Lawsuit: Architect In Diabetic Shock Beaten By Multiple Officers, Pepper Sprayed, and Repeatedly Tasered Before Dying

A disturbing lawsuit has been filed against the Baltimore County Police Department by Linda Johnson over the death of her husband, Architect Carl D. Johnson on May 27, 2010. Johnson was pepper sprayed, tasered, and beaten before his death on the way home from Bible study class.

Linda Johnson is suing the Maryland State Police, Baltimore County Police, individual commanders and six officers. Her lawsuit claims that her husband suffered a diabetic attack after calling a friend and crashing on I-795. First to the scene was State Trooper Davon Parker who pepper sprayed Johnson after he lowered his window of his car, which had crashed into the median. When Johnson got out of the car, Parker clubbed him on the knee and then allegedly another officer (Loss) clubbed him. When Baltimore County Police Officer Nicholas Wolferman arrived, he also allegedly beat Johnson. Three more officers arrived and one, Baltimore County Officer Andrew O’Neill tasered Johnson twice. Officer Loss then allegedly punched him in the face. Eight more officers then arrived — leaving one wondering if there were any officers left at headquarters. The complaint states that “there were approximately 52 individuals that responded to the scene.”

We have been following cases involving the use of tasers and excessive force by police. However, Baltimore has been cited as a standout jurisdiction in the use of tasers — leading to calls for investigation.

Johnson was only 48 and lives behind his wife of 27 years. Their son, Darren Johnson, predeceased his parents and Linda has now lost her husband.

  1. i seriously hope this never happens to a friend or family member, mostly a family member , i wouldnt care about a settlement, i would respectfully tell the judge i dont want to press charges, because i will be heading to jail in a day or so, i really dont know how local comunities dont just firebomb the crap out of police force that allow this crap to happen is it really that hard to fill a bottle and light it on fire 42 cars on fire makes for a great show and yes i advocate violence, why not thats what my government teaches me everyday, or you can follow the way they want you to, have them break into your house, beat you, rape molest wife/ kids, shoot dogs, plant drugs/evidence, beat the crap out of victims who were the one that CALLED the police, raid houses destroy property with out warrants, invade and destroy property , on the wrong properties!!!!! i really dont understand this crap, suspended with pay, um WTF is wrong w this country and its people, 200 years ago we went to war for 1 taxes, a stamp tax on everything, 2 no right to print money 3 unfair trade regulations 4 boston masacre
LOOK AT THIS STEAMING PILE OF A COUNTRY AND TELL ME SOMETHING IS NOT WRONG!!!

  3. This is how the people rise up. Injustice. Watch V for Vendetta. It portrayed such a beating incident in an oppressive enviroment of a tyrannical government.

It’s coming folks – AND ‘THEY’ know it. It’s why DHS purchased 450 million hollow tip bullets. 320 million bullets at one for each American, and a few to spare for armed Citizens who dare fire back. Of course, they’ll hunt you with drones for those that think they can run.

Do nothing America? This is what you get for watching football as your Constitutional rights were stripped. Not me you say? Are you one of those who raises their hands in an act of surrender at airport body scanners in contravention of your fourth amendment.

If you’re not angry yet, you deserve what’s coming.

  4. AmicusBrief, you’re right. Which NJ town fired its police force? What had triggered [pun intended] that action? I’m really very interested. I’m from NJ. I have unfortunately learned that whereas we are very dependent upon police, we have a very scary thing going on in which going to the police is a roll of the dice. You can get help and you can also get the most astonishing “anti-help” imaginable. They even sometimes find out about illegal behavior and jump in to assist lawbreakers streamline their operations! Then it sounds so counter-intuitive that nobody believes it’s happening. It can provide a real shock to your system!

  5. It is a clearly established pattern of behavior by police officers nationwide. It reeks of summary public torture and summary execution. Remedies include firing your town’s police force. A New Jersey town did it and saw their crime reduced by 60%. Bankrupt Taser, Inc. and another will manifest overnight to replace it. The end result of violent police action is zero credibility of ‘law enforcement’. The true number of innocents killed by police nationwide is an unknown figure. If known, this statistic would, by itself, gut most PDs.

  6. Kenzob — why are you trying to wake up others?

You’re already awake — get your evidence together, give it to the plaintiff in this lawsuit and SUE ISRAEL, that will really get their attention!

Damn, when you have something actionable like that, don’t hang around flapping your jaws; USE IT!

  7. This is what happens when you have the ADL and Mossad training your police departments. The more alien influence these Zionist thugs have on our police departments, the more violent and militaristic they will become. Don’t believe me? Just Google “ADL trains American Police departments”. And Google the same for Mossad. See for yourself! Wake up!!

