Once again, I find myself reading a translation of a Muslim cleric and trying to confirm that this is not a hoax. London-based Kuwaiti Shiite Cleric Yasser Al-Habib is shown on the video below reportedly saying that Satan turns certain babies by sticking his finger in the anus of babies and that gays crave “penetration” due to a “worm.” As with the recent Christian minister calling for death camps of gays, I am often left skeptical on such hate-filled nonsense could be espoused by even the most extreme religious figures. However, this translation is appearing on various websites.
The cleric in the translation explains how “[i]t is told that Omar Ibn Al-Khattab had an anal disease, which could be cured only by semen. Someone who, god forbid, has been penetrated in the anus – a worm grows within him due to the semen discharged in him. A disease develops in his anus, and as a result… he cannot calm down unless he is penetrated again and again.” Habib purportedly explains this “well-known” medical condition and then explains how the Satan checks to see if a baby is a Shiite at birth: “if the newborn is not one of our Shiites, the devil inserts his index finger into the anus of the newborn, who thus becomes a passive homosexual.”
That would make millions of Sunni Muslims — and all non-Muslim men — passive homosexuals. There does not appear to be a Satanic intervention creating lesbians.
As with the recent Christian minister describing how he wants to kill gays “in a fleshy way,” this alleged description of anal penetration seems uncomfortably detailed by the cleric.
What is fascinating about this theory is that it would have the unintended consequence of confirming that certain people are gay at birth. If that is the case, why stone them to death and hang them in places like Iran?
I have held on to this story for a couple days to look for someone determining that the translation is a hoax. I am still hoping (desperately) that one of our bilingual readers will confirm that he is actually talking about something benign like how to properly fast or why Manchester United is going to have a great year.
The real reason shi’a clerics hate the suni are because they leave open the possibility of future prophets. Its a threat to their authority, just like ‘the gays’.

However, I would like to know how this fellow got the information about Satan liking to play baby stink finger. It is my understanding that the Lord of Darkness is a fastidious cleanliness nut having been a former angel and all – with the exception that he never washes his feet since being cast out. As to the rest of what this guy says, to paraphrase Jay-Z, he’s got “ninety-nine problems and sanity ain’t one of them”. Yep. The translation holds up. I’m certified ILR4 in Arabic a (though oddly enough, only ILR3 in English 😉 ) It’s a common theme among Shiite clerics when disparaging other sects. An interesting note: It’s considered a bit of an open secret that in Bahrain and the UAE, “Women are for reproduction. Men are for pleasure.” I’ve been hit on several times over there with that phrase. Kind of creeps me out. Nothing against homosexuality, or even against being hit on (flattering, really) but the beards are just…. ewwww.

Interesting thought. It has always been my supposition that those societies with the most repressive ideas about homosexuality, are those societies that are most attracted to it. For some reason beyond my ken, sexual pleasure for large portions of people is derived from what they outwardly consider to be “naughty” acts. For me it has always been about the contact and the intimacy,

I doubt this is a hoax since as others have pointed out this is taken almost verbatim from a Shiite hadith. You can make this stuff up, of course, but why bother if the good book says so?

These days I often find myself musing about whether humanity has become crazier then in years past. Often in the elderly, such as myself, there is a longing for the halcyon days of our youth, which in fact are fictions of our mind. Humans have not in my opinion reverted to being more insane than in years past. What we see is the result of the information revolution, which gives us greater access to the range of delusions extant in humanity as a whole. In one sense this is the great battle for those of us who would want humanity to progress to a higher level. How do we deal with the insanity of those who seem to rise to leadership positions in religions and damned near everything else?
