Coulter Courts? Iran Creates A New Media Court To Jail Journalists

Ann Coulter may have finally found a country with that perfect mix of robust conservative values and restrictions on the free press . Only days after Ann Coulter was met with thunderous applause at CPAC after proclaiming “I think there should be more jailed journalists,” Iranian officials have announced the creation of a new court for media crimes. It is not clear whether the Iranians will name the new tribunals “Coulter courts” but they should be a real crowd pleaser for those who wildly applauded at CPAC.

In the video below, when an audience member asked Coulter about the problem of “jailed journalists” around the world, Coulter responded by saying that she did not view that as a problem and wanted to see more jailed journalists. The only statement that seemed to thrill the crowd as much was the pledge of Newt Gingrich to eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency.

It appears that stoning people under Sharia law is not sufficient. Abbas Zagholi, the head of Iran’s Government Employees Court, said the new judicial branch “was necessitated by the special media crimes . . . For certain reasons, such as great developments in mass media, the Tehran prosecutor felt the need to create a more independent court to deal with media affairs.”

Iran has become a paradise for Coulter with at least 34 journalists detained at the end of last year in Iran. They are now tied with that other Coulteresque society: China. According to the article below, those jailed reporters include Mohammad Davari, editor of the news website Saham News, who was arrested after reporting on the rape and torture of detainees at Kahrizak Detention Center.

Many American conservatives have argued that American journalists should have been criminally charged for revealing the torture of detainees by the Bush Administration and the use of secret prisons. This was the subject of a hearing at the House Intelligence Committee where I testified for media protections, here.

  1. Stamford Liberal,

I have to agree with you … the utter lack of compassion takes my breath away. According to her website she works for “conservative Republican candidates” … of course she does.

  2. Blouise:

I didn’t think I could be as appalled as I was after Mann called the 9/11 widows harpies who were profiting from their husbands deaths. Well, looks like I have a new “winner.”

  3. “Hope you’re enjoying the revolution, Lara! Alhamdilllullah [praise allah].” (Debbie Schlussel) … best example of “Man’s Inhumanity to Man” I’ve read today … in fact the best I’ve read this month

  4. Elaine M.,

I typically laugh off the Islamic boogey-man drivel but I literally had to pick my jaw off of the floor after that segment.

The glee emanating from the above post is positively shocking.

  5. Stamford Liberal,

I was watching “The Last Word” this evening. Some far right-wingers are absolutely hateful, despicable individuals.

  6. Holy sh*t – just saw this on “The Last Word” – I never thought it could happen but this wench makes Mann Coulter look positively radiant and virginal:

*** UPDATE #2: David Horowitz’s Blogger Employees Praised Anti-Semitic, Holocaust-Denying Muslim Death, Rape, and Torture Threats, (But Upset About Lara Logan Column on Islam) ***

*** UPDATE, 02/16/11: The reaction of the left to this article is funny in its predictability. Sooo damn predictable. Of course I don’t support “sexual assault” or violence against Lara Logan, and I said that nowhere here. RIF–Reading Is Fundamental. Your premature articulation is a problem. I did say that it warms my heart when reporters who openly deny that Islam is violent and constantly promote it get the same kinds of threats of violence I get every day from Muslims. Because now they know how it feels. They aren’t so dismissive of the threats when those threats are directed at them, instead of at us little people. And yet they still won’t admit that THIS. IS. ISLAM. Lara Logan was among the chief cheerleaders of this “revolution” by animals. Now she knows what Islamic revolution is really all about.

I’ve received many moronic insults and threats of violence from the left in the hours since I posted this, showing me more and more that there is very little difference between the left and the dominant, violent, fanatical forces in Islam. In fact, there’s really no difference at all. My favorite part of all of the responses is their common claim that the “real rapists” of the world are white males and American soldiers. Uh-uh, you keep telling yourself that, as you live here under the protection of American soldiers. Riiiight–It’s not Muslims who don’t respect women and treat them as baby factories, sex toys, and property. It’s America and the West. You keep tellin’ yourself that, morons.****

As I’ve noted before, it bothers me not a lick when mainstream media reporters who keep telling us Muslims and Islam are peaceful get a taste of just how “peaceful” Muslims and Islam really are. In fact, it kinda warms my heart. Still, it’s also a great reminder of just how “civilized” these “people” (or, as I like to call them in Arabic, “Bahai’im” [Animals]) are:

Alhamdillullah [Praise allah], Islam Fan Lara Logan Gets a Taste of Islam

On Friday February 11, the day Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a “60 Minutes” story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.

In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently in the hospital recovering.

Hey, sounds like the threats I get from American Muslims on a regular basis. Now you know what it’s like, Lara.

There will be no further comment from CBS News and Correspondent Logan and her family respectfully request privacy at this time.

I just love it when the people of the profession of “the public’s right to know” suddenly want “privacy.” Tell it to your next interview subject, Lara. Of course CBS has no further comment. Wouldn’t wanna impugn the “peacefulness” of “Religion of Peace” animals, would we? Now, if they were Christians or Jews, well, then there would be comments galore.

So sad, too bad, Lara. No one told her to go there. She knew the risks. And she should have known what Islam is all about. Now she knows. Or so we’d hope. But in the case of the media vis-a-vis Islam, that’s a hope that’s generally unanswered.

This never happened to her or any other mainstream media reporter when Mubarak was allowed to treat his country of savages in the only way they can be controlled.

Now that’s all gone. How fitting that Lara Logan was “liberated” by Muslims in Liberation Square while she was gushing over the other part of the “liberation.”

Hope you’re enjoying the revolution, Lara! Alhamdilllullah [praise allah].

I found it interesting that in her Update, she claims she doesn’t “support” the assault against Lara Logan. But, after reading what is posted below the update, it appears to me that she is doing just that …

  7. Where is that crazy Tootie? I laugh my fat trailer park trash ass off when she posts.

  8. from eniobob’s link above:

“In that regard, there is one comment Coulter made at CPAC with which I wholeheartedly agree. That was when she told the mostly young audience, “Don’t go to law school.”

    Good advice.

You might be ruined for life and end up sounding like a complete idiot years later.

    Like Ann Coulter.”

    Thanks for the laugh.

  9. wow that was hard hitting journalism. Lets see, three books and three mistakes and not all that big if you ask me.

I know you all need a sacred cow to gore, but at least have one that has some meat on it.

    Very funny stuff.

  10. I think it could only be clarified by the interviewer how narrow his interpretation was regarding the fact….and Ms. Coulter may simply have lucked out in this instance…I still wouldn’t trust her information given the supposed plagiarism and other nonsense she spews…

  11. I believe those troops sent by the Canadian government were part of a peace-keeping mission. They weren’t sent to fight a war.

  12. Elaine:

all troops are fighting troops. There is always the possibility of engagement with enemy forces when in a war zone.

The troops sent were in fact members of the Canadian armed forces. Which if I am correct are trained to fight. Therefore they are fighting forces. That they did not fight in combat is a blessing for them.

He meant exactly what he meant, he had a chance to clarify when Coulter questioned him not once but 2 or more times.
