All you Christian warriors out there best make ready for battle! Sean Hannity and the Catholic League’s Bill Donohue are now claiming that there is a war on Easter. “Oh no!” you say. “Who would do such a thing?” Why, Lady Gaga, comedian Ricky Gervais, and a few other dastardly demons—that’s who.
I even heard it through the grapevine that the CEO of Easter Bunnies, Inc., is hopping mad. I was told that he’s organized his bunny brigade and worked in co-operation with the president of Hatchling Chicks Corporation to devise a plan to go after anti-Easterites like Lady Gaga and Gervais.
Get your trebuchets ready! I’ll bring eggs. We’re planning to meet in Mister MacGregor’s garden tomorrow at the first light of dawn. We’ll shell the hard-boiled enemies of Easter ova and ova again until they surrender. They won’t know what hit them.
Are you ready to join me and my fellow warriors?

Will you go on record and say there are no Connecticut drivers driving illegally?
Dingleberry,
Lmao – You are such a dope. Nice try at attempting to move the goal post … sadly for you, the post hasn’t moved a milimeter.
Driving illegally in an unregistered and uninsured car does not change the fact that in order to either register one’s vehicle in CT or re-registering one’s vehicle in CT, proof of insurance by both the consumer and the insurance company and proof of all motor vehicle taxes being paid-in-full and current by the DoR.
“We also know that the police do not always give tickets either.”
No, “we” don’t, piss ant.

We also know that the police do not always give tickets either.

No, but if one has a broken tail light, is speeding, driving recklessly, etc., etc., etc., they’ll get pulled over … AND … ever hear of public parking, meter maids and traffic cops?
This statement shows not ALL get caught!!
Dingleberry,
Where did I say that? Please, fruit loop, point it out for me …
Stamford Liberal
Your own words admit that people do get away with not paying. That has been my point all along.
Dingleberry,
“Nothing unless a cop pulls them over for something else. Do you honestly believe the police are pulling everyone over for expired registrations?”
No, but if one has a broken tail light, is speeding, driving recklessly, etc., etc., etc., they’ll get pulled over … AND … ever hear of public parking, meter maids and traffic cops?
Jim,
With all due respect, the Ryan plan does not address anything except keeping rich people rich and the middle class and poor even poorer. If he was truly trying to reduce the debt in a sound way, he would have gone the route of the Peoples Budget that reduces the deficit about 20 years earlier. Ryan won’t do that because he would have to raise taxes, and reduce the military budget and go to a public option health care plan. Now doing that would be courageous.
pete,
Here’s another excerpt from the Think Progress post that I linked to in my previous comment:
“Contrary to the claims of Jeffress and Doocy, official presidential proclamations regarding Easter aren’t very common. Former President George W. Bush often released statements regarding Easter but, according to a database search, never issued an official proclamation on the holiday. Neither did George H.W. Bush. Nor Ronald Reagan.
“As for Muslim holidays, Obama has indeed offered statements marking the beginning of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month. But he hasn’t issued official proclamations regarding the holiday. And while Obama has hosted dinners celebrating Ramadan, they are a continuation of the tradition started by George W. Bush, who hosted eight Ramadan dinners during his presidency.”

i was just wondering what an Official Easter Proclamation would be.

Fox & Friends Hosts Inflammatory Pastor To Fan Flames Of Obama’s Mythical War On Easter
Think Progress, 4/26/2011
By Travis Waldron
http://thinkprogress.org/2011/04/26/fox-war-on-easter-myth/
Excerpt:
Conservatives have long asserted that secular American society is waging an ongoing war on the Christian faith, and in particular, its two most recognized holidays: Christmas and Easter. The claims are predictable and stale and, more often than not, pass without much notice. But over the past two days, conservative outlets have trumpeted the idea that President Obama has a vendetta against Easter, a claim so outrageous that White House Press Secretary Jay Carney laughed when he was asked about it Monday.
Despite the fact that Obama hosted an Easter prayer breakfast last week, attended a Christian church service on Sunday morning, and hosted the annual White House Easter Egg Roll yesterday, conservatives are complaining that Obama chooses to recognize Islamic holidays while ignoring Christianity. Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy was on the case, welcoming inflammatory pastor Richard Jeffress on the show to make the veiled suggestion that Obama is a closeted Muslim who poses a very real threat to American Christians:
DOOCY: What do you think about the fact that this White House has never issued an official proclamation regarding Easter, which is one of Christianity’s most sacred holidays?
JEFFRESS: Steve, let’s look at what’s really going on here. On the one hand, we have a president who never met a Muslim holiday he didn’t like, or at least wasn’t willing to issue a proclamation for, and on the other hand, here he is refusing to acknowledge publicly the most important event in Christian faith, the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and yet the White House is wondering why do 20 percent of Americans believe the president is a Muslim? Well as my kids would say, ‘Duh.’ I mean, it’s actions like these that really make people wonder what it is the president really believes.

