his own little tank, a turtle, and a pony.”

You’re my kind of critter fool 😉

    I’m not even close w/3 Monster Manx cats, 2 parrots and 2 pigeons…but now I don’t feel like such a weirdo 🙂

ps…my cat likes to hang out in the sink staring up at the spigot which is a riot when the occasional drip inevitably comes out…

That sounds fine; however, I sure would hate to see the basic flavor of this *legal* blawg change. Right now, we read the topics that you choose and accompanied by the associated legal wisdom, wit, and humor–I prefer that such insight does not change for more than part of a day and only once per week. We all have access to Huffington Post et al. and it is easy to find material with which to swamp you and take time away from your original posts, which are the main draw for me.

If you should ever want assistance with blawg maintenance of any kind—say with moderation *after* a post is make to keep us in line—I suggest Nal and I bet others would agree (if he wants and if he is available). Nal has demonstrated to us all that he is steady, fair, and is of course, a fine proofreader. Really, moderation is not a constant need but occasionally that could help you. There are other maintenance tasks he could perform, as needed.

  9. Okay … I’ll go to an old thread that hasn’t been archived yet and practice.

  10. There are many other HTML codes and “formatting tags” for bold, italicized text and morewith exercises to try here

I prefer not to use tags too much and some people go overboard with their use. However, italicizing quotes and using bold to differentiate text between different writers is helpful, as some posters here have demonstrated. Go ahead and try the tagged text out in the blawg threads and the worst that could happen is this bold or the tags displaying without the expected text changes.

Lastly, Nal is here to assist us.