  8. When ANYONE is Above the Law then there IS NO LAW – I am so sick of people asking “WHY CAN’T WE hold these offenders responsible? etc.. There is now clearly only ONE WAY to hold them responsible and it’s called STREET JUSTICE – What else IS there? Ans. NOTHING….It HAS come to that…In Indiana they just passed a Law allowing people to use guns against unannounced, unwarrented Break-ins by Police – well DUH – of COURSE – and now it has come TIME for people on the Street to Get Involved when they see Police acting in an Unlawful Manner….Preservation of Life in the face of Great Evil on the part of Paid Public Service Officials (the new SS) is now neceSSary..

  9. another example of the usa and their brutal stalin-like police. the usa is guilty of civil rights abuses that are more serious than what goes on in mexican jails or china. we expect this to happen there but not in the usa. the police are totally corrupt as is the usa govt , the TSA , the DHS. these people need to stand trial and should be thrown in jail for their crimes

  10. How do we know if the information that the wife gave is true. People automatically jump on the cops if there is any hint of violence. There are two sides to every story and the truth will come out in the end.

  11. Welcome to the new Amerika……..you wanted it?, by doing nothing, you got it.

” The power that they have is the one that you gave them”

  12. All law enforcement who use tazers are under the wrath of God_they reap what they sow.
They all will be punished to the max by a holy God.
There is no excuse for their behavior, and they have judgement
upon their souls to look forward to. They all better flee those
jobs, or else judgement is COMING upon them and theirs.

  13. People of the county can assemble their own lawful grand jury, conduct an investigation and issue indictments for first degree murder! Yes the people of the county can reallty do that!

  14. There’s 56 cops who should be glad it’s only a lawsuit, and not the beginning of a real shooting civil war.

  15. the few “good” officers are Under The Onus of ALL the ‘Bad’ ones and ARE (Ineffectual) in Changing Anything Anytime Soon !

  16. Truth is the Elite regard the Police as a dumb tool, they have to be dumber and blunter than the people they police.
If the police had the ability to think with any degree of finesse, they would see that they really are just a bunch of unthinking lickspittle lackeys of the PTB.
You have to be stupid to want to be a police officer in the modern police force, maybe some people are driven to “Create a better society”, the moment they cover up just one incident of wrongdoing by another officer, they become WORSE than the other criminals on the street.

Poor woman, i am no longer shocked by the brutality of police officers, i have come to expect it.
They are not capable of doing their jobs in the way it should be done, i.e, conscientiously, without malice, without personal feelings getting involved.
The moment a policeman thinks you are not respecting my authoritayyyy, personal feelings of malice all to often quickly surface as aggression and indifference.

I know there might be a few good officers int he police, and to them i have the greatest respect, but, i think i am being honest when i say, Most of them are little more than scumbags with a badge.

  17. Hey pistolpackinmedic,

Having been a paramedic, including handling drunks and people in seizures, the only time when any violence is justified is when in self-protection.
In any event, we used restraints, not weapons to control violent people. Wrapping a person in a blanket, and rolling them, effectively reduces any resistance. (We certainly did not call the police to help)

The current police are “high” on their Adrenaline and Steroids. The first response is always to escalate the confrontation, to enforce “humiliating compliance”, even when the individual cannot hear, understand or comprehend the police.Their non-accountability allows them to live out their violent psychotic phantasies.

I feel really sorry for Americans.

  18. I am not a proponet of the TASER or of law enforcement violence but being a paramedic for a major city for the last 20 some odd years I have seen with my own eyes what CAN occur with a diabetic, they can become violent especially after hitting their head in an accident. I am NOT saying what those police officers did was right I am saying that we need to know the circumstances which played out. I have had diabetics that have taken 10 people to control and after giving them some sugar based medications they return to a medically controlled state, where they are alert and oriented to their normal self. Remember, police officers DO NOT carry medications and have no way to tell if a person is a diabetic or drunk, paramedics have equipment to test their blood AFTER they can be controlled. I am Not saying what they did was right in antway but there are two sides to the truth and someone will be responsible for getting to the truth it just won’t be us.

Again I think TASERs should be taken off of the law enforcements arsena, they seem quick to use them.

  19. Maryland totally sucks! We go for our son’s soccer tournaments sometimes and it is the only place where players and families have to stay in mandated hotels, upwards of an hour from the soccer fields. On the way to the games you pass numerous, lower cost and closer places to stay. The hotels are downtown where you have over priced restaurants and not much else to do. Of course, if you’re running late to a game and drive too fast, the photo radar will get you and they mail you a ticket.
The state is rigged to suck money out of people, which doesn’t surprise me, being that close to DC.
I’m not surprised that such a place would hire thugs for “police”.
My heart goes out to the poor woman and I hope she sues the crap out of them (oh oh, more photoradar…..).
This has nothing to do with the T. Martin case, you idiot!
