Egyptian Party Leader: “I Am the Enemy of Democracy”

With Libya now moving to a Sharia-based system that will impose religious values on the population, Egypt is also rapidly moving toward an extreme Sharia based system. Indeed, Hesham al Ashry (the leader of the Salafists) announced this week that “I am the enemy of democracy.”

Businessman Naguib Sawiris now calls Egypt’s future “dim … bad.”

Al Ashry put the reality into perspective: “This is a big opportunity and it’s not going to go back. This was mentioned by the Prophet Mohammed. Peace be upon him. He said this was going to happen.” Thus, the freedom that led to the overthrow of Mubarak regime will now be extinguished to embrace a new form of oppression — just faith-based rather than tyrant-based repression.

One of the objections made to the intervention of the United States in Libya was that, in addition to the absence of any declaration from Congress, President Obama could bring bring about a more radical regime. Even at the time, Libyan rebels were known to have extremist elements, including some linked to Al Qaeda. Some of the same concerns were heard in our Egyptian policies. I am less critical of the Obama policy on Libya. Indeed, I thought the Administration struck the right tone — without military intervention. However, there is a general misconception that the “Arab Spring” necessarily means a triumph of democracy and human rights. Movements in both Libya and Egypt show the powerful pull of theocratic oppression. The denial of the separation of mosque and state (as well as religious freedom) undermines a host of other rights from free speech to free association. The Obama Administration undermined those rights further with its shocking support of a United Nation’s resolution that embraced the concept of blasphemy prosecutions.

With the move to Sharia law, Egypt is showing other signs of extremism. Sectarian violence, particularly against Christians, has increased with little intervention from the military.

The loss of Egypt to religious extremism would be extremely destabilizing for the regime. It will also raise a question of our continued massive support for the country. Even though we have cities and states breaking under economic pressures, we are still pouring billions in aid to both Israel and Egypt.

  1. Bron,

“you make more than me and Bdaman combined and I drive a Ford, I dont have a European luxury car like you do.”

And you know this how, exactly? You don’t. It’s pure supposition.

“Well you still havent told us what laws have been broken, I can call you a criminal but that doesnt mean you broke any laws.”

I pointed you to the widespread fraud at the heart of the matter and Elaine’s excellent article on said fraud. There is also the indications of racketeering and collusion with government officials in both avoiding prosecution and passing off the costs of private risk to the public. That you’re too busy apologizing for the criminals to see that is entirely your problem. If you want to get educated on the matter, I’d normally say do the reading yourself, but in your particular case, reading without comprehension is the norm.

“I got news for you, I want to see those assholes frog marched probably worse than you do but what laws did they break?”

Really? Then you should really quit defending them against those calling for justice by hiding behind the false flag of “individual liberty”. Your actions belie your words.

  2. Gene H:

you make more than me and Bdaman combined and I drive a Ford, I dont have a European luxury car like you do.

So if people vote to end welfare and create debtors prisons and make abortion illegal, you are all for it as long as 51% vote for it?

Well you still havent told us what laws have been broken, I can call you a criminal but that doesnt mean you broke any laws. I think your morality criminal but I cant throw you in jail for it.

So tell us what specific laws have been broken? there are thousands of pages of banking regulations show us which laws have been broken.

Please site the section and the specific laws, hell just give me one or 2. You are a lawyer this should be easy for you.

I got news for you, I want to see those assholes frog marched probably worse than you do but what laws did they break?

  3. Thanks for the correction Bron

Gene, I Am the Enemy of Liberty

    Hows that Bron? Better ?

Whats a little rape among friends right. It’s for the greater good.

  4. Too bad for you two I’m not for what you are for which is apparently the liberty to be a criminal and go unpunished simply because you’re rich.

  5. Bdaman:

You are wrong, Gene is the friend of democracy. He is the enemy of liberty. He would be willing to let 51% of the people subjugate the other 49% if it was by vote. Screw the Constitution and the limitations on government as long as 51% say yes to subjugation.

  6. Now bark at the bad protesters demanding justice

There you go again Gene. I’m barking at the ones who are committing the injustices that deprive one’s individual right to the pursuit of happiness.

Need to correct the title to the post.

From: Egyptian Party Leader: “I Am the Enemy of Democracy”

To: Gene. I Am the Enemy of Democracy

There, that’s more like it. I know, I know.

    It’s for the greater good

  7. Bdaman:

did you take a no interest mortgage or one with a balloon payment? No, I didnt either. I know a bunch of people who did though and they were in the top 20% of wage earners easily and should have known better.