one of the problems is that too many republicans have signed grover norquist’s americans for tax reform pledge not to raise taxes. they view a tax increase as anything as simple as closing a tax loophole and they will go after anyone they see as having broken their blanket pledge.
it’s easy to use minorites or people who are here unlawfully as scapegoats because the only time most people see them is when they make the news. when was the last time you saw a good story on the tv news about someone here unlawfully who helped people out of a burning building or away from an auto accident? it does happen but when one runs into another car and kills someone it makes better news and will most likely to get picked up by a 24/hr cable news and go national. (coughfoxnewscoughcough)
that the driver was half asleep from working double shifts at a chicken plant for less than minimum wage doesn’t quite make it into the story.
or that the only time they get to see any inner city youths are on maury povich’s “who’s the daddy” shows.
i hate to say it but my mother thinks that in canada people with appendicitus have to wait two months for an operation and that people from mexico only come here for the free healthcare.
simple facts like canadians live longer because of their healthcare or that many people who live near the mexican boarder go there for dental work don’t make the 5 o’clock news or get talked about after church.
i’ve seen at some right wing news sites that the reason gas prices are so high is because democrats and their fake global warming. that the facts on that subject are very scarce doesn’t seem to matter, because facts don’t make good conversation when you want to bitch about something.
Jim, the problem of Social Security and Medicare has been addressed repeatedly. The program is NOT insolvent and at present funding practices, will be solvent for decades to come. Right now there is a cap on investment where a worker pays so much, but it is capped. Earn over the cap limit and you do not have to pay any more that year. Those people are best described as “high income earners.” There is no logical reason for that earning cap to remain. Take that off and the payments from high wage earners continue no matter what their income. Remove the cap and the system is solvent into the future, over the horizon line, economically speaking.
This year of 2011, the cap is $106,800. Make more than that and you no longer pay into the system. With the expanding number of millionaires and billionaires, there will be many earners who match the cap their first day at work, the first day of the year. After paying Social Security taxes on January 2, they do not have to pay any more. But the folks who work for that rich guy will never reach that cap so will have payroll deductions on their paycheck every day of the year.
Remove the cap and the system is fixed. That is simpler and cleaner than any Republican plan floated to date. And fairer. Let the well to do and the rich pay their proportional share.

Thank you for at least being respectful and I am sorry if I misunderstood your point on open border. My frustration is that we as a country never solve problems and when an idea comes up that may be drastic it gets ridiculed even though it actually will solve the problem.
Take for instance the Ryan plan, it may not be perfect but it at least deals with a problem. Everyone knows it will not hurt medicare for those 55 and older but look at all the spin doctors state it will end medicare and hurt old people. They never mention the age fact. They also never offer an alternative. How can we be unified in solving problems if we also criticize those we disagree with and misrepresent what they actually are saying. I am sorry if I have acted in this fashion towards your comments as that was never my intention. Hopefully, we will be able to have a civil discussion going forward on the most troubling issues of our time.
OS,
You are spot on. Thinking is not their forte!
Buddha, do not give Jim any orange juice. He would just sit and stare at it because it says, “Concentrate,” on the side. :-/
These folks seem to keep their reasoning abilities in a logic-tight compartment. Actually, some brain imaging studies just came out that show conservatives view the world in a simplistic manner, which at least partly explains their “bumper sticker” philosophies. The imaging studies indicate that ambiguity and complexity in reasoning throws them for a loop, cognitively speaking.
No, Jim.
I wasn’t adding “that we should have open borders as a way to avoid what illegal immigrants are doing”. You don’t know what I think about immigration, only that living near the border didn’t change my views to yours. My view of the border/immigration issue is quite a bit more sophisticated than yours and I’m not going to waste my time trying to explain it to you – the logically and factually challenged.
I was making the point that Jesus would open the borders – not that I would open the borders – because all people are children of God. You asked WWJD? I answered based on what I understand of the compassionate and loving nature of Jesus. If you didn’t like the answer? That would be your problem. One among many I might add.
“My” solution is not realistic and stupid? Eh, don’t think so. Because that’s not my premise or my solution you are talking about there, sport.
But you feel free to call Jesus unrealistic and stupid all you like.
I’m sure He’ll forgive you.
Buddha Is Laughing
You were making the point that because we have a law then it should be followed. I merely added to your argument that illegal immigrants by their presence are breaking the law and therefore should be sent back. You added that we should have open borders as a way to avoid what illegal immigrants are doing. Having lived all of my life on the border I know what an open door policy will do to our schools, hospitals, etc. It will crumble this nation to its knees and we will be no different than third world nations.
Right now it is very difficult to find a doctor who will take new patients. Can you imagine what would happen if we open our borders. With the current violence in Mexico millions, not thousands, will flood to this country not to mention the millions from other countries as well. Your solution is not realistic and is actually quite stupid.
Mike A.,
Of course the social compact is more than a mutual non-aggression pact. It’s a mutual cooperation pact and a mutual defense pact as well. To get back to basics. 😉
Jim,
Now you’re just engaged in full on free form lunacy.
What I said at 6:35 was:
“‘If I am not mistaken all people have access to education in this country..’ – Yes. Some more so than others.
‘Anybody can go to the hospital and the hospital can’t turn them away.’ – Yes, but only in emergencies and in the case of pregnancy.
And what to these two facts have in common?
They are both mandated by law.”
The only thing I said about opening the borders is that it is what Jesus would do, not that it was the law.
“Read Matthew chapter 20”
I’ve not only read it, I understand it, which is more than you can say.
And this?
“It doesn’t matter when one gets saved for tall saved will inherit the kingdom of God. The economic principle however that a man can do whatever belongs to him is not true in our country.”
This is what is known as argument by non-sequitur. It is a logical fallacy. One statement has nothing to do with the other nor anything to do with the preceding statements. As to the second sentence is nonsense unless you are talking about copulating with your property.
You really should get out of the prosperity theology church basement for some fresh air once in awhile.
By the way, I’m still awaiting that Constitutional ass-whooping you think you can administer as well.
If it’s on par with the theological argumentation, I’m going to be laughing my ass off.
It’ll do ya good.
