Beck Travels to Jerusalem To Denounce Human Rights Organizations

Glenn Beck has brought his unique message to Israel as part of his “Restoring Courage” world tour. The born-again Mormon and former Fox anchor addressed a huge group of American Evangelical and Israelis in Jerusalem under the shadow of dome of the al-Aqsa mosque to denounce the United Nations, Arabs, and human rights organizations. That’s right, human rights organizations.

Beck calmly explained “Whatever we’ve grown to think is solid and strong and durable is under siege. The threats are mounting. The evil is growing. Darkness is falling.” It is not clear if he added to remember to tip the wait staff and stop by the gift shop on your way out.

It is of course human rights organization that have caused much of this problem by criticizing Israel, according to Beck, and his followers must fight these organizations as a matter of faith. He warned “so-called leaders are talking about human rights. But what they do is abuse the very meaning of this phrase. They condemn tiny Israel, democratic Israel, free Israel – Israel which values human life above all others.”

The words electrified his followers, including Michael Novatka, a born-again Christian and “self-proclaimed Jew” from Florida who insisted that “Glenn Beck tells the truth, but the rest of the world doesn’t want to hear it.” True, Michael, so true.

  1. Raff, I remember reading that Beck was ordained by the Universal Life Church. That is an online ordination site. All you have to do is fill out a form and click the enter key. They sell diplomas, certificates and the like as well as some of the appurtenances of a minister or church. This is the link to their web site.

  2. rafflaw:

a partisan preacher can be secular.

I dont know if it is a sin but is sure is a pain in the ass to keep all your lies straight. So better just to tell the truth or say nothing.

I think Beck is an interesting study. I truly think he thinks he is on a mission from God but I dont think he is from Chicago.

  3. i’d like to see the headline “Humanity denounces Glenn Beck”.

as far as jews for jesus i think bob dylan went through that phase in the late 70’s.

  4. rafflaw:

for the same reason people listen to any partisan preacher. They identify with the message.

  5. Mike Spindell:

Then I guess she was wrong, Aristotle did not come up with the law of identity per se but he did say “a thing is itself”.

    Which is A = A.

    we all have are failings.

  6. Roco,

Rand attributed A=A to Aristotle at the opening of “Atlas Shrugged”.

  7. Mike Spindell:

    apologies for being off topic.

Just to enlighten you a little bit:

“. It was Medieval logicians in the Aristotelian tradition who got to the Law of Identity, with credit usually being given to Antonius Andreas. I thought Andreas had come up with the formula “A is A” but I did a quick check with Wikipedia, which reports that Andreas said “Every being is a being” (Omne Ens est Ens). It says that Leibniz originated the symbolic form: “A is A.” ”

So Ayn Rand didnt invent that. Just thought you might like to know the origins.

  8. No way I’m going to defend Beck, who seems to be the embodiment of Poe’s Law meets Paddy Chayefsky but FWIW David Bernstein at the Volokh Conspiracy regularly documents the hypocrisy and bias of Human Rights Watch with regards to Israel.

  9. “The truth is that in any nation a distinction must be made between that part of the population entitled to human rights and that part to whom such rights must not and can not be extended” —

    Isn’t that called capitalism?

  10. “I told them “You can be a Jew or you can be for Jesus, you cannot be for both.”

    Carol,

I admire your perception and respect your belief.

  11. I am Jewish by ethnicity, christian by Faith. When I lived in NY I would be accosted by Jews For Jesus trying to convince me that I should agree with them (at that time I had not yet made my conversion) and join their cause. I told them “You can be a Jew or you can be for Jesus, you cannot be for both.” I guess “Michael Novatka, a born-again Christian and “self-proclaimed Jew” has proven me wrong.

  12. “The words electrified his followers, including Michael Novatka, a born-again Christian and “self-proclaimed Jew” from Florida who insisted that “Glenn Beck tells the truth, but the rest of the world doesn’t want to hear it.” True, Michael, so true.”

Someone is ethnically Jewish if born to a Jewish mother. However, one cannot be religiously Jewish and a Born Again Christian, this is an impossibility no mater how much groups like Jews for Jesus state
    otherwise.

    From one cited article:

“Beck stood in sharp contrast to the casual attire of his overwhelmingly white American Christian audience, many of whose baseball caps and T-shirts denoted their state of origin, their church or their adherence to the US Tea Party movement. But the surprising number of empty seats belied the organisers’ claims that demand for tickets had outstripped availability at the 2,000-capacity Davidson Centre.”

Beck has received considerable publicity for this despite not being able to fill out a 2,000 seat venue with Israeli’s and if he couldn’t do that, why is this visit of importance? Nevertheless, there are human rights violation extant in Israel, pushed lately by the stupidity of the Netanyahu government. The only solution is the end/dismantlement of the settlements in the West Bank and their return to a Palestinian State.

As far as Beck the devout Mormon goes, the LDS’s secret baptisms of Jews who died in the Shoah is evidence enough for their “high” regard for Jews. From my perspective it is a disgusting act that dishonors the memory of millions who died innocently and an indication of the fanaticism of LDS. It may well be my prejudice, but it is why I personally could never vote for Romney or Huntsman for President.

  13. First: how the hell can you be a “born again Christian” and a Jew?
Second: edited for truth; “Glenn Beck has brought his ugly message to Israel as part of his “Restoring Outrage and Ignorance” world tour. The born-again Moron and former Fox anchor . . .”
Third: The pictures I saw showed a largely empty venue – many more empty seats than people
Forth: If Beck & his mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging troglodytes really thought we were in danger of being over run by the coloreds & heathens they would be working to reinforce human rights groups so as to protect themselves from these evil invaders.

  14. Beck is right, human rights are a serious problem, Lucifer and his senior devils spent countless demon years dreaming up the concept and are now rolling on the floor of hell laughing at the trouble they cause for the righteous such as the Americans and Israelis. The problem is that stupid people mistakenly extend human rights to God’s stepchildren, that is members of species homo sapiens sapiens that are not human in the sense of being entitled to human rights. Other phrases that may replace God’s stepchildren are “torturables”, “expendables” and “unpeople”.

The truth is that in any nation a distinction must be made between that part of the population entitled to human rights and that part to whom such rights must not and can not be extended. There are many people who forfeit the right to human rights because the elite need to use technical breaches of such rights to prevent them getting uppity or because they oppose the righteous political order or simply because their presence is an inconvenience to advancing the interests of those who are entitled to have their interests advanced.
