English Couple Killed in Pakistan in Honor Killing After Daughter Backs Out of Arranged Marriage

We have been following honor killing in the United States and aboard. This tragedy has a different aspect however. Gul Wazir, a taxi driver from Birmingham and his wife Begum were killed in Pakistan after reportedly returning to make amends for their daughter breaking off an arranged marriage.

The couple decided that, out of respect, they would return to the village to explain her daughters decision. The man was not happy after the marriage had been promised. He reportedly proceeded to kill them both out of “honor.”

Such killings are supposedly common in the Muslim area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

  1. Swmom,

Tomorrow we are going to a Mexican Restaurant for brunch. The chef is Mexican and has introduced us to some marvelous dishes. I’m going to mark down the names of the ice cream and sauce and ask him about them.

  2. Blouise Actually I am going to Austin this week and plan to have the mexican vanilla with the mexican cajeta sauce on it. I probably should have the vegan ice instead.

Looks like we have a lot of Libertarians on here….

I intensely dislike having a box checked next to my name.

  4. AY,

Has TraterB besmirched your reputation with false charges? I shall go beat him up with word play. 😈

(I fixed the thing so now I get notices) Thank you, kind sir

  5. Ay You are not a racist. I have observed that. There are bright and not so bright people of every race as you know. There’s more to Al Green’s story. The republicans could have recruited him because of his name. Amy’s ice cream in Austin is the best ice cream ever. If you are down there, try the Mexican vanilla.

  6. When I was in Austin, I did not like Ice Cream much. Its really hard to wolf down a gallon while stoned. Now twinkies is a different story, or even Mexican food. But safe to say, TraderB, whom I suspect in another poster with multiple nom de plumes is trying to paint me as a racist. Only because I said that the candidate from South Carolina did not look to bright. But then again, vermin knows its own and tries and deflect blame elsewhere….just sayin….

  7. I am not much of a Tea Party Advocate. If you really think about it, the Colonist used the Indians Costumes to blame somebody else for there own actions. So, why in the world would somebody want to affiliate with a Not Me Syndrome and lay the blame elsewhere. I think it boils down to personal responsibility.

  8. AY A lot of people like third parties on here. Some even advocate the tea party.

  9. John,

Are you here recruiting. If so I am fairly sure that most here are firm in the convictions of whom they want in office. Do you have any realistic suggestion? TraderB, is here recruiting for the not to bright guy named Brietbart and Herr Karl Rove. Who is it you suggest we look at?

  10. Fighttheignorant,

Keep up the good work….you’ll have a career path for the rest of your natural born days….see if you can get paid……roflol

Impose your religious views? LOL Its murder you twit.
Religion is not an excuse. It is a crutch.

  12. lOTTAKATZ:

thanks, I thought it was interesting as well. In my opinion there are objective standards of morality and they don’t necessarily come to us from religion. In fact in some instances religion is a damper to morality.
