The Dove World Outreach Center (DWOC), headed by Rev. Terry Jones has already triggered violence internationally with its promise this weekend to burn copies of the Koran (Qu’ran) and prompted our military commander in Iraq to speak out that such a hateful act would put the lives of U.S. soldiers in jeopardy. Jones, however, is unmoved and is willing to sacrifice someone’s son or daughter for his publicity stunt. Now, we are learning how really creepy this group is.
The 50-family Gainesville church is headed by Jones and his wife Sylvia. Its “Academy Rulebook” was written in November 2007 by Sylvia Jones. The rulebook restricts every part of the lives of students including cutting off contact with family members. They warn “[f]amily occasions like wedding, funerals or Birthdays are no exception to this rule . . . No phone calls. Exceptions can be made under certain circumstances but only after receiving permission.” Romantic relationships are barred: “there is no need to talk at all, or even flirt!” Students must be weighed repeatedly and are barred from “eating out in restaurants.” Students are told to “wash or shower at least once a day but not more then 2 a day,” and to be sure to cleanse “Mouth, sweat areas, hair, feet hands.”
For members have accused the Jones’ of abuse and using church funds for personal purposes. They appear to be in the furniture selling business, though allegations have been raised about the use of the church for this purpose (here).
Jones, 58, is the author of “Islam Is of the Devil” and models much of his lectures on the movie “Braveheart.”

FF Leo,
I’m sure she will. Changing Newt’s diapers will be a most messy job indeed…considering he’s so full of YOU KNOW WHAT!
Ms. EM,
Even as a Republican, I have always strongly disliked the hypocritical Gingrich. Unless the money is too enticin’, this mistress/now wife will likely abandon the Newt when it comes to the age of a’ changin’ his diapers stage…
More fear-mongering brought to you by Newt “The Slimy Salamander” Gingrich–and his former mistress/current(third) wife:

I prefer that moron Jones goes ahead with the burning of the Koran and I suggest that he uses the B-I-B-L-E as kindlin’.
What could possibly be wrong with burnin’ 2 books of pure fiction–this aint Playboy or War n’ Peace we’re talkin’ ’bout.
Buckeye,
I’m fairly certain it was a typo — having it be “hasn’t” is the only way the post makes sense.
Buckeye & lottakatz,
I can see the FBI showing up being intimidating or not, depending on how they behaved and what they discussed. Having them discuss the security situation for the event or threats from overseas would not be intimidating. Having them make veiled threats about investigating his church would clearly be intimidation. Without more information I’m not willing to weigh in on one side or the other.
Slarti,
Bob must really like you … he follows you where ever you go!
lottakatz,
I think much of what you wrote is what Buckeye is sensing.
I deal with the same set of circumstances where my husband is concerned … good days, bad days, really bad days.
Close your eyes and imagine my hand reaching out to yours, taking it and applying a gentle squeeze …
So, I have not been following the conversation on the towers but I came across this info and thought it was interesting…as the arguments, continue….
‘As the number of verified architect and engineer petitioners at AE911Truth passes 1,000, the number describing themselves as aerospace engineers, or as engineers who have contributed professionally to the aerospace field, exceed sixty.’

Bob,
Here is a link which specifically debunks the video you posted. More evidence of the lack of quality in your arguments…

eniobob,
I read that article by Linkins this morning. Good evaluation of the idiot media folks we have presenting us with “the news” these days.
Sorry, the above was addressed to lottakatz
I see intimidation when the FBI visits someone that has broken a Federal law and hasn’t declared plans to do so; a person causing the government great consternation by exercizing his right.
—————————————————–
I’m having difficulty following the first part of your sentence. Do you mean the “pastor” has broken a Federal law and didn’t plan to do so? Could you elaborate? I was unaware he (the pastor) had broken any Federal law. And why would a visit to explain that crime be considered intimidation?
Perhaps you have more experience with FBI investigations than I do. And more experience with the information they had to prompt this visit.
If I had no reason to think I’d committed a federal offence, I would be happy to talk to the FBI; as I think this would give them a chance to explain to me the information they had and that I ought to know if I was to proceed in a particular action. That information could change my mind – or not.
Of course, as I previously stated, I doubt anything they could say, short of telling him of threats against him they have discovered, will change this fellow’s mind. That may have happened and that was the reason he grabbed onto the fairy tale of the mosque being moved because of HIMSELF.
Call me naive, but I fail to see intimidation and facist motives in every single action of the government, whether local, state, or national. Some prophecies can be self-fulfilling, and may be if we act in an unwarrented manner.
Yesterday afternoon, the leader of a microscopic cult of idiots who announced plans to stage an “international” day of Quran burning in Gainesville, Florida held a press conference, for a rapt media which decided that his moronic plans were the single most important thing going on in America. At that press conference, in front of “9/11 Truther” signs, this cult leader lied to everyone who was watching, telling them that he was going to call off his 9/11 book burning festival because he had successfully reached a deal with the people behind the Park51 community center in Lower Manhattan, in which they would move their facility away from the site of the World Trade Center.
Not a word of this was true, but it was amazing, all the same — at one fell swoop, we had finally knit up the strands of a season of irrationality into one big, shiny, synergized knot. This was supposed to be the end of Recovery Summer? More like Relapse Summer.

