Biting The Hand: Afghan Government To Tax United States Aid

The Washington Post is reporting that the Afghan government is moving to tax U.S. aid to his country — notifying U.S. contractors that the government wants a piece of the aid given . . . to them. The Karzai government is taking this action over the objections of the Administration and conflicting U.S. law. It is also taking this action after Karzai has shutdown corruption investigations against his government. The Karzai family has been denounced as a virtual criminal enterprise with his brothers stealing anything that they can lay their hands on.

Of course, the solution for many of us is simple: end the aid as well as our presence in this country. We continue to have states selling off parks, curtailing school programs, and ending programs due to a lack of money while we burn billions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Karzai has thanked us by repeatedly stating that he would prefer to be with the Taliban and polls show that the U.S. is deeply hated by citizens in both countries despite our loss of thousands of lives.

The Iraqi government stated that it intends to send overdue tax bills to U.S. contractors. Afghan Finance Minister Omar Zakhilwal said that the announcement shows that the Karzai government is “serious against tax evasion.” Not corruption, mind you, but tax evasion. It seems that the key is that everyone must pay into the government so that Karzai family members and friends can then steal the money with impunity.

The unraveling scene in Iraq is another example of a political failure of leadership in this country. Neither the President nor members of Congress are willing to expose themselves politically by demanding a withdrawal of U.S. troops. Instead, we continue to sacrifice the lives of our military and spend hundreds of billions of dollars. Now that contractors are going to be taxed, they are likely to internalize those costs and then pass them on to the taxpayer in future aid contracts.

It is a good thing the Vice President Joe Biden did not stop over to continue his “celebration” over the status in Iraq this month. The large-party gratuity fees for the party would have been a killer.

“But in the end what the hell do I know and who am I to judge.”

LOL. You know a lot. And thanks for responding even though you could have blown me off. And I would blow me of too. lol

    You also said:

“What bothers me the most in your post though is your assumption that because you don’t have any advanced degree that I would think you were stupid.”

Then you went on to discuss your family background. I really appreciate that because I know you understand a little about where I’m coming from. And, of course, you don’t have to understand anything about me.

I do have a chip on my shoulder about this only because of the arrogance of others who have advanced education and how they have treated me (and my beloved spouse) over the years INCLUDING denying advancement in career opportunties despite our being the better candidates than those with degrees.

But I need to be aware that there are those who have fine education and never laud it over others. I SHOULDN’T ASSUME they are all the same.

    My bad.

I understand that governments before Marxism were evil.

Today’s problem with abusive government is more complicated because of technology (and now electronics). It makes government more brutally efficient than ever before in history. Especially when government takes away citizens guns. And taking away citizens’ guns and weapons is what Marxist governments ALWAYS do. And that is why Marxist governments excel at mass-murder more than any other governments known in history, even more than Hitler.

Let me clarify here. I’m talking about governments murdering their OWN citizens. I am not talking about wars (military vs military). And this is why Marxist governments have been worse than Hitler. They devour their own at a higher rate. Which is why I’m very upset that the Democratic Party is Marxist. That means I’m to be served up for supper.

This Marxist combination of the state possessing frightful weaponry (unlike any other time in history) and frightful power (known throughout history) is what makes Marxism worse than any other form of government organization. And all Marxist governments disarm their citizenry.

Of course, our blessed founders and framers saw a foreshadowing of the problem in their time before the industrial revolution and Marxism and they attempted to cut it off any problems, whatever they might be, with the 2nd Amendment.

The reason Obama and the Democrats want to take away our guns is the reason the founders understood: Obama and the Democrats are despots who desire the power whenever they wish to brutally stomp and break the necks of citizens if they don’t comply. This is an old story like you pointed out. But what makes this common historical despotism worse for you and I is the industrial revolution combined with economic Marxism (redistribution by gunpoint).

    May you connect the dots:

    Obama’s Marxist upbringing +
Marxist friends Obama brought with him into government +
Obama’s commitment to Redistribution stated to Joe the Plumber +
    Obama’s Support of High Taxation/Welfare State (Neo-Marxism)+
Obama’s political party, like Marxist states, is anti-gun =

I would be a Marxist if I was taught to be one, hung around with other Marxists, and acted like one. Even if I never said I was one.

If it talks like a duck, waddles, quacks, floats, eats, sleeps, and produces ducklings, it is most certainly a duck.

    Therefore, Obama is a duck!

Here is another video clip that explains why you are frustrated.

By understanding the concepts in this cartoon you will see why your frustration is sensible and a sign that you are a smart cookie.
