Indonesian Muslims Protest Against Man’s Disrespect for Religion By Burning Three Churches

Muslims in Indonesia are outraged by a five-year sentence given a man accused of blasphemy. They wanted death, so they responded by burning three Christian churches. On Sunday (as shown in the graphic video below), three members of a minority Muslim sect were killed by a mob.

On Sunday, roughly 1,000 Muslims attacked members of a minority sect, Ahmadiyah, in Cikeusik village and killed three and injured six others. When the Obama Administration yielded to demands from Arab allies to support the concept of blasphemy prosecutions, many of us were horrified. This is the face of blasphemy prosecutions — little more than mob justice dressed up as legal process. Even when an absurdly long sentence is handed down, it is not enough for the mob.

  1. Civilation is a millimeter thin and aggression thick to the core no matter which civilization.

    mespo – Exactly.

  2. What mespo said.

And I’d like to say the actions of the people in this instance make as much sense as protesting pornography by going to a strip joint.

  3. Timbuktu:

“You would not let a wild beast into your home, why do you in the west allow these people to exist? They think nothing of death and are bent upon destruction.”

    *******************

We do not punish for thought, just action. The radicals are not the first death cult, just the latest. The key to their defeat is people like you who teach their children differently, who speak against them, and who show disapproval in a hundred ways.

We “allow” them to exist because we have no desire to be just like them.

  4. As a Muslim, I am afraid of the radical fringe. They are a culture of death, power and control.

You equate them to Judaism and Christianity at your peril. We, liberal Muslims, are frightened to death of them and their intransigence to modernity. They are nothing like modern Christians and Jews. To think otherwise is madness.

You would not let a wild beast into your home, why do you in the west allow these people to exist? They think nothing of death and are bent upon destruction. They are not liberal, they care not for life on earth, they care not for humanity and they will destroy every thing you hold dear.

You give them power when you equate them to Christians and Jews and think sharia law is equivalent with western law.

You are misguided or delusional to think radical Islam is just another religion, another culture with equal status. Where did you learn such moral cowardice?

  5. mespo,

He is, more than likely, interviewing directors and tweaking the script … and definitely arranging auditions for the female lead … I hope you like red-heads

  6. rafflaw/Blouise:

To quote a kindred spirit, “One lives to be of service.” By the way, we’ve missed Buddha today. I am mildly offended that he offered no criticism for my screenplay comment.

“Mespo, that is a great line at the end. Is that yours?”

For once I can quote myself.