I have also heard of a good many speculators who were not professionals get burned really badly but they were also in the top 20% of wage earners.

I dont know what the exact stats are but I kinda think the majority of people who lost their ass were not poor ignorant people taken advantage of by banks. Sure there were some but I bet the most people who got screwed where middle and upper middle class people who over extended themselves and made the mistake that this bubble would go on forever.

Sometimes being a Randy has its benefits, like knowing when the fed is fucking with interest rates and knowing that there are no free lunches and knowing that you dont know enough about derivatives and all that other high falutin financial stuff to take a risk on speculating with your home.

Yeah, greed is bad in some cases. Like when you are too ignorant of the market to know you dont know shit about it.

I wonder how many people who lost their ass were making over $50,000 per year?

One other thing, did you get a second mortgage for 50% or more of the equity you had in your home? Neither did I.

Between Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, the Federal Reserve, dumb ass housing speculators and Wall St., what is a person to do?

  8. Deflecting?

No, no, no, what you’re doing is called “projecting” when you talk about me deflecting, Bdaman!

I am talking about everyday people . . . millions of them that are being deprived of justice every day that the Wall Street criminals walk free and are allowed to keep their ill-gotten gains.

You are deflecting from the very real injustice perpetrated against millions of everyday people by Wall Street criminals when you try to blame OWS instead of Wall Street for the protests and the ancillary consequences of protests, ancillary consequences that are being largely created and encouraged by law enforcement at the behest of said Wall Street criminals. Absent the crimes committed by Wall Street and aided and abetted by Washington, the OWS people would have no reason at all to be protesting.

You should go on blaming the millions victims for the unpunished crimes of a few instead of the perpetrators responsible for the protests being necessary in the first place: Wall Street and their Washington co-horts.

You make a great pet! A very obedient lap dog. Now bark at the bad protesters demanding justice again after Mommy Botox and Daddy Warbucks have stolen their money, jobs and homes! That’s a good lil’ schnookums!

If you’re a good doggy, we’ll feed you a poor person later.

  9. That this goal upsets you so much says a lot more about you than it does about them.

Gene there you go deflecting again. Find me one comment where i’ve said anything to defend the bankers.

Again I’m talking about the impact on EVERYDAY PEOPLE.

  10. OWS has had a terrible problem getting the police to respond to crime in the park. When they call 911, the operator has hung up on them when they mention the address.

Also, the NYPD has been sending all the drunk, homeless and mentally ill street people they encounter daily to “take it over to Zuccotti Park”.

So, the police are sending unstable people over to the park, then for a week or so they all went underground- which meant there was NO uniformed presence except for the ‘Sky cam’.

The NYPD know what they are doing. They are definitely up to no good, not serving and protecting, they are trying to cause problems in the park. I would not be surprised if the ‘rapists’ were people that the police themselves directed to go to the park.

  11. “You guys demonized the Tea Party for assembly and the protest of injustices that cost millions of people their jobs and/or homes. ”

I don’t know which “you guys” you are referring to, but personally, I demonized the Tea Party for being a bunch of know-nothing corporate dupes and general tools playing into the hands of the Koch Brothers and Dick Armey who were working against their own best interests because they were and are easily manipulated due to their very lack of knowledge.

“Keep your government off of my Medicare!”

    That about sums it up.

Unlike OWS, who despite lacking a defined set of principles do have a common goal that is both just and informed.

They want the Wall Street criminals who broke the economy to go to prison and lose their ill-gotten fortunes just like any common thief would.

That this goal upsets you so much says a lot more about you than it does about them.

  12. Bron here’s an exchange between two OWS protesters frustrated becasue they have no direction and no goals.

Fuck me, Fuck you, Fuck me? I’ll show ya, bend over. Hey get a hold of him and hold him down. As he whispers this is gonna hurt you alot more than it hurts me. Just remember, it’s for the greater good.

  13. That is of course Obama doesn’t try to cancel the elections because of mass chaos in the streets that you probably will support because it’s for the greater good.

  14. You guys demonized the Tea Party for assembly and the protest of injustices that cost millions of people their jobs and/or homes. Absolutely hilarious. Funny thing is I don’t remember anybody being raped or fucked in the ass at a T Party event. I do remember the results of the 2010 election cycle. I wonder whats gonna happen in 2012. It’s looking like Herman Cain will end up being president. I can’t wait to call all of you a bunch of racist for not agreeing with his policies.

  15. Bron, “it is all for the greater good, what is a few sore ass holes to changing the system?”

LOL, my thoughts exactly. But we’re probably still not on the same wavelength, context wise. 🙂