Tootie,
If you’re going to call Islam evil because it has wingnuts, then you’re you’re admitting that Christianity is evil because of Scott Roeder, Timothy McVeigh, the KKK, the Inquisition, etc. So since you admittedly adhere to an evil religion why should anyone pay attention to what you say? And if anyone is in doubt that this is an act of hate then they should listen to what this asshole says…
Buckeye: “Our real difference is you see intimidation, where I see only persuasion.”
I see intimidation when the FBI visits someone that has broken a Federal law and hasn’t declared plans to do so; a person causing the government great consternation by exercizing his right. The FBI does not drop by in such circumstances as a gesture of well-being and support. There was no indication that the wack-job rev. was suspected of anythng illegal for any good cause. Police of any sort in any jusisdiction don’t show up on ones doorstep without an agenda and mission. Yes, I see an attempt at intimidation.
Bob,
Was saying that I’m full of shit and posting that pathetic video the best you could do? Really, Bob, it’s like you’re not even trying… I’ll let anyone interested in deciding whether to place more credibility in your whining hypocrisy or my substantive posts make up their own minds about who’s full of shit, but that video really was sad. First off, it is from that bastion of scientific inquiry, Architects and Engineers for 9/11 truth (pretty cheeky to post something from the group right after I posted a link showing their 10 biggest mistakes, by the way). For those of you that don’t know this is the group led by Richard Gage – the idiot who thinks that cardboard boxes are good structural models of the upper and lower blocks of the WTC. All in all your damming video seemed like a guy who’s probably never done a press conference before speaking badly. Every analysis of the collapse times of all three buildings has been perfectly consistent with gravitational collapses. NIST’s modeling reproduces the observed features of the collapse in WTC 7 very accurately – if you want to allege that WTC 7 was ‘pulled’ 😉 by controlled demolition, then the onus is on you to provide a scenario that fits the observations better (although you apparently failed to learn the concept of ‘burden of proof’ in law school…). You know, you’re reminding me more and more of the birthers – the way you’re trying to parse what some guy said in a press conference in order to make it fit your confirmation bias is just like some of the birthers trying to parse the statements from the Hawaii Department of Health to mean the exact opposite of what they mean on their face. You can say you’re not a truther all day long, but you’re using all of their dishonest tactics and arguments. And that hat you’re wearing is awfully shiny…
We don’t know if this is an act of hate. It may have nothing to do with hate.
Indeed, if there are reprisals, the Pastors statements about Islam (that it is evil) are exactly correct.
Mike A.
Perfectly expressed. Thanks, again.
Buckeye:
“I find it hard to accept that anyone that publicly burns a book, of any kind, is a patriot, though I’m willing to be convinced.”
Lottakatz
I’m of the mind that once in the fray you are compelled to take certain actions for reasons that might have shifted in focus from your original intent. That’s why you shouldn’t get into some situations until you’ve thought about their implications. This fool said he was doing this as a religious protest and he had the right to do it. OK, he should then be true to his God and his country and that responsibility has been magnified by the attention he now has on him.
The Federal government is now, through persuasion and by bringing in the FBI, intimidation to stifle a protected right. If he’s a patriot he must resist. This is his little moment to uphold the Constitution. The public emphasis has shifted and he should have been prepared for that contingency.
…….
We’ll see if this this leader is true to his god or Constitution on Saturday.
———————————————————————————————————————————
I guess I see it a little differently. All you say probably applies to a normal, if naïve, citizen. I may be giving Rev. Jones too little credit (or too much, depending on your view) when I say I doubt he gives a rat’s ass about the constitution as compared to his religious beliefs. He has said that though it would be terrible if people were to be killed after he burns the Korans, including service men, it wouldn’t be his fault, it would be the fault of the killers. This indicates to me that the responsibility for one’s actions necessary for a patriotic gesture, or a principled stand for constitutional rights, are missing here.
He doesn’t seem to be at all intimidated by anyone up to and including the President asking him to not burn any Korans; nor should he be since no one has threatened to stop him, as far as I know. Had they done so, I agree he would have to try to proceed in defiance of the intimidation, to show the world he will not let his rights be curtailed, to be patriotic. If he is basing his actions on his religious beliefs alone, and refuses to spare one thought about either consequences or constitutional rights, patriotism doesn’t count at all.
Our real difference is you see intimidation, where I see only persuasion. If they send in the federal marshals, then it’s a whole new ball game.
My personal opinion (which you may share) is that someone trolled the kook websites and pulled what they thought was an easily manipulated dupe into the national arena. They probably didn’t realize just how much of a loose cannon he would turn out to be – or they might have counted on it; hard to tell. You may have your opinions of who did that and why; I certainly have mine. Our opinions may not agree, of course.
bdaman,
If you keep being useful, you may eventually loose your troll badge. Good work.
